Rumor: Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar Not “Wrestlemania” Main Event?

This is the main event? For over a year now, the general consensus among wrestling fans is that Roman Reigns will end “Wrestlemania XXXIV” by conquering Brock Lesnar to win the Universal Title. While the title match itself is already set, there’s a chance that it won’t be the last thing on the show.
This might be the last thing you see instead.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter by way of 411mania.com, there is a chance that the Triple H/Stephanie McMahon vs. Kurt Angle/Ronda Rousey match will be closing the show instead of Reigns vs. Lesnar. The idea here is twofold: WWE wants to downplay Lesnar as he may be on the way out of the company but also wants to have the fans rally behind Reigns rather than loudly booing him as they’ve done in the past. Paul Heyman responded to Reigns this week, which you can read about here.
Opinion: I’m really not sure I buy this. If there’s one thing WWE has shown over the last few years, it’s ..

Video: Top Ten Infamous Sucker Punches

To the jaw! As important as grappling is to professional wrestling, more often than not a match is based around throwing punches. Some people are better than others but there’s something to be said about a good punch in wrestling. It might be even better if someone doesn’t see it coming.
That sounds like a countdown.

WWE has released a new top ten list of the most Infamous Sucker Punches in WWE. Most of these are more modern entries, many of which took place on TV rather than in a major pay per view match. Several of them involved an authority figure in one way or another but a good number of them were wrestler to wrestler. Here are the results from a punch that made the list.
Opinion: This isn’t the most thrilling list in the world as the majority of these aren’t exactly memorable moments. The Triple H punch to Kurt Angle was recent rather than big and Big Show punching John Cena wasn’t even the most infamous incident of the same excha..

WWE Spoils an Upcoming Big Match? (Potential SPOILERS)

Geez warn us next time. We have less than a month to go before NXT “Takeover: New Orleans” and the majority of the card is pretty obvious. A match that is likely for the card would seem to be Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa but Gargano is no longer on the roster. WWE might have found a way around that, even though it’s not something we’re supposed to know yet.
Here’s something else from the same show you are supposed to know about.

Friday night, WWE made a post on its social media accounts, including its Facebook page, listing the “Takeover: New Orleans” card. This included matches announced during the recent “NXT” tapings, but also an unannounced match between Gargano and Ciampa, which is billed as unsanctioned. Here’s a screenshot of the post: WWE accidentally posted this on Facebook before immediately deleting it. pic.twitter.com/zWykr5eOp5

Opinion: I don’t think the match itself is all that shock..

Wrestlemania IV Review: A Really Long Tournament

On February 5, 1988, Andre the Giant defeated Hulk Hogan for the WWF World Title in a big of an underhanded way. This was part of a much bigger plan formed by newcomer Ted DiBiase, the Million Dollar Man. DiBiase had stated his intentions to buy the title from Hogan but when that had fallen through, DiBiase decided to back Andre and then buy the title.
During the match, Andre suplexed Hulk down and Hogan kicked out at two but DiBiase’s master plan kicked in as referee Dave Hebner counted the pin while Hogan’s shoulder was clearly off the mat. Somehow Andre was declared the new WWF World (Tag Team according to Andre after the match) Champion and immediately tried to sell the belt to DiBiase.
Ted was named the new champion and celebrated as….Dave Hebner came out. There were two Dave Hebners with the theory being that DiBiase had paid someone to receive plastic surgery to look like Hebner and impersonate him during the match (of course this was Dave’s twin brother Earl). Somehow t..

Matt Hardy on if He Believes the Young Bucks Will Come to WWE

‘Raw‘ Superstar Matt Hardy was interviewed by Sportskeeda where he spoke about The Young Bucks possibly coming to WWE, The Dudley Boyz going into the Hall of Fame and his opinions on The Bar. The ‘Woken’ being first talked about The Young Bucks and if he could envision them coming to WWE.
“That’s an interesting question. Personally, I’m a fan of the Bucks of Youth both as performers and as people. I think they’re doing pretty well right now and I can see them staying in that same division. But I certainly think that they could end up in WWE if they decided to make that decision.
“It’ll be interesting because being in WWE there’s a very stringent system and a certain protocol. For me, it’ll be very interesting to see how the Bucks of Youth will be able to survive and if they can thrive in that stringent protocol.”
Next, he commented on old rivals in The Dudley Boyz entering the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2018.
“I think the Dudley Boyz going into the Hall of Fame is a great decision. ..

AJ Styles on What Roman Reigns Told Him, Opinion of Himself

WWE Champion AJ Styles was a guest on Chasing Glory With Lilian Garcia where he gave his opinion on himself and his relationships with other talents behind the scenes. The WWE Champion first gave his opinion on himself as a wrestler.
“I try to stay humble and never assume anything because when you break down the word assume, you know what that means. Like I said, I never assume anything and in this business, you can’t. Again, things change so fast and you never know what’s going to happen, so I don’t assume, ‘oh, I’m that good’ or ‘I’m that [great]’. First of all, I don’t believe I’m that good or I’m that great. I want to be one day, but I never assume. I try not to watch matches. When I do watch them, I get so mad at myself. I think they could’ve been better or a promo that could’ve been better that it just tears me up, so I know there’s a point that hopefully I can get there, but I’m not there yet. I want to be.”
He explains what the most enjoyable part about what he does is.
“I d..

What Nickelodeon Franchise Did John Cena Audition For?

16-time WWE Champion John Cena was spotted auditioning for a prime role in an old Nickelodeon franchise that is looking to have a reboot, according to WWE’s official website. Adweek senior editor Jason Lynch snapped a photo to his Twitter account showing John Cena in the signature green striped shirt and khaki pants of Blue’s Clues host Steve.
In the photo, Cena appears to be reading from a script or holding a thin green object while another woman is on the stage with him.

While Nickelodeon is creating the revival, no further details are known as to whether the host will go by their real name and what the overall look of the reboot will be.
Blue’s Clues originally launched on Nick Jr. back in 1996, and was in many ways similar to that of Dora or Diego the Explorers, with a live-action host and Blue, the animated puppy.
Cena is scheduled to ho..

Another NXT Talent Has Been Released

It was previously reported that Sage Beckett and Abbey Laith were both released from their NXT contracts yesterday. One more name can now be added to that last, as a new report from F4WOnline has confirmed that Gu Guangming has also been released. He was among 7 competitors that were recruited from China in 2016.
You can see a video of their signing below:

According to the report, Guangming started appearing at NXT Live Events last year under the name Ming, as an enforcer for Kona Reeves. However, but he never appeared on WWE programming.

Editor’s Opinion:
This doesn’t surprise me. To be honest, I had no idea who this person was until I found out this news. However, I have no doubt that he is a very talented superstar, otherwise WWE wouldn’t have given..

Video: 5 Times Brock Lesnar Has Broken Bones

What a list to be on. I don’t think it’s any secret that Brock Lesnar is a very different kind of wrestler. He’s bigger, stronger and angrier than almost anyone else that wrestling has ever seen. It’s that kind of difference that has allowed him to put together one of the most devastating lists you’ll ever see.
This just hurts.
[This post contains video, click to play]

WWE has released a video of five times Lesnar has broken someone’s bones. This includes names from both of Lesnar’s runs with the company, starting in 2002-2003 and the latter which began in April 2012. Lesnar has injured a variety of people in that time, with some names bigger than others. Here’s what Lesnar did in his latest title defense.
Opinion: Like I said, what a list to have. It’s literally a list of people that he’s hurt severely in a variety of cases. That’s not a list you want to be on but it’s a heck of a list to have yourself. Lesnar is a beast unlike almost anyone else WWE has ever seen and while he..

Two Names Released From NXT Contracts

Two more out the door. One of the most interesting things about WWE is when they sign someone new. You’ll often see a big name debuting for NXT at one of their Takeover shows and it’s always going to create an uproar. However, there’s also the other side of the spectrum, with a pair of releases. That’s the case today.
Here’s one of the releases in action.
[This post contains video, click to play]

According to Prowrestlingsheet.com, both Sage Beckett and Abbey Laith have been released from their NXT contracts. Both appeared in last year’s Mae Young Classic and have been sparingly used on “NXT” TV since. Laith wrestled on the independent circuit as Kimber Lee and Beckett formerly appeared in Impact Wrestling as Rosie Lottalove before losing over 100lbs. You can read this week’s “NXT” Results here.
Opinion: Really, this isn’t the biggest surprise. Since the Mae Young Classic, both have barely appeared on “NXT” and it’s not like they were stars. It was nice to have them around for ..

Backstage News On the Plans For “The Ultimate Deletion”

It was previously reported that Matt Hardy has challenged Bray Wyatt to a match at the “Hardy Compound,” which is being referred to as “The Ultimate Deletion.” The challenge occurred on this past week’s episode of “Raw,” which you can see below:
[This post contains video, click to play]

According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the current plan is for the match to occur on “Raw” as opposed to WrestleMania. The reason for that is because although the matches that were done at the Hardy Compound in TNA drew a lot of interest, the Hardys were the focal point of TNA at that time. This is not necessarily the case in WWE.
In addition, if Jeff Hardy returns in time, there is talk of a match between The Hardys and Sheamus & Cesaro at WrestleMania for the “Raw” Tag Team titles.
There are currently no plans for The Bar to have a match at WrestleMania.
Editor’s Opinion:
I could see this going both ways. While it could be tricky to have a pre-taped segment occur ..
