That’s a lot. There have been so many matches throughout the history of WWE that standing out is a difficult task. While there are several matches that are great enough to stand above the rest, there are some matches that are much more infamous than famous. Now we know a rather important detail about a match that took place nearly nineteen years ago.

Back at WrestleMania 20, Goldberg faced Brock Lesnar in a special showdown match. Both men were leaving the company though, resulting in fans taunting both of them throughout. The two also spent several minutes of the match not making contact or using only basic moves. Jim Ross discussed the match during a recent episode of his Grilling JR podcast, revealing that both of them were paid $250,000 for the match, which ran about 13 minutes. That should help. Wrestlers work very hard in the ring to entertain the fans and put in quite a bit of physical efforts. There is almost no way to guarantee that a wrestler is going to stay completely healthy in any given match, but almost every wrestler has several built up health issues when their career is over. Thankfully there are ways to fix those situations, and now a WWE legend has done just that.

WWE Hall Of Famer Charles Wright, better known as the Godfather, has posted to Facebook, revealing that he has recently undergone hip replacement surgery. Wright announced that surgery went well and he is undergoing recovery, with morphine to help deal with his pain. Wright, 61 years old, who was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2016, where he won the Tag Team and Intercontinental Titles.

That’s special. Wrestlers are on the road for a very long time and spend several nights of their lives wrestling in front of a crowd. Those shows can probably run together rather easily after awhile, with one show not standing out from the others. While there are all of the usual problems that can keep a wrestler out of action, there are times where it isn’t clear what exactly is going on. Now we are seeing it again, and things are still not clear.

This week on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that AEW had plans for Miro following All Out on September 4, which would have led to a match at Full Gear. Miro then responded to Meltzer on Twitter, asking what happened between January and June, seemingly referencing the fact that he did not wrestle during that time. Check back later. There are a lot of stars in WWE but only a few of them rise to the top of the company. It means something to see one of them become one of the stars that WWE can depend on, which is why it happens so infrequently. At the same time, it can be a major issue when one of those stars is out of action for more than a little while, and unfortunately that is happening again.

Earlier this month, WWE announced that Drew McIntyre suffered a ruptured ear drum and was put out of action as a result. McIntyre was forced to miss a scheduled Tag Team Title match where he and Sheamus would challenge the Usos. According to PWInsider.com, McIntyre is not medically cleared to return to the ring and is currently not booked for any shows in the next week. There is no word on when McIntyre is expected back in the ring.

That’s a good sign. Injuries are one of the worst things that can happen to a wrestler, as you never know how long someone is going to be out of action. There are certain kinds of injuries that are worse than others and they often have an open ended time frame for a return to the ring. That was the situation earlier this year for a prominent AEW name and now we have a small positive update.

Back in June, AEW’s Adam Cole suffered a concussion during a four way match at Forbidden Door. Cole has not wrestled since and has only made one appearance on AEW television since the show. According to Dave Meltzer on Twitter, Cole is doing “much better”, but there is no word on when Cole could be back on AEW TV. Meltzer said that AEW is being cautious as you never know when someone is going to be able to recover from a concussion.

How nice of them. We are coming up on the end of the year and that means WWE is doing some things a little differently than usual. In this case, that means running a pair of live events on the Monday after Christmas, with Monday Night Raw being different as well. That changes more than a few things, but it seems that it is for the benefit of a certain group of people.

This Monday, WWE announced that the December 26 edition of Monday Night Raw would be a special Best Of show rather than a regular episode. According to Fightful Select, the change was made in part to give some of the production staff time off. While there will be two teams working at live events, there would be more workers needed for a television taping. Next week’s NXT and SmackDown have already been taped in advance.

It took long enough. Tag team wrestling has an interesting dynamic, as you can have two very talented wrestlers who have enough in common to make a great team. At the same time, there are often teams who are more different than similar, which can lead to issues. Those issues can even go so far as to having the team split up and that is what we saw this week.

Don’t get your hopes up. There have been a lot of great stables throughout WWE’s history, with some of the better ones being around in recent years. It makes sense for a stable to be successful in modern wrestling, as there is a heck of a lot more television time for the teams to dominate. WWE name dropped a very successful stable recently, but a reunion does not seem likely.

Welcome back? Stables have been a huge part of WWE for decades and that will likely continue to be the case for a long time to come. The idea makes perfect sense as a stable allows several wrestlers to get television time at once while often uniting under a common theme. Now a current WWE star is teasing the return of a stable which did not get the best chance in the company.
WWE star Nikki Cross has released a video of herself talking to a series of drawings on a chalkboard. Cross blows bubbles at the pictures and says she’ll make sure the drawings will get what they want for Christmas before wiping them away. The drawing appears to be Cross from her time as part of the Sanity stable. This comes as rumors of Eric Young returning to WWE have been circulating, suggesting that Sanity could reform. However, there is nothing to confirm that the team will be back.

Previous reports said Edge signed a three year contract in 2020, calling for 25 appearances and 5 matches per year, but Edge wrestled 21 times in 2021 and 6 times this year. There is a chance that the original report was inaccurate or that Edge’s deal was changed. It is not clear when Edge’s current contract expires or how many more matches he has left on his deal.
