AJ Styles Building his WWE Story in Feud with Nakamura

AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura are headed to WWE Money in the Bank on Sunday, June 17. The two men will square off for Styles’ WWE Championship, in a feud that has only gotten better over time. While some fans have complained that there seems to be no end in sight, the truth is that AJ and Nakamura are in the midst of telling a very compelling story in WWE. This is what championship rivalries are all about. Everyone knew that AJ Styles was one of the best in the world. It was never really up for debate. But the longer his run in WWE continues the more fans see just how good he really is. Of course important rivalries are paramount to building a guy’s reputation and Styles is no different.
When he came to WWE in 2016, he was paired with Chris Jericho. Their partnership soon lead to betrayal and the two became bitter enemies. This feud introduced AJ to the WWE mainstream and was important to his career because it allowed him to gain a foothold in the company.
That foothold led him to ..

WrestleMania 35 May Be The Longest In The Event’s History

If Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is to be believed, WrestleMania 35 may be the longest WrestleMania show in history. Meltzer is reporting that WrestleMania 35 is slated to start at 5:30 P.M. EST. This would likely follow a pre-show that lasts two hours, we assume.
Meltzer claims that the current plan for the show would mean WrestleMania won’t wrap up at 11 P.M. as expected by many. Rather, it may continue through the night into the early hours of the morning.
WWE is perfectly fine to do this for a number of reasons. As we’ve reported this week, WWE is changing the lengths of their PPVs and have informed international partners of this. Additionally, the show will primarily be watched on the WWE Network. This means unlike with Raw or SmackDown, WWE has no limit to how long their content is.
Depending on how you look at it, WrestleMania could very well exceed 6 or 7 hours, potentially even excluding the two-hour pre-show that the event will have.
The one big, obvio..

Could Vince McMahon Now Be Richer Than His Longtime Rival?

Ringside News is reporting that Vince McMahon may now actually be richer than his well-known longtime rival. McMahon has been in the wrestling business the majority of his life. In many ways, he took on his father’s work, and now his own family continues his legacy as the WWE Chairman is now in his older years.
Throughout his life, McMahon had a bittersweet relationship with former WCW owner Ted Turner. In fact, the two were rivals even before WCW was created.
Throughout their lives, it was very commonly known that Turner was wealthier than McMahon, despite both men having a ridiculous value to their names.
As of 2018, Turner has a net worth of approximately 2.2 billion USD. This is a tremendous amount- something many people only hope to ever achieve.
Meanwhile, the recent SmackDown FOX deal has risen McMahon’s value. He is now worth 2.5 billion USD, according to Forbes.

Popular Independent Wrestler Is Now An Actual Doctor

One of the most popular female wrestlers on the independent circuit has now just become a doctor, according to Ringside News. Independent wrestler Britt Baker is no stranger to the WWE world. In fact, her boyfriend in Adam Cole is the current North American Champion within the yellow brand, as his partners hold the NXT Tag Team Championship.
Baker, who is scheduled for The Bullet Club’s All In show later this year, has now achieved yet another milestone in her growing career.
Baker has graduated from her school and is now a dentist. While she will remain an active wrestler for the foreseeable future, it is nice to know she always has a backup plan in case she ever had to retire from in-ring competition.
Check out what she had to say about graduating on Twitter: So thankful for this guy for being my best friend, my love, and my rock throughout these last months of dental school. I can only hope to make him half as proud as he makes me. ?? @adamcolepro pic.twitter.com/SxUTLwYNSx

Update On United Kingdom Promotions Possibly Coming To WWE Network

There’s more than enough room. The WWE Network has been an amazing gift to wrestling fans. Starting just over four years ago, the WWE Network is now the go to place for the most wrestling content in the world, including the majority of WWE’s material from history and hosts of other promotions’ video libraries. However, there’s other wrestling in the world to be seen, so what can they do? Well how about coming under the WWE umbrella? According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is a strong chance that Insane Championship Wrestling (a Scottish promotion) and Progress Wrestling (a British promotion) will be brought to the WWE Network in the near future. This idea has been considered for a long time now but Vince McMahon reportedly changed his mind again and allowed the idea. While no date has been confirmed, there is a chance that the announcement could come as soon as the United Kingdom Championship Tournament events in London next month.
WWE and Progress worked together for th..

Main Event Results – May 24, 2018

Main Event
Date: May 24, 2018
Location: Times Union Center, Albany, New York
Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Vic Joseph, Percy Watson
I’m out of ways to say that this show is going to be all about Money in the Bank qualifying matches. Those things have dominated Monday Night Raw and Smackdown for the last few weeks now and it’s burned out a lot of my interest in the upcoming pay per view. It says a lot when the Main Event original content needs to bail us out. Let’s get to it.
Here are last week’s results if you need a recap.
Opening sequence.
Brian Kendrick/Jack Gallagher vs. Lince Dorado/Kalisto Kendrick uses an early Gallagher distraction to take Kalisto down in the corner to start. A backbreaker keeps Kalisto in trouble and let’s talk about the Cruiserweight Title match. Kendrick can’t get the Captain’s Hook so it’s off to Gallagher (no longer in Slytherin green), who is backdropped in a hurry. That’s not enough for a hot tag though as Gallagher runs over ..

We’re back stateside now and that means we need to get ready for next week’s title match with Cedric Alexander defending against Buddy Murphy. Tonight though we’ll be seeing a battle of the strikers as Hideo Itami faces Akira Tozawa in a battle over their issues during tag team matches of late. Let’s get to it.
Here are last week’s results if you need a recap.
We open with a look at Itami vs. Tozawa with Itami saying he didn’t like their time together. Why did Itami need a partner in the first place?
Opening sequence.
Drew Gulak vs. Gran Metalik Before the match, Gulak says he’s taking down another member of Lucha House Party. They can flip and dive all they want but if they step to him, they’ll tap out. Hang on though as here are Brian Kendrick and Jack Gallagher for commentary. Kendrick even has some drawings for the other comm..

First Match Set For Takeover: Chicago II

That’s a heck of a start. With less than a month to go before Takeover: Chicago II, there isn’t actually anything on the card. You can guess what some of the matches will be just by paying attention to television, but you need something a little concrete on the card instead of matches that might take place. WWE seems to have picked up o the lack of matches and added one the day after TV instead of just announcing it on the air, but at least it’s something. As announced today on WWE.com, Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch will be challenging the Undisputed Era’s Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly. The match was set up last week with Lorcan and Burch scoring a pin in a six man tag also involving Pete Dunne, defeating the Undisputed Era, also including Adam Cole. Lorcan and Burch have been helping Dunne in his quest for revenge after Dunne turned on him at Takeover: New Orleans, costing Dunne the Tag Team Titles in the process.
Who doesn’t want to see the Brits vs. Undisputed Era? Check out how ..

Major Update Regarding CM Punk’s Status For ‘All In’

Ever since the upcoming ‘All In’ show was confirmed for Chicago, the wrestling world has been questioning if the event will see the long-awaited return of CM Punk to the squared circle. Even with the show three months away, speculation is at a fever pitch.
The night before ‘All In,’ Punk will sign autographs in accordance with the show at the Pro Wrestling Tees store. By all appearances, the “Best in the World” is preparing for his return to wrestling and it’s easier to speculate when he’s literally being seen backstage.
Related: Why CM Punk May Be Involved In The ‘All In’ Show In September
Jenn Decker recently appeared on the Collider Bodyslam podcast and confirmed Punk was backstage during the press conference she hosted for ‘All In.’ Of course, there are several reasons why he could have been behind the scenes. However, that is not going to stop wrestling fans from speculating for the next few months about his involvement.
The fact is that wrestling fans would be ecstatic if the..

Impact Wrestling Live Coverage And Results – May 24, 2018

Impact Wrestling
Date: May 24, 2018
Location: Impact Zone, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Josh Matthews, Don Callis
We’re back to an old problem that this show has had many times before: not much is really standing out. Sure there’s some good stuff going on, but it’s not exactly sticking as something that leaves much of an impact. The big stories are still Austin Aries vs. Pentagon Jr. and Sami Callihan vs. Eddie Edwards, but they’re both starting to feel a bit long. Let’s get to it.
We open with a long and rather detailed recap of last week’s show.
Opening sequence.
OVE vs. Drago/Aerostar Drago wastes no time in diving onto everyone with a corkscrew dive and Aerostar adds a springboard trust fall dive. They head inside for the opening bell and Jake kicks Drago in the head. We hit a very early chinlock but Aerostar comes in for the save. A dropkick to the face keeps Dave in trouble but Jake kicks away to take over. We go split screen to show Eddie Edwards arri..
