That’s some praise. AEW has come a long way in just a few years and a lot of that has been due to its talent roster. The company has seen all kinds of people come through its doors since its inception and many of them have had quite the run. Only a few stand out as top stars though and now one of them is receiving a very special distinction from the most important person in the company.

AEW President Tony Khan appeared on the In The Kliq podcast, where he said that he felt Jon Moxley was the company’s MVP in 2022. Khan talked about how Moxley had been a great World Champion for the company and was there week in and week out, doing the best work of his entire career. Moxley helped form the Blackpool Combat Club and won the AEW World Title twice in 2022.

That would have been a tribute. There are certain images in wrestling that are absolutely iconic no matter how you look at them. These are the shots that you have seen for years and will continue to see for years to come, as they were some kind of a game changer in wrestling. Occasionally you will see someone pay tribute to such a moment, which was almost the case again recently.

During a recent interview with Metro, Ricochet revealed that he was attempting to recreate the classic Steve Austin bleeding visual from WrestleMania 13. Ricochet was busted open on the December 23 SmackDown and attempted to make himself look like Austin in the match. As a result of the cut though, medics came to the ring and wiped away the blood, despite Ricochet’s protests.

The big change this week is on commentary, as Sudu Shah is gone from the company, meaning we have a new team talking to us. That could be just about anyone, but what makes things worse is the fact that commentary changes are probably more interesting than whatever is going on with the show. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Nikkita Lyons vs. Jakara Jackson Lyons misses the early kick to the head and it’s a fast standoff. A armbar has Jackson down and Lyons rolls over into a front facelock. Back up and Lyons misses a running boot in the corner, allowing Jackson to hammer away. We hit the Fujiwara armbar and Lyons can’t quite power out. Finally she gets up and hits a sidewalk slam for the break. The strikes have Jackson in trouble, with a superkick into the splits splash being enough to give Lyons the pin at 5:10.

Them too? There have been several returns to WWE in recent months and those returns seem to be continuing. After dozens of wrestlers were released from the company over the last two years, all kinds of them are being brought back. That has made for some interesting moments and now it seems that WWE has its eye on bringing back to more former champions.

According to Fightful Select, WWE is internally discussing bringing back the Authors of Pain, Akam and Rezar. The team are former Raw and NXT Tag Team Champions and wrestled for WWE from 2016-2020 when they were released. There is no word on if the team is interested in a return or if they have been contacted about making one. Neither has wrestled since their release, though the team did announce their own independent promotion, which never ran its initial event.

Back home. We are in a different wrestling world as there have been all kinds of changes taking place on an almost daily basis. That is the kind of thing you do not see happen very often and it has been all over the place with one change after another. Several names have jumped between WWE and AEW and now one of the more prominent stars has something to say about his unique spot.

That’s an appropriate number. WWE Monday Night Raw has been the flagship wrestling program in the United States for most of its history. The show debuted on January 11, 1993 and has since become a staple of wrestling television, as WWE continues to air new editions every week. Now the show has reached a major milestone and they are doing something special to celebrate.

Bobby Lashley was recently interviewed by the Hindustan Times where he discussed a number of topics. Among them was another match with Brock Lesnar, an angle with Chris Masters from back in the day, which title he wants to go after next, and more.

“You know the interesting thing about Brock and I. I just met Brock maybe a couple years ago. Everybody was talking about us having this matchup for probably the beginning of my career back in 2005, but we never crossed paths. When he went to MMA, I was still in professional wrestling. I went to MMA, he went to professional wrestling and we just kind off kept messing with each other and not since probably maybe a few years ago did we first meet. There hasn’t been too much interaction between the two of us. We’ve had a few matches, a few interactions that have happened on screen, but outside of that Brock’s kind of a guy that kind of keeps it to himself. So th..

Maybe later. We are less than three months away from WrestleMania 39 and that means it is time to start hammering down the card for the show. With so many moving parts to the whole thing, WrestleMania can be very difficult to put together, but WWE does have some ideas in place. However, it seems that they may have known that one big match was not going to take place for some time.

Earlier this week, a report came out that the Rock did not feel he could get in ring shape in time to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE may have known that Rock was not going to be able to do the match months ago. However, there is always a chance of a swerve, as Rock may have only told his real status to a few people. Those in WWE have reportedly said “it’s not looking good” for Rock to wrestle. There is nothing to suggest that Rock will be appearing on WWE TV anytime soon.

I remember him. There are certain wrestlers who have been around the industry for what feels like forever. Many of them either work behind the scenes or continue to work in wrestling in some capacity after their in-ring careers are other. These people are lifers in wrestling and you will see them pop up every so often. That has happened again with a wrestler you do not see often in WWE.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Something Positive: Excellent News On The Recovery Of Jay Briscoes’ Daughters
Karrion Kross has posted a new video to his YouTube page, showing him speaking with wrestling legend Kevin Sullivan. In the video, Sullivan is playing a priest and, as revealed in the end of the video, something else entirely. Kross attempts to get Sullivan to help him with a ritual but Sullivan says he is worried about Kross going down the wrong path. There is no word on if Sullivan will appear in WWE or if this will be part of a storyline. It is the first video uploaded to Kross’ channel in six month..

That’s a big step. The saddest wrestling story of the year so far has been the passing of Jay Briscoe, who was killed in a car crash earlier this week. Briscoe’s death was horrible enough, but on top of that, his two daughters were severely injured as well. Now though there is an update on their conditions and in this case, it is something much more positive for a change.
Josh Wharton, a family friend of the Briscoes, uploaded a live stream on Friday with an update on Briscoe’s daughters. Gracie, 12 years old, regained movement in her lower limbs for the first time since the accident. She has also been removed from her IV medication and is recovering. Jayleigh, 9 years old, is now in a back brace and should be able to recover from her injuries over the next several weeks. The hospital had hoped that her NG tube could be removed on Saturday, allowing her to eat and drink as normal.

It’s part of the job. Despite its problems, WWE is still the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world. The company is active in several countries, but the majority of its work is done in the United States. It makes sense for the company to want to be associated with some of the biggest sporting events in the country and they tried to do so again this week.

Monday Night Raw stars Montez Ford and Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair appeared on NBC’s pre-game coverage of the Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Kansas City Chiefs NFL playoff game. Ford talked about the energy being the same as you find at a WWE event and Belair talked about the high stakes. Both picked the Chiefs to win, which would wind up being correct.

The changes continue. There have been all kinds of changes taking place in WWE in recent months and there is nothing to suggest that those changes are ending. The majority of the changes have involved wrestlers returning to the company after being released or fired, but those are not the only movements. In addition, there have been some behind the scenes changes, and now we are seeing more of them.

According to Fightful Select, WWE made cuts to its office staff on Friday, though it is not clear how many cuts were made or which departments they came from. WWE has not made any announcement about the cuts and there is nothing to suggest that there have been cuts to the roster. This comes as Vince McMahon has taken control of WWE again and has been bringing in some of his former staff.
