So much for that. Tag team wrestling has been around for a very long time in wrestling and that will likely be the case again for years to come. There are several teams who have been together for a long time, but at some point they are going to split for one reason or another. Some of these are more violent than others, and that was the case again this week as two wrestlers went their separate ways.

The final segment of this week’s edition of NXT saw a special edition of Bayley’s Ding Dong Hello interview segment, with Toxic Attraction’s Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne as the guests. The two discussed their recent differences but eventually hugged after talking about going after the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. However, Jayne then attacked Dolin to end the show, splitting up the team in the process.

Please be ok. There are all kinds of medical issues that a wrestler can face and some of them are a lot more serious than others. While a lot of these are the usual kind of sports injuries, there are also several other issues that can be more like the regular issues that other people face at any given time. Now a wrestling legend is facing quite the medical ordeal of his own.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It’s On The Way: WWE Makes Huge Summerslam Announcement
According to PWInsider.com, WWE legend and Hall Of Famer Jerry Lawler has been hospitalized due to a “serious” medical issue. Lawler was at his condo in Florida and went to lunch, only to feel ill later and be sent to the hospital. There is no word on what is wrong with Lawler or when he might be released from medical care. Lawler, 73, was a guest commentator during last month’s Raw XXX special.

There’s the next one. WWE is a huge wrestling company and as a result, its major shows are often held on the biggest stages. This includes several shows that are held in huge NFL stadiums to give the show as big of a feel as possible. That can make for some great moments, and now another top WWE event is going to get a chance to make it happen all over again.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: Another WWE Hall Of Famer To Return, Team With Lita/Becky Lynch
As announced by the Detroit News and later confirmed by WWE.com, Summerslam 2023 will be held on Saturday August 5 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. Summerslam was previously held in the Detroit area in 1993 but this will be the first time that the event will be held at Ford Field, as well as its third straight year in a stadium. No matches have been officially announced for the event.

This is a big one. Legends have been used as a major part of wrestling for a very long time. Wrestling is one of the only sport where a legend can jump back in with almost no notice and become a focal point all over again. You never know when you are going to see one more match, and now we seem to be seeing it again with two legends looking set to come back to the ring.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He’s Gone: WWE Announces Suspension For AEW Star Over Altercation With Shawn Michaels
The main event of this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw saw Becky Lynch defeat Bayley in a steel cage match with the help of Lita. Late in the match, Lita appeared to help Lynch clear out Damage Ctrl, allowing Lynch to pick up the win. According to WRKDWrestling on Twitter and affirmed by Sean Ross Sapp on Twitter, Lita’s return is expected to be followed by Trish Stratus’ return next week, with the two teaming together with Lynch against Damage Ctrl at Elimination Chamber.

It’s the first of two stops on the Road to Wrestlemania and that means we’ll be seeing a big steel structure. In this case it’s for the WWE Championship and the inaugural WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. The structure alone makes this a little more interesting and hopefully it’s good on top of that. Let’s get to it.

Over the weekend, Grayson Waller was defeated by Bron Breakker in the main event of NXT Vengeance Day. Following the match, Waller confronted NXT executive Shawn Michaels and asked what he needed to do to become the top star in NXT. On Monday, WWE announced that Waller had been suspended for one week for his actions. Waller has since responded, asking to be allowed back so he can pose with Michaels like other WWE stars. There is nothing to suggest that the suspension is anything more than a storyline.

There’s your next awesome team. There are certain people in wrestling who catch your attention no matter what they are doing. Wrestlers like them are incredibly valuable to any promotion, as they can bring up all kinds of other stars along with them. In this case, one of the biggest stars in wrestling is doing something with one of them, though it is not going to be for the masses.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Set Your Clock: AEW Rampage Set For Time Change Due To Special NBA Coverage
This week, Chris Jericho hosted his annual Rock N Wrestling Rager At Sea cruise. The cruise featured live wrestling, including a tag match between Chris Jericho and Danhausen against the Gunn Club. Jericho wrestled the match in full Danhausen gear, including face paint, while impersonating Danhausen throughout the match. Following the match, some guest stars appeared as well.

Monday Night Raw

We are less than two weeks away from Elimination Chamber and that means it is time to start getting more qualifying matches out of the way. In addition to that though, we have a cage match between Bayley and Becky Lynch which should be a heck of a showdown. That should be enough but Cody Rhodes will be somewhere as well. Let’s get to it.
Here are Edge and Beth Phoenix for a chat, but first we see a clip of Edge quitting at Extreme Rules to save Beth from a Conchairto, which happened anyway. Then they returned at Elimination Chamber, where they took out Judgment Day again. In the arena, Edge talks about how he wanted Judgment Day to be about finding new talent. We hear about the members of the team but then everything fell apart. The team attacked Edge so here is their golf clap. Fans: “YOU STILL GOT IT!” Edge: “I never lost it!”

It’s just a one off. There are all kinds of wrestling television shows around the world today and the power of streaming has made it easier than ever to see what is available. At the same time, there is little that is more dominant than being on television, as it remains the dominant force for distribution. Now one of the biggest wrestling shows of the week is changing for a little while.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: They Went At It: Another AEW Backstage Scuffle Revealed
According to PWInsider.com, the February 17 episode of AEW Rampage will air at 7pm.. The one night change is due to TNT’s coverage of the NBA that evening. The show usually airs at 10pm EST on Friday nights but regularly deals with changed due to the network’s coverage of other mainstream sports. There have been no matches announced for the card so far.

She won’t be around. One of the biggest WWE stories from last year was the departure of Naomi and Sasha Banks. The team, then WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, walked out on the company, vacating the belts in the process. Banks has since resurfaced in New Japan, but Naomi has not wrestled again since. Now there is a hint that it might be even longer than that.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It’s A Big One: Huge Grudge Match Set For WWE Elimination Chamber
In the last few days, Naomi has updated her Instragram biography to say “Just Trinity”, with no reference whatsoever to her WWE name of Naomi. There is nothing to suggest that she will be returning to WWE at any point in the near future, though there have been reports that the two sides have been in negotiations. Naomi has not wrestled a match since May 15, 2022.
