WOO! Ric Flair Confirms Return To The Ring, Possible Legend Returning As Opponent

Yes, again. There are very few wrestlers who truly retire from the ring. For one reason or another, a wrestler will almost always return to the ring for one more run or even one more match. That does not mean it is a good idea, as there have been some terrible comebacks in wrestling history. Now another one is taking place, as one of the biggest names of all time is returning to the ring.
After a few days of speculation, Ric Flair has confirmed that he is returning to the ring for one more match later this year. The match will be held in Nashville, Tennessee on July 31 as part of the Starrcast V convention. According to Fightful Select, the match will see Flair teaming with FTR to face the Rock N Roll Express and Ricky Steamboat, though no official announcement has been made. Flair last wrestled in September 2011 for Impact Wrestling.

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Almost Intentionally Broke The Ring This Week

That could have been big. There are certain things that almost have to be present to make a wrestling show work. This might seem a bit obvious, but one of the most important is a wrestling ring. The wrestlers get in the ring to have their match, and it is fairly easy to tell what you are watching if you see a ring present. That was almost taken in a different direction this week.
One of the matches advertised for this week’s Monday Night Raw was a cage match between Omos and Bobby Lashley. This was the third match between the two of them after they split the first two. According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, an idea was floated to have the match end by destroying the ring. This did not wind up happening, as Omos threw Lashley through the cage wall, allowing Lashley to escape and win. The ring has been destroyed before, usually via a superplex, but never in a cage match.
Over the course of the past week, there was an idea for a collapsing ring angle during the cage match tonigh..

Here Are The Two Names WWE Has Picked To Represent The Company

The important ones. WWE is the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world but they still have new places to conquer. The company already has a huge international presence and some major television deals, but they can always use more money and power. Now they have the chance to do so, and we know who they are using to help present themselves.
This week, NBC Universal is holding its up fronts in New York City, where the company tries to convince companies to buy advertising time on their shows. This includes WWE, which featured the Miz and Bianca Belair as WWE’s official representatives. The NBC Advertising And Partnerships Twitter account posted a photo of the two at the presentations. NBC Universal currently airs WWE Monday Night Raw and WWE content on its Peacock streaming service.

REVIEW: SmackDown – May 18, 2007: They’re Getting Ready

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
Smackdown
Date: May 18, 2007
Location: 1st Mariner Arena, Baltimore, Maryland
Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield
It’s the go home show for Judgment Day and I’m not sure what that is going to entail. Everything was shaken up last week when Edge won the World Title from Undertaker, who seems to be going on the shelf. Edge is going to be defending against Batista on Sunday, meaning it’s time for the rapid fire build. Let’s get to it.
We open with a recap of last week’s cage match, Mark Henry’s return..

Alexa Bliss Receives An Important Change This Week On Monday Night Raw

It’s their identity. Theme music is one of the most important parts of a wrestler’s presentation. Without the right song, a wrestler might not be presented in the right way and that can cause them all kinds of problems. A theme song sets the mood for a wrestler and now one of the more established names in WWE is shaking things up a bit with a new theme song.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Alexa Bliss defeated Shayna Baszler for the second week in a row. Prior to the match, Bliss debuted a new theme song, replacing the music that she had used for most of her main roster career. The song included lyrics, marking a change from Bliss’ normal music. This was the second straight appearance for Bliss on Monday Night Raw, following three months of inactivity.
Opinion: The new song is a change of pace for Bliss, and that might be just what she needs. Her time as the female version of the Fiend was not the most well received and it is nice to see WWE getting further and further away from that ..

New Title Match Set For WWE Hell In A Cell

That’s a showdown. The WWE women’s divisions have come a long way in recent years and it has been impressive to see just how far they have come. A lot of that has been due to the amount of talent that the divisions have and it can be a lot of fun to see those wrestlers get together on the big stage. Now we are going to be seeing that again in a pay per view title showdown.
The main event of this week’s Monday Night Raw saw Asuka defeat Becky Lynch to earn a Raw Women’s Title match against champion Bianca Belair at Hell In A Cell. Late in the match, Lynch grabbed Asuka’s umbrella but Asuka sprayed green mist in her face, allowing Asuka to hit a kick to the head for the pin. This will be the second singles match between Belair and Asuka, with the first taking place on the May 9 Monday Night Raw and ending in a no contest.
Opinion: This is the kind of match that draws my interest as Asuka is one of the most talented stars that the WWE women’s division has ever seen and Belair has moved ..

They’re Back: Two Returns Take Place On Monday Night Raw

Welcome back. With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, it can be difficult to find something for everyone to do. That means some wrestlers are going to need some time off at times, which can lead to some very impressive returns. The returns can either be the start of a new feud or the continuation of an old one. This week saw a pair of returns for the same reason.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Veer Mahaan defeated Mustafa Ali. After the match was over, Mahaan continued to attack Ali, resulting in the return of Rey and Dominik Mysterio to attack Mahaan and save Ali. This comes after Mahaan attacked and injured both Mysterios last month, resulting in them missing time. There is no word on any match being announced between Mahaan and either of the Mysterios.
Opinion: I’m not sure where this is leading, but I can’t imagine Mahaan, who has been pushed as a total monster, being taken down by the Mysterios. Odds are we get a match of some sort next month at Hell In A Cell, plus some more ..

Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins Inside Hell in a Cell Confirmed

The trilogy will conclude. Tonight on Raw, it was announced that Cody Rhodes will do battle with Seth “Freakin” Rollins at the upcoming Hell in a Cell premium live event in a match of the same name.
From WWE.com:
After defeating Seth “Freakin” Rollins for a second straight time at WrestleMania Backlash, Cody Rhodes was ready to move on to the next challenge in pursuit of the ultimate prize, but The Visionary was not.
Rollins stormed onto Monday Night Raw the following night to level a heinous attack on Rhodes and cost him a potential United States Championship victory. On the ensuing edition of the red brand, The American Nightmare delivered a message to his rival and set a Hell in a Cell Match showdown for their third encounter.
With whatever mutual respect that was left between the two Superstars now thrown out the window, what destruction will Rhodes and Rollins wreak on one another inside the horrifying and brutal structure?
Editor’s Opinion:
You knew this was coming, but it ..

WWE Issues Statement On Sasha Banks/Naomi Walkout

It has been previously reported that Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out of the Raw taping this evening due to their unhappiness with the creative direction of the show’s main event. As a result, the original 6-pack challenge match had to be changed.
WWE has released a statement about the incident, which reads as follows:
When Sasha Banks and Naomi arrived at the arena this afternoon, they were informed of their participation in the main event of tonight’s Monday Night Raw.
During the broadcast, they walked into WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis’ office with their suitcases in hand, placed their tag team championship belts on his desk, and walked out.
They claimed they weren’t respected enough as tag team champions. And even though they had eight hours to rehearse and construct their match, they claimed they were uncomfortable in the ring with two of their opponents – even though they’d had matches with those individuals in the past with no consequence.
Monday Night Raw i..

BREAKING: Monday Night Raw Main Event Changed As Two Wrestlers Walk Out On The Show

I guess they weren’t happy. There are a lot of people in WWE and it can be difficult to keep track of all of them. At times WWE has to go out of its way to make its wrestlers happy, but that can be easier said than done. On occasion, the wrestlers will not exactly be happy, and that was the case this weeks as well, with two wrestlers being so unhappy that they were not having what WWE was going to do.
WWE announced a Six Pack Challenge for this week’s Monday Night Raw, with the winner getting a future Raw Women’s Title match. The match was set to include Asuka, Becky Lynch, Naomi, Sasha Banks, Doudrop and Nikki Ash. However, less than an hour into the show, the match was changed, with Becky Lynch announcing that Naomi and Banks walked out of the show and the match was changed to Lynch vs. Asuka.
According to PWInsider.com, Banks walked out of the creative direction of the match, with Naomi leaving with her. In addition, an update to the report says that Naomi was planned to win the m..

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results – May 16, 2022

Monday Night Raw
Date: May 16, 2022
Location: Scope Arena, Norfolk, Virginia
Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton
We’re in for a big grudge match with Omos vs. Bobby Lashley inside a cage. This is the third match between the two of them after they split the first two, though I’m not sure if it’s the best idea with the Cell pay per view a few weeks away. Other than that, we will probably get another push towards the Usos vs. RKBro on Friday, which will totally be the big conclusive ending. Let’s get to it.
We open with a long recap of Omos vs. Bobby Lashley.
Here’s what’s coming on the rest of the show.
Omos vs. Bobby Lashley Inside a cage with MVP in Omos’ corner. Before the match, MVP runs down the history and goes over the ways you can win the match (pinfall, submission, escape) before promising a lot of violence. Hold on though as Cedric Alexander jumps Lashley from behind in the aisle and the big brawl is on. We take a break and come back with the opening bell,..

Chris Jericho Does Something Pretty Awesome To Help A Wrestling Legend

That’s a special thing to do. There are a lot of legends of wrestling still around today and several of them have some rather famous careers. Unfortunately that does not mean everything is going to work out after their career is over, as some of them have some serious issues. That can include medical troubles, but now one of them is getting some help from a pretty well known source.
Earlier this week, WWE legend Virgil revealed that he has been diagnosed with stage two colon cancer. Virgil also mentioned that he does not have the money to afford the medical treatment and set up a PayPal account to help him with the expenses. AEW’s Chris Jericho has donated $1,500 towards the $20,000 goal, by far the highest amount so far. If you would like to donate, you can do so by clicking here.
Opinion: Jericho might not be everyone’s cup of tea and there is nothing wrong with that, but the man is willing to put his money down to help out a cause like this. You hear about Jericho doing this on a ..
