Important Update On The Future Of WWE’s Brand Split

That’s a big change. There are all kinds of wrestler in WWE, to the point where the company is able to split its roster into multiple sections. That can be rather difficult to keep track of but WWE does it as well as they can with Monday Night Raw and SmackDown having their own set of wrestlers. At least that is in theory, but the situation might be changing soon.
According to Wrestling Observer Live, while the decision is not official, the WWE brand Split is all but finished. Several Monday Night Raw wrestlers will be heading to SmackDown this week, including Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins, though it is not clear if the two will be on camera. It is not clear if WWE will officially be ending the Brand Split or just loosening it, as has been the case in recent weeks.
Opinion: I’m not sure how much of a difference this is really going to make, as some of the titles have been unified and wrestlers appear on different shows on a regular basis. It should be interesting to see how FOX and US..

Note On The Details Of AEW Star’s Contract With The Company

Stick around for a bit. We are coming up on the three year anniversary of AEW’s first ever event and the company is still going strong. The rise of AEW has changed quite a few things for all kinds of fans but also for the wrestlers themselves. Now wrestlers are able to have a different place to go aside from just WWE and one such star is going to be sticking around for a long time.
AEW star Kyle O’Reilly appeared on the Toddcast and revealed that he has signed a five year deal with the company. It is not clear if this is a new deal or the deal that he signed when he came into the company back in December 2021. O’Reilly has gone on to become part of the Undisputed Elite and will be facing Samoa Joe in the semifinals of the men’s Owen hart Foundation tournament.
Opinion: Good for O’Reilly to get a deal that he seems happy with and that he can be on for a long time to come. You don’t get to see a lot of people get that kind of security and O’Reilly is talented enough that he deserves it..

NXT Results – May 24, 2022

We are less than two weeks away from In Your House and the show has already started to come together. There are still a few matches to be set up for the card but at least we already have the main event set. Unfortunately that match is another Joe Gacy title shot against Bron Breakker. Let’s get to it.
Tony D’Angelo and company want to get their hands on Legado del Fantasma again.
Stacks/Two Dimes vs. Malik Blade/Edris Enofe Stacks elbows Enofe down to start but a dropkick gets him out of trouble. That’s not enough for a real comeback though as Stacks takes Enofe down again and grabs a seated abdominal stretch. We cut to Legado watching in the back, but now they’re heading to the ring. Enofe fights up and knocks Two Dimes over enough to make the tag to Blade, meaning house can be cleared. A high crossbody gives Blade two but the goons take him down in a hurry. Cue Legado..

Ouch: NXT Star Out Of Action With Injury, Tournament Changed As A Result

Catch you later. Injuries are one of the worst things that can happen in wrestling as you never know when you are going to see someone left on the sidelines for a while. Any wrestler can get injured at any time and there is no way to know how long it is going to be before they will make it back into the ring. That is the case again, as an NXT star is out of action.
As announced on this week’s NXT, Nikkita Lyons has suffered an undisclosed injury and is out of action for the time being. This includes Lyons being removed from her second round match in the Women’s Breakout Tournament. There is no word on how long Lyons will be out of action. Tiffany Stratton talked her way into the match instead and defeated Fallon Henley to advance.
Opinion: That’s never good to hear and hopefully Lyons is back in the ring sooner rather than later. Assuming this is an actual injury and not a storyline, Lyons being out of action hurts a talented NXT women’s division. Lyons is not like many other stars i..

REVIEW: AEW Double Or Nothing 2021: It’s A Stampede

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?

We return to pay per view and that is a nice feeling to have. The card is absolutely stacked and one of the biggest that AEW has had in recent or even long term memory. Possibly the most important story here is the fact that the fans are back in full capacity, meaning it will be even more energized than usual. Let’s get to it.

WRESTLING RUMORS: Top WWE Star Possibly Out Of Action Due To Back Injury

That could be a long one. There are a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster today but only a handful of them are legends in their own time. Those wrestlers are among the most important and popular stars the company has and it means a lot to have them around. That is not always the case though and now one of the biggest stars in WWE today may be missing some time.
Last week on SmackDown, the Bloodline attacked RKBro and left both of them laying. This week on SmackDown, Riddle announced that Randy Orton will be out of action due to both the attack and problems with his back. Orton did not appear on the show and according to Wrestlingnews.co, this may be WWE’s way to keep him off of television while he takes some time off for his back to heal. There is no word on when Orton may return to television.
Opinion: Orton missing time is not a bit surprise as he already works a reduced schedule. Now he can take a break and get things healed up again, likely setting up a big return for a showdown w..

New Grudge Match Likely Being Added To AEW Double Or Nothing

There is room for one more. We are less than a week away from AEW’s Double Or Nothing and the card is already stacked. The show has several title and grudge matches already set and there is not much left to do. AEW has set up a lot for the show but there is still room for a little bit more. As luck would have it, AEW has set up another match that would fit on the card and it seems that is what they are going to do.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW is planning on running a mixed tag match for Double Or Nothing. The match will feature Tay Conti/Sammy Guevara vs. Paige VanZant and either Scorpio Sky or Ethan Page. Guevara had agreed to the match weeks ago, though the participants were never specifically announced. It is not clear if the match will take place on the Buy In show or the regular show.
Opinion: This is a match that would make sends based on what was set up on television, but that doesn’t mean it needs to be on the pay per view. I’m sure the match will work..

WWE Might Need Some Help With Women’s Tag Team Title Tournament

They might need some help with that. Last week, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out on the company. While their futures with WWE have been discussed extensively since, the titles, now vacant, have only been mentioned once on SmackDown. WWE has a plan for the titles, but they might need some help in making it all work out.
Last week on SmackDown, Michael Cole announced a tournament to crown new Women’s Tag Team Champions. No details were announced for the tournament, including start date, the number of teams or brackets. According to Wrestling Observer Live, WWE is planning to have teams from NXT brought up to the main roster to fill in some gaps. There is no word on which teams will be brought up or if they will be staying on the main roster.
Opinion: This is something that WWE is going to have to do as they do not have the amount of women needed to make something like this work. At the same time, I have no idea what they are supposed to do with the titles..

WATCH: Wrestling Legend Hints Hulk Hogan Will Be In Ric Flair’s Final Match

That would be a way to go. One of the bigger wrestling stories over the last few weeks has been Ric Flair announcing his return to the ring. This has led to some questions, as the match is expected to be a six man tag, with Flair and FTR teaming with the Rock N Roll Express with a third person to be named. Now we might know who it might be and it could be amazing.
During an appearance on Wrestling Shoot Interviews, former WWE star B. Brian Blair says that he is looking forward to seeing Flair facing Hulk Hogan, suggesting that Hogan will be the sixth man in the match. When directly asked if he knew for sure that Hogan will be the partner, Blair said that he did not know it to be true. Blair is a friend of Hogan’s and was Hogan’s first ever opponent.
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that I could see happening, but at the same time I do not want it to happen. How much of a mess could it be for Hogan to be in the ring with Flair? At the end of the day, this is supposed to be about Fla..

WATCH: Former Champion Makes Surprise Return With Previous Gimmick

Welcome back? Wrestling is interesting in a lot of ways, as you will see a wrestler appear in different characters and gimmicks over the years. Every now and then you will see them revert to some of their own characters, which can make for more than a few interesting options. It can be interesting to see how the wrestler goes when things change and now that might be the case again.
Over the weekend, Robert Roode returned to the ring for his first match in two months. Roode wrestled as a singles star with no mention or reference of his regular tag team partner Dolph Ziggler. In addition, Roode came to the ring to his Glorious theme song, which he has not been using during his appearances. There is no word on if this will be used on television going forward.
This is quite nice to hear again. Check out Roode’s entrance over the weekend:

Opinion: Roode’s theme song is one of the best things about him and it is great to see him getting to use it..

Shake Up: Change Made To Previously Announced WWE Hell In A Cell Title Match

That makes things more complicated. One of the best things that a promotion can do for a match is add a little something to it. Maybe it is a match that the fans have seen before or that might not sound too interesting on its own, but occasionally some extra spice is needed. That can be done by way of adding someone new to the mix and that is what happened this week.
The main event of this week’s Monday Night Raw saw Becky Lynch defeat Asuka in a rematch from last week. As a result, Lynch was added to the Raw Women’s Title match at Hell In A Cell, which already involved Asuka and champion Bianca Belair, now making it a triple threat match. Asuka had already wont he right to face Belair by defeating Lynch last week.
Opinion: It’s a bit of a weird way to go but I do like the idea of not burning through a big singles match on a lower level show like Hell In A Cell. You don’t want to do Lynch vs. Belair all over again so adding Asuka in keeps things tied to what they were doing before wh..

WWE Adds Multiple New Matches To Hell In A Cell Card

They got some more covered. We are less than two weeks away from WWE Hell In A Cell and the show is going to be built around its namesake matches. Those matches do not make up the entire card though and that means WWE is going to need to add in something else to make it work. That is what they have done this week, as more matches have been added to the card.
WWE added two more matches to this year’s Hell In A Cell card during this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw. First of all, Bobby Lashley challenged Omos to a match at the show, which was accepted. Later, MVP defeated Lashley in a match to decide who would get to pick the stipulation for Lashley vs. Omos. That night on Raw Talk, MVP decided he and Omos would face Lashley in a handicap match. The second match will see Kevin Owens face Ezekiel, after Owens issued the challenge. Hell In A Cell takes place on June 5.
Opinion: This is the kind of a build that they needed for the show, which doesn’t have much going on at the moment. I’..
