Keep It Coming: AEW Considering Bonus Match For Double Or Nothing

There’s still time. We are less than a week away from AEW Double Or Nothing and that means it is a special time for the company. AEW only runs a pay per view every quarter and that means a spot on the show is one of the most valuable things that the wrestlers can attain. The card is already stacked, but AEW might be adding one more match to the show before bell time.
According to Fightful Select, AEW may be adding a grudge match between Kyle O’Reilly and Darby Allin to the Double Or Nothing card. This comes after O’Reilly attacked Sting with a chair last week on Dynamite, resulting in Sting being pulled from this weekend’s meet and greet due to injuries. The match has yet to be announced, but could be added during this week’s live Rampage. Double Or Nothing takes place on Sunday, May 29.
Opinion: The match does make sense, but I don’t know if it is something that needs to be put onto Double Or Nothing. The show already has a long card and adding something else to it might be a bit of..

One More Time: WWE’s Gable Steveson Reportedly Open To Return To College Wrestling

Maybe he isn’t done? There is a stigma when it comes to professional wrestlers that they are not real athletes. While this is easy to refute based on simply watching a match, the other way to solve it involves having more mainstream sports represented in wrestling. That often involves amateur wrestling stars moving to the professional ranks, but that might not be the case so soon.
In an interview with the Pioneer Press, University of Minnesota wrestling coach Brandon Eggum said that Gable Steveson would like to return to the university for his senior season. Steveson retired from amateur wrestling following his junior season, when he won his second Danny Hodge Trophy and second NCAA Heavyweight Championship. Steveson is also signed to WWE and appeared at Summerslam and WrestleMania 38. He was expected to begin on the WWE roster full time following his junior season but he has not appeared on WWE TV since WrestleMania. There is no word on if Steveson will be returning to the university..

WRESTLING RUMORS: Possible Backstage Heat On CM Punk In AEW

That would be a problem. There are two different worlds in wrestling and only one of them takes place in front of the camera. In addition to what happens in front of an audience, there is everything that happens when the cameras are off. That can include backstage issues between the wrestlers and we might have seen one of them take place in front of our eyes.
According to Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio, there may be some backstage heat on CM Punk in AEW. The two both cited the promo exchange between Punk and Hangman Page this week on Dynamite, saying that it felt like the Shawn Michaels/Bret Hart exchanges from the Attitude Era. This is seen as speculation as the two did not say that there were definite issues between the two or heat on Punk for that matter.
Opinion: That is quite a bit to infer off of a single exchange. There is a very real chance that AEW was trying to make the segment feel more like a worked shoot, which means that they did very well. M..

Another On The List: Monday Night Raw Star Injured, Out Several Weeks

Catch you later. Wrestlers are very impressive athletes, but there is always the chance that someone is going to get hurt. You never know when you might see it happen and that is one of the worst possibilities in wrestling. Some of the injuries are worth than others but any time away from the ring is bad. That is the case again with a current WWE star, who will not be around for a little while.
According to PWInsider.com, Monday Night Raw’s Zelina Vega has suffered some sort of an injury and will be out of action for another six to eight weeks, meaning she would be back around Summerslam. Vega has not wrestled since the April 11 edition of Monday Night Raw and was injured during her match against Bianca Belair. It is not clear what kind of injury she has sustained but there is a chance she will receive a push when she gets back. Vega has been praised for doing whatever is asked of her and working hard at anything.
Opinion: While you never want to see someone on the shelf for any amou..

AEW Interested In Bringing In More Titles (Other Than The Trios Titles)

Get the gold plates. Titles are one of the easiest concepts in wrestling and that has been the case for a very long time. Since wrestling began, the idea of having a championship belt to signify the best wrestler in the company has been a well known concept and that is still the case to this day. It means a lot when a promotion brings in a new title and that might be the case again in one of most prominent companies around.
During an interview with the AJ Awesome Show as part of the Double Or Nothing media conference call, AEW President Tony Khan mentioned that he would love to introduce Women’s Tag Team Titles to the company in the future. Khan said that while he needed to wait until some new wrestlers have been brought in and some wrestlers return from injury, but he would like to bring in the titles eventually. Also mentioned were the long rumored Trios Titles, though no date was given for either set of titles.
Opinion: I really hope that this isn’t something we see, as there are ..

KB’s Review: Joe Gacy > Roman Reigns

As has been the case for the better part of two years, we are in the Roman Reigns reign in WWE, as Reigns has held the Universal Title since August 30, 2020. That is more than enough to make his time as champion an all time great, but despite some great matches and an aura that no one else has, things might be getting a bit tiresome. Today we are going to look at the problem with Reigns’ reign, plus another champion who has been presented in a much better way.
To say Reigns has dominated SmackDown, and WWE in general, in the last twenty two months is an understatement, as Reigns has been presented as the biggest star in the company with no one coming close to taking the title from him. There is a good chance that we are coming up on the actually epic showdown of Reigns vs. The Rock at WrestleMania 39 next year in Los Angeles, but that brings up more than a few problems.
Reigns has beaten all kinds of challengers during his time with the title and at the moment, it does not seem like ..

NXT LVL Up Results – May 20, 2022

NXT LVL Up
Date: May 20, 2022
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Sudu Shaw, Nigel McGuinness
We’re off a pretty hot ending on Smackdown and hopefully at least a little bit of that can carry over here. Other than that though, there is always the chance to run down Sasha Banks and Naomi again, because doing it on national TV wasn’t enough. And there might even be some wrestling thrown in. Let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Javier Bernal vs. Bryson Montana Montana was the last man standing in Ivy Nile’s challenge a few weeks back. They fight over arm control to start with Montana flipping out and staring at Bernal a bit. A side slam plants Bernal but he fights out of an over the shoulder backbreaker. Some kicks to the leg put Montana down and a Codebreaker finishes Montana at 4:11.
Result: Bryson Montana b. Javier Bernal – Codebreaker (4:11)
Ivy Nile vs. Yulisa Leon Valentina Feroz is here with Leon. Feeling out process to start with Nile winning a tes..

On The Mend: AEW Star Confirms Torn ACL

There’s the confirmation. Injuries are one of the worst things that can happen to a wrestler as they can be doing anything and then have their momentum cut off in the blink of an eye. That is the kind of thing that ever wrestler dreads and the question becomes when they can get back in the ring. Now we know what happened to an AEW star and it is one of the more severe possibilities.
AEW’s Leyla Hirsch has announced that she has undergone successful surgery to repair a torn ACL. Hirsch said that she suffered the injury during a Dark Elevation taping when she landed on her feet while attempting a moonsault and landing on her feet. There is no word on how long Hirsch will be out of action. Rumors of her injury sprung up earlier this month but this is the first confirmation.
On April 5th, during AEW Dark Elevation, I suffered an injury. After landing on my feet from a moonsault, I tore my ACL. Today I was finally able to get my surgery.
Thank you to everyone for the support . I promise..

LOOK: Roman Reigns No Longer Advertised For Upcoming WWE Premium Live Event

So much for them? We are just over a week away from WWE’s Hell In A Cell event but that doesn’t mean it is too early to start on the next show. In this case, that would be Money In The Bank, which is taking place on July 2, albeit in a different venue than previously planned. As a result of the change of location, WWE has made another change in the form of the lineup appearing.

REVIEW: Survivor Series 2007: The Big Fight Feel

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?

It is pretty rare when you have a true one match card but that is what we have here, as Batista is defending the Smackdown World Title against the Undertaker inside the Cell. There might be a few other things going on here, but that has been treated as the be all and end all of the show, as it should be. Let’s..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE May Move Money In The Bank Over Poor Ticket Sales

That’s a shakeup. WWE presents a lot of wrestling events at any given time of the year. This can make for some very big events, as the company has the budget and the status to pull something like that off. It doesn’t mean that they are guaranteed successes though, and that might be the case again soon. If it is the case, WWE is going to be making a very big change.
According to Brad Shepherd, WWE will be moving July 2nd’s Money in the Bank pay per view event from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada to the MGM Grand Garden Arena, also in Las Vegas, due to poor ticket sales. WWE has yet to announce any such change and as of Thursday morning, still has Allegiant Stadium listed as the show’s venue. In addition, Allegiant Stadium’s Twitter account advertised the show taking place in the venue this week. There is no word on when the announcement will be made.
On May 19th, I broke the news on the Brad Shepard UNLEASHED Patreon that #WWE was considering moving to a different venue for Mon..

WATCH: NXT Star Announces She Has Multiple Knee Injuries, To Miss Time

That’s never good to hear. One of the last things that you ever want to hear about in wrestling is an injury. Someone can be on a roll and then have something to go wrong that wipes them out for a short or long amount of time. Wrestlers can be taken out in the blink of an eye and unfortunately that seems to be the case again. Now we know some more about just how bad things are.
It was announced this week on NXT that Nikkita Lyons was injured, forcing her out of the Women’s Breakout Tournament. Lyons has since posted a video to Instagram, announcing that she has suffered a partial tear of her MCL, as well as an MCL sprain. There is no word on how long Lyons is expected to be out of action. Tiffany Stratton took her place in the tournament and advanced to the finals against Roxanne Perez.
This doesn’t sound good. Check out Lyons’ announcement:
