Triple Threat: Three New Stars Make AEW Debuts At Double Or Nothing

Some new names. AEW has had a lot of success during its existence and quite a bit of that has been due to their roster. The company has been able to keep things fresh by bringing in a variety of different wrestlers, many of whom you might have seen before. That was the case this weekend, as AEW brought in three new names, all ow whom you are probably familiar with in some way.
There were three new debuts Sunday night at Double Or Nothing. First up, Stokely Hathaway, formerly known as Malcolm Bivens in NXT, debuted in the Jade Cargill vs. Anna Jay match, with Hathaway seemingly siding with Cargill. After the match was over, Athena, better known as Ember Moon in WWE, debuted and confronted Cargill. Later in the show, a segment showed Andrade El Idolo in an office. El Idolo introduced his new business associate, former Ring Of Honor World Champion Rush, who seemed to be part of the Andrade Family Office.
Opinion: These debuts are the kind of things that you need to see happen every now ..

That’s A Big One: Major Title Change Takes Place At AEW Double Or Nothing

History has been made on the big stage. A title is one of the most recognizable things you will see on a wrestling show as you instantly get the idea of someone having a shiny championship. On top of that, a title changing hands can be a huge changing point for a promotion, especially if it is the company’s top championship. That was the case again this weekend.
CM Punk defeated Hangman Adam Page to win the AEW World Title in the main event of this weekend’s Double Or Nothing. Punk defeated Page to become the fifth champion in the company’s history, which also marked Punk’s first title in AEW. It is also Punk’s first championship of any kind since he left WWE in 2013. The loss ends Page’s reign at 197 days, the second shortest reign in history.
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that can change a company’s path forward, as Punk is one of the biggest stars that AEW has. He can be the new face of the company, assuming he wasn’t already, and that might make a big difference going forwar..

AEW Double Or Nothing 2022 Live Coverage And Results

Double Or Nothing 2022
Date: May 29, 2022
Location: T-Mobile Arena, Paradise, Nevada
Commentators: Jim Ross, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone
AEW is back on pay per view and that should mean good things. The main event will feature CM Punk challenging Hangman Page for the World Title, but the question is around MJF. While he is scheduled to face Wardlow in a match a long time in the making, he has had some issues with AEW and there is a chance he won’t show up. That wouldn’t exactly be great to see so let’s get to it.
Buy In Show: Tony Nese/Mark Sterling vs. Hookhausen Hook and Nese start things off with Hook taking him down without much trouble. Danhausen comes in and is allowed to grab a headlock before Nese runs him over. The curse is loaded up but Danhausen goes with the middle rope hurricanrana instead. Nese drops Danhausen again and it’s Sterling coming in to stomp away in the corner. Sterling misses a legdrop though and Danhausen suplexes his way to freedom, allowing the tag off to H..

Top Independent Star Suffers Possible Torn Bicep, Finishes Match Anyway

Ouch. There are all kinds of ways for a wrestler to be put on the shelf with an injury. It might be something that has built up over time and has to be corrected but there are also times when an injury pops up out of nowhere. Both are equally bad, but the latter can stop someone’s push cold. Unfortunately that seems to be the case again, as a top independent star may have been injured.
NWA World Champion Matt Cardona revealed that he was injured during a match at GCW’s Downward Spiral event. The injury took place during a match against Black Christian though it is not clear when it happened during the match. Cardona tweeted that he thought he tore his bicep and was forced to miss his own after party as he flew to Orlando to get his arm looked at. There is no word on how long Cardona could be out, though he is scheduled to defend the NWA World Title against Nick Aldis on June 11.
I think I tore my bicep and I still finished the match and beat you!!! https://t.co/PWzrCryEV6

AEW Double Or Nothing 2022 Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

It’s time for another AEW pay per view and most of the time, that has been some very good news. AEW has a heck of a track record with pay per views, though things have been a bit weaker than usual in recent months. I don’t entirely know what that is going to mean for this show, but the card is absolutely huge with a staggering thirteen matches. Maybe they can make it work though so let’s get to it.
Buy-In Show: Hookhausen vs. Mark Sterling/Tony Nese They aren’t starting with anything serious here as Hook and Danhausen are the latest comedy guys around here. There is a short form possibility to the two of them working together but I’d like to believe that Hook could mean a lot more than he is being given so far. Danhausen is one of the most unique guys around, and now he and Hook can do their thing here.
That thing here would be winning, as Hookhausen has no reason to lose whatsoever. Hook can be the muscle for Danhausen as he does his wacky deal. That is all you need in something lik..

Hand It Over: Title Change Takes Place This Weekend

History has been made! There are a lot of titles to be won in the wrestling world and some of them are a little less than traditional. With so many championships out there, it is easy to find one on the line at almost any time, even if they are not taking place on a show from the company that promotes the title. That is the case again here, as a title change took place this week.
This weekend, Rich Swann defeated Matt Cardona to become the new Impact Wrestling Digital Media Championship. The title change took place at the Wrestling Revolver event in Las Vegas, Nevada, though Swann did not leave with the title. Following the loss, Cardona grabbed the title and ran to the back with it instead of handing it over to Swann. The title change ends Cardona’s reign at 114 days after he won the title on the February 3 Impact Wrestling.

Well Done: Upcoming WWE Event Likely To Set An All Time Record

Records are made to be broken. WWE has been running major events for a very long time now and that will continue to be the case for several years to come. After nearly forty years of pay per view events, WWE is running out of ideas, but there are still some things that they have not done very often. This includes not running many outside of the United States, though that will change this year, and in a record setting way.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, September’s Clash At The Castle event in Cardiff, Wales has sold about 40,000 tickets so far. A sellout of the stadium will be about 69,000 fans and if that takes place, as it should, the event will be the largest non-WrestleMania gate in wrestling history, as well as beating most WrestleManias. No matches have been announced for the card so far.
Opinion: This is one of those things that WWE can do like no one else, as they are basically getting a WrestleMania sized event for a show that probably won’t be anywhere clos..

WATCH: AEW Stars Rock Some Karaoke In Las Vegas (This Is AWESOME)

That’s a different side. Wrestlers are a lot of things but above all else, they are performers. These people go out in front of a crowd and do what they can do as well as anyone in the world. You can see some amazing talent from bell to bell, but there are also some talents that you do not get to see in the ring. Some of them were on display this weekend though in a rather fun way.
During their time in Las Vegas for Double Or Nothing, several AEW wrestlers performed karaoke songs as part of AEW’s Fan Fest. This included names such as Bryan Danielson, Keith Lee, Rebel, Eddie Kingston, Adam Cole and more. Several of the names will be appearing on the Double Or Nothing pay per view this weekend. There have been several videos of the performances on Twitter.
This is great stuff. Check out what the AEW stars did over the weekend:

Samoa Joe Also Misses AEW Meet And Greet But This Is A Bit Different

Him too? One of the biggest stories of the weekend has been Maxwell Jacob Friedman no showing a meet and greet at AEW’s Double Or Nothing fan fest. That brings up all kinds of questions of what is going on with Friedman’s future, which could cause some issues up and down the company. It turns out that Friedman is not the only person who was absent from an event this weekend, though it is a different situation.
In addition to Friedman missing the meet and greet, reports have surfaced that Samoa Joe missed his meet and greet as well. However, according to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Samoa Joe’s absence was due to a communication issue rather than any kind of problem between the two sides. There is nothing to suggest that Samoa Joe has any kind of issue or heat with AEW and he is scheduled to face Adam Cole at Double Or Nothing.
It appears the situation with Samoa Joe and the Fan Fest was a communication issue, so totally different from whatever is happening with..

MJF No Shows AEW Meet And Greet, Double Or Nothing Status Up In The Air

That could be a mess. In just over three years, AEW has become one of the biggest wrestling promotions in the world. The company has all kinds of strengths but one of the biggest is its roster. Using a mixture of rookies, upcoming stars and veterans, AEW has turned into one of the hottest wrestling promotions in a good many years. Now though, there might be a problem with one of its top stars.
According to PWInsider.com, Maxwell Jacob Friedman no showed a meet and greet at AEW’s Double Or Nothing fan fest in Las Vegas. In addition, Sean Ross Sapp is reporting that a flight for Friedman has been booked out of Las Vegas. Friedman is scheduled to face Wardlow in a match at Double Or Nothing. This comes as Friedman and AEW have reportedly butted heads over money and his contract status. There is no guarantee that Friedman will most the show as the two sides could still work out a deal.
I can confirm a flight out of Las Vegas tonight has been booked for MJF.

Homecoming? WWE Advertising Charlotte’s Return To The Company

Welcome back? Sometimes, WWE stars need to take some time away from the ring for one reason or another. You might see someone need time off for an injury, to advance a storyline, or maybe something personal. Either way, someone can be gone for a little while, but it can be interesting to see when they will be back. That might be the case again as a WWE star is being advertised for a return.
An image has made its way to Twitter showing Charlotte being advertised for the July 15 SmackDown in Orlando, Florida. Assuming she does appear at the show and does not appear before elsewhere, this is her first appearance after being written off television at WrestleMania Backlash. Charlotte is missing time for her wedding to Andrade El Idolo, which took place this weekend.

REVIEW: King Of The Ring 1994: The Owen Hart Tournament

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?
King of the Ring 1994
Date: June 19, 1994
Location: Baltimore Arena, Baltimore, Maryland
Attendance: 12,000
Commentators: Gorilla Monsoon, Randy Savage, Art Donovan
It’s tournament time and that means it’s not likely to be the most interesting show in the world. On top of that, this is one of the weaker fields they’ve ever had, which makes for a rather dull few hours. Finally, this show is infamous for the commentary, which really was a disaster and a horrible idea. Let’s get to it.
Earlier today, Jeff Jarrett ca..
