WWE Makes Very Rare (And Specific) AEW Reference On Monday Night Raw

There’s your big reference of the day. There are a lot of wrestling promotions in the world today but the top two, at least in the United States, are WWE and AEW. The two of them have been battling for a little over three years now and that is likely to be the case for several years to come. AEW regularly references WWE, but the tables were turned this week.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes had a showdown before their match on Sunday at Hell In A Cell. During the exchange, Rollins mentioned that Rhodes and his friends tried to tear down WWE, while also referencing Rhodes smashing a throne with a sledgehammer at Double Or Nothing 2019. The throne was considered a metaphor for WWE legend and executive Triple H, who has sat on one during his entrances for matches in the past.
Opinion: That is a lot more than you will hear from WWE about AEW, even if the company wasn’t directly referenced. WWE has a tendency to live in its own bubble and it is interesting to se..

Update On AEW/MJF Situation, Possible Meeting Scheduled

That’s a big step. There are a lot of things that take place in front of a camera on any wrestling show, but what happens backstage might be even more interesting most of the time. You don’t know what kind of things you will hear about taking place that could shake things up in a big way, but now it seems like we could be in for the next step in fixing the latest backstage dust up.
Over the weekend, stories began to emerge about issues between AEW and Maxwell Jacob Friedman, including Friedman missing a meet and greet appearance. There was a question about whether Friedman would appear at the show, which he ultimately did, losing to Wardlow in the opening match. According to Fightful Select, a meeting is planned between Friedman and AEW President Tony Khan in the near future, though it is not clear if this is this is still all part of a storyline. Friedman’s AEW contract expires January 1, 2024, when he is expected to be the subject of a WWE and AEW bidding war.
Opinion: This continu..

AEW Star Reportedly Arrested Over Domestic Violence Charges

That’s a serious one. There are all kinds of wrestlers in the world and some of them are among the most larger than life characters that you will find in any form of entertainment. Watching them on television can be a lot of fun and you do not know what you might get to see from one week to the next. However, these wrestlers have lives once the cameras turn off as well and now one of them is having a serious issue.
According to PWInsider.com, AEW’s Jake Atlas has been arrested and reportedly charged with domestic assault. Atlas had called his partner to pick him up at a bar before suggesting that the two go to a third person’s home. This resulted in an argument when Atlas’ partner paid more attention to the third person involved than Atlas. Eventually Atlas was taken back to the apartment he shares with his partner, who attempted to leave. Atlas reportedly attacked him and scratched his partner’s arm and tore his shirt. Atlas is scheduled to be arraigned on misdemeanor battery charges..

Two Names Removed From AEW Dynamite Match For Unknown Reasons

Not so fast. AEW has done quite a few things well in its just over three years of existence. One of their best things has been its pay per view events. The events are the most important for AEW as the company gets to showcase their biggest stars and matches. Those shows have to be followed up though, and now one of the followups will be a bit different than advertised.
Following this weekend’s Double Or Nothing event, AEW announced that a ten man tag team match would take place this week on Dynamite. The match would see the Undisputed Elite face Jurassic Express/Christian Cage/Hardys. However, AEW has since updated the announcement and turned it into an eight man tag, with Jeff Hardy and Adam Cole removed from the match. There is no word on why the changes were made.
See the fallout from #AEWDoN as a huge 8-man tag match is set for #AEWDynamite THIS WEDNESDAY at 8/7c LIVE on TBS, as #AEW World Tag Team Champs @boy_myth_legend/@luchasaurus team w/ @Christian4Peeps/@MATTHARDYBRAND to f..

WWE Makes Odd Change To Monday Night Raw, Advertised Return Doesn’t Happen

Where did she go? There are a lot of people on the WWE roster and while the company has a lot of television time, there is only so much to go around. Not everyone can get on TV every single week and that can create some problems for various wrestlers. It means something to be on one of the shows but this week someone who was supposed to be around didn’t appear.
Last week on Monday Night Raw, Lacey Evans was announced as returning to the ring on this week’s show. However, Evans did not wrestle and was not mentioned on the show, with no explanation of why the plans were changed. There is nothing to suggest that there is anything wrong with Evans or any specific reason for the change. Evans has not wrestled a match since February 2021 due to maternity leave.
Opinion: That’s one of those things that you see WWE do every so often and it doesn’t make things any more logical. I’m not sure why WWE felt the need to change things but it’s kind of fascinating to see just how much they change pl..

Huge Grudge Match Added To WWE Hell In A Cell Card

Call it a grudge match. We are less than a week away from Hell In A Cell and that means WWE needs to have the card set. That would be the case in theory, but it is not exactly reality as there were only four matches set for the show with a week to go before the pay per view. WWE had some work to do and that is what they did this week, with something new being added to the show.
A six person tag was added to the Hell In A Cell card this week on Monday Night Raw as Edge/Damian Priest/Rhea Ripley vs. AJ Styles/Finn Balor/Rhea Ripley was announced. This comes after the two groups have been feuding for several weeks, including Edge and Styles facing each other at both WrestleMania and WrestleMania Backlash. This will be the first time that the two teams have faced each other in a six person tag.
Opinion: This isn’t much of a surprise as it is the kind of match that has been set up for the last few weeks. It should work well as a new match on the card, but now the question becomes who migh..

Monday Night Raw Results – May 30, 2022

Monday Night Raw
Date: May 30, 2022
Location: Wells Fargo Arena, Des Moines, Iowa
Commentators: Byron Saxton, Corey Graves, Jimmy Smith
It’s the go home show for Hell In A Cell and there are four matches announced for the card. I’m not sure what they are waiting for with adding on more matches, but you have to think that something takes place this week. However, it is also Memorial Day, meaning there is a good chance that very little is going to happen here. Let’s get to it.
Here is Becky Lynch to get things going. She hasn’t been out here to start things off in a bit and she knows the people here are glad she has lost everything. Lynch doesn’t care what these people think, because she collects enemies. We flash back to Money in the Bank 2020, with Asuka winning the briefcase. Then Lynch handed her the Raw Women’s Title because she had to go become a mother.
That made Asuka a selfish monster….and here is Asuka to interrupt. She mocks Becky for being a baby and promises to win the ti..

Add It On: New Title Match Set For WWE Hell In A Cell

Add it to the card. We are less than a week away from Hell In A Cell and the card has some work to be done. There are only so many matches announced so far and there is a lot more space that needs to be filled. This includes a variety of title matches, as there was only one title match set coming into this week. Now one of those spots has been filled as a new title match has been added.
This week on Monday Night Raw, a United States Title match was added to the Hell In A Cell card, as Mustafa Ali will challenge Theory for the title. Theory interfered in an Ali vs. Ciampa match to give Ali the win via DQ, earning Ali a title shot in the future. After attacking Ali more, Theory said the match could take place right now. Theory beat Ali in less than two minutes but Adam Pearce said they could have a rematch at Hell In A Cell.
Opinion: This is a story that has been built up for a few weeks now and they have finally set up the big title match. I wouldn’t have had Ali lose the match this w..

WATCH: Special Victory Speech After AEW Double Or Nothing, With Special Guests

He deserved it. AEW had one of the biggest nights in its history over the weekend with its fourth annual Double Or Nothing event. The show was a star studded card, capped off by CM Punk defeating Hangman Page in the show’s main event. The title change was the only one on the show and felt like an important moment. It turns out that the night wasn’t over just yet.
Following the end of the show, Punk grabbed a microphone and thanked the fans for coming to the show and their support over the years. FTR came to the ring to celebrate with Punk, who talked about how the fans helped make them the best in the world. Punk also thanked his wife, AJ Lee, and was put on FTR’s shoulders to celebrate to officially end the show and the night.
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that makes for a special ending to the show and it gave the fans a nice sendoff. Punk winning the title really is one of the best things that AEW could have done and it could be quite the important moment’s in the show’s hist..

Backstage News On Stephanie McMahon’s WWE Hiatus

They aren’t sure. WWE is the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world and has been for a very long time now. A lot of this has been due to the names behind the scenes who make the company’s major decisions. Those names are very important and one of them making a change can mark a major shakeup in the company. Now we might know why one such change took place.
Earlier this month, Stephanie McMahon took a leave of absence from her executive position in WWE. During an appearance on the We’re Live Pal podcast, Andrew Zarian said that he received a phone call from a high up in WWE who said that there were doubts in WWE about McMahon’s abilities as an executive. This came after McMahon took on some of the departed Michelle Wilson’s responsibilities in ad sales and sponsorships. There is no word on why someone would want this information out or if McMahon will be away from WWE. On the same show, Dave Meltzer said that if McMahon does return, it will be in a different role.

There She Goes: Long Awaited Heel Turn Takes Place At AEW Double Or Nothing

What a twist! There are a lot of ways to present different wrestlers and some of them can involve quite a change. Sometimes these changes are hinted at long in advance but other times you see them come up out of nowhere. Both of them can be equally effective and can open quite a few doors. That was the case this weekend, and now things are are heading in a different direction.
This weekend at AEW Double Or Nothing, Julia Hart officially joined the House Of Black. At the end of the House of Black’s match against Death Triangle, Hart appeared and sprayed Pac with black mist, allowing Black to score the pin. This comes after Black originally sprayed Hart with the same black mist in December, causing her to slowly become more and more evil.
Opinion: This is the definition of long overdue and I’m not sure what took AEW so long to finally get to the point. Hart joining the team is something that makes sense and gives them a new dimension, though it remains to be seen if she can back it up ..

One Step Forward: Very Positive Update On Big E.’s Injury Status

That is some great news. There are all kinds of injuries in the wrestling world and some of them are among the worst things that can happen to a wrestler. Sometimes you see someone’s career cut off out of nowhere and it can be quite the wait to see things get better. That was the case a few months back with a very serious injury, but now there might be some good news.
According to Ringsidenews.com, Big E. has shared an image to his social media showing him without a neck brace. This is the first time that Big E. has been seen without the brace since he suffered a broken neck after a botched belly to belly suplex from Ridge Holland on the March 11 SmackDown. There is no word on when or if Big E. will be able to return to the ring.
