It’s time for one of the big gimmick shows and I think you know what is headlining. However, things have changed a bit at the last minute, as Cody Rhodes has suffered a torn pectoral muscle, meaning his match against Seth Rollins will be more than a bit different. The match is still on and inside the Cell, but I’m not sure how much Rhodes can do. Let’s get to it.
The opening video looks at some of the history of the Cell before moving on to talk about almost every match on the card.

BREAKING: Top WWE Star Injured, Possibly Out 7-8 Months

Yes, again. There are a lot of injuries in the wrestling world and some of them can be rather serious. At the same time, there are instances where you see one injury take place after another and it can shake things up quite a bit. That can be a problem when there is not a ton of talent to go around in the first place and unfortunately that seems to be the case again.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Monday Night Raw’s Cody Rhodes has suffered a possible torn pectoral muscle. Rhodes did not wrestle as planned in Champagne, Illinois on Saturday but did make an appearance at the end of the show. He is still expected to face Seth Rollins at Hell In A Cell Sunday night. Should he have the likely surgery to repair the injury, the recovery time is expected to put him on the shelf for seven to eight months.
Opinion: My goodness this is getting to be a lot for WWE, as I have no idea who in the world they could bring in to fill Rhodes’ spot. He has been presented as one of the bigger nam..

Hell In A Cell 2022 Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

This is one of WWE’s signature gimmick shows, but it also seems to be one where WWE is not that interested in promoting the thing. We have seven matches set for the show and three of them were added in the last six days. That doesn’t exactly give me a lot of confidence going into the show but maybe the work alone can pull it out. This certainly wouldn’t be the first time so let’s get to it.
Ezekiel vs. Kevin Owens This has been something of a comedy feud as Owens continues to fall more than a bit short of that time a few months ago when he headlined WrestleMania with Steve Austin. Instead, he is now in the middle of the modern version of Bobby Heenan trying to unmask Giant Machine, which isn’t exactly the most compelling story. It is a story however, though I’m not sure how much longer it can last.
I’ll take Ezekiel here, as there is little reason to have Owens win if the feud isn’t continuing. If WWE wants Ezekiel to mean something, he has to win his first big match, which would be ..

Homecoming: Proof Of Missing NXT Star Coming Back Under New Persona

I remember you. There are a lot of ways to bring a wrestler back to television after an absence. You might have them show up as a surprise or you might see their return hyped up in advance. Sometimes you, you see the announcement that a new wrestler is coming, only to find out that it is someone you have seen before. That is going to be the case again in the near future.
Over the last few weeks, NXT has been running vignettes advertising the debut of a new star named Giovanni Vinci. According to Fightful Select, Vince will be a repackaged Fabian Aichner, who has not been seen since the Imperium stable broke up in April. While Vince’s face has not been seen in the vignettes, he can be seen wearing the same watch as Aichner. There is no word on when Vinci will be debuting.
Opinion: I don’t know if this is the biggest surprise as the Italian part was a pretty big hint. It is nice to see Aichner getting to come back, as he has done quite well with the chances that he has had before. Now ..

Good News On CM Punk’s Injury Status

That could be worse. There are very few things in wrestling that can slow momentum down like an injury. You never want to see someone go down hurt but unfortunately there is not much that can be done to present it from happening. That was the case with one of the biggest names in wrestling earlier this week, but things might not be as bad as they originally seemed.
Earlier this week, former AEW World Champion CM Punk announced that he had broken some bones and would need surgery to repair the injury. As a result, Punk will be out of action, though he did not specify how long. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Punk is expected to be out of action for less than six months. While no specific recovery time was listed, it was described as “not a long time”.
Opinion: That is certainly good to hear as Punk being out of action for any length of time is a bad thing, but not being out of action for all that long is an improvement. I’m not sure who is going to be waiting on Punk when he ge..

Get Well Soon: NXT Star Injured And Could Be Out For A Long Time

That explains things. NXT has undergone several changes in the last few months, as the show has been relaunched as NXT 2.0. There are very few things that are still around from the old days, but you can still see some of the wrestlers who were around before. Unfortunately that has not been the case with everyone, and now we might know where one of them has been.
According to Fightful Select, NXT star Io Shirai is currently out of action with an injury. There are not many details known about the situation, including the nature of her injury or how long she will be out of action. Shirai last wrestled at NXT Stand & Deliver in Dallas, Texas in April and has not been seen on television since. The hope is that Shirai will return at some point this summer, but that is not guaranteed.
Opinion: That does explain a bit as there is no other reason to keep someone as talented as Shirai off of television for two months. Shirai is still one of the best performers in all of NXT and could easily ha..

And NEW: Multiple Titles Change Hands At NXT In Your House

Two please. There are a lot of titles under the WWE banner and some of them are among the best known championships in the industry. A championship changing hands can be a very important moment for someone, as it can mean the first major win of a wrestler’s career or a step back up after being knocked down. That was the case this weekend, as two titles changed hands in one night.
There were two title changes on Saturday night at NXT In Your House. First up, Carmelo Hayes defeated Cameron Grimes to win the NXT North American Title. Grimes had won the title from Hayes in a five man ladder match at Stand & Deliver. Next, the Creed Brothers defeated Pretty Deadly to win the NXT Tag Team Titles for the first time. Had the Brothers lost, they would have been out of the Diamond Mine. NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Toxic Attraction, NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose and NXT Champion Bron Breakker all retained their titles.
Opinion: You need to have something like this take place to make a show ..

NXT In Your House 2022 Live Coverage And Results

NXT In Your House 2022
Date: June 4, 2022
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Wade Barrett, Vic Joseph
We’re back with another special show as NXT gets in on another WWE pay per view weekend. This time around they’re dusting off another classic with In Your House, which has very little to do with what we’ll be seeing. The card is fairly short but there are five titles being defended, making it pretty stacked at the same time. Let’s get to it.
The opening video is based on the old In Your House intros, complete with Todd Pettingill doing the voiceover to run down the card. Joe Gacy gets to come through the house’s door and lights a poster on fire.
Legado del Fantasma vs. Tony D’Angelo/Stacks/Two Dimes The losing team has to join the winners. During Legado’s entrance, the referee finds a crowbar, which seems to have been planted by D’Angelo and company. We also get a video with Tony Gallante narrating about how this is about controlling the streets and i..

Opinion: This Is Tony Khan & AEW’s Sink Or Swim Moment

It has not been a good week for All Elite Wrestling. Coming out of their recent Double or Nothing pay-per-view, many questions were raised about AEW and their business practices and how things were handled behind the scenes by Tony Khan. With all the controversy surrounding MJF and now with the confusion about their world championship, one thing is evident to me.
In my opinion, this is a sink or swim moment for Tony Khan and the future of AEW.
Allow me to be very clear and transparent: I am unabashedly and openly not a fan of AEW and haven’t been since the beginning. I believe that Khan has no idea how to run a wrestling company, does not understand the business aspect of it, and his product is nothing but spot fests, blood and deathmatch type matches, and trying to get their small fan base to mark out for every little thing that they do. They have NO IDEA how to tell a story, except for a couple of performers (MJF, CM Punk).
As a result, some of my opinions may seem biased. However..

Main Event For Clash At The Castle Appears To Be Set

This makes sense. On this past week’s episode of Smackdown, the main event for the upcoming Clast At The Castle premium live event appeared to be set.
During the show, Drew McIntyre announced that he would be challenging for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship in the show’s main event. At this time, he would be taking on Roman Reigns, should things stay how they are now. While this has not been made official yet, it is expected to be done so.
Clash At The Castle will be the first time WWE has held a pay-per-view in the UK in 30 years. The last show in a significant stadium was SummerSlam ’92 at London’s Wembley Stadium.
McIntyre had missed the last couple of weeks of WWE programming, as he was in the UK doing promotional work for the event.
Editor’s Opinion:
This makes all of the sense in the world to me, and I think it was assumed by most people that this would end up being the main event. It had been rumored that McIntyre and Reigns were on a collision course at some point..

That’s Two: Another AEW Champion Suffers An Injury This Week

That’s never good. Injuries are the kind of thing that can slow down any wrestler no matter what they are doing. You never know when you are going to see someone get hurt for either a short or longer amount of time but either can be devastating to whatever they are doing. That seems to be the case again to a reigning champion, though things could always be worse.
AEW TNT Champion Scorpio Sky has sent out a tweet revealing that he suffered an injury during his successful title defense against Dante Martin on this week’s Rampage. Sky said that he started the match with his knee bothering him, but then strained a muscle in his leg in the opening minutes. The injury left his right leg “useless”, though he did finish the match. Sky also said that he hopes it is nothing serious and that he is able to return to the ring soon.
I went into last nights match with my knee bothering me and unfortunately in the opening minutes I strained a muscle that goes from my knee up through my groin. My rig..

WWE Isn’t Sure When Roman Reigns Will Have His Next Title Defense

They might want to work on that. Titles are the easiest concept to understand in wrestling, as any fan can get the idea of someone holding a shiny belt. Someone holding a title means that they are the best around and people are coming for you. That can set up some major matches, but now it might be a little while before that happens again with the top title in WWE.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has yet to make up its mind on when WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will next defend his title. The company is considering having him defend at either Money In The Bank on July 2 or at Summerslam on July 30. Reigns has been Universal Champion since August 30, 2020 and won the WWE Title from Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38 in April.
Opinion: I know WWE is enjoying the idea of pushing Reigns as the be all and end all of stars today, but I’m still not feeling this idea of several months with no title defenses. At that point, why bother having him as champion if he isn’t ..
