Family Business: Usos Tease A Bit Of A Surprising Career Move

Maybe that’s next. WWE does not have the strongest history when it comes to tag team wrestling. The company has had some periods of focusing on tag wrestling, but it tends to go in a different way. Most of the time WWE tends to focus on one or two teams at a time and that is the case again. Now the main team is interested in trying their hands in another part of WWE.
Last week on NXT, Grayson Waller interrupted a Solo Sikoa interview, which help set up the show’s tag team main event with the two of them on opposing sides. This caused the Usos, Sikoa’s brothers, to comment on the interview, suggesting that they were coming to NXT to deal with Waller in the future, though nothing has been announced. Waller responded, telling the Usos to ask Roman Reigns for permission to work on Tuesdays. The Usos did not reference the fact that Sikoa is their brother.

NXT UK Results – June 9, 2022

NXT UK
Date: June 9, 2022
Location: BT Sports Studios, London, England
Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Andy Shepherd
After last week’s title show, it’s time for another title show, which should make for a big week. This time around we have Meiko Satomura defending the NXT UK Women’s Title against Ivy Nile in a match that could go either way. Other than that, we could be getting some fallout from Moustache Mountain’s issues last week. Let’s get to it.
We open with a recap of Ashton Smith/Oliver Carter winning the Tag Team Titles last week. As a result, former champions Moustache Mountain doesn’t seem happy with each other.
Opening sequence.
Mark Andrews vs. Kenny Williams Williams bails to the floor to start but Andrews follows him outside and starts chopping away. Back in and Williams rakes the eyes to break up the armbar so Andrews twists the knee around the ropes. They go to the apron where Williams snaps the arm down, followed by a snap suplex for two back inside.

Ouch: NXT Star Injured At Live Event, Match Stopped

It’s the risk you take. You never know when you are going to see a wrestler get injured. It can happen to anyone at any time and that is never a good thing to see. Wrestling is a physical sport and that means there is always the chance that someone could go down at any given time. That seems to be the case again at an NXT event, as a wrestler seems to have gotten hurt.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Tony D’Angelo was injured at the NXT live event in Largo, Florida. D’Angelo’s match against Cameron Grimes was stopped due to a shoulder injury with Grimes being awarded the victory. There is no word on the severity of the injury or if D’Angelo will be forced to miss any ring time. D’Angelo and his Family have been feuding with Legado del Fantasma in recent weeks.
Sigh, it seems @TonyDangeloWWE suffered a shoulder injury at #nxtlargo Hopefully @WWENXT did some weird work and if not, hopefully the dude is alright. Wresting ain’t easy.@MikePWInsider pic.twitter.com/KPRXivguVy

There’s Another One: WWE Releases Another NXT Star

He’s gone too. There have been so many releases from WWE in recent years that it can be difficult to keep track of all of them. With one wrestler after another being let go from the company, you might forget that some of them are even still around. Now another name is gone as well, though this is for a different reason than the mass releases that have become the norm.
According to F4WOnline.com, Troy “Two Dimes” Donovan has been released from his WWE contract. The release is said to have been released due to an unspecified policy issue but he may be brought back in a year or so. Donovan was signed to the company in March and had been working as one of Tony D’Angelo’s enforcers in NXT. There is nothing to suggest that this will be the first of multiple releases.
Opinion: That doesn’t sound good and I’m curious about what caused WWE to let him go. Donovan wasn’t exactly a star but he was in a regular tag team and getting television time. It seems like something that came out of nowhere..

There Is It: Main Event Set For AEW Forbidden Door

That’s the next big one. AEW has changed the way the wrestling world works as it has brought in a variety of different changes. This includes bringing in several new wrestlers to the fold, as AEW has worked together with a variety of promotions over its existence. That will include the upcoming Forbidden Door event, and now we know what one of the biggest matches on the card will be.
Over the weekend, Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated Hirooki Goto at New Japan’s Dominion event. As a result, Tanahashi has advanced to Forbidden Door on June 26 where he will face Jon Moxley to crown the new AEW Interim World Champion. The title was introduced when reigning World Champion CM Punk was injured, forcing him to take time off. Punk will face the winner in a unification match at some point in the future.
Opinion: This probably isn’t the biggest surprise and that isn’t he worst thing. Putting an all time legend like Tanahashi in the show’s main event is a good idea and the match with Moxley will almos..

Double Shot: Two World Titles Change Hands Over The Weekend

Two for one. There are a lot of championships in wrestling but only some of them are at the top of the industry. Those top titles are among the most famous names in the history of the business and winning one of those titles can change a wrestler’s career trajectory. That was the case again this weekend, though it turns out that it happened twice in the span of two days.
There was a pair of World Title changes over the weekend. On Saturday night, Trevor Murdoch won the vacant NWA World Title at Alwayz Ready, defeating Nick Aldis, Sam Shaw and Thom Latimer, becoming a two time champion. The title was vacated after Matt Cardona was forced to vacate the title due to a torn bicep. Second, Jay White won the IWGP World Heavyweight Title from Kazuchika Okada in the main event of New Japan’s Dominion event.
Opinion: This is the kind of weekend that you do not get to see very often in wrestling and it makes things that much more interesting. Above all else, these are the kinds of title change..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Considering Babyface Turn For Longtime Star

That’s an idea. There are a few different ways to present a wrestler but most of them boil down to being a hero or a villain. The vast majority of wrestlers fit into one of these two categories and it is often fairly easy to tell which is which. Sometimes someone needs to be switched though and that can make for some interesting moments. That might be the case again with a WWE star.
According to Wrestlingnews.co, WWE may be planning a face turn for Sami Zayn in the near future. This comes after WWE has posted a video recapping Zayn’s attempts to join the Bloodline, only to have the team not treat him very seriously. Over the last few weeks, Zayn has also changed his gear and dropped the Fidel Castro style hat. There is no word on when or how the turn could take place.
Consider this evidence. Check out the video on Zayn and the Bloodline:

Opinion: I would be down for this, as Zayn has been on the evil side for a long time now. It might be w..

There’s Your Dream Team: Bret Hart Manages FTR Over The Weekend

It’s long overdue. There are certain times when you see a pair of wrestlers who seem like they are a perfect fit. It might be them facing off or teaming together, but it can make for some fascinating moments when they finally make it happen. This can be all the more common in modern wrestling with different promotions around the world and that was the case again this weekend.
Over the weekend, WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart managed FTR at a Big Time Wrestling event in Webster, Massachusetts. The match saw FTR defeat Brian Pillman Jr. and Brock Anderson, who had Brock’s father Arn in their corner. This comes as FTR has been paying tribute to Hart, including indirectly referencing him in their promos. The show will be available on Fite TV at some point in the future.

There’s The News: Update On Cody Rhodes’ Injury Status (And It’s Not Good)

That’s a long time off. Cody Rhodes made his surprise return to WWE at WrestleMania 38 and has since taken WWE by storm. Rhodes has become one of the biggest stars in WWE and even headlined last weekend’s Hell In A Cell event. However, Rhodes has suffered a major injury and that is the kind of thing that could slow him down for awhile. Now we know just how long that might be.
Before Hell In A Cell, Rhodes suffered a torn pectoral muscle while training, though he did manage to wrestle his scheduled match anyway. This week on SmackDown, Michael Cole announced that as a result of the injury, Rhodes will be out of action for about nine months. Rhodes underwent successful surgery to repair the injury on Thursday in Birmingham, Alabama.

Good For Him: WWE Star Auctioning Off Ring Worn Gear For A Special Cause

That’s a nice thing to do. Wrestlers are in a weird place when it comes to celebrity status, as while they are known for being on television every week, they are still wrestlers at the end of the day. While that does not leave them with a lot of mainstream appeal, there are still several people who are huge fans. Now one wrestler is appealing to some of those fans for help with a good cause.
Monday Night Raw’s Finn Balor is auctioning off some ring worn gear to benefit the Essex & Hertfordshire Air Ambulance. Up for auction is a shin guard and knee pad, both signed, along with a signed Topps trading card, plus another lot featuring the same items along with a pair of ring work trunks. The items come with a certificate of authenticity from the Graham Budd auction house, with bidding ending on June 26.

WATCH: WWE Star Possibly Injured During Match On This Week’s SmackDown

It can happen to anyone. There are a lot of ways for a wrestler to have their careers derailed and one of the easiest is through an injury. These things can pop up at any given time and some of them can be absolutely devastating. Unfortunately you never know when they are going to happen and it seems that we might have seen another one right before our eyes this week.
This week’s edition of WWE SmackDown featured a match between Lacey Evans and Xia Li for a spot in the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match. Evans won the match to qualify, defeating Li with the Woman’s Right. A video from after the match has made its way to YouTube, showing Li being checked on by the referee and medical staff. Li had to be helped to the back and it is not clear how badly she may be hurt. There is no word on her potentially missing any ring time.
That doesn’t look good. Check out Li after her match on SmackDown:

Former WWE Star Reveals Interesting Gimmick Planned For Him

That could have been different. There are a lot of things that have to come together to make a wrestler work out. If one of those things are missing or off, the whole thing might not come together. One of the biggest is the wrestler’s name and getting it wrong can be quite the detriment for a wrestler. It seems that WWE almost had a very interesting choice for a returning wrestler last year.
In a new interview with Inside The Ropes, Davey Boy Smith Jr. revealed that there were plans to give him a new gimmick during his 2021 WWE return. Smith would have worn his father’s vest and gone under the name the Stampede Stud. The plan had been for him to appear on SmackDown but he never wrestled on television before being released from the company in November 2021.
Opinion: Honestly, Stampede Stud isn’t exactly a bad name and I could see something like this working. It sounds better than Davey Boy Smith Jr. or having the same nickname as his father. Smith was always in great shape and they co..
