REVIEW: Money In The Bank 2015: A Bunch Of Ladders

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?

Location: Nationwide Arena, Columbus, Ohio
Commentators: Jerry Lawler, John Bradshaw Layfield, Michael Cole
It’s already time to crown a new Mr. Money in the Bank, just two and a half months after Seth Rollins cashed in during the main event of Wrestlemania XXXI. In addition to the ladder match, the main event is…..another ladder match! Seth Rollins will defend his WWE World Title against Dean Ambrose after saying he doesn’t need the Authority’s help. Let’s g..

AEW President Tony Khan Unhappy With Locker Room Leaks, Calls Them “Shameful”

The boss isn’t pleased. There are a lot of people who come together to make AEW work but perhaps the most important is the company’s president Tony Khan. In addition to being the company’s booker and financial backer, he is also the ultimate boss in the company. That means he has to be the final authority figure when something goes wrong. It seems that is the case again, at least according to Khan.
Over the weekend, news broke that Orange Cassidy was set to debut the song “Jane” by Jefferson Starship as his new theme music. This did not happen as the deal was not completed, but Khan referenced it during the Forbidden Door media scrum. Khan was not happy that the news about the new song leaked, calling such leaks “really shameful” as the entrance could have caused a pop from the crowd. He went on to say that it was ridiculous that he had to address the situation because someone in the back said something they shouldn’t have said.
Opinion: While I can understand why Khan is annoyed at ..

WWE Made A Match, Upgraded The Match And Didn’t Air The Match

They changed their minds. There are a lot of issues with WWE at the moment and one of them is their inability to present the matches and segments that they advertise. WWE has a bad tendency to change their minds on something they plan to present and it can create issues. That was the case again this week, despite a last minute advertisement of the match.
Last week on Monday Night Raw, Kevin Owens issued a challenge to either Ezekiel, Elias or their brother Elrod. Ezekiel accepted the challenge on behalf of his family and it was officially announced for this week’s show. On top of that, at 6am on Monday morning, WWE announced that the match would be a Money in the Bank qualifying match. However, the match did not take place and was not mentioned during the show, with no explanation given of why the change took place. There is no word on if the match will be rescheduled.

Kind Of Another One: AEW Star Reveals He Has Separated His Shoulder

It comes with the territory. As a physical sport, wrestlers have the chance get hurt everyt ime that they step foot in the ring. You don’t know ho long it is going to be before they are back though and that is a very scary questions. That is the case again as another wrestler has gotten hurt while on a pretty big stage, but this time he is a bit of a different kind of person.
Over the weekend at Forbidden Door, AEW’s Dax Harwood suffered a shoulder injury during FTR’s match with the United Empire and Roppongi Vice. Harwood was forced to leave during the match, though he did return with a bandage over shoulder. In his tweet announcing his injury, Harwood did not suggest that he will be missing any time. FTR are now the Ring Of Honor, AAA and IWGP Tag Team Champions.
Separated shoulder? Bite a towel and rub some tequila on it. It’ll be fine. pic.twitter.com/RsvZ8QF6Zc

Opinion: AEW’s luck with injuries lately has been appalling but thankfully Ha..

WATCH: AEW Stars Appear On Monday Night Raw To Praise John Cena

They don’t go here. Twenty years ago Monday, John Cena made his WWE debut on SmackDown. What followed was one of the greatest careers in WWE history, as Cena has gone on to become one of the most decorated champions in the company’s history, as well as developed quite the film career. Now some of his peers are celebrating him, including some surprising names.
This week’s Monday Night Raw was focused on Cena and his history with WWE. Throughout the show, various wrestling legends appeared in videos to praise Cena in one way or another. This included current WWE names such as Randy Orton and Stephanie McMahon, former WWE names such as Booker T. and Trish Stratus, plus some current AEW names, including Chris Jericho, Daniel Bryan and Big Show. Other names included Kurt Angle, John Bradshaw Layfield, Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels and Triple H.
I remember them. Check out the praise for Cena:

WATCH: Wrestling Legend Reveals Why He Turned Down AEW Offer

He had a reason. The rise of AEW has changed the wrestling landscape in a positive way, as there is now a new place for wrestlers to go. This includes younger and older wrestlers, as AEW has been a new home for quite a few legends of the industry as well. Now it seems that they wanted to try to pick up another one, but got turned down due to the legend not thinking he was up to it.
WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle appeared on NBC’s Ten Count podcast to discuss his wrestling career. During the interview, Angle revealed that AEW President Tony Khan offered him a contract to wrestle ten matches for AEW. However, Angle turned it down as he had recently started his supplement company, as well as feeling that he could not be his old self any longer. Angle was also offered a non-wrestling role but turned it down as well, again citing his supplement company.
There is a lot of good stuff here. Check out the full interview:

There They Go: Two More Names Qualify For Money In The Bank On Second Try

The field is almost complete. We are less than a week away from WWE’s annual Money In The Bank event and the card is mostly set. As usual, the show will be built around the namesake ladder matches, which will feature several men and women vying for what is nearly a guaranteed title reign at some point in the next year. Now we know two more of the entrants.
This week on Monday Night Raw, two more people qualified for the Money In The Bank ladder matches. In the opening match on the show, Riddle won a battle royal, last eliminating the Miz, to earn his spot. Then, in the show’s main event, Becky Lynch won a five woman elimination match, last eliminating Doudrop, to become part of the women’s match. The completes the women’s field while the men’s has one spot remaining.
Opinion: This is the kind of night that the pay per view needed as you have two of the likely favorites joining the field in the span of three hours. Riddle is going to be a heavy favorite and Lynch is the biggest star i..

Call Back: WWE Confirms Celebrity Returning At Summerslam

He has a history there. Celebrities have been a part of wrestling for a very long time now and it makes a good deal of sense. Fans of the celebrities care about what they are doing and wrestling fans get to see what happens when someone famous comes into their world. It turns out that some of them are quite the athletes too, and that might be the case again with a celebrity coming back at Summerslam.
This week on Monday Night Raw, the Miz was asked about Logan Paul training at the WWE Performance Center. Miz said that the two of them would be teaming together again at Summerslam on July 30. This comes after Miz attacked Paul after their victory over the Mysterios at WrestleMania 38, which Miz referred to as a lesson to Paul. There is no word on what Paul and Miz will be doing at Summerslam.
Opinion: I don’t think it was a secret that Paul would be back in WWE in some way, but at least now we have an idea of what he is going to be doing. Above all else, it helps to have someone with h..

Monday Night Raw Results – June 27, 2022

Monday Night Raw
Date: June 27, 2022
Location: Sames Auto Arena, Laredo, Texas
Commentators: Corey Graves, Byron Saxton, Jimmy Smith
It’s a very special night as John Cena is here to celebrate twenty years (to the day) of his WWE debut. That should be enough to carry the night and that might need to be the case. This is also the go home edition of Raw for Money In The Bank, meaning it’s time to build momentum, establish dominance, and maybe even come up with an original tagline for what the participants are doing. Let’s get to it.
Earlier today, John Cena returned to quite the hero’s welcome, meeting a bunch of applauding wrestlers and backstage workers.
Money In The Bank Qualifying Match: Battle Royal T-Bar, Mustafa Ali, Shanky, Akira Tozawa, Rey Mysterio, Dominik Mysterio, Ricochet, Shinsuke Nakamura, Jinder Mahal, Riddle, Miz, AJ Styles, Ciampa, Reggie, Shelton Benjamin, Dolph Ziggler, R-Truth, Veer Mahaan

Adam Cole Reportedly Suffers Serious Injury At Forbidden Door

It’s always a possibility. Wrestling is a contact sport and there is always the chance that something could go wrong. You never know when you are going to see someone get hurt and be taken out of the ring. There is an even bigger chance of something going wrong during a match and unfortunately that was the case this weekend in a high profile match at Forbidden Door.
This weekend’s Forbidden Door event featured a four way match for the IWGP World Heavyweight title as Adam Cole, Hangman Page and Kazuchika Okada all challenged Jay White. According to F4WOnline.com, Cole suffered a concussion during the match, which ended when Cole collapsed and was pinned by White. While not shown on screen, commentary did say that Cole walked to the back on his own power. There is no word on how long it will be before Cole can return to the ring.
Opinion: Concussion is one of the scariest words in wrestling as you never know how severe one of them is going to be. Cole could be out of action for more th..

Look Who’s Back: Next Ring Of Honor Event Officially Announced

Welcome back. There are several wrestling promotions in the world but not many of them have been around for very long. Several of these promotions do not last very long for one reason or another so it means a lot to see one of them being around for a very long time. That is the case with Ring Of Honor, and now we know when the promotion will be coming back for more.
AEW held its traditional media scrum after this weekend’s Forbidden Door event with AEW President and Ring Of Honor Honor Tony Khan answering questions. During the event, Khan revealed that Ring Of Honor would be holding Death Before Dishonor on July 23 from the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts. This will be the first Ring Of Honor event since Supercard of Honor on April 1.
Opinion: They had to do this at some point, as Ring Of Honor has only been existing as a plot device on AEW TV for months now. At some point that isn’t enough and they need to run another show of their own. I hope this doesn’t mean another month..

Update On Jungle Boy’s Injury Status

That could be worse. There is very little in wrestling harder to watch than someone getting hurt. You don’t know what is going on at the moment and there are a lot of questions that come with it. One of the biggest is what is wrong, which leads to the question of how long before someone can get back in the ring. Now we might know a bit more about one of those questions.
Earlier this week, news broke that AEW’s Jungle Boy was suffering from a legitimate injury and would be missing some time. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the injury was confirmed to be a shoulder injury, though there is still no word on when or how the injury took place. It is suspected but not confirmed that it took place in the ladder match on the June 15 Dynamite.
Opinion: This could be worse as a shoulder injury is a nasty thing to endure but at least it is something that isn’t related to his head. Jungle Boy is one of the better stars in AEW today and it would be a shame to see him miss that much time. If..
