Fare Thee Well? Another AEW Star May Be On His Way Out

Him too? AEW has not been around for very long but they have managed to put together a heck of a talented roster. The company has mixed things up enough with one kind of wrestler after another and it has made things all the more interesting. At some point though, some of those wrestlers have to go and that seems to be the case again with another somewhat cult favorite.
AEW star Fuego del Sol has removed all references to the company from his Twitter bio, while putting up an email address for booking inquiries. Del Sol has also sent out a tweet saying “change is coming”. While not confirmed, this could mean that he is on his way out of the company. Del Sol has been a regular on AEW programming, mainly wrestling on Dark and Dark: Elevation.
Change is going to come.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that has to happen in wrestling from time to time as promotions need to mix things up. Del Sol has been a regular, but he has never been the b..

They Might Have A Point: Group Of WWE Women Reportedly Unhappy With TV Time

Can you blame them? The WWE women’s division has come so far along that it is almost hard to fathom just where things were before. The division has gone from little more than time filler to a portion of the roster that has headlined just about everything in WWE. That is a crazy accomplishment, but as time goes on, it seems that things are not as happy as they once were.
According to Fightful Select, a group of women had complained to WWE about the lack of women being used on SmackDown earlier this year. With Charlotte taking time off and the returns of Asuka and Lacey Evans, the group was waiting to see how things went on SmackDown. In addition, the departures of Naomi and Sasha Banks has allowed for more women to be used. Ronda Rousey’s return has also helped, as she is willing to work with a variety of women on the roster. As a result, the group seems to be happier with the current situation.
Opinion: It’s kind of hard to blame the women for being unhappy, as they have a point with ..

Coming In: Two Former NXT Stars Appear At AEW Dark Tapings (CONTAINS SPOILERS)

It’s their new home. While WWE gets the most attention in the wrestling world, there are other promotions throughout the world, some of which have their own national exposure. It makes sense for those promotions to bring in former WWE stars when they have the chance and that seems to be what has happened again. This time though, a promotion brought in two at once.
AEW taped episodes of Dark this weekend at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. During the tapings, two former NXT stars made their debuts for the company. First up, Cole Karter, formerly known as Troy “Two Stacks” Donovan defeated Mike Orlando. This is Karter’s return to the company, as he wrestled eight matches before being signed to NXT. In addition, Parker Boudreaux also debuted, appearing with Ariya Daivari and Slim J, though he does not seem to have wrestled a match. It is not clear when these shows will air.

WRESTLING RUMOR: Former World Champion Arrested For Theft, Faces Possible Jail Time

He might be gone for a bit. Wrestlers are larger than life characters who are able to do all kinds of things that will blow your mind on a regular basis. It takes some special talents to make that work, but at the same time, the wrestlers you are still seeing are humans. That means you are going to see them make mistakes, and now that might be the case again with a pretty serious situation.
Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan has announced that former Ring Of Honor World Champion Michael Elgin has been arrested, resulting in him being pulled from upcoming cards. According to Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net, Elgin was arrested for theft of protein powder and could face up to five years in prison. There is a chance that a deal could be made to allow Elgin to avoid jail time by having him leave Japan, as was the case with Matt Sydal in 2016.

Long Time Coming: Injured WWE Star Possibly Returning At Summerslam

Welcome back? We are less than two weeks away from Summerslam and that means WWE is going to be working overtime to make things more interesting and draw in as many fans as possible. There are a few ways to do that, with one of the biggest being bringing in stars to help carry the show. WWE might be doing that with a name that has not been seen in a very long time.
According to PWInsider.com, Bayley is scheduled to be in Nashville, Tennessee for Summerslam weekend, meaning that she could be returning at the event. This is NOT confirmed and is only seen as a possibility at the moment. Bayley has been out of action since June of last year with a knee injury, though she has recently been seen training at the WWE Performance Center.
Opinion: Bayley has teased returning so many times now that I’m only going to believe it when I see it. It has been a long time off for her but a major knee injury like this isn’t the kind of thing that you just bounce back from. I could certainly go for Bayl..

REVIEW: Fastlane 2017: At Least It Isn’t Slow

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?

It’s the final show before Wrestlemania XXXIII and it’s fairly clear that this is just a way to fill in time before Orlando. The main event is Kevin Owens defending the Universal Title against Goldberg, which has a serious chance of being a squash. Of course it also has the chance of Chris Jericho interfering and costing his former friend the title. Let’s get to it.

Long Term: Injury Update On AEW Star (And It Isn’t Good News)

That’s a long time. Wrestling is a dangerous sport as you can see someone with all of the experience and skill in the world get taken down in the blink of an eye. Someone doing the most basic of moves can result in them going on the shelf for a very long time and that seems to be the case again. This time around it is someone with a long history on TV, but something has gone rather wrong.
Back at AEW’s Blood & Guts, Santana hit a swinging suplex but injured his knee in the process. Santana was pulled from the rest of the match and did not celebrate with the winning team. According to Chris Jericho on the True Geordie Podcast, Santana injury will keep him out of action for eight months. There is no word on the specific details of Santana’s injuries.
Opinion: That is one of the most amazing and at the same time sad things about wrestling: someone can be doing a basic move and suffer a horrible injury, even if it is during a wild match like Blood & Guts. You never want to see someone su..

It’s A Family Thing: WWE Announces Debut Of New Star Next Week

The more the merrier. With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, it takes something special to make someone stand out. There are a lot of ways to do that and some of them have been rather successful over the years. One of the most tried and true methods is to introduce someone as a member of a wrestling family, which will be the case again next week.
Over the last few weeks, Max Dupri has begun establishing himself on SmackDown. This includes introducing his Maximum Male Models group, formerly known as Mace and Mustafa Ali. The two have also modeled various clothing, including the tennis collection. This week on SmackDown, WWE announced that next week will involve the swimwear collection, featuring Dupri’s sister Maxine. There is no word on who will be portraying the new character.
Opinion: I’m almost scared to know what this is going to be, but at the same time, the whole Models deal has been enough goofy fun that it is hard to be overly annoyed. It could be just about anyone as the ..

AEW Rampage Results – July 15, 2022

Date: July 15, 2022
Location: Enmarket Arena, Savannah, Georgia
Commentators: Jim Ross, Taz, Chris Jericho
We’re still in Fyter Fest with the second of four shows in two weeks. I’m not sure what that is going to mean, but we do have a big time Ring Of Honor World Title match as Jonathan Gresham defends against Lee Moriarty. Odds are we’re going to be seeing some kind of a surprise challenger to come out after the match and set up Death Before Dishonor so let’s get to it.
Opening sequence.
Dark Order vs. House Of Black Black rolls Reynolds to the mat to start but Reynolds is back up with a wristlock. That doesn’t last long as Black knees him in the ribs to set up a chinlock before it’s off to Brody King. The big chop misses though, meaning John Silver wants to try King out of a slight case of insanity. King runs him over with a shoulder but misses a backsplash. Everything breaks down and the Order gets to clean house, including a double dropkick to send King outside. Reynolds..

Who’s Next? WWE May Have One More Major Anniversary This Year

Join the club. We are in an interesting year when it comes to wrestling milestones. The year 2022 marks 20 years since the WWE debuts of people like John Cena, Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar, Batista and more. That alone is enough to make the year historic, but at the same time are some other milestones that go back even further in history. WWE might be looking to celebrate something else.
According to PWInsider.com, the September 23 SmackDown will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah. This will be one day after twenty five years to the day of Goldberg’s WCW debut on September 22, 1997, also in Salt Lake City. It is currently not clear if WWE is planning to do something to commemorate the event. Goldberg has not wrestle for WWE since February of this year.
Opinion: I can see this one going either way, as WWE certainly loves presenting Goldberg as a major star, but at the same time, it would come a bit out of nowhere. Unless WWE is wanting to do something to set up another Goldber..

Yes Again: Another AEW Star Injured, How Long He’ll Be Out Of Action

Another one down. AEW is in a weird place as the company has been dealing with an incredible series of injuries. That is the kind of thing that can slow anyone down and you never want to see it happen to anyone, but AEW has had one issue after another. Now they have another one on the injured list, though in this case it might not be as bad as some of the others.
AEW President Tony Khan has announced that Andrade El Idolo was injured in a match against Rey Fenix three weeks ago. El Idolo has still been able to make appearances, including being ringside this week on Rampage, but has not bee able to wrestle. Following the announcement, El Idolo sent out a tweet saying that he will be back in a week or two and said the injury is nothing serious. There is no word on what kind of an injury El Idolo suffered.
He’ll be ringside for Private Party vs Lucha Bros on #AEWRampage on @TNTdrama tonight, he’s been hurt since the classic vs @ReyFenixMx 3 weeks ago.

He Kind Of Fits: Surprising WWE Legend To Be Guest Referee At Summerslam

Well, he is a legend. There have been all kinds of wrestlers to come through WWE over the years and some of them have made quite the impact. It takes someone special to be remembered among the best of all time though, which is where the WWE Hall Of Fame comes into play. While there are some names who might feel out of place there, you know a legend when you see one. That was the case this week, though this is a bit of a strange pick.
The main event of this week’s SmackDown saw Angelo Dawkins defeat Jimmy Uso. The ending was a bit controversial though as Uso’s shoulder was up as the referee counted three. Following the match, Adam Pearce announced that WWE Hall Of Famer Jeff Jarrett would serve as guest referee for the Tag Team Title match between the Usos and Street Profits at Summerslam. Jarrett returned to the company in an executive role earlier this year after being let go during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Opinion: I get the idea of the show being in Nashville and Jarrett tying in..
