WATCH: AEW’s Jon Moxley Lands Surprising Sponsorship Deal

Nothing wrong with an extra check. Wrestlers are in a weird place when it comes to celebrity status. While it is true that they are wrestlers, the top level stars are regularly wrestling in front of a good number of people. At the top level, they are wrestling in front of a national television audience on a regular basis, meaning they are going to be worth something to an advertiser. That is certainly the case with a current star.
AEW’s Jon Moxley appeared at the Forbidden Door media scrum with a case of Athletic Brewing non-alcoholic beer. Moxley mentioned that he was hoping to get a sponsorship from the company. Since then, Athletic Brewing has posted a video to Twitter, showing Moxley at the media scrum and announcing that the two sides had come to terms on a deal. The video ends with Moxley presenting an advertisement for the drink.
It’s quite the surprise. Check out the announcement and ad:

Office vs. Locker Room: Backstage Issues Reportedly Causing Issues In NWA

They might need counseling. There are a lot of wrestling promotions throughout the world and some of them are rather prominent. These are the promotions that have been around for a very long time now and a lot of people have heard of them over the years. It turns out that the modern version of one of the most famous promotions in history might not be going so well.
On August 28, the NWA will present its 74th anniversary show, featuring Tyrus challenging Trevor Murdoch for the NWA World Title. This comes after NWA owner Billy Corgan pulled Nick Aldis from the match. The two have both commented on the situation, with Corgan blaming Aldis’ attitude. According to PWInsider.com, there is some truth to the storyline comments, as Aldis has been critical of Corgan’s creative direction of the NWA. This has resulted in heat on Aldis for promoting himself as bigger than the NWA itself. Aldis is still expected to wrestle at the show with a new opponent to be named.

They Need Them: AEW Might Have Major Return Plans For All Out

It’s a good place to go. Injuries can be one of the worst things that a wrestling promotion can go through. A string of injuries can take out all kinds of wrestlers and the question becomes how a company can get through the wrestlers’ time on the shelf. AEW is currently dealing with that situation, but now they might be able to see quite a few lights at the end of the tunnel.
AEW has a group of stars out of action with injuries, including reigning World Champion CM Punk, Bryan Danielson and Kenny Omega. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW is hoping that the three of them will be back for All Out on September 4. There is currently no guarantee or announcement on any of the three returning. No matches have been announced for the show so far.
Opinion: That is a good goal for AEW, as they tend to have some major events taking place at pay per views. Hopefully the company can get at least some of the wrestlers back for All Out, as the company could use a lot of star power in a hurr..

You Need Them: Ring Of Honor Officially Signs Hall Of Famers To Long Term Deals

They’ll be there. The wrestling world is getting back one of the more prominent promotions of this generation as Ring Of Honor is running an event this weekend. That should make for quite the moment, but it does have some questions that need to be answered. Ring Of Honor has run one event this year and that was nearly four months ago. The promotion needs a roster and now we know two prominent names.
During the Ring Of Honor Death Before Dishonor conference call, owner Tony Khan revealed that the Briscoes are signed to the company on long term contracts. The Briscoes are Ring Of Honor Hall of Famers and record twelve time Ring Of Honor Tag Team Champions. They are scheduled to challenge FTR for the titles in a two out of three falls match at Death Before Dishonor.
Opinion: I don’t think this is much of a shock as is no one more associated with Ring Of Honor than the Briscoes. They are the undisputed biggest team in the promotion’s history and that isn’t even counting their singles suc..

Back For More: AEW Signs Former NXT Star

Welcome to the family? There are two major wrestling promotions in the United States with AEW and WWE. The two companies are both built around a rather strong roster and it can be a lot of fun to see someone go from one company to another. That is the case again this week, though this time it is a rare case of someone going from one company to the other and back again.
This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured the return of Cole Karter, who lost to Ricky Starks. Karter is the former Two Dimes of NXT fame, though he was written off of television last month after being released from the company for an unknown incident. According to Fightful Select, Karter has returned to AEW and is under a deal with the promotion. Karter had previously wrestled for AEW in 2021.
Opinion: I’m not sure if Karter is going to be the next big thing in AEW but he does have a good look to him and some skills in the ring. That being said, AEW’s roster is already completely overloaded anyway and there is very..

Ouch: Nasty Injury Takes Place During AEW Dynamite Main Event

It’s the nature of the match. There are a lot of match types in wrestling and some of them are a lot more violent than others. Some of those matches are designed to be as violent as possible, particularly in matches between people who can’t stand each other. It can make for some serious violence, which is on top of the inherent danger of wrestling. That was the case again this week.
The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite saw Chris Jericho defeat Eddie Kingston in a barbed wire match. The match saw barbed wire around the ring with both wrestlers using it throughout the match. Jericho has since taken to Twitter and revealed that he suffered a broken nose during the match, though it is not clear when in the match it happened. There is nothing to suggest that Jericho will be missing any ring time.
Just left the doctors office. It’s official….that SAVAGE @MadKing1981 broke my nose last night. #barbwireeverywhere @AEW pic.twitter.com/1TVUxjUVZx

Seth Rollins Discusses Hearing Cody Rhodes’ Music At WrestleMania 38, more

WWE superstar Seth Rollins was recently interviewed by Stephanie Chase of Digital Spy, where he discussed several topics. Among them were facing Cody Rhodes at Wrestlemania 38, when we can expect a reunion of The Shield and more.
Below are some highlights from the interview:
On hearing Cody Rhodes’ music at Wrestlemania 38:
“I just didn’t think it was ever going to happen, or maybe I didn’t think it was ever going to happen so soon. I suppose I always thought maybe Cody would come back, but I didn’t think it was going to be as quickly as it happened.
“So to hear his music ‘Kingdom’ over the speakers and that entrance specifically, the presentation of the American Nightmare in a WWE setting, it was pretty surreal to be standing in the middle of the ring.”
On Rhodes tearing his pectoral muscle:
“It was pretty gnarly,” Rollins said. “I don’t think I expected it to look like that. I’ve had some torn muscles in my day, and I know that the blood seeps down, gravity just takes over, but..

The Undertaker Appears at San-Diego Comic Con 2022

Appear In Peace. At this morning’s WWE panel discussion at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con, The Undertaker made a surprise appearance to join the group that was already on stage.

According to a report from Ringside News, The Undertaker made a surprise appearance after a 45-minute session in room 6A of the convention center, presented by Mattel. Many fans mistook the Deadman’s entrance song for the reveal of a retro mid-’90s Monday Night Raw Undertaker figure and were caught off guard when the WWE Hall of Famer appeared out of nowhere.
He then continued to assist and introduce the remainder of the Mattel WWE collection, much to the pleasure of the WWE Universe fans in attendance and the WWE Superstars on stage. Other stars that were on stage included Cody Rhodes and Tomasso Ciampa.

We’re coming off of a title change last week as Mark Coffey FINALLY took the Heritage Cup from Noam Dar, ending his record reign. After the match, Joe Coffey made his return to celebrate with his brother as things seem to be going well for Gallus for a change. Let’s get to it.
We open with a recap of Mark Coffey’s win last week.
Opening sequence.
Isla Dawn vs. Fallon Henley Henley forearms away to start and hits an elbow to the face before armdragging her into the ropes. That means a forearm to the face but Dawn sends her into the corner to take over. A running kick to the chest gives Dawn two and we hit the cross arm choke. Henley fights up and drives her into the corner for the break, only to get kicked in the head. Dawn hits a half nelson slam for the pin at 5:13.

REVIEW: PWG Zombies Shouldn’t Run: They’re Faster Than Zombies

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be?

It’s back to PWG as I continue my efforts to go through my pile of downloaded shows. This is a show from a rather long time ago but you are probably going to know a lot of the people on this show. That can make these shows that much more fun as I have no idea what to expect here. Let’s get to it.
Keep in mind that I know very little about the promotion so I’m..

Wrestler’s Remorse: Seth Rollins Apologizes After Bad Interaction With Fans

Can you blame him? Wrestlers are a rare breed in that they do their jobs right in front of your eyes. That is more than difficult as there are no second changes to get things correct. At the same time, wrestlers are also expected to stay in shape for the ring, which makes free time that much more difficult to come by. That was evident recently, and now a star feels the need to apologize.
WWE’s Seth Rollins took to Instagram to apologize to some fans that he was “very harsh and abrupt” with during a recent workout. Rollins said that some fans ran into he and his wife Becky Lynch in the middle of a long workout. He apologized for his reaction and said he would love to do so as well in person. Rollins also said that if you see him at his wrestling school, he’s willing to take a picture or talk to fans, though they may have to wait until he is done teaching or working out.

It’s A Painful Game: What Happened After Violent Ending To AEW Dynamite

That could have gone better. There are a lot of match types in wrestling and some of them are built more on violence than anything else. These can be the big finale for a feud and that can make for some rather big moments. It can be better when it is a match type that you do not see happen very often, which was the case again this week. As it turns out, there was more to it after the show was over.
The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite was a barbed wire match between Chris Jericho and Eddie Kingston, with Jericho winning. After the match, Kingston attacked Jericho again and sent him from the apron onto a barbed wire board on the floor. According to PWInsider.com, following the show, Jericho was removed from the barbed wire and taken from the arena on a stretcher.
Opinion: That is the way such a night should end, as Jericho was in a very violent and bloody match and shouldn’t have been able to leave on his own. I’m not sure why the post match angle needed to take place so soon af..
