Several NXT Superstars have made themselves known to the WWE Universe on RAW and SmackDown Live over the past few months. In fact, a number of these Superstars are expected to transition into full-time members of the main roster in the coming months. This includes Lars Sullivan. As some fans may recall, Sullivan has been promoted as coming to the main roster since Survivor Series last year. In fact, it has long been reported that Sullivan was intended to start a storyline with John Cena prior to the Royal Rumble that would’ve resulted in a WrestleMania bout between the two. That match has now obviously changed- with Cena likely having a ..

Jim Ross Opens Up About His WWE Departure

It was recently confirmed that legendary commentator and WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross would be departing WWE yet again. He has now opened up about that departure. Ross initially confirmed he would be ending his relationship with WWE amicably during his podcast. The commentator had returned to WWE during WrestleMania 33 and was used sparingly throughout this run with the company. In a definitive message to his Instagram account, Ross reminded his followers that there is no animosity between he and WWE. Rather, he is grateful for everything the company and, in particular, Vince McMahon has done for him. It is, quite simply, time for him to move on to the next chapter. He had the following to say: “Sad to see how some are looking for “dirt” as to why I will no longer be with WWE. WWE and I are parting ways with no animosity. As I said on my podcast on Westwood One, I can’t thank Vince McMahon enough for how he looked over Jan and me for the last 25+ years. I will be forever grateful. ..

WWE Hall of Famer to Donate Brain to CTE Research

The past few years have educated the wrestling world on concussion-related injuries. Specifically, research into Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) has helped athletes all over the world understand the effects of such incidents as concussions on their body. CTE is known to be a progressive degenerative disease often found due to repetitive brain trauma. This is consistent with athletes such as football players and, as you could imagine, wrestlers. Christopher Nowinski, the co-founder and President of the Concussion Legacy Foundation (CLF) was a guest on a recent edition of Busted Open Radio. During the show, Nowinski went into detail as to what the foundation does and what work they’ve been able to accomplish. Before ever being involved in research, Nowinski was a finalist on Tough Enough many years ago. He debuted on TV for WWE in 2002 but was forced to retire late 2003 to early 2004 due to a post-concussion syndrome. In fact, Nowinski helped with the discovery of CTE and was t..

Injury Update On Tommaso Ciampa After SmackDown Live. How Bad Is It?

Well it could have been worse. You never know when someone is going to suffer an injury in wrestling. Some of them can be a lot worse than others, but when you have someone who has already suffered a severe injury in the first place, it makes things even worse. It makes the waiting period after someone gets hurt all the worse as you never know what it’s going to be. That was the case on Tuesday, but now we know some more. According to Ringsidenews.com, Tommaso Ciampa is not severely injured after what looked to be a bad spot on SmackDown Live. On this week’s show, Ciampa suffered a scary moment as his knee seemed to buckle on a sunset bomb to Sheamus during a tag match. Ciampa immediately grabbed his knee and had to tag out, though he did finish the match. Back in 2017, Ciampa suffered a torn ACL that put him on the shelf for nearly a year. It could have been worse. Check out the tag match in question: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: That’s a huge relief. Now th..

That’s Some Late Notice. WWE Changed A Pay Per View Match After It Already Started.

This is ridiculous. We’ve all heard stories about WWE changing the script for Monday Night Raw in the middle of the day, usually just a few hours before the show is set to go on the air. It creates quite the sense of chaos and can mess up almost everything that has been set up already. Well now it turns out that things have gone a step further on an even bigger stage. According to Wrestling Observer Live, WWE made a change to the first match at the Elimination Chamber pay per view after the show was already underway. The announce team received a new format sheet with a changed finish, though it isn’t clear if the change was to the Kickoff Show match or the pay per view opener, though the Women’s Tag Team Title match seems more likely. There is no indication if the winner was changed or just the way the eliminations took place. So this is version two? Check out some highlights from Sunday’s awesome title match: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I don’t know how thi..

Tye Dillinger Officially Asks For His WWE Release. Has It Been Granted?

Can you count to ten? Over the last few weeks there have been very few stories more interesting than a huge group of WWE wrestlers trying to get a release from WWE. While none of them have been successful yet and there have been some questions about how accurate some of the requests have been, we now have one that is straight from the horse’s mouth. Or wrestler’s fingers in this case. In a new post on his Instagram, Tye Dillinger says that he has requested his release from WWE. While he doesn’t say one way or another, the way he words the statement makes it sound like the request was granted. Dillinger has been on the main roster for just shy of two years and has had rather limited success, with his high point being a few shots at the United States Title. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ronnie Arneill (@wwedillinger) on Feb 19, 2019 at 9:00pm PST This was as great of a debut as you could have had. Get Your Brackets Ready. WWE Announces A New Tournament For A WrestleMania Title Shot.

They sure love these things. WWE knows how to run a tournament. Last year, the company presented more than ten tournaments and has already done one this year with Worlds Collide. It’s a simple concept that can be played with to a variety of levels so it’s understandable why so many of them take place. As it turns out, WWE has already announced and started another one, with WrestleMania implications. This week on 205 Live, General Manager Drake Maverick announced an eight man tournament, with the winner receiving a title shot against Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy at WrestleMania 35. Only half of the field has been announced so far, with Drew Gulak, Brian Kendrick, Tony Nese and Kalisto set to compete next week. There is no word on who the other four entrants will be. Here’s everything we know so far. Check out Maverick’s official announcement: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is about as good of an idea as they had as it’s not like there are many options..

Smackdown Live Tag Team Championship Match Set For Fastlane 2019

Welcome to the Uso Penitentiary. At the recent Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, Jimmy & Jey Usos defeated Shane McMahon & The Miz to capture the WWE Smackdown Live Tag Team Championships. It marks their sixth reign as title holders in the company. But who will they be facing next? That question was answered tonight on the show, as it was revealed that McMahon and Miz will get their rematch at the upcoming Fastlane pay-per-view. You can see a clip of the match being made below: [This post contains video, click to play] Editor’s Opinion: This makes sense for a number of reasons. First, not only will the match take place in The Miz’s hometown of Cleveland, Ohio, but his dad will be in the audience watching the match. Second, this could be an opportunity to set up a match between the two at WrestleMania, should that be the direction that the company wants to go. We will have to wait and see! Are you looking forward to the rematch between The Usos and Shane McMahon & The Miz at Fas..

It’s Running Wild. Daniel Bryan’s Fastlane Opponent Named.

Give the people what they want, even at Fastlane. Over the last week, no one in wrestling has been hotter than Kofi Kingston. While Kingston has been around WWE for a very long time, he’s only now starting to move towards the main event scene. That included a heck of a run in the Elimination Chamber on Sunday, but he couldn’t seal the deal. Now though, he has a second chance. This week on SmackDown Live, Kingston was named the new #1 contender for the WWE Championship and will face Daniel Bryan for the title at Fastlane on March 10. Kingston pinned Bryan in a six man tag on Tuesday to earn the shot, a week after pinning Bryan in a gauntlet match last week. This will be the first time Kingston has challenged for the WWE Championship in a singles match. Kingston was fired up on SmackDown Live. Check out what he had to say: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: It’s not like there was another option here. Kingston is on fire at the moment and is the only option that woul..

Kofi Kingston Not Likely For WWE Title Shot At WrestleMania, Huge List Of Options Currently Being Considered

A who’s who. Over the weekend at Elimination Chamber, Daniel Bryan was taken to the limit inside the show’s namesake match as he defended the WWE Championship. While Bryan survived and left as champion, a new star emerged as veteran Kofi Kingston came within a single pancake of becoming champion. With WrestleMania right around the corner (across the street from Fastlane), who might be next in line for a title shot? According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Kingston is currently not in line for a WrestleMania 35 title shot. Instead, WWE is looking at a list of other options for the shot, including Bray Wyatt, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Kurt Angle, Undertaker, John Cena and Batista. I’m Glad You Mentioned That. WWE Adds A New Detail To Women’s Tag Team Titles.

That’s an important detail to mention. On Sunday night at Elimination Chamber, the Boss N Hug Connection of Sasha banks and Bayley became the first ever WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. This was quite the step forward for both WWE and the women’s division, which hasn’t had Tag Team Champions in about thirty years. With the new titles come a new detail though, which is quite the change of pace. This week on Monday Night Raw, Banks and Bayley made their first comments as champions and mentioned that they would be defending the titles on Monday Night Raw, SmackDown Live and NXT. This is the first mention of NXT being a possible destination for the titles, as only the main roster shows have been mentioned so far. Vintage Farewell? WWE Preparing For Michael Cole’s Eventual Departure From Commentary.

Uh, so long? Believe it or not, Michael Cole has been around WWE for about twenty two years now. Having debuted as a replacement for Todd Pettengill, Cole has become a fixture on WWE television, having been the main voice of Monday Night Raw for over ten years now. At some point, that has to end though and it seems that WWE is already starting to look in that direction. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is making preparations for Cole’s eventual departure from the commentary desk. There is currently no word on when Cole is planning on leaving, and it may be years down the road. At the moment, it isn’t clear who will be getting Cole’s spot when he leaves, though Tom Phillips seems to be the most likely candidate. Here’s one you probably haven’t heard. Check out Cole’s entrance video, complete with a very catchy song: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I know he’s not the most popular guy in the world but Cole is someone who is going to be mi..

How Bad Is It? Update On AJ Styles’ Physical Status.

Even Phenomenal Ones can have some issues. As great as any wrestler is, they can’t fight father time. Over the course of the years, injuries are going to pile up, either through the course of something big or just simple wear and tear. When you’re a top name who is getting in the ring night after night, those injuries are going to take a toll. That’s the case with a big name at the moment. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, AJ Styles worked the Elimination Chamber match with an undisclosed injury. While it isn’t clear what is wrong with Styles, he isn’t currently scheduled for any time off. Styles has wrestled or appeared on most episodes of SmackDown Live in recent weeks, including wrestling in a gauntlet match last week and in the Elimination Chamber over the weekend. This isn’t going to help things. Check out Styles taking a really painful looking RKO inside the Elimination Chamber: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I can’t say I’m surprised as Styles has b..

Tomorrow’s Superstars Tonight. Four A List NXT Stars Make Main Roster Debuts.

Well hello there. Over the last several years, NXT has become the hottest wrestling promotion in the world with one classic match and show after another. A lot of fans wonder how WWE and NXT can be the same company as the products are so vastly different, but it can make for some entertaining television either way. Now though, some of the stars are ready to move up to the main roster, at least for one night. This week on Monday Night Raw, Triple H announced that Ricochet, Aleister Black, North American Champion Johnny Gargano and NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa will be making their in-ring debuts on the show in separate matches. Monday Night Raw Date: February 18, 2019 Location: Cajundome, Lafayette, Louisiana Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Renee Young We’re done with Elimination Chamber but since March is a work month, we have less than three weeks before Fastlane. I have no idea what they’re supposed to do to headline Fastlane if Becky Lynch is currently suspended and Seth Rollins is being held out of the ring, but there’s a good chance they could drop the suspension so she can face Charlotte. They’ve done faster turnarounds before. Let’s get to it. In Memory Of Pedro Morales. Here’s HHH top open things up. HHH says it’s that time of year and we’re on the Road to Wrestlemania. The last twenty four hours should be proof of how important this time is with stuff like Sasha Banks and Bayley becoming the first ever WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Or Finn Balor winning the Intercontinental Title. Or Kofi Kingston getting that close to winning the WWE Championship. The fans like that more than anythin..

Ring Of Honor TV Results – February 13, 2019

Ring of Honor Date: February 13, 2019 Location: Center Stage Theater, Atlanta, Georgia Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Colt Cabana, Caprice Coleman We’re still down in Atlanta and this time around it’s an old school feeling with the NWA World Title on the line as champion Nick Aldis defending against PJ Black. Neither of them are exactly regulars around here, but that’s never stopped ROH when guest stars are involved. We should be getting ready for a big show around here, though it’s kind of hard to tell which one it is around here. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. John Skyler, Corey Hollis and Josey Quinn (also not regulars) are in the ring and say they deserve the attention. No six man team can beat them, and here are some people to challenge that theory. John Skyler/Corey Hollis/Josey Quinn vs. Villain Enterprises Before the match, Marty Scurll says he used to be like the three of them because they’re not a bit jaded. He’s sure the three of them are going to make a huge impact, b..
