Former Impact Wrestling Champion Officially A Free Agent

•

Sometimes you need to move on. The wrestling world has been changing a lot as of late and some of the moves have made things a lot more interesting. One of the biggest changes has been the movement of wrestlers from one promotion to another as it can be fascinating to see where someone winds up. We might be finding that out again as someone is taking their leave. Former Impact Wrestling Knockouts Tag Team Champion Kiera Hogan has announced that she is finishing up with Impact Wrestling after this week’s television tapings. The announcement was made on her OnlyFans account courtesy of Wrestlinginc.com. There was no reason given for her departure, other than Hogan saying she wanted to see what else is out there. Hogan is best known for her time as part of Fire N Flava with Tasha Steelz, with the team becoming the only two time Knockouts Tag Team Champions. She has been with Impact Wrestling since 2017. Hogan was good in Impact Wrestling. Check out what she did there: [This post contai..

Even though she has appeared multiple times with the company, she was officially a member of NWA’s roster. Welcome to the team…@ThunderRosa22 is #AllElite pic.twitter.com/GcvAds6ANx — All Elite Wrestling (@AEW) July 22, 2021 According to a report from Wrestling Inc., AEW was able able to sign with the company, even though her NWA contract ran through the year. Rosa was to become a free agent in 2022 and was excited about this possibility. Rosa made her AEW debut back on the September 2, 2020 episode of Dynamite, while she was still the NWA World Women’s Champion. She defeated Serena Deeb that night, but then would lose to then-AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida at All Out just three days later. Crowd Forces Karrion Kross Segment To Be Reshot, Crew Lies To Fans

•

That’s how you get them to stay. WWE has been in a bit of a weird place as of late, as they now have fans back in attendance but also need to come up with a way to keep them watching. The honeymoon period is only going to last for so long and it does not help when the promotion makes some interesting decisions. That was the case this week and WWE had a bit of an odd solution. Earlier this week on Monday Night Raw, Jeff Hardy defeated reigning NXT Champion Karrion Kross in one minute and forty seconds. This was Kross’ first pinfall loss in WWE, either on NXT or a main roster show. According to Bodyslam.net, a Kross segment had to be retaped at this week’s NXT, as the fans chanted HARDY throughout the interview. A source said that the segment was shot at the end of the night, with a member of the production crew telling him that something special was going to happen as a surprise, though nothing happened after Kross’ segment. Kross is worth a look. Check out what happened to him on Mon..

Lana Set For A Unique Non-Wrestling Role

•

That’s a new one. One of the biggest WWE stories of the year has been the amount of changes made to the roster. The company has moved all kinds of people in and out of the roster, making it look a good bit different than it did at the start of the year. Some of those wrestlers have since moved on to other promotions, but now one is moving on to something entirely different. According to Deadline.com, CJ Perry, formerly known as Lana in WWE, will be a part of the cast for a reboot of the Surreal Life on VH1. The show will see Perry and the rest of the cast living together in a mansion and completing tasks. The rest of the cast will include Dennis Rodman, August Alsina, Stormy Daniels, Tamar Braxton, Frankie Muniz, Kim Coles and Manny Mua. There is no word on when the show will premiere. Perry certainly has personality. Check out her better moments in WWE: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] ..

Run It Back: Major Title Rematch Set For NXT Takeover 36

•

That’s a huge one. If there is one thing you can almost guarantee in today’s WWE, it is the success of a Takeover card. NXT has figured out the Takeover formula to near perfection, to the point where it seems impossible for them to put on a bad edition. That is a nice situation to have and it seems that we are seeing it again, as the first match has been confirmed for the next Takeover. This week on NXT UK, NXT officials Triple H, William Regal and Shawn Michaels announced that Ilja Dragunov will challenge United Kingdom Champion Walter at Takeover 36 on August 22. This will be a rematch from their original title match in October 2020 where Walter successfully defended his title. The match was originally scheduled for this week but was postponed due to Walter suffering a hand injury. Takeover 36 will be held at the Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida. I would say this works. Check out the announcement and how we got here: [This post contains video, click to play] [This po..

RUMOR: Bad News For How WWE Views NXT

•

Three’s a crowd? WWE is the biggest and more powerful wrestling promotion in the world, to the point that they are regularly running four television shows, all with their own unique rosters. That alone is going to be tricky, as it can be difficult to keep track of everyone on every show. There is also a pecking order to the whole thing, and WWE has certainly figured it out. According to Jon Alba of Living The Gimmick, NXT is still considered the developmental show rather than the third brand of WWE. This comes after several instances of NXT being presented as a third brand, including winning the Battle For Brand Supremacy at Survivor Series 2019. Earlier this week, NXT Champion Karrion Kross made his Monday Night Raw debut, losing to Jeff Hardy in less than two minutes. Sources in #WWE tell me #WWENXT is officially viewed internally as "developmental," rather than the third brand as Paul Levesque's team has promoted over the past few years. Here’s The Funny Way A WrestleMania Story Was Started

•

It has to start somewhere. There are a few different kinds of stories that are always going to work in wrestling and they can get some nice reactions. Every now and then, you see something that works even better than expected and everyone comes out looking better than they did coming in. That was the case last year and it turns out that it only started because of a joke. One of the biggest stories at last year’s WrestleMania 36 was the budding romance between Mandy Rose and Otis. The two of them had seemed ready to get together for months but the combined forces of Dolph Ziggler and Sonya Deville kept them apart. It all came together at WrestleMania, but how did the whole thing get started? Now we know the surprising answer. In an interview with the Wrestling Inc. Daily, Levi Cooper, formerly known as Tucker in WWE and Otis’ former partner, revealed that the Otis and Rose romance storyline began as a rib on Rose’s then boyfriend Tino Sabbatelli. Otis would post jokes on social media,..

New Development In Summerslam WWE Title Match

•

Maybe later? We are on the way to Summerslam and you can already see some of the card coming together. While nothing has been officially announced yet, the show is in less than a month and that means it is time to start getting ready for the show. Some matches are all but made already, though for one of the biggest, we might be having a little bit of a delay on the way there. This week on Monday Night Raw, Goldberg returned and issued a challenge to Bobby Lashley for a WWE Championship match, with the match expected to take place at Summerslam. Later in the week, Lashley said that Goldberg did not belong in the same ring as him and said “no thanks, old man”. Should the match take place, it would be Goldberg’s second title shot this year, following a Royal Rumble title match. You don’t belong in the same world as me, let alone the same ring. Get that close again, @The305MVP won’t be able to hold me back. No thanks, old man. #WWERaw @WWE pic.twitter.com/OcIL2e9j6t — Bobby Lashley (..

KB’s Review: 27! 11! 16! WOO!

•

You (slightly) older fans might remember Rob Van Dam’s theme song from the Forcible Entry CD. The song was called One Of A Kind and the name summed up Van Dam perfectly: there was only one of him and no one else was like him. For the most part, that was absolutely correct. No one talked like him, no one acted like him and no one wrestled like him, especially with the jumps and kicks. One of a Kind was the perfect name for him, and it is a phrase that you have probably heard in a lot of different places. Now let’s tweak that just a little bit. Imagine if the phrase instead was twenty seven of a kind. That doesn’t have quite the same ring to it, as the more you have of something the less unique or special each one is. It is true in wrestling just like anything else, which should explain one of the bigger current problems (out of many) in WWE. Right now, twenty seven people hold titles in WWE. That’s three shy of a Royal Rumble or five shy of the amount of people who wrestled at the fir..

Velveteen Dream Booked For Return And Immediately Canceled

•

Dream off. Every now and then, a wrestler becomes far more infamous than famous. For one reason or another, something bad happens to someone and it becomes a lot bigger than whatever it is that they are going to be doing in the ring. Often times, this is something from outside of the ring, which was the case with a wrestler who almost got back in the ring. On Wednesday, SWF Wrestling announced that former NXT star the Velveteen Dream would be appearing at their September 11 Home Sweet Home event. Later in the same day, the promotion sent out another tweet saying that despite the promotion’s owner, Rob Fury, believing that any man can be slandered for something untrue, Dream will no longer be appearing at the show. Dream was released from WWE earlier this year, following a period of inactivity due to allegations of inappropriate contact with underage fans. WWE said that they had investigated Dream but found no evidence of any wrongdoing. While WWE did not find anything, Dream was rele..

REVIEW: Saturday Night’s Main Event #32: Make It Stop

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Saturday Night’s Main Event #32 Date: March 18, 2006 Location: Cobo Arena, Detroit, Michigan Attendance: 7,000 Commentators: Jerry Lawler, Jim Ross, Tazz And then there’s this, as we need a two hour commercial for Wrestlemania. The main event is a handicap match between the John Cena/HHH (the Raw main event) and Rey Mysterio/Kurt Angle/Randy Orton (the Smackdown main event), though it could wind up at any part of the show. There’s also Shawn Michaels vs. Shane McMahon in a street fight, which could have some strong p..

Former WWE Star Plans To Wrestle Match….On The Moon

•

Well that would be…different. Traditionally, wrestling matches take place in a ring with four sides and four posts. It is something that has worked for decades now and there is nothing to suggest is needs to be changed. Every now and then you see a match take place elsewhere and there have been some unique locations. Now one wrestler wants to do something completely different. nZo, formerly known as Enzo Amore in WWE, sent out a tweet saying that he wants to have a match on the moon. After seeing that the oldest person in history went into space this week, along with hearing that Jerry Lawler was still wrestling in his 70s, nZo said that one day he would have a match on the moon. nZo said that he wanted to face Finn Balor in the match, though Balor has not responded. Today, an earth woman at 83 years old became the oldest person to ever enter outer space. If Jerry ”The King” Lawler is still at it & wrestling into his 70’s. You can bet your ass, one day, I’ll wrestle on the moon. #..

RUMOR: Daniel Bryan Signs With AEW, Details On Debut

That would be a big one. There have been a lot of changes in wrestling over the last few years and a lot of them have made for some very exciting situations. One of the biggest changes has been the amount of wrestlers moving from one promotion to another. This has given us some great moments, and now we might be in for the biggest change of them all so far. According to Bodyslam.net, AEW has signed Daniel Bryan to a deal and Bryan is “locked in” to the company. The deal calls for Bryan to make money close to what he was making in WWE, be able to work in Japan, and to have some creative control over his character. Another report from Bodyslam says that Bryan is expected to debut at Grand Slam on on September 22 in New York City. This comes after Bryan’s WWE contract expired at some point after April 30, when he lost a Universal Title match against Roman Reigns on SmackDown. Bryan would be a huge get. Surprise Title Change Takes Place On AEW Dynamite

History has been made! Titles are an interesting thing in wrestling as there are so many of them around today that they might not have the same impact that they have had in the past. With so many titles around, you are only going to get so far with any of them. Some promotions have fewer than others, but one imports from another promotion. Now one of those imported titles has changed hands. This week on AEW Dynamite, Lance Archer defeated Jon Moxley in a Texas Death Match to become the new IWGP United States Champion. Archer defeated Moxley by chokeslamming him through a pair of tables with a barbed wire board on top. This is the pair’s second Texas Death Match, after Moxley defeated Archer to win the title on January 4, 2020 at Wrestle Kingdom 14 in Tokyo, Japan. Ring Of Honor TV Results – July 14, 2021

•

Ring of Honor Date: July 14, 2021 Location: UMBC Event Center, Baltimore, Maryland Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Caprice Coleman We are officially done with Best In The World, though I haven’t quite wrapped up the show itself. Thankfully Ring of Honor gives you a pretty nice cushion with the TV shows not meaning much for the next few weeks. Therefore, this show is likely going to be about taking care of some more minor stories that didn’t make the pay per view, so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Quinn McKay hypes up the pay per view. Dante Caballero/Joe Keys vs. Briscoes Caballero and Keys are both terrified coming in. Keys: “We’re gonna get our a**** whipped.” Mark and Keys start things off with Mark taking it to the mat in a hurry. It’s already off to Jay and we take an early break. Back with Jay hitting a basement dropkick and snapping off a suplex to give Mark one. Keys actually manages a belly to back on Jay, allowing the tag off to Caballero. Jay slips out of a slam though..

The recent shows have been pretty good as of late and I’m curious to see how well they can keep it up. Odds are they will, as they tend to do. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Spears Tully Blanchard is at ringside, MJF is on commentary Spears can use a chair but Jericho can’t. Jericho knocks him down to start but gets the chair taken away from him. That means Spears can chop him into the corner, only to be sent outside. A whip sends Spears into the barricade and Jericho heads back inside, leaving Spears to grab another chair. The triangle dropkick is cut off with a chair being pelted at the head. Jericho scores with an enziguri but gets belly to belly superplexed back down. S..

The battle continues. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full match between John Cena and Kevin Owens for the United States Championship from Battleground 2015. You can see the video in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: After absorbing some serious punishment from K.O. in the early goings of this anticipated rubber match, Cena caught Owens with an Attitude Adjustment, a maneuver that somehow only garnered a two-count. With frustration beginning to set in, Cena attempted to go high-risk, taking the challenger to the top rope for a superplex. Anticipating Cena’s next move, Owens reversed the maneuver, sending The Champ crashing down hard on his left shoulder. Cena reeled following that sickening impact, but this fight was far from finished. Dazed and visibly pained, Cena evaded a Pop-up Powerbomb from his opportunistic foe and again went for the Attitude Adjustment. However, Owens quickly countered with..

CM Punk Reportedly Negotiating For In-Ring Return

That would be a big one. There are certain wrestlers who have been away from the ring so long that it is almost impossible to imagine them actually coming back.
