He’s On The Loose: Former World Champion Becoming A Free Agent

He’s on the market. Wrestling is changing faster than it ever has before and that is a great thing to see in a lot of ways. One of the most important aspects of modern wrestling is how easy it is to see wrestlers from around the world. This allows promotions to see who else they might want to sign when they get the chance, and another person has been added to the free agent list. According to Fightful Select, Tom Lawlor’s contract with Major League Wrestling is expiring, with his recent loss in a casket match being used as a way to write him off of television. Lawlor is a former Major League Wrestling World Champion, as well as the winner of the Battle Riot and the Opera Cup. There is no word on where Lawlor will be signing next, though he is the current New Japan Pro Wrestling Strong Openweight Champion. You might need to get used to him. WATCH: Very Special Guest Announced For Halloween Havoc

It’s been done. Wrestling is a unique form of entertainment, as it exists in its own bubble, with a unique presentation that makes it feel different than anything else. It is rare to see wrestling cross over with over forms of entertainment, but it certainly can make for some unique situations. That is what we are going to be seeing again next week in a bit of corporate synergy. The USA Network has announced that Chucky, the doll from the Child’s Play franchise, will be guest starring on the October 26 Halloween Havoc special edition of NXT. There is no word on what Chucky will be doing on the show. This will be the second time that Chucky has appeared on a wrestling show, as he appeared on WCW Monday Nitro on October 12, 1999. This is something different. Two New Matches Set For WWE Crown Jewel

And then there were two. We are less than four days away from WWE’s Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia and that means the show is going to be one of the biggest of the year. The shows airing from the country are often stacked with one big match after another and that will be the case again this time. Now we know two more of the matches and both have something on the line. The finals of the King of the Ring and Queen’s Crown tournaments were officially set during this week’s Monday Night Raw. Xavier Woods defeated Jinder Mahal to earn the right to face Finn Balor for the King of the Ring. Later, Doudrop defeated Shayna Baszler, meaning she will face Zelina Vega. This year marks the first time that WWE has ever presented the Queen’s Crown tournament. This should work well. Check out how this week’s matches were set and what is on the line for the new King: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] ..

Ring Of Honor TV Results – October 13, 2021

Ring of Honor Date: October 13, 2021 Location: 2300 Arena, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Jay Briscoe, Mark Briscoe It’s time to start the build towards Final Battle and I’m not sure what that is going to mean. Ring of Honor has a weird fascination with waiting as long as they can to announce a card and I’m not sure how much we’re going to be getting before this show. That being said, this show has been pretty great lately so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Here’s what’s coming tonight. Soldiers of Savagery vs. Dalton Castle/Dak Draper The Soldiers are ready to hurt people while Castle and Draper, with the Baby Chickens, promise to show how good they are. Castle wrestles Khan down to start and we actually get a clean break. The technical stuff doesn’t work for Khan so he shoulders Castle down with straight power. That works for Castle, who suplexes him down and hands it off to Draper, who gets caught by the arm. Moses comes in and knees Draper in the rib..

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results – October 18, 2021

Monday Night Raw Date: October 18, 2021 Location: Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, California Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton It’s the go home show for Crown Jewel, though the audience is going to be decimated by a mixture of the MLB Playoffs and Monday Night Football. The card does include Charlotte defending the Raw Women’s Title against Bianca Belair, along with a rematch between Drew McIntyre/Big E. vs. Robert Roode/Dolph Ziggler. Let’s get to it. Here is Charlotte to get things going but she isn’t sure why there are no champagne and balloons for her final night on Raw. There is a conspiracy against her because Bianca Belair isn’t even on the roster yet but has two title shots this week! Charlotte: “AND YOU PEOPLE THINK I’M ENTITLED???” After dealing with the crown and various chants, Charlotte says Belair needs to get over it already because Charlotte is the mountain that she can’t climb. Belair can deal with Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks…or she can interrupt rig..

WATCH: WWE Teases Two Heel Turns At Live Event

Call it a tryout. There is more wrestling content available today than there ever has been before and that can create some problems for the wrestlers. There comes a point where the fans have seen almost everything a wrestler is going to do and that means it is time to shake things up a bit. That seems to be the case for a pair of WWE wrestlers, who tried something new over the weekend. Sunday night, WWE presented a live event in El Paso, Texas which included a tag team match between Shotzi/Nox vs. Natalya/Tamina, with Shotzi and Nox wrestling as heels. The team, which had been split up in the WWE Draft, wrestled together as babyfaces during their time on SmackDown. There is no word on if either of the two will be teaming together going forward or if either of them will be turning heel. This could be an interesting way to go. Check out the experiment, plus what the two of them can do together and on their own: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, clic..

WATCH: Controversial Wrestling Star Returns After Hiatus

Welcome back. Wrestlers are a unique form of athletes as you can see them stepping in and then back out of the ring almost out of nowhere. While mainstream athletes tend to stick around straight through their careers, some wrestlers start and stop at various points. It can make for some surprising returns, and that was the case again this weekend when a star came back. Former WWE and Ring of Honor star ACH returned to wrestling over the weekend at an Atlanta Wrestling Entertainment event. ACH returned with his GWC Championship and confronted Buddy Matthews. This comes after ACH stepped away from wrestling in June, with his most recent match taking place on May 7. There is no word on where ACH will be working next. That’s a cool return. Check out the full show (with audio not working until around 16:00) plus what ACH can do in the ring: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: ACH is a..

WRESTLING RUMORS: Special WWE Concept Returning Soon

Welcome home. Monday Night Raw has been around for a very long time now, with its first episode taking place on January 11, 1993. That is the kind of run that you never see in wrestling and it shows just how big a deal Monday Night Raw really is. WWE knows how to highlight its own history very well and they will have the chance to do that again in just a few months. According to Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Wrestling podcast, WWE will be presenting Retro Raw in January, with the exact date to be announced. The concept of the show is to bring back legends and past wrestlers for special appearances, often with the current roster. WWE has presented the concept or something similar several times over the years, including this year on January 4. From Source: Retro Raw is set to return in January.#WWE #WWERAW pic.twitter.com/zyaRcmCMye — Andrew Zarian (@AndrewZarian) October 18, 2021 There have been some cool versions of this over the years. WWE May Be Going Head To Head With AEW Again

They’re at it again. AEW has come a long way in a fairly short amount of time and has shaken up the wrestling world as a result. That is the kind of thing that we have not seen in a very long time and it is hard to know what to think of it most of the time. WWE certainly does not seem to know what to do about them most of the time but they might be trying something new. According to PWInsider.com, some cable systems are listing WWE Talking Smack airing at 10pm EST on Friday October 29 on Fox Sports 1, putting the show on at the same time as AEW Rampage. SmackDown is already scheduled to air on Fox Sports 1 the same night due to FOX’s coverage of the World Series. This comes after last week’s SmackDown was extended by half an hour to go against Rampage, which aired a special Buy-In show to oppose the second half of SmackDown. There is no word on if this would be a permanent move, as Talking Smack normally airs on Saturday mornings. Talking Smack has had its moments. Check out some of ..

Drew McIntyre Does Not Seem Happy With WWE Booking

He might be on to something. WWE is the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world, but it is not without its share of problems. There are a lot of issues to be dealt with, and one of the most common complaints you will hear about is the booking. Some fans have not seemed thrilled with the booking for a long time now and it seems that a top WWE star may be agreeing with them. WWE has announced that this week’s Monday Night Raw will feature a rematch of Big E. and Drew McIntyre teaming up to face Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode. The teams met two weeks ago on Monday Night Raw with McIntyre and Big E. winning. McIntyre has responded to WWE’s announcement, saying that he is a sucker for first time matchups. McIntyre is scheduled to challenge Big E. for the WWE Title at Crown Jewel later this week. Well I am a sucker for first-time matches https://t.co/Qbk11M62NW — Drew McIntyre (@DMcIntyreWWE) October 16, 2021 They do have a history. Check out their previous match and s..

Former WWE World Champion Seen Meeting With Impact Wrestling Boss

That’s sounding serious. WWE and AEW get most of the attention in the wrestling world but there are all kinds of other promotions out there, many of which have a lot to offer. Several promotions can easily be seen by the masses and that makes for some very nice opportunities for wrestlers around the world. One big name might be about to move on to one of them. According to PWInsider.com, former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman met with Impact Wrestling executive Scott D’Amore over the weekend. The two met at a hotel bar in Detroit, where the Motor City Comic Con was being held. The meeting was said to last for “a long time” and comes after Strowman has reportedly been in negotiations with Impact Wrestling. Impact Wrestling has been working on surprises for next Saturday’s Bound For Glory event. He might be bound for Impact. Miro Is NOT Happy With Being Left Out Of AEW’s #1 Contenders Tournament

He probably should be mad. Every now and then, you find a wrestler who gets your attention with the right character. Something has changed and all of a sudden, the character who has always shown potential is suddenly acting on that potential and everything is clicking. That is the case in AEW, but said wrestler is not exactly thrilled with how things are going. This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite concluded with the announcement of the World Title Eliminator Tournament. There were eight wrestlers included in the field, with the tournament starting next week. Former TNT Champion Miro was not included though, and complained about it on Twitter, asking if AEW was mocking them because he should be champion. Miro has not wrestled since losing the TNT Title on September 29. ARE YOU MOCKING ME? I SHOULD BE CHAMPION. pic.twitter.com/CcFTkugbci — Miro (@ToBeMiro) October 17, 2021 How do you not want to give him a shot? WWE Star Loses Title (And More) Over The Weekend

I hope she kept the receipt. Wrestlers are a weird breed as they have a lot of things to keep track of every day. In addition to being in the ring, they are required to go from one town to the next multiple times a week while mainly living in and out of hotels. That can be rather difficult to manage, and now something has gone wrong that was not even the wrestler’s fault. WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Rhea Ripley has asked for help finding her lost bag in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Ripley said that the bag contained her ring gear, as well as her Tag Team Title belt. She also asked if any fans see her gear being sold online to please let her know. Ripley was in New Mexico for a live event on Saturday night. There is no word on if she will have other gear for her next televised appearance. *LOST GEAR BAG* My MosherZ of Albuquerque I know this is a stretch but, if any of you have seen a black travel suitcase around Office Boulevard & Montaño rd please hold onto it and let me know. VIDEO: Buddy Murphy Has Found A Surprising New Home

He has a future. There have been a lot of moves and changes made to the WWE roster this year and some of them were more confusing than others. Some of the names made for some very odd releases and some of them had fans wondering where the wrestlers were going to go next. Most of the wrestlers have found new homes, and now another can be added to the list. New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced that Buddy Matthews, formerly known as Buddy Murphy during his time in WWE, will be making his debut for the promotion in November. Matthews has been confirmed for the Battle In The Valley event on November 13 in San Jose, California. No opponent has been announced. Since leaving WWE in June, Matthews has appeared at a few independent events. This could be good. Bryan Danielson’s Current Path Is Leading To The AEW World Championship

Bryan Danielson is hitting his stride in AEW. The American Dragon worked two of the toughest men in the industry on back to back nights and went over in both matches. First, Danielson battled Minoru Suzuki in a brutal war on the October 15 edition of Rampage. He then fought Bobby Fish in a highly competitive match on the following night’s Dynamite. In both instances, Bryan was definitely on his game. He’s reminding fans of just how good he is between the ropes. He’s also getting back to his catch wrestling roots, which made him a legend in Ring of Honor. There’s no doubt that Bryan Danielson is once again a killer in the ring. So is he on his way to the AEW World Championship? [This post contains video, click to play] Return Of The Dragon For many longtime fans, this is the Bryan Danielson that they’ve been waiting for. He’s deliberate with his strikes. He’s stiff with his kicks and he’s violent with his knees. Everything he hits looks painful and every time he runs, he’s full thr..

VIDEO: WWE Stars Take A Squid Game Challenge

That’s a sweet one. Every now and then, something in pop culture will capture the attention of all kinds of people at once. It might be a movie, a song or something else, but it is all anyone is talking about for a long time. You will often see a wrestling promotion try to tie something into such a trend, and WWE has done that as well in connection to a popular new show. WWE has released a video showing some of its stars taking the Honeycomb Challenge from the Netflix series Squid Game. The goal is to be able to cut a shape out of a piece of honeycomb without breaking the middle piece. Various wrestlers attempt to do so, with the majority being able to succeed. Of the group of wrestlers trying, only one of them fails to make it work. It’s a pop culture thing. VIDEO: AEW Star Takes Shots At NXT And SmackDown After Dynamite

A shot across the bow(ens). There are a lot of ways to get attention in wrestling and one of the easiest is by using a microphone. A wrestling cutting a promo can instantly get extra eyes on them because it can be done so quickly. Some wrestlers are excellent on a microphone and can get people listening to them in a hurry. That was the case again this week with some lines that will get people talking. AEW President Tony Khan made an appearance after this week’s edition of Dynamite went off the air. Khan was interrupted by the Acclaimed, with Max Caster delivering another rap. Caster threatened to beat Khan like AEW beat NXT in the ratings and said that the team could wrestle and were better than Top Dolla, referencing the former NXT star who is part of the Hit Row stable. This is going to get some attention. AEW Announces Full Details On World Title Eliminator Tournament, Big Names Involved

Get your brackets ready. Tournaments are one of the easiest concepts in all of wrestling as any fan can get the idea. You take a bunch of wrestlers, put them into a field and the last wrestler standing wins. They might win a championship, a title shot or some other kind of prize, but for the most part, they all work the same. That should be the case with another newly announced tournament. AEW is running another World Title eliminator tournament, with the winner earning a future shot at the AEW World Championship. The tournament will consist of eight wrestlers and begins next week on AEW television, with the finals taking place at Full Gear on November 13. This is the second edition of the tournament, with the first taking place last year. AEW has released the brackets for the tournament, as revealed on this week’s Dynamite: 10 Jon Moxley Orange Cassidy Powerhouse Hobbs Dustin Rhodes Bryan Danielson Lance Archer Eddie Kingston There are some potential winners in there. Surprising Title Change Takes Place On AEW Dynamite

History has been made! Titles are one of the most important parts of a wrestling show as they help identify the most important stars in the company. In theory, the best wrestlers are supposed to have the championships, which makes a lot of sense. Sometimes you even get to see some extra championships from outside the main promotion, and now some of them have changed hands. This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured the Lucha Bros defending the AAA Tag Team Titles against a surprise team. The challengers wound up being Las Super Ranas (the Super Frogs), who were revealed to be FTR under masks. FTR went on to win the titles after using one of the title belts, ending the Lucha Bros’ reign at over two years. The win marks FTR’s second title reign in AEW, after they won the AEW Tag Team Titles in 2020. The Lucha Bros are still the AEW Tag Team Champions. You might need to get used to the new champs. Check out FTR in action: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contain..

AEW Dynamite Results – October 16, 2021

Dynamite Date: October 16, 2021 Location: James L. Knight Center, Miami, Florida Commentators: Excalibur, Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, CM Punk We’re on a rare Saturday night due to the MLB playoffs and they are going to have a hard time topping what they did last night with Rampage. Tonight we see the brackets for the #1 contenders tournament, as Full Gear is less than a month away. Add in a AAA Tag Team Titles match and we should be good to go. Let’s get to it. Guest commentator CM Punk gets his big entrance. Here’s what’s coming tonight. Malakai Black vs. Dante Martin Lio Rush is here with Black. Some armdrags put Martin down to start but he sends Black outside. It’s too early for a dive though as Black comes back in and elbows him in the face. A powerbomb sets up a half crab to put Martin in trouble but he slips out in a hurry. That earns Martin and STO and shinbreaker, setting up a kneebar. Martin makes the ropes to escape and goes up top, only to have his springboard blocked. A s..
