Becky Lynch Breaks Character Over Cool Fan Tributes

That’s just nice. There are different ways to present wrestlers and some of them are more effective than others. For the most part, wrestlers are either good or bad with the goal of making fans cheer or boo them. That does not always work out as well as expected, but sometimes you see a villain do something nice because they just can’t help themselves. That was the case again this weekend. Becky Lynch posted a message to her Twitter on Sunday night, thanking all of the fans who dressed as her for Halloween. Lynch said she was humbled and honored and wished that all of the fans’ Halloween bags were filled with full size candy bars. This comes after Lynch has turned heel for the first time in several years in WWE and is scheduled to defend the Raw Women’s Title against Bianca Belair this week on Monday Night Raw. On another note, I have seen the many of you that have dressed up as Becky Lynch this year and I am humbled and honored. You all look fantastic. Happy Halloween and may your b..

WRESTLING RUMORS: AEW Planning To Bring Back A 1980s Special

Keep up the content. There is a lot of wrestling going today and thanks to modern technology, it is easy to see more of it than ever before. That can be a very good thing for fans, as they have never had this much content. It can also be exciting to hear that something new is coming, and now we know when that will be happening again in the new year. According to Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men podcast, AEW is planning to run a special show on TNT on January 8. The show would be similar to WCW’s Clash of Champions, but since WWE owns the rights to the name, AEW may call the event Battle of the Belts, a named used for a series of NWA specials in the late 1980s. There is no word on what might be on the card. Per Source: AEW is planning a TNT Special on Jan 8th. They're obviously not able to use the name "Clash of the Champions" due to WWE owning the rights… However, I'm hearing the possible name for this show will be "Battle of the Belts" A throwback to NWA/CFW from pic.twitt..

The Goat Of No Return? WWE Wants Brian Danielson Back

Reunion? There are certain wrestlers who just come off as nice people. Sometimes you find someone who appears to love wrestling and wants to do everything they can to make wrestling better. Having some excellent in-ring skills can be a bonus on top of everything else, and now WWE thinks they might be able to bring back someone who meets all of these qualification. Brian Danielson left WWE earlier this year and debuted in AEW in April and Fightful Select is reporting several details about his departure from the company. Danielson took part in the main event of this year’s WrestleMania 37 but was a last minute addition to the match. There were never any plans for Danielson to win the Royal Rumble and he was added as a bonus. Danielson would ultimately lose his final WWE match to Roman Reigns, which received praise for Danielson making the match as good as possible. WWE is also hoping that Danielson could return to the company in the future. Danielson debuted in AEW in September at All O..

Former WWE Champion Returning To The Ring After Injury

Welcome back. With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, it can be difficult to keep track of everyone involved. There are some who are going to stand out more than others and it can be easy to notice when one of them is gone. WWE has announced the card for its upcoming live events in the United Kingdom starting next week. WATCH: CM Punk Rips WWE Booking, Talks About Its “Formula”

I guess he isn’t happy. There are all kinds of changes taking place in the wrestling world these days and some of them are a lot more interesting than others. Perhaps the biggest in recent memory was CM Punk’s AEW debut, as Punk had been away from the wrestling world for over seven year. Now he is back, and believe it or not, he has something to say about what is happening in WWE. Punk was recently interviewed by Josh Martinez and spoke about what he described as the WWE booking formula. Punk mentioned that WWE has a history of bringing wrestlers back in and having them win the Royal Rumble before going on to main event WrestleMania, including Batista in 2014 and Edge in 2021. Both would go on to lose their WrestleMania title matches. Punk went on to say that he does not like such repetitive booking and wants to tell stories he finds fun. He made his AEW debut on August 20 and has gone undefeated since. Punk has been a force in AEW so far. Check out the interview and what he has been..

AEW May Have A Streaming Service In 2022

It would be a step. Back in 2014, WWE changed the way the wrestling world worked by launching the WWE Network. The company was suddenly opening their video vault, allowing fans to see so much of the material they have presented over the years for a cheap price. It was an amazing thing for wrestling fans, and now the company might be getting ready to look at some competition. During a recent edition of Ask Tony Live from Adfreeshows.com, AEW broadcaster Tony Schiavone said that he believed AEW would have its own streaming service by the end of 2022. While Schiavone acknowledged that he did not know this for a fact, he said that he believed it based on conversations he had been having with people in the company. Schiavone also said that he had heard AEW would eventually make it to HBO Max. AEW has done a lot in its brief history. WATCH: Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton From Hell in a Cell 2020

The viper strikes again. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full match between Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton for the WWE Championship from Hell in a Cell 2020. The match was contested in the structure of the same name. You can see the match in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: Orton controlled the battlefield with his signature deliberate pace, carefully calculating every move. McIntyre found a way to rally with a series of belly-to-belly throws, including a third that sent Orton crashing into a table. But The Viper’s plotting didn’t relent, and he used bolt cutters to escape the cell and began scaling it moments later, challenging McIntyre to pursue him. That appeared to be Orton’s plan all along, as he retrieved a lead pipe atop the cage, though McIntyre ducked his wild swing to thwart this particular scheme. While climbing down, both men struck each other repeatedly while clinging to the cell. Un..

WATCH: Bayley vs. Sasha Banks From Hell in a Cell 2020

The rivalry continues with a virtual audience. WWE has posted a new video to their YouTube channel, where they show the full match between Bayley and Sasha Banks for the Smackdown Women’s Championship from Hell in a Cell 2020. The match was contested inside the structure of the same name. You can see the match in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: Bayley arrived with her trusty steel chair, but the most experienced Women’s Hell in a Cell competitor in WWE history pulled it from her grasp and tossed it out of the lowering cell, leaving The Role Model without her equalizer. The champion resorted to a different weapon, opting for a Kendo stick, though Banks avoided it, and it marked the first of many attacks with foreign objects. The Boss wedged Bayleyagainst the cell with a table, scaling it before delivering a spectacular Meteora. Banks was far from finished, as she deployed unique offense and later sent Bayley face-first into the chain lin..

WATCH: Popular Wrestling Star Has A Broken Leg

That’s bad timing. There are certain wrestlers who catch your attention for one way or another and it can be fascinating to see what they do every time. Some of these wrestlers have not gotten the most mainstream coverage and it makes things almost more interesting to keep them on the lower levels. Now one of those wrestlers has suffered some bad news and he will be missing some time. Independent star Danhausen has revealed that he has broken a bone in his leg. Danhausen tweeted out a video from the hospital, showing himself in wrestling gear with his leg braced. Fellow independent star Warhorse is holding the camera in the video and tells Danhausen that he cannot fix the injury. There is no word on where the injury took place or how long Danhausen will be out of action. It’s never good to hear about something like this. Check out the announcement, plus some better moments of Danhausen: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post..

WATCH: Popular AEW Star Reveals Concussion Diagnosis

That’s never good to hear. There are so many people on the AEW roster but there are only a few who really get the chance to stand out. That could be for a variety of reasons and some of those are better than others. Sometimes though you see someone get over because of an incredible in-ring performance. It was certainly the case earlier this year, but now one of the wrestlers is out of action for a less than great reason. In a new vlog, AEW’s Thunder Rosa has revealed that she is currently out of action with a concussion. In the video, she mentioned being on her way to Dynamite to see if she could get cleared to get back in the ring. There is no word on when she was injured or when she will be back in the ring, though her most recent AEW match took place on the October 16 edition of AEW Dark. It’s a big deal. Check out what Rosa had to say, plus some of her time in the ring in AEW: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post cont..

WWE Superstar Gets One Of A Kind Recognition For Special Efforts

Add it to the list. WWE is known for a lot of things and some of them are less positive than others. However, there are a few things that they do rather well and it is cool to see them doing it again and again. That is certainly the case with their record on charity, as WWE has worked with a variety of groups over the years. Some of their individual wrestlers have as well, and now one of them has done something pretty big. Sligh Middle Magnet School has been renamed the Thaddeus M. Bullard Academy At Sligh Middle Magnet School, as named after WWE star Titus O’Neil. In a post on Instagram, O’Neil talked about what the dedication meant to him, saying that his association with the school is lifelong and he wants other students to have the same feeling that he had when he was in school. O’Neil has helped support the school over the years and promised to continue to do so. Congratulations to #WWE Global Ambassador @TitusONeilWWE on the unveiling of the Thaddeus M. Bullard Academy at Sligh..

Here Or There: WWE’s Plans For Recent Event Were Very Confused

You might need to get it together. There are a lot of moving parts in WWE and sometimes it seems like things are a little bit messy. You will see stories that suggest that WWE does not exactly have it together backstage, as it feels like there are communications issues abounding. It seems that was the case again, as a wrestlerwas written into a show without actually being around. Earlier this month, WWE held the second night of the 2021 WWE Draft. There were several moves made throughout the Draft, including more than one surprise. The final Monday Night Raw pick was used on Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson, who has yet to wrestle a match with WWE. According to Fightful Select, Steveson was listed on the show’s itinerary for the night and included him making an entrance. However, Steveson was not at the building and there is nothing to suggest he was ever scheduled to be there. Steveson is not expected to debut for the company until after college wrestling season ends in the sprin..

LOOK: Awesome Concept Art For Alexa Bliss And Bray Wyatt

Those are just awesome. Every now and then, you see a character in wrestling who catches your attention like no other. Fans can tell that they are going to be in for something that they have not seen before who lets you see a new direction for a character. Some of these are just downright awesome and it turns out that we almost saw two very different versions of two popular characters. Kyle. A Scarborough, a tattoo artist who helped design the Fiend’s mask, has tweeted out two pieces of concept art for characters who almost made it to WWE television. First up was a mixture of a mask/makeup that Alexa Bliss would have worn as a female version of the Fiend. The other is what would have been a humanoid Huskus the Pig, as an idea had been pitched to have the Firefly Fun House characters come to life, but only with Bray Wyatt playing them. Neither ever made it to television and Wyatt has been released from the company. Fun Fact: During the beginning of @AlexaBliss_WWE's run with #The..

Surprising Names Take Part In SmackDown Dark Matches

The next generation? WWE has a rather unique structure among wrestling promotions as they have their own in-house developmental system which also happens to air on national television. As a result, fans have seen the developmental wrestlers in action before they are called up to the main roster and have seen just how good they are. That was the case with some names who appeared before this week’s television show. According to PWInsider.com, there were a pair of dark matches before this week’s WWE Smackdown Taping, both of which featured NXT stars. First up, Raquel Gonzalez defeated SmackDown’s Toni Storm. Second, the Viking Raiders defeated the Creed Brothers, who had their Diamond Mine graphics but did not have their manager Malcolm Bivens. There is no word on potential callups for any of the wrestlers. That’s an interesting group. Check out the NXT stars in action plus what went down on this week’s SmackDown: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, cl..

VIDEO: Paul Heyman Tries To Get In A Match After SmackDown

The hot tag specialist. A manager can be one of the most valuable parts of a show as you can have them do all kinds of things. They offer something every time they are a part of a match and that can even mean getting in the ring at times. These situations are not always the most successful, but every now and then you get to see something that is truly different, which was the case this week. The post show dark match at this week’s WWE SmackDown taping saw the Bloodline face the Street Profits/Drew McIntyre in a six man tag. During the match, the Bloodline’s manager Paul Heyman took his jacket off and got on the apron. Heyman was tagged in and got in the ring, only to trip on the way in. Angelo Dawkins of the Street Profits attacked Heyman until Jey Uso made the save, sending Heyman outside as fast as he could. Heyman then leaned on the announcers’ table as Roman Reigns went over to check on him. Heyman was looking good for a bit. Check out what he did, plus some of his official time ..

Wrestling Star Appears On Game Show And Wins Big

I’ll take that bet. Wrestling is quite the good choice for television programming as wrestlers often make for great on-screen characters. They are often over the top and larger than life, or at least larger than most people around them. That allows for some entertaining moments, especially if you can get them out of the ring every now and then. That was the case again this week. Former WWE star Erick Rowan appeared on the game show You Bet Your Life this week. During the show, Rowan was mentioned as being a professional wrestler, including his loss to the Rock in six seconds at WrestleMania 32. Rowan and his partner won $5,500, the most a team can win on the show, by answering trivia questions about things associated with Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Rowan is still active, having wrestled on the independent circuit earlier this month. Drop the answer you think is right in the comment section, then tune in tonight to see if you and this unlikely pair of contestants, get the right answer!..

REVIEW: SmackDown – May 11, 2007: Edge’s Really Big Day

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Smackdown Date: May 11, 2007 Location: Mellon Arena, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield It’s a big show this time around with the Undertaker defending the World Title against Batista inside a cage. That alone should be enough to carry the show and….well that’s about what it’s going to do as that’s the only major thing set for the show. Unless you could spoilers that is, as WWE has already said what happens this time. Let’s get to it. The opening video looks at Undertaker v..

Monday Night Raw Star Announces Very Special Accomplishment

That’s a heck of an accomplishment. Wrestlers have a lot of things to do in their industry, including several championships. Some of them are more prestigious than others, but it means something to be able to put a title belt around your waist. At the same time though, there are other accomplishments that mean even more and have nothing to do with wrestling. A WWE star achieved one of them this week. Monday Night Raw star Chad Gable has announced that he has graduated from Full Sail University with a Masters of Fine Arts with a focus on Media Design. Gable graduated with a 4.0 GPA as the valedictorian and earned the Advanced Achievement Award for student most likely to succeed in their field. During the Coronavirus pandemic, Gable felt that he wanted to use some of the resources available to him, including a partnership between WWE and Full Sail University. Gable is currently part of the Alpha Academy with Otis on Monday Night Raw. Graduated… time to play Earthbound. Anyone else st..

WATCH: Big Changes For Two New SmackDown Wrestlers

Sometimes you need to mix things up. With so much wrestling available to be seen these days, there are only so many new ideas out there. At some point, fans have seen almost everything there is to see and something has to be changed up. That can be easier said than done, but you do see it fairly regularly. It is so common that it took place twice on the same show. This week’s edition of WWE SmackDown saw two major changes for different wrestlers. First up, Shotzi accepted Charlotte’s open challenge in a losing effort. Shotzi blamed Sasha Banks, who had been at ringside, for her loss and attacked her, turning heel in the process. Later in the show, Mustafa Ali was defeated by Drew McIntyre. Following his loss, Ali complained about the fans booing him and said that it was only due to his name being Mustafa Ali. There is no word on where this is going for Ali. It was an eventful night. Check out what happened to the two of them: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post co..

Details On Charlotte’s Backstage Heat In WWE

They took some time getting here. With so many talented wrestlers on the WWE roster, it makes sense that there are going to be some issues at some point. Eventually some people are going to rub each other the wrong way, but it can be even worse if one person rubs several the wrong way. That seems to be the case now, and it has been building for a long time. Last week, a story emerged about a backstage altercation between Becky Lynch and Charlotte. The issue began when Charlotte literally dropped the Raw Women’s Title as she handed it to Becky Lynch, which Lynch believed made her look bad. This caused a backstage backlash against Charlotte, but now we know a bit more about how bad things have been getting. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the backstage heat on Charlotte has been building for a long time. It is said to be several little things together, including Charlotte wrestling as a heel but doing babyface moves, such as dives. As a result, babyface women have had i..
