How Much? Sasha Banks’ New Japan Contract Reportedly Beats Chris Jericho’s

That’s a lot. One of the most up and down stories of this year has been that of Sasha Banks. After walking out on WWE in May, Banks has still yet to return and as of last week, was reportedly “done” with the company. Instead she will be heading to New Japan Pro Wrestling beginning in January, and now we know some more interesting details about the entire situation. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Major Update To Bobby Lashley’s Monday Night Raw Status According to Voices Of Wrestling, Banks will be appearing for New Japan on a per appearance basis, “at the highest price” that the company has ever paid anyone. This includes even more than Chris Jericho, who according to Wrestling Observer Radio, was making $100,000 per appearance, starting in 2018. Banks is set for multiple dates with New Japan, but she will be able to work on other projects, including AEW if she likes. There is no word on Banks working in any American promotions at the moment. I don’t think that was the plan. There are a lot of things that need to come together to make a wrestling match work but sometimes all of the planning in the world might not be enough. One little thing going wrong can cause some a major issue and that seems to have taken place again in a crucial spot of one of the bigger WWE matches to take place in recent memory. The opening match of Crown Jewel 2022 saw Brock Lesnar defeat Bobby Lashley in controversial fashion. Lesnar kicked out of the corner to land on Lashley for a pin, though Lashley’s shoulder was up. As a result, fans have voiced their displeasure with the finish on Twitter, with several being upset about how the match ended in controversy and should have gone in another way. Another Former WWE Star Returns To WWE As New Character

Welcome back. Over the last few years, WWE has released or let go dozens and dozens of wrestlers from its active roster, with the majority being attributed to budget cuts. Since Vince McMahon has retired though, several of those names have returned to the company in one way or another. That is the case again, as another name is being brought back in an entirely new role. This week on SmackDown, a vignette aired hinting at the return of the Viking Raiders. At the end of the vignette, a female voice was heard but no one was seen. According to Fightful Select, the segment was designed to re-introduce Sarah Logan, who is married to Erik and was released from WWE in 2020. Logan returned to WWE in a one night appearance at the 2022 Royal Rumble. Opinion: Cool. Logan is someone who seemed like she could have been a star if she was given the chance but never got a real shot. Vince McMahon Reportedly Fined Michael Cole For Using Three Letter Word On TV

It would only be from him. The biggest wrestling story of the year has been the retirement of Vince McMahon from WWE. For the first time in almost forty years, there is a new boss in the company and that means there are going to be some different rules in place. That means some of McMahon’s rules are gone, including one that got the voice of WWE in trouble one day. According to Brian Gerwitz in his book “There’s Just One Problem…: True Tales from the Former, One-Time, 7th Most Powerful Person in WWE.”, McMahon once fined Michael Cole for using the word “now” at the end of sentences. McMahon would fine Cole every time he used the word, which eventually was enough to make Cole stop using the word. Gerwitz did not mention the amount of the fine. Maxwell Jacob Friedman Reportedly Receives HUGE Raise From AEW

Well that would be more. There are a lot of stars in wrestling but there are only a few who are such natural talents that it can be hard to believe they are that good. You see these people every now and then and they rarely disappoint. It can be amazing to watch these people rise through the ranks, and now one of them is going to have a huge rise in his bank account. The end of AEW All Out saw the surprise return of Maxwell Jacob Friedman. Before Friedman came back to the ring, a voicemail played with AEW President Tony Khan announcing that Friedman was receiving an upgrade in pay but no specifics were given. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the raise will possibly give Friedman more than a million dollars a year. Former WWE Star Announces That His In-Ring Career Is Over, Moving Towards Broadcasting

His boots are hung up. Wrestlers have one of the strangest career paths in any industry as it can be rather difficult to get out of the industry. Since wrestlers can find work in a variety of places around the country, it can be easy to keep going for a bit longer than they should. You do see some wrestlers who are able to find a way out of the ring though and another one has done just that. Former WWE star Matthew Rehwoldt, better known as Aiden English, has announced that he will not be taking anymore in-ring bookings. Rehwoldt said that he does not feel like he belongs in the ring anymore and would rather focus on other areas. Instead of wrestling, Rehwoldt will be focusing on broadcasting and other industries, including voiceovers, gaming and esports. Occasionally you will see someone appear and have what makes them work best taken away, but this time it seems to have been returned. This week’s SmackDown featured a segment from Maximum Male Models, featuring Max Dupri. During his appearance, Dupri’s tone was changed from previous weeks, with more of a serious sound to his voice and less talking. This comes a week after Dupri was missing from the team’s segment, with his sister Maxxine taking his place. They help guide the fans in the right direction and give them the stories that the promotion wants to present. Having the correct voices out there is very important, and now WWE has locked up one of its more prominent voices for a good while. WWE has announced that SmackDown broadcaster Pat McAfee has signed a multi-year extension with WWE that will keep him with the company for the forseeable future. There is no word on how long the extension will last. McAfee has been broadcasting SmackDown since April 2021 and has also wrestled, defeating Theory at WrestleMania 38. You have to cover it. The biggest wrestling story of the year has been the investigation into Vince McMahon’s alleged affair and the resulting payment to cover it up. McMahon has stepped back from his role as WWE CEO and Chairman of the Board, with his daughter Stephanie taking his place. That puts Stephanie in charge and now she has had to cover a big part of her new job. According to PWInsider.com, WWE held an all hands on deck meeting earlier this week to address the Vince ordeal. Stephanie talked about the investigation, saying she loved Vince and would be doing everything she could for WWE going forward. This is one of several meetings that Stephanie has been a part of in Vince’s place since she took over his role with the company.
