Those are some big ones. There are certain stars in wrestling history who have eclipsed almost any other name and are among the all time greats. There are not very many of these wrestlers and you know them when you see them. It means a lot when one of them is able to come back and do something, even for one night, and now there is some speculation about another appearance. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Viper Memories: Randy Orton Posts Tribute To Umaga And Rosey Over the last few weeks, there have been teases of Steve Austin returning to the ring for one more match, possibly at WrestleMania 39. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, some of the possibilities for Austin would be brawling with someone like (though not certainly) Baron Corbin or Austin Theory ala WrestleMania 38, or a dream match. Possible dream match opponents would be Brock Lesnar, John Cena or Logan Paul, though it is not clear if these are names WWE is considering. The entire situation is still said to be in the ..
That’s a special tribute. There have been a lot of wrestlers to come and go throughout the years and unfortunately some of them are no longer here. That could be due to a variety of reasons but so many of them have left before they should have. Other wrestlers will remember them quite fondly and that is what Randy Orton is doing with a departed former WWE star. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Bianca Belair Has Her Eye On Very Specific Film Role Earlier this week, a fan posted a photo to Twitter showing presumable himself posing with Randy Orton and Umaga. Orton responded, thanking the fan for posting the picture and saying we are coming up on the anniversary of Umaga’s passing. He called Umaga the “OG head of the table” and also mentioned Matty Anoa’i (Rosey). Orton also said “So many memories. Too many brothers lost”. Umaga passed away on December 4, 2009 at 36. I’m very happy you posted this pic. I’ll save it. Anniversary is coming up where we lost the Samoan Bulldozer. I wish I was..
That’s a long time. WWE has a lot of good things going for it at the moment, including some very talented wrestlers. However, their roster is not as deep as it used to be and things can get worse in the blink of an eye. Sometimes you see someone get hurt and it takes them out of the ring for a good while. That is the case again, but it is in a bit of a bigger spot. Following WrestleMania Backlash and a beatdown from the Bloodline, Riddle announced that his partner Randy Orton would be out of action due to a back injury. According to Fightful Select, Orton’s back injury is worse than expected and he might need surgery, which would keep him out of action for the rest of the year. There is no word on what kind of injury Orton has or what he will do when he gets back. The originally planned Orton vs. Roman Reigns match at Summerslam is no longer part of WWE’s creative plans. Opinion: This is about as bad as the news could have been for Orton but what matters is that he is able to get thi..
A virtual hell. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full match between Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton from WWE Hell in a Cell 2020. This match was contested inside of the cell and was for the WWE Championship. You can see the match in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: Orton controlled the battlefield with his signature deliberate pace, carefully calculating every move. McIntyre found a way to rally with a series of belly-to-belly throws, including a third that sent Orton crashing into a table. But The Viper’s plotting didn’t relent, and he used bolt cutters to escape the cell and began scaling it moments later, challenging McIntyre to pursue him. That appeared to be Orton’s plan all along, as he retrieved a lead pipe atop the cage, though McIntyre ducked his wild swing to thwart this particular scheme. While climbing down, both men struck each other repeatedly while clinging to the cell. Unable to hold..
I mean, he has a point. Last week’s edition of Monday Night Raw was focused on Randy Orton, who was celebrating twenty years as part of the WWE. That is a number that almost no one reaches and it is very impressive to see anyone get that far. Orton has certainly earned the praise that he receives and he is still very good today. Now he is showing just how smart he can be too. Last month, Orton served as a lumberjack in a match between Sami Zayn and Drew McIntyre. During the match, McIntyre hit a running flip dive onto the lumberjacks at ringside. Before McIntyre was diving, a fan filmed Orton laying on the ground away from the pile. The fan asked Orton why he was down and he said he didn’t want to get landed on, as seen in a video that has made its way to Twitter. That’s a smart Viper. Check out Orton’s logical move: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is the kind of thing that you don’t get to see very often but shows how Orton is rather smart at what he does. ..
It suits them. There are certain wrestlers who are perfectly suited as villains and the fans can sense it. They know when these wrestlers are as vile as can be and they deserve to be booed. It makes sense for wrestling promotions to present them in ways that are going to draw as much heat from the crowd as possible and now two of the best around are getting additional help. Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti won the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Titles at TripleMania XXX on Saturday night, defeating Maravilla/Latigo, Sexy Star II/Komander and defending champions Los Vipers. Guevara came to the ring on a crutch and had Parka Negra take his place, only to use his crutch to beat everyone up and score a double pin with Conti to win the titles. He also offered to pay off the referee. #andNEW! I guess he was a fan. While there are a lot of wrestlers going today, only a handful reach the status of being a legend in their own time. Occasionally you will see someone reach that point though and it is a special thing to see. There are a few of those stars around today and one of the bigger ones got to do something this weekend that was more than a bit out of character for him. The main event of this week’s edition of SmackDown saw Drew McIntyre defeat Sami Zayn in a lumberjack match. Randy Orton served as one of the lumberjacks and he was still at ringside following the show when Bianca Belair came to the ring for a dark match. A video has been posted online, showing Orton dancing to Belair’s theme song as a way to hype up the crowd as he left ringside. Orton did not wrestle on the show. I didn’t know Vipers danced. Check out Belair’s entrance (Orton is waving the shirt): [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is the kind of thing that happens after WWE’s cam..
You think you know me. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full 2021 Men’s Royal Rumble match from the premium live event of the same name. You can see the match in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: Intent on settling score with The Viper, Edge walloped Orton with a steel chair during the match’s chaotic opening minutes. The attack left Orton limping and seemingly unable to continue, as referees assisted him to the locker room, where he was tended to by WWE’s medical team. With The Apex Predator thought to be out of the picture, the carnage continued inside the ring. Surprise entrants included former NXT North American Champion Damian Priest and the most dominant competitor in Royal Rumble Match history, Kane. Perhaps the biggest shocker of all was the arrival of former World Heavyweight Champion Christian at No. 24. Competing in his first true match since 2014, Christian was greeted with a hug by Edge..
Monday Night Raw Date: December 27, 2021 Location: Little Caesars Arena, Detroit, Michigan Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton It’s the final show of the year and that means it’s also the go home show for Day One. There are a few big stories this week, including the renewal of Miz and Maryse’s wedding vows, but we also get to find out how the Coronavirus outbreak has impacted the roster. Let’s get to it. Here is RKBro for a chat. Riddle, in a party hat, talks about how the team had a good year but Randy Orton won’t read a Christmas card. Orton wants to beat Otis right now to make sure he has a good new year, but Riddle wants to look forward to the future. Next year could see them patent Brogurt! Last week Riddle was thinking about the future and thought he turned into a viper but Orton doesn’t want to hear about it. Instead he asks to see a clip from last week, which has Riddle wondering what Orton means by “production truck”. Anyway, Otis might be non-RKOable, so ..
The viper strikes again. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full match between Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton for the WWE Championship from Hell in a Cell 2020. The match was contested in the structure of the same name. You can see the match in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: Orton controlled the battlefield with his signature deliberate pace, carefully calculating every move. The Maharaja defends his title. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full match between Jinder Mahal and Randy Orton for the WWE Championship at the 2017 Money in the Bank pay-per-view. You can see the match in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: The Modern-Day Maharaja didn’t just defeat The Apex Predator to retain the WWE Championship he won in shocking fashion last month at WWE Backlash, he did it in front of Orton’s hometown crowd and a cadre of “St. Louis Legends” at ringside that included Greg Gagne, Larry “The Axe” Hennig, Baron Von Raschke, Sgt. Slaughter, Ric Flair and The Viper’s father, “Cowboy” Bob Orton. With that kind of support, Orton was feeling it from the second he walked through the curtain, and the crowd’s chants of “RKO” very nearly willed The Viper to hit his fearsome finishing move just seconds into the match. But thanks to an assist from The Singh Brothers, Orton found himself flip..
Monday Night Raw Date: June 28, 2021 Location: Yuengling Center, Tampa, Florida Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton We’ll wrap up the first half of the year as we are on the way towards the Money In The Bank. A lot of the spots have already been filled in and this week we are finishing up the Raw’s men’s qualifiers with a triple threat match. I’ll take that over the building momentum matches so let’s get to it. Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville tell us that Randy Orton is out of the triple threat match for reasons beyond WWE’s control. Therefore we are going to have a battle royal for the spot….but here is Riddle with a (football shaped) letter from Orton, saying Riddle should get the spot. The bosses think Riddle wrote the letter, mainly because most of these words aren’t real and there is a viper drawn in the corner. Riddle offers to wrestle on Orton’s behalf and giving Orton the spot if he wins. Deal. Battle Royal Riddle, Erik, Ivar, Jinder Mahal, Angel Garza, R-Tr..
One of the focal points of Raw over the past few weeks has been the feud between Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre. They will compete for the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania, but The Viper has been taking out WWE legends with his punt as of late, in order to further his claim that he is as dangerous as they come and truly is the “Legend Killer”. Tonight on Smackdown, it was announced that Shawn Michaels will be returning to Raw this coming week, in order to confront Orton. Orton eliminated his mentor, Ric Flair, by hitting him with the punt in the final segment of Raw last week. You can see the promo video and the attack below: Editor’s Opinion: You know that this is going to end with Michaels on the receiving end of a punt as well. I will say that the segment between Orton and Flair last week was some of the most compelling television that WWE has produced in quite a while. I cannot wait to see how HBK will defend his friend and mentor. Are you looking forward to seeing the Legend S..
A pre-cursor to the present. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the House of Horrors Match from Payback 2017 between Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton. You can see the match in its entirety below: From WWE.com: From the moment Orton was driven up to the House of Horrors, he encountered a series of terrorizing sights. When he dared to approach the house, Orton spotted Wyatt in the window and proceeded to kick the door open. There, The Viper stepped into a dwelling filled with truly unspeakable evil. Among the dark distractions that filled every corner and shadow of the space, The Eater of Worlds appeared from nowhere and unleashed an all-out assault, dismantling both his opponent and the house. Whenever Orton managed to gain an advantage, Wyatt would disappear, then use the interfering horrors of his establishment to regain the advantage. The first part of this showdown culminated in the House of Horrors’ kitchen, where both Superstars ruthlessly brawled ..
NXT UK Date: March 12, 2020 Location: Coventry Skydome, Coventry, England Commentators: Andy Williams, Nigel McGuinness We’re on a fresh taping cycle and that means we’re on the way towards Dublin for the next Takeover. You can probably guarantee a Finn Balor vs. Walter United Kingdom Title match and that could be a heck of a showdown. The rest of the show is yet to be built but they still have time to get there. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Here’s Balor to get things going. He’s not here because he wants to boost the ratings but because he wants Walter. Therefore, here’s Walter, but the rest of Imperium follows him out. They come in after him but Balor nails a Sling Blade and bails in a hurry for fear of being destroyed. Viper got involved in the I Quit match because she couldn’t let Kay Lee Ray cripple Toni Storm. Ray is evil and Viper isn’t standing for that. Video on Tyler Bate. Pretty Deadly vs. Dereiss Gordon/Dan Moloney Stoker and Howley throw their shirts at them to..
WWE’s Apex Predator has a lighter schedule than most wrestlers with the company, but the reason why you haven’t seen Randy Orton on SmackDown Live recently is due to an injury. It has been reported that Orton has undergone knee surgery for a meniscus tear. Apparently, The Viper has needed the surgery since last year. His body either could not wait any longer or WWE officials thought it was a good time for him to get healthy. The timetable for his return is at least three months, according to Pro Wrestling Unlimited. Related: Randy Orton Recovering From Knee Surgery On paper, that would put him as questionable for Summerslam in August. It’s possible WWE officials will implant him into a feud or a match for the event. The expectation is Orton won’t return to WWE programming until after the biggest party of the summer. Before his injury, The Viper was involved in the United States Title hunt. He was finally able to hold the championship for a brief time, but Orton didn’t have much mom..
