The Boss is heading overseas. According to a report from PWInsider, Sasha Banks is expected to appear at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 17 event next month. It is unknown in what capacity she will be used, if at all, during the show. Banks has not wrestled since she and Naomi walked out on WWE before the May 16 episode of Raw. Both women were upset about the creative direction of their characters, and were subsequently stripped of the Women’s Tag Team Championships. There was both a men’s and women’s match on the show, with the Bloodline coming out on top in the show’s main event. Roman Reigns dominated parts of the match, but there was one part that did not go so well for him, which could have been much worse. According to Fightful Select, Reigns was “very heated” over an unplanned spot between himself and Kevin Owens during the match. Reigns was also described as “visibly upset” after the match was over and reportedly went on an expletive filled rant once backstage. He also believed he might have a ruptured eardrum due to the incident. However, there is nothing to indicate that there will be any lingering issues and there was no physical altercation backstage. I don’t think that was the plan. There are a lot of things that need to come together to make a wrestling match work but sometimes all of the planning in the world might not be enough. One little thing going wrong can cause some a major issue and that seems to have taken place again in a crucial spot of one of the bigger WWE matches to take place in recent memory. The opening match of Crown Jewel 2022 saw Brock Lesnar defeat Bobby Lashley in controversial fashion. Lesnar kicked out of the corner to land on Lashley for a pin, though Lashley’s shoulder was up. As a result, fans have voiced their displeasure with the finish on Twitter, with several being upset about how the match ended in controversy and should have gone in another way. Last week on AEW Dark, Athena defeated Jody Threat in a match that saw both of them get more aggressive than usual. According to Fightful Select, AEW officials spoke to both of the women backstage to make sure everything was ok after the match. Sources close to Athena believe that she switched into a heel role during the match because of the positive reaction that Threat received during the match. The company is having some issues with its wrestlers and its leadership, which has been going on for more than awhile now. One of the company’s leaders tried to help things out with it not that long ago, but some of the details might not have been so well received. Back on August 24, AEW held a talent meeting before Dynamite. Several veterans spoke at the meeting, including Kenny Omega. I guess you can’t do that. According to a report from WWE.com, Ronda Rousey has been fined an undisclosed amount and will be suspended from the company. This is due to her attack on referee Dan Engler at SummerSlam 2022, following her match with Liv Morgan for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. The attack came after Rousey was upset that she made Morgan tap out to an arm bar submission; however, she did so while her shoulders were on the mat and the referee counted to three. The referee did not see the tap, and as a result, Morgan retained her championship. Due to her suspension, Rousey will not appear on this week’s Friday Night SmackDown. The main event of this week’s NXT UK saw Mark Coffey defeat Noam Dar to win the NXT Heritage Cup. Coffey defeated Dar two falls to one in the sixth and final round. The win ends Dar’s reign after 259 days, the longest in the title’s history. Coffey’s title win marks the first singles title win of his NXT UK career, though he is a former NXT UK Tag Team Champion with Wolfgang. McMahon is accused of sexual misconduct with several women, as well as paying them to sign non-disclosure agreements. This is one of the biggest scandals in years in WWE, but McMahon is not the only person accused in the situation. In addition to McMahon being implicated in the scandal, John Laurinaitis was mentioned as well, with the first woman mentioned said to have been “passed” to Laurinaitis “like a toy”.
