It can happen to anyone. There are all kinds of problems that can take place in a wrestler’s life and those just involve what happens with their jobs. In addition to whatever can happen while they are at work, there is also the issue of problems that take place elsewhere. Now a WWE star is dealing with one of those issues and it is more than a bit serious this time. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Flashback: Cameron Makes Bold Claim About WWE Reunion With Naomi According to TMZ.com, WWE star Sonya Deville was arrested on February 19 in Atlantic City, New Jersey on a charge of possession a firearm without a New Jersey permit. A valet reportedly found the gun and called authorities, leading to the arrest. Deville has possessed the weapon since she was stalked by a fan in August 2020. The gun is registered to her in Florida but not in New Jersey and Deville has a hearing scheduled for later this month. According to PWInsider.com, Deville does not have heat with WWE management over the issue. Nei..
What could have been. Women’s wrestling has come a very long way in WWE over the last several years and a lot of that has been due to the roster the company has put together. There have been several stars who have become much bigger deals than ever before and the results have been a success. Occasionally you will see a star come back from the past and now another is saying she was going to be back in a big way. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: That’s Serious: AEW Star Currently Out Of Action With Back Injury, Needed Wheelchair Former WWE star Ariane Andrew, better known as Cameron, took part in a virtual signing with Golden Ring Collectibles and spoke about her return to WWE for the 2022 Royal Rumble. Andrew talked about how she appeared at the Royal Rumble and was called by WWE two days later about winning the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles with Naomi. However, later that week, WWE called again and changed their minds. Naomi would begin teaming with Sasha Banks about a month and a half later, ev..
He’s still here? There have been all kinds of wrestlers throughout WWE’s history and a good many of them do not make the biggest impact. There are some names who are more infamous than anything else, while there are other names who did not do all that much while they were around. Now a former WWE star you might not have thought about much lately was backstage at a major WWE event. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Her Take: Charlotte Explains Why WWE Should Not Unify Titles According to Fightful Select, former WWE star JTG was backstage at last weekend’s Elimination Chamber event. JTG was said to just be there to visit friends and is on good terms with WWE, though there is nothing to suggest anything about a return. JTG wrestled for WWE as part of Cryme Tyme and then as a singles wrestler before being released in 2014. He has since wrestled on the independent circuit. You might not remember JTG. That’s a different way to go. Women’s wrestling has come a very long way in WWE in recent years, to the point where it is now a major, serious part of any WWE event. That is a lot more than most fans would have believed to be possible and a lot of that is due to a core group of wrestlers who have made that much of an impact. Now two of those women are receiving quite the special treatment. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Possibly Spoils NXT Reunion On The Main Roster Last week on WWE TV, Bayley and Becky Lynch were both referred to as “all time greats”. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this was a direct order from Triple H, as he is in charge and it is not a statement that the announcers would have made on their own. Lynch and Bayley are two of the Four Horsewomen of NXT and faced off in a cage match last week on Monday Night Raw. There is a case to be made for it. Check out what the two have done apart and together: [This post contains video, click to p..
That would be a change. You never know when you might see someone return to WWE after a long hiatus and it can make for quite the fun moment. Occasionally someone will pop in after a long hiatus and find something new to do in the company. That was the case back at the Royal Rumble and now it seems that one of the returning superstars might be bringing someone with her. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Uh Oh: Backstage Belief On Vince McMahon’s Involvement With WWE Sale Chelsea Green made her surprise return to WWE in the Women’s Royal Rumble and has since continued to appear on the main roster, portraying a “Karen” like character. As shown by a fan in a tweet, Green’s entrance graphics contain an RS logo, which is the same logo for the Robert Stone brand in NXT. Green is a former member of the Robert Stone Brand before being called up to the main roster for the first time. There has been no mention of Stone on the main roster and no word on when or if he might debut. Not the robert stone bra..
e Now it seems that McMahon’s involvement is raising yet another question. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Family Reunion? Former WWE Star Reveals Plans For Him To Be Kane’s Other Brother According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the belief in WWE is that McMahon is a hindrance instead of a benefit in the negotiations to sell the company. This is a problem as McMahon is the company’s largest shareholder and would be the largest financial beneficiary in the event of a sale, which is why he is involved in the process. There is no word on the process of the sale, with negotiations still ongoing. McMahon has caused some issues before. Check out some of his problems in WWE: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is the kind of thing that had to happen in a sale, as McMahon is ultimately the most powerful person in all of WWE. He owns the majority of the company and is going to be heav..
That would have been different. There are several different ways to introduce a new wrestler and one of the most successful is to have them introduced as part of a wrestling family. It is an idea that has worked over the years and still does to this day. Now we are hearing a story about an idea that would have seen a wrestling family grow even larger than it already is. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He’s Up: WWE And AEW Set For Likely Bidding War Over International Star Former WWE star Matt Morgan was a guest on Insight With Chris Van Vliet and revealed that he was going to be introduced as Kane’s brother Abel. During his time in OVW, then WWE’s developmental system, Morgan was told to wrestle in a mask to get him used to using one. There is no word on why WWE did not use Morgan in the role. Morgan also made it clear that this was not the same storyline as the Impostor Kane, which took place in 2006. Morgan is a talented big man. One more time. Stables have been a major factor in WWE for decades now and they continue to be around in modern times. The idea makes sense as it allows the large WWE roster to be grouped together a bit, with different wrestlers being put into one place. It can mean a lot when a stable breaks up and now we very well could be seeing the reunion of a rather successful team. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Over the last few weeks, MVP has been trying to convince Bobby Lashley to reform the Hurt Business, but Lashley has turned him down every time. However, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lashley has been pushing for a reunion of the team behind the scenes. As a result, the wheels have been set in motion for the team to reform, though it is not clear when it will take place or who will be involved. The team originally formed in May 2020, split up in September 2021, reunited later in the month, and split up for good in January 2022. The team was certainly a success. Check out the..
Not that one. The Royal Rumble is a complicated show as there are so many people taken up by the show’s namesake matches. That does not leave much room for wrestlers to not be around, though it can made a bit easier if the roster is deep enough coming into the show. It seems to be the case this year, as one prominent WWE star is no longer expected to appear at the event. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: REVIEW: Raw 25: The Previous Biggest Reunion Ever According to Fightful Select, Ronda Rousey is no longer expected to appear at the Royal Rumble. Rousey was originally scheduled to have a singles match on the show but the plans have since changed. There is no word on any reason for the change, though Rousey was also scheduled to appear at Raw 30 before the plans were changed as well. Rousey last wrestled on the December 30, 2022 SmackDown, losing the SmackDown Women’s Title to Charlotte. Leave the memories alone? Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Monday Night Raw 25th Anniversary Date: January 22, 2018 Location: Manhattan Center, New York City, New York/Barclays Center, New York City, New York Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Booker T., Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler Now this is a big night with the show having been build up for several months and a slew of guest stars booked for the night. The show is also being run from two arenas, including the location of the first ever episode. I’m more excited for this than I am for Sunday’s Royal Rumbl..
The best of several worlds. There are all kinds of wrestling promotions throughout the world, from the biggest companies around to some rather small independents and all points in between. Every now and then you get to see these promotions doing something together and now that is the case again, albeit this time there were three major companies recreating something from the past. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: More Evidence WWE Is Teasing A Hurt Business Reunion Earlier this week, New Japan Pro Wrestling held its annual Wrestle Kingdom event, featuring wrestlers from AEW. The event also included the debut of former WWE star Sasha Banks, now known as Mercedes Mone. Current WWE star Bayley accompanied her for the debut, though she did not appear on television. Dax Harwood posted a photo of the four together this week, as compared to the four together at some point in their WWE/NXT career. Harwood captioned the two photos with the phrase “What a life.” What a life. pic.twitte..
The important piece. There have been a lot of stables throughout WWE’s history but most of them follow a fairly standard formula. Most WWE stables are focused around one major star, with other smaller stars supporting them. Without the right balance, the stable is rarely going to work, meaning it has to be put together correctly. It seems a possibly returning stable is working to get the right centerpiece. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: International Incident: WWE Star Loses Title At Major International Event Earlier this week on Monday Night Raw, a backstage segment showed MVP talking to former Hurt Business members Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander. According to Wrestlingnews.co, MVP recently asked Adam Pearce (also in the segment with Benjamin and Alexander) about fellow Hurt Business member Bobby Lashley. There is no word on when or if the Hurt Business could reform. That could make for a heck of a team. Check out the Hurt Business in action: [This post contains video, click to pla..
Welcome home. There were a lot of changes to the WWE landscape in 2022 and there is nothing to suggest that those changes will be ending in the new year. Several of the changes involved names moving to or from the company with a bunch of wrestlers coming back. That was not just the case with wrestlers though and now we have a new name returning behind the scenes. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Reunion: WWE Legend Backstage At This Week’s Monday Night Raw According to PWInsider.com, William Regal has officially returned to WWE, starting back with the company on January 4. There is no word on his official job title or duties. Regal left AEW last month to return to WWE, reportedly to help with his son Charlie Dempsey. As part of his release from AEW, Regal cannot appear on WWE television for one year in any capacity. Regal is a big return for WWE. Check out what he did while he was around: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post conta..
They’ll pass. There have been all kinds of wrestlers throughout WWE’s history and quite a few of them have been memorable. While it might not always be for the most positive reasons, there is something about a wrestler that keeps them in fans’ minds. One former WWE star was backstage at this week’s Monday Night Raw after a rather long absence from the company. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Next Batch: More WWE Biographies Coming Next Month According to Fightful Select, former WWE star Summer Rae was backstage this week at Monday Night Raw in Nashville, Tennessee. According to Fightful Select, Rae was only visiting friends and WWE has no plans to bring her back in a full time role. Rae worked for WWE from 2011 – 2017 and returned last year as an entrant in the Women’s Royal Rumble match. Rae did some good things in WWE. That isn’t good. There are all kinds of way for a wrestler to get injured during or after a match and some of them can be very serious. At the same time, you never know when a wrestler is selling an injury from their match or is actually hurt. That confusion seems to be the case again this week, as a WWE star needed help leaving the ring after his knee was damaged during a match. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: LOOK: WWE Teases Popular Stable Reunion On Monday Night Raw The main event of this week’s Monday Night Raw saw Austin Theory defeating Seth Rollins to retain the United States Title. During the match, Theory attacked Rollins’ knee, which gave out on him multiple times. A video from after the show went off the air sees Rollins collapsing on the way to the back and having to be helped to the locker room by Corey Graves. There is no word on if this is a legitimate injury or part of a storyline. This could be bad. Check out Rollins’ falling, the match, and Rollins on a better day: [This ..
That’s a serious issue. With so many wrestlers coming through the doors of various promotions over the years, there have been all kinds of reasons for wrestlers leaving the company. This could range from common to oddly specific and happen to almost all kinds of different names. There have been many big names who have left the company for one reason or another and now we know something about about one of the bigger surprises. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: LOOK: WWE Teases Popular Stable Reunion On Monday Night Raw Bobby Lashley made his Impact Wrestling (then TNA Wrestling) debut in 2009 but was released from the company in January of the following year. According to Eric Bischoff (then an Impact Wrestling executive) during his 83 Weeks podcast, Lashley was let go from the promotion due to Lashley’s then girlfriend, former WWE star Krystal Marshall, causing issues backstage. Bischoff did not tell Lashley that was the reason, instead saying that the company was going to let him go. Lashley w..
Reunion? There are so many wrestlers on the WWE roster that it is difficult to find something for all of them to do. One of the best ways to deal with the problem is to group them together in stables. WWE has used them for years and that tradition continues to be the case to this day. It now seems that WWE is at least considering a reunion of a departed stable. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: And Done: Former WWE Champion Reportedly Now Free Agent, Can Wrestle Elsewhere This week on Monday Night Raw, Damage Ctrl was seen walking through the backstage area on their way to the ring. In the background of the scene were Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander, who were talking with MVP and Adam Pearce. Benjamin and Alexander were formerly part of MVP’s Hurt Business stable, along with Bobby Lashley. The meeting was not acknowledged on the broadcast. https://twitter.com/ThomasNg27/status/1610109185299218434/photo/1 The team did well in their day. Don’t get your hopes up. There have been a lot of great stables throughout WWE’s history, with some of the better ones being around in recent years. It makes sense for a stable to be successful in modern wrestling, as there is a heck of a lot more television time for the teams to dominate. WWE name dropped a very successful stable recently, but a reunion does not seem likely. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Nikki Cross Teases Return Of Former Stable Earlier this week on Monday Night Raw, Seth Rollins and United States Champion Theory had a face to face confrontation. During their talk, Theory said that Rollins was the third most successful member of the Shield. This comes as WWE recently finished celebrating the ten year anniversary of the Shield’s WWE debut at Survivor Series 2012. This led to some speculation about a possible Shield reunion in WWE, but this is not likely at the time. Earlier this year, Jon Moxley (formerly Dean Ambrose of the Shield) signed a new deal with AEW, which..
For one night only. There are several different ways to present a wresting story and some of the most interesting ones involve personal issues. That can go in a variety of ways as well, with the relationships involved being positive or negative. It can be interesting to see what a promotion comes up with and sometimes the best choice is a surprise. That was true on Friday in a special moment. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: That’s Power: Interesting Note On Roman Reigns Working With Kevin Owens And Sami Zayn Earlier this year, Dexter Lumis made his return to NXT to briefly reunite with his storyline wife, Indi Hartwell. Lumis would then be arrested and return to Monday Night Raw, where he has since become a full member of the roster, while Hartwell remained in NXT. During Friday’s NXT live event in Jacksonville, Florida, Lumis made a surprise appearance, reuniting with Hartwell and defeating Javier Bernal. There is nothing to suggest that this is more than a one off appearance. In-Dex Reunio..
