It’s an interesting choice. It had been previously reported that Rey Mysterio will be given the ultimate honor within WWE, and become a member of the WWE Hall of Fame, Class of 2023. But who will be the one to induct Mysterio? According to a report from Dave Meltzer, former WCW superstar Konnan will do the honors of bringing Mysterio into the Hall of Fame. From Wrestling News: Konnan was the most obvious choice because they have been close for decades, dating back to Rey and Konnan’s early days in the wrestling business. This might be Konnan’s first appearance at a major WWE event. Konnan wrestled briefly as Max Moon on non-televised matches in 1992 but those matches never aired and he left the company before the character debuted on TV with Paul Diamond playing the role. Konnan will be inducting Rey into the Hall of Fame. Rey asked for him and the company approved it. That would have been different. There are several titles under the WWE banner these days and some of them are among the most important championships in wrestling history. Some of those former champions are quite the legends of the company and it means a lot for them to show up every so often. Now a current WWE star is revealing a plan he had to honor one of those former champions. In a recent post on TikTok, Miz talked about a plan he had to drop the Intercontinental Title to the Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania. While he held the title, Miz wanted to defeat all former Intercontinental Champions at WrestleMania in a gauntlet lumberjack match. The Warrior would enter as a surprise final entrant and defeat Miz to win the title in short order. Miz said he tried to make this happen but could never pull it off. If the fans do not care or are not happy with what they are seeing, they are not likely to keep watching later. Tis the season. We are less than six weeks away from WrestleMania 39 and that means it is time to start setting up the biggest weekend of the WWE’s year. This year’s show takes place in Los Angeles, California and just like last time, WWE is airing some parody movie trailers to tie into the Hollywood theme. The first one has already aired and features two of the bigger stars in WWE today. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: That Looked Awful: WWE Star Helped From Elimination Chamber, Falls Going Down Stairs WWE debuted the first of its WrestleMania movie trailer parodies over the weekend at Elimination Chamber. The trailer features Seth Rollins as the Joker, dancing down a set of stairs. At the bottom, he runs into Batman, played by Becky Lynch but not wearing a mask. This is a problem as McMahon is the company’s largest shareholder and would be the largest financial beneficiary in the event of a sale, which is why he is involved in the process. That is the kind of milestone that no wrestling show reaches, especially not as one of the biggest wrestling shows in the world throughout its run. The boss is back. WWE issued a press release today, announcing that its Board of Directors has unanimously elected Vince McMahon Executive Chairman of the Board. In addition, Stephanie McMahon has resigned as co-CEO and Chairwoman of the Board and Nick Khan will serve as the company’s sole CEO. Statements from several executives were issued in the press release: Vince McMahon: “First, I’d like to express my full support for Stephanie’s personal decision. I’ll forever be grateful that she offered to step in during my absence and I’m truly proud of the job she did co-leading WWE. Maybe they’re next? WWE has a lot of talented stars up and down their roster, but the Monday Night Raw and SmackDown rosters are firmly above NXT. The NXT wrestlers are developmental stars whose ultimate goal is to make it to one of the main roster shows. As good a reason as any. Wrestling is a sport all about conflict, which is made all the trickier when a majority of fans know that what they are watching is scripted. At times though, there are some feuds that look more realistic than others because there is an element of reality in them. Two major WWE stars have some real life issues and now one of them is explaining a bit more. There have long been stories of real life heat between Charlotte and Becky Lynch, despite the two of them formerly being friends. Lynch appeared on the MMA Hour (Lynch’s segment begins around 1:43:40) and discussed the issues between her and Charlotte and offering an explanation.
