WOO? Ric Flair Claims FOX And Netflix Are Considering A Wrestling Themed Reality Series

That would be a different way to go. There are all kinds of ways to present a wrestling story, as wrestlers have various personality types and characters. It can be interesting to see what happens when you put them in different scenarios, especially if it is something personal. Now we might be seeing some very different scenarios from people related to the wrestling industry. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Clean Slate: Backstage Meeting Reportedly Held Over AEW Star’s Past Actions During a recent edition of his To Be The Man podcast, Ric Flair revealed that FOX and Netflix are considering a series built around wrestling housewives, featuring his wife Wendy, Kim Orton, Giovanna Angle and Catalina Hager. There is no word on how far along the talks are, which other wrestling wives might be a part of the cast or where the show might air if it gets picked up. There have been a lot of wrestling marriages over the years. Check out how some of them got started (or almost got started): [This post c..

AEW Interested In A Merger With WWE

When two become one. According to a report from CNBC, Shad and Tony Khan, owners of AEW, are interested in merging with WWE. The report states that AEW could partner with a strategic media company to share the intellectual property while merging the two companies. However, the idea that Vince McMahon would merge his company with AEW is a long shot. AEW hasn’t had talks with McMahon or Nick Khan, the new CEO for WWE. The Khans are open to discussing a potential role for McMahon, after a sale but haven’t yet had those talks. It’s unclear what type of job McMahon would want with WWE after a sale, primarily because WWE is a much larger and more established organization than AEW. WWE is reportedly planning to sell the company sometime in 2023. Editor’s Opinion: Wow, this is not the headline that I expected to read today. I’m not exactly sure how a merger would work, particularly with Tony Khan and Vince McMahon as the two people that would work out the details. They are both very inves..

The More You Know: AEW’s Kyle O’Reilly Opens Up About His Absence, Dealing With Health Issues

That’s a lot going on. Wrestlers have a lot of difficulties throughout their careers and many of them can be rather complicated to deal with on a regular basis. In some cases that is even more difficult than others, as you will occasionally find a wrestler who has more issues than their colleagues. One suck wrestler is having that kind of a problem and has a good deal to say about it. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Try Him: AEW Reportedly Planning Push For Popular Star AEW’s Kyle O’Reilly has not wrestled a match since June 8, 2022 on Dynamite. Since then, O’Reilly has been dealing with an unspecified health issue that has kept him out of action for over seven months. O’Reilly made a post to Instagram over the weekend, talking about how he has to come back better than he left. He also discusses working with a specialist to deal with his Type-1 diabetes and a transmitter to monitor his blood sugar. There is no word on when O’Reilly will be returning to the ring. WWE Hires JPMorgan To Help With Sale of the Company

Let the bidding begin. According to a report from CNBC, WWE has hired JPMorgan to begin the process of selling the company. This is being reported following the news that Vince McMahon returned to the company yesterday. The report states that if a deal occurs, it would likely occur in the next three to six months. In addition, WWE plans to talk to potential buyers before it makes a decision on TV rights renewal agreements. McMahon had the following to stay in a statement: “My return will allow WWE, as well as any transaction counterparties, to engage in these processes knowing they will have the support of the controlling shareholder.” His return doesn’t affect current leadership as Stephanie, and former CAA agent Nick Khan are co-CEOs. However, it remains unclear what type of role, if any, Vince would want at WWE if he sold the company. WWE has told investors that his role is essential in “our ability to create popular characters and creative storylines.” Currently, Vince doesn’t h..

That’s up next. There are several types of wrestlers and some of them work well together, with their styles meshing. That can make for some of the most entertaining matches around, especially if you have wrestlers who are good at what they do in the first place. It seems that WWE is setting up what could be an interesting match between wrestlers who could work well together. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: WWE Stable Turns Heel In Surprise Switch On SmackDown The main event of this week’s SmackDown saw the Usos cheat to retain their Tag Team Titles against the team of Sheamus and Drew McIntyre. No Wasting Time: WWE Considers Changes For Next WarGames Match

They want to make some adjustments. WWE is a major wrestling promotion and that is partially due to the kinds of adjustments they occasionally make. Sometimes something is not going right and a change is needed. That can make some of their ideas better, which is what they seem to be doing again, as WWE has debuted a new match type and already thinks it needs some tweaking. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Well Who Hasn’t: How Vince McMahon Spent $30,000 On Worms Last weekend, WWE presented its first ever WarGames match at Survivor Series, with a men’s and women’s edition taking place on the same show. During an interview with Kevin Owens on After The Bell, WWE broadcaster Corey Graves revealed that WWE was already discussing how to improve WarGames. The weekly pre-Monday Night Raw meeting focused on how great the matches were, but also on how to improve them. There is no word on any changes that might be made or when the match will be held again. WarGames was a big deal. Check out what we saw..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Discusses Bringing Back Hell In A Cell MUCH Earlier Than Expected

Is that a crossover? WWE has several major match types that it will use at certain times. The company will regularly bring out one match after another at specific times on the calendar, though that might be changing under the new regime. We might be seeing that exact change take place very soon, as a major match might be taking place outside of the normal time. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Go Your Own Way: Speculation Over William Regal Jumping Back From AEW To WWE On January 28, WWE will present the 2023 Royal Rumble from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. According to Wrestlingnew.co’s Twitter, WWE has has discussed including a Hell In A Cell match on the card, though nothing has been confirmed. There is also no word on who the match would include. Should it happen, it would be only the second Hell In A Cell match to take place on a premium live event other than the match’s namesake show in six and a half years. There's been talk in WWE about a Hell in a Cell match happening at t..

Ronda Rousey Talks Character Work With Vince McMahon; Comparisons to Brock Lesnar

WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey discussed the inner workings of her on-screen WWE persona after she made her debut with the company as an in-ring performer. Following a electric and memorable debut at WrestleMania 34, Rousey stormed onto WWE programming, but former CEO Vince McMahon saw her character as more “vulnerable than dominant.” Ronda clarified on the latest episode of her podcast Ronda on the Road that Vince McMahon didn’t see her as an “invincible monster” type of character like Brock Lesnar has been booked to be. The comparison between the two obvious based on their legitimate MMA and UFC backgrounds. As a result, Ronda Rousey was booked with a more “vulnerable side.” Related: Ronda Rousey Burns WWE Over Superstar Releases “There’s this more vulnerable side of me,” Ronda explained on the podcast “but not vulnerable like, ‘Oh, I’m being hurt.’ It’s more of like, I gotta to find ways to challenge myself more and more and more.” Rousey went into further detail abo..

Drop it! There are all kinds of things that come together to make a wrestler a success. It takes the right balance of a variety of aspects, some of which is having the right gimmick for the right wrestler. At some point, that includes dropping something that isn’t working, which WWE might be doing again. This time, it involves taking away one of the biggest aspects of a particular character. Run That By Me Again: WWE Announces New Match Type Coming Next Much (It’s A Lot)

We have a new one. There are all kinds of wrestling matches with a variety of stipulations available. Depending on which kind of feud is taking place, you can pick which kind of match fits everything best. It can be a cool moment when you see a new match being introduced, even if it is a mixture of multiple matches seen before. Now we are going to be seeing a brand new one and it is a bit complicated. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Ouch? Randy Orton’s Wife Posts Photo Of Him From Hospital This week on NXT, Shawn Michaels announced a new match type, which will take place at NXT Deadline on December 10. The match will be called the Iron Survivor Challenge. Two wrestlers will start and every five minutes, a new one will be added until all five are in. You win with the most falls in 25 minutes, with falls coming via pinfall, submission or DQ. Joey Janela Rips AEW Dark, Calls It “Stale A**”

He isn’t a fan. AEW has only been around for a few years now but they have already had a number of stars who have shown up, stuck around for a good while, and then left. Many of them have good things to say about their time in the company, but now one former AEW star does not have the best things to say about one major aspect about AEW’s weekly schedule. Former AEW star Joey Janela took to Twitter this week to praise the Rey Fenix vs. AR Fox match from the most recent edition of AEW Dark. In addition, Janela criticized the format of the show, which is mostly focused on one sided squash matches. Janela said that stale matches meant nothing in 20222 and described the show as stale. He also said that he would not want to waste time watching a show like Dark as a fan. Janela wrestled from AEW from 2019-2022. This is what dark should be, all around competitive action packed sprints, and maybe a one longer type storyline based match weekly. What that show does is nothing for anyone anymore..

Former WWE Star Blown Away By Rhea Ripley’s Dominant Return To The Ring

She’s impressed. There are different types of wrestlers throughout the industry and one of the most prominent is the powerhouse. These are wrestlers who mainly rely on their size and strength to dominate matches and they often easily overpower their opponents, especially near the end of a match. Now a former WWE powerhouse has some high praise for one of the current WWE editions. Last week on NXT, Rhea Ripley made her return to the ring after a four and a half month absence due to an injury. Ripley defeated Roxanne Perez in the match with the Riptide and stacking her up for the pin. Former WWE star Nia Jax commented on the pin, saying that Ripley was “pancaking” her. Jax is a former Raw Women’s Champion but has not wrestled since September 20, 2021, after which she was released from WWE. 134 days since my last match… Still the best! Still a menace ? pic.twitter.com/MNpvvS2pZe — RheaRipley_WWE (@RheaRipley_WWE) October 20, 2022 pic.twitter.com/34SfbnLSDu — WrestleSR (@wrestle_sr) ..

Shawn Michaels Reveals Changes To NXT’s Hiring Strategy

They have a type. There are all kinds of wrestlers under the WWE banner and most of them come from a few select backgrounds. You can probably figure out some of the most common, with amateur wrestling, football and mixed martial arts being very prominent. That leaves off some of the most obvious, but WWE does still have their eyes pointed elsewhere. Shawn Michaels was recently interviewed by My San Antonio and revealed that NXT was still looking for both independent and Japanese wrestlers. Michaels said that nothing is off the table when it comes to finding new talent, which will continue to be the case in the future. This comes after reports that NXT was no longer looking for independent wrestlers but rather focusing on athletes that could be turned into wrestlers. Opinion: This is far from a surprise and something that is still nice to hear. What matters is that WWE is trying to look through the more traditional areas for future talent. I understand the idea of bringing in athletes..

Ouch: Nasty Injury Takes Place During AEW Dynamite Main Event

It’s the nature of the match. There are a lot of match types in wrestling and some of them are a lot more violent than others. Some of those matches are designed to be as violent as possible, particularly in matches between people who can’t stand each other. It can make for some serious violence, which is on top of the inherent danger of wrestling. That was the case again this week. The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite saw Chris Jericho defeat Eddie Kingston in a barbed wire match. The match saw barbed wire around the ring with both wrestlers using it throughout the match. Jericho has since taken to Twitter and revealed that he suffered a broken nose during the match, though it is not clear when in the match it happened. There is nothing to suggest that Jericho will be missing any ring time. Just left the doctors office. It’s official….that SAVAGE @MadKing1981 broke my nose last night. #barbwireeverywhere @AEW pic.twitter.com/1TVUxjUVZx — Chris Jericho (@IAmJericho) July 21, 2..

It’s A Painful Game: What Happened After Violent Ending To AEW Dynamite

That could have gone better. There are a lot of match types in wrestling and some of them are built more on violence than anything else. These can be the big finale for a feud and that can make for some rather big moments. It can be better when it is a match type that you do not see happen very often, which was the case again this week. As it turns out, there was more to it after the show was over. The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite was a barbed wire match between Chris Jericho and Eddie Kingston, with Jericho winning. After the match, Kingston attacked Jericho again and sent him from the apron onto a barbed wire board on the floor. According to PWInsider.com, following the show, Jericho was removed from the barbed wire and taken from the arena on a stretcher. Opinion: That is the way such a night should end, as Jericho was in a very violent and bloody match and shouldn’t have been able to leave on his own. I’m not sure why the post match angle needed to take place so soon af..

New Vignette Airs During Money in the Bank 2022

Who could it be? Last night, at the Money in the Bank 2022 pay-per-view, a brand new vignette aired featuring a number of strange symbols. Included were creepy music, a cross, candles, and others. You can see the vignette below: [This post contains video, click to play] Editor’s Opinion: Usually, I don’t write opinions this long, but when all you have to work with is the vignette, all that’s left to do is start giving opinions and try to break down what it might mean. My initial thought was that it was the return of bray Wyatt, as these types of things were what he specialized in. However, the common theory going around the Internet right now is that it is the return of edge. There were gold medals, a cross, armbands, and glasses with tape in the middle; all throwbacks to some of his previous feuds with legends over the years. The current theory is that it could be the return of his Brood character, as he comes back to face Judgment Day, who turned on him a few weeks ago. As alwa..

Jeff Hardy Suspended From AEW Without Pay

It had been previously reported that Jeff Hardy was recently arrested in Volusia County, Florida, on charges of driving on a suspended license, violating restrictions placed on a driver’s license, and driving under the influence. Tony Khan has released the following statement regarding Hardy’s status with AEW: “We were able to resume contact with Jeff Hardy this afternoon. AEW does not condone Jeff’s alleged behavior. We’ve made it clear to Jeff that we’ll assist him in getting treatment for substance abuse issues, which he has indicated that he’s open to receiving. In the interim, he is suspended without pay, and he can only return to AEW upon successfully completing treatment and maintaining his sobriety,” Khan’s statement said. “If you or a loved one needs help, please reach out to SAMHSA’s National Helpline: 1-800-662-HELP (4357).” pic.twitter.com/pDJA55cyaN — Tony Khan (@TonyKhan) June 14, 2022 Unfortunately, this is not the first time this type of offense has occurred; Hard..

Opinion: This Is Tony Khan & AEW’s Sink Or Swim Moment

It has not been a good week for All Elite Wrestling. Coming out of their recent Double or Nothing pay-per-view, many questions were raised about AEW and their business practices and how things were handled behind the scenes by Tony Khan. With all the controversy surrounding MJF and now with the confusion about their world championship, one thing is evident to me. In my opinion, this is a sink or swim moment for Tony Khan and the future of AEW. Allow me to be very clear and transparent: I am unabashedly and openly not a fan of AEW and haven’t been since the beginning. I believe that Khan has no idea how to run a wrestling company, does not understand the business aspect of it, and his product is nothing but spot fests, blood and deathmatch type matches, and trying to get their small fan base to mark out for every little thing that they do. They have NO IDEA how to tell a story, except for a couple of performers (MJF, CM Punk). As a result, some of my opinions may seem biased. However..

Specific Reason For WWE’s Star’s Recent Dramatic Change In Appearance

They have a type. Wrestling is a lot of things, but ultimately it is a visual medium. Fans need to see something that catches their eyes to make them stick around, which is not the easiest thing to do. One thing that can help is to have stars look a certain way, and WWE certainly knows the kind of look they want to see. That has led to a change of pace to a new WWE star. Gunther made his full time main roster debut this week on SmackDown. This comes after he moved to NXT earlier this year, where he seemed to have lost quite a bit of weight. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Gunther dropped weight because WWE wants slimmer wrestlers appearing on television. There is nothing to suggest that Gunther was ordered to drop the weight and he seemed to lose it on his own decision. Opinion: Size or not, what matters the most is the fact that Gunther is on the main roster and getting the chance to showcase himself in front of so many more people. Gunther has looked ready for the main roste..
