After multiple years of mass releases, a bunch of the former WWE wrestlers have been brought back into the company. These returning stars have had varying levels of success but now we know a little more about their internal reception with possibly the most important person around. That’s some secret keeping. Wrestling receives a lot of criticism for being planned in advance. There is some truth to that, but at the same time, there is a lot of work and effort that goes into making fans believe that what they are seeing is at least somewhat realistic. Every so often you see a genuine response in wrestling though and that was double the case this weekend. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: LOOK: Popular AEW Star Backstage At WWE Royal Rumble Last Saturday, WWE presented its annual Royal Rumble event. The show opened with the surprise return of Pat McAfee to the commentary team, ending a four month hiatus. According to PWInsider.com, WWE made McAfee’s return as much of a surprise as possible, with co-commentators Michael Cole and Corey Graves having no idea he would be back. Yes again. Injuries are one of the most complicated things in wrestling as you never know when someone is going to be put on the shelf for any amount of time. The injuries can result in a long recovery time and some of them often have complications on top of that. Unfortunately that is the case again as a WWE star who was already on the shelf had to deal with another issue. R-Truth recently participated in a live stream, revealing that he had to undergo a second surgery due to an infection. While R-Truth said that the second surgery set him back, he expects to be back in the ring sooner than expected. Opinion: AEW’s Future Should NOT Involve ex-WWE Talent

Last week on Dynamite, MJF and Ricky Starks had a match that tore the house down. The storytelling was fantastic, the action was great, and the build up leading into the match made me very emotionally interested to see what was going to happen. This was Starks’ breakout match, and I hope it leads to him being a main event player in AEW for a long time. However, as I was watching the show the last week, I realized something very, very important. And it’s something that could be the foundation for how AEW operates in the future. In my opinion, the future of AEW does not involve ex-WWE talent, but rather the stars it is creating on its own. I’ve said for a long time that Tony Khan has relied too much on talent from other promotions that were either released, or decided to leave, because they thought the grass would be greener on the other side. R-Truth Suffers Torn Quad, Needs Surgery

You hate to see it. It had been previously reported that R-Truth had potentially suffered an injury during a match with Grayson Waller on the November 1 episode of NXT. Unfortunately, the news is as bad as was suspected. Truth took to Twitter today to confirm that he had, in fact, suffered a torn quad and that it would require surgery to be repaired. Injury Update On R-Truth (And It Might Be Very Bad)

That doesn’t sound good. Injuries are one of the few universal problems for wrestlers and there is almost no way around them. No matter how much experience or training a wrestler may have, there is always the chance that someone is going to get hurt. That seems to be the case again with a veteran, who could have suffered quite a significant injury earlier this week. This week on NXT, R-Truth faced Grayson Waller in a match that stopped when R-Truth suffered a leg injury when attempting a running dive over the top rope. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, R-Truth may have torn his quadricep, but that has yet to be confirmed. There is no word on how long R-Truth, 50 years old, would be out of action if that is the case. Opinion: Anything involving something possibly being torn is never good to see and this could be quite the serious injury. WWE Match Stopped Due To Knee Injury, Star Helped To The Back

Please don’t be bad. You never want to see someone get hurt in wrestling as it can be one of the most devastating things that can happen to any wrestler. An injury can come out of nowhere on what seems to be a spot that goes well, but other times you can see things going badly as they take place right in front of you. Unfortunately the latter was the reality this week. This week’s NXT featured a match between R-Truth and Grayson Waller. During the match, R-Truth executed a running flipping dive over the ropes, which he did not entirely clear. As a result, R-Truth stayed on the ground with a seemingly injured knee, causing the referee to stop the match. There is no word on the severity of R-Truth’s injury or how long he might be out of action. Opinion: That is a terrible thing to see as you never want someone to get hurt. In recent weeks, Shelton Benjamin and R-Truth have teamed together on Main Event. This week, the two were backstage where Benjamin talked about how he needed to take things more seriously. RUMOR KILLER On Major WWE Departure

He’s not going anywhere. There have been a lot of changes in recent weeks both behind and in front of the scenes of WWE. Those changes have resulted in all kinds of situations that would have been hard to fathom just a few months ago. Several former top names of the promotion have left, but in this case one of the bigger names is actually sticking around for the time being. According to PWInsider, there is no truth to various rumors that WWE executive Kevin Dunn is leaving the company. Such stories have appeared on social media but there is no truth to them whatsoever. Dunn is a longtime employee of WWE and has executive produced its television shows for nearly thirty years. Dunn has been reported to be departing the promotion for several months but nothing has come of it.
