WATCH: Rey Mysterio Makes Surprise Appearance For AAA TripleMania XXX

He doesn’t go here. WWE is the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world but it is not the only one. There are several other promotions around the world, some of which have their own legacies and histories. Their biggest events are among the most important in the world and that was the case this weekend. It was so big that a WWE legend made a surprise appearance. This weekend, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide held the third and final night of its TripleMania XXX show. The event marked thirty years of AAA and WWE Rey Mysterio made a surprise cameo via pre-recorded video. Mysterio talked about how important it was to wrestle at TripleMania and praised the company and wrestlers on the card. Mysterio wrestled in AAA in the early 1990s before coming to American to wrestle full time. This was special. Check out Mysterio’s message for AAA (and some of his trophy room): [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is the kind of cool cameo that makes a show feel specia..

AEW’s Andrade El Idolo Reportedly On The Outs With AAA Promotion

It isn’t going well. AEW has been around for a few years now and the company has done rather well in its limited existence. The company has a devoted following and new stars continue to join the ranks. However, there are always going to be some problems for the wrestlers either in front of or behind the camera. That is the case for a current AEW star, but it isn’t in AEW itself. Earlier this week, AEW’s Andrade El Idolo and Sammy Guevara got into a Twitter spat. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, El Idolo is currently having issues with the AAA promotion in Mexico. This stems from TripleMania XXIX in 2021, when Kenny Omega successfully defended the AAA Mega Championship against El Idolo. This was reportedly a change of plans over El Idolo’s asking price for the appearance. The relationship continued to deteriorate and El Idolo has only wrestled for AAA once since then, back in April. El Idolo is scheduled to face 10 on this week’s AEW Rampage, with his AEW career on the line. Opi..

Multiple Ouches: Injury Updates On Several AEW Stars

There is a lot to go through. Injuries are one of the worst things that can happen to a wrestler as you never know when someone is going to be put on the shelf. It could be for quite a long time or a short while, but either way it is something that can create quite the problem. That is the case again in AEW, but this time there are quite a few injuries at the same time. Fightful Select is reporting updates on several AEW injuries. First up is Matt Hardy, who suffered some sort of a knee injury over the weekend at AAA’s TripleMania event in Tijuana, Mexico. Hardy’s knee is said to have “major” swelling but it is not clear how long he might be out, if he is at all. In addition, Bryan Danielson is currently not cleared to wrestle at AEW Forbidden Door, though he is expected to make an announcement about his injury status. Next, Lee Johnson is currently out of action with a knee injury and is expected to be out of action for the rest of the summer. Finally, Darius Martin is also out of a..

It’s A Good Weekend: AEW Team Picks Up Some Gold (With Some Chicanery)

It suits them. There are certain wrestlers who are perfectly suited as villains and the fans can sense it. They know when these wrestlers are as vile as can be and they deserve to be booed. It makes sense for wrestling promotions to present them in ways that are going to draw as much heat from the crowd as possible and now two of the best around are getting additional help. Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti won the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Titles at TripleMania XXX on Saturday night, defeating Maravilla/Latigo, Sexy Star II/Komander and defending champions Los Vipers. Guevara came to the ring on a crutch and had Parka Negra take his place, only to use his crutch to beat everyone up and score a double pin with Conti to win the titles. He also offered to pay off the referee. #andNEW! Positive Sign On Injured AEW Star’s Recovery

Welcome back. You never want to see an injury in wrestling. It might be major or minor, but there is nothing good about someone getting hurt. An injury can shake up a wrestler’s career for a long time and the question becomes how long it can be before they return to the ring. That was the case again earlier this year, and now we might have an answer to that question. Back on January 5, Rey Fenix suffered an arm injury during a match on an episode of AEW Dynamite. Fenix has not wrestled since, though AAA has posted a tweet saying that he will be at TripleMania XXX Part 1 on April 30. He did not say what he will be doing at the show and has not yet been announced for a match. There is no word on when Fenix could return to AEW television. ? ¡ Ya lo dijo @ReyFenixMx ! Nos vemos este próximo 30 de abril en Triplemanía XXX Monterrey. ? ¿Ya tienes tus boletos? ?Estadio De Béisbol Monterrey ? 20:00 hrs. ? VIDEO: Three Released WWE Stars Make Surprise Appearances

Welcome back. There have been a lot of wrestlers released from WWE over the last year and a half. Those moves have changed the way the wrestling world works and that is not likely to be changing anytime soon. That makes for some rather interesting changes as other promotions are able to pick up some of the wrestlers here and there. That seems to be the case in triplicate this time around. Three recently released WWE wrestlers made appearances of some sort over the weekend. First, Taya Valkyrie, formerly known as Frankie Monet in NXT, appeared at AAA TripleMania and said that she was coming for Deonna Purrazzo Reina de Reinas Title. Also, former Universal Champion Braun Strowman, wrestling under his real name of Adam Scherr, appeared at GLCW Blizzard Brawl. The event was a charity show for the victims of the Waukesha, Wisconsin parade. Finally, Scarlett Bordeaux appeared at an MCW Pro Wrestling event, interfering in a match and attacking King McBride. These were some cool moments. Che..

Kenny Omega’s Shoulder Surgery Is Changing Another Company’s Plans

Omega had to do it. Titles are some of the most important things in all of professional wrestling. They are a rather simple concept, in that the top stars in the company have big shiny belts that signify they are the best. This has been the case for decades in wrestling and is still the case today. Now we are seeing a major title change hands, albeit not as originally planned. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Kenny Omega will be vacating the AAA Mega Championship at some point in the next few days. Omega is set to undergo shoulder surgery and will not be able to make his scheduled title defense on December 4 at TripleMania Regia II against El Hijo del Vikingo. There is no word on who will be included in the new title match, though it is expected to be a multi person match. Omega is a star anywhere. Check out some of his better recent moments in the ring: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to ..

WWE Falsely Advertises Charlotte For Live Event

They shouldn’t do that. WWE is the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world and that puts them in a rather special situation. They are able to run more events than any other promotion in the country and they are going to get more attention than anyone else. This time though, some of the attention they received is not leaving them in the best light. According to PWInsider.com, Charlotte did not appear at this weekend’s WWE live event in Charlotte, North Carolina as she was in Mexico City for AAA TripleMania. Charlotte’s fiance Andrade El Idolo, accompanied by Charlotte’s father Ric Flair, unsuccessfully challenged Kenny Omega for the AAA Mega Title at the event, with Charlotte in attendance as well. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Charlotte requested the night off from WWE “some time ago”, though WWE continued to advertise her for the show anyway. Charlotte also missed the Sunday night WWE live event in Columbia, South Carolina. Charlotte is going to be a big ..

AEW Prevented Major Weekend Title Change

They do have a bit of pull. There are a lot of wrestling promotions in the world today but only a handful of them are at the top of the heap. Those promotions are able to do some things that you do not see elsewhere and it can make for some very interesting moments. That seems to be the case again, as there were some international strings being pulled over the weekend. Last Friday, Kenny Omega lost the Impact Wrestling World Title to Christian Cage during the debut episode of AEW Rampage. The following night, Omega successfully defended the AAA Mega Championship against Andrade El Idolo at AAA TripleMania 29. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the original plan called for El Idolo to win the title but AEW requested that the title change be postponed. AEW has control over Omega’s finishes and did not want Omega losing on back to back nights. Omega is currently scheduled to defend the AEW World Title on September 5 at All Out. I can see why AEW would be worried. Check out the Omega..

WATCH: Ric Flair Makes Surprise Wrestling Appearance Over The Weekend

Woo again. There are certain wrestlers who practically transcend wrestling and it is always interesting to see what they are up to. It is not the case with a great number of wrestlers but you know one when you see one. That person can do almost anything they want and will still be a legend no matter what. One such name did something on Saturday that he may never have done before. Ric Flair made a surprise, unannounced appearance at Saturday’s AAA TripleMania XXIX event in Mexico City, Mexico. Flair accompanied Andrade El Idolo to the ring for his AAA Mega Title shot against Kenny Omega, which saw Omega retain the title. The match saw Flair get involved and chop Omega a few times. El Idolo is engaged to Flair’s daughter Charlotte. This is the first time that Flair has appeared for a promotion based in Mexico. Flair’s appearance comes less than a month after he requested and received his release from WWE. The move made him a free agent, though it is not clear how long his no compete cl..
