They’re big. There are certain names in the history of wrestling that are going to be remembered fondly for a very long time to come. Those stars are the most important in wrestling and were able to build a legacy that is remembered for years. It means something to have those names around and now two of them made an appearance backstage at a recent WWE event. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He Has A Take: Possible Problem With WWE Using Tyson Fury Two WWE Hall Of Famers were backstage last week at SmackDown. First up, Batista was present, and took a photo with Titus O’Neil, which was posted to Twitter. Batista last wrestled at WrestleMania 35. Second, according to PWInsider.com, Ric Flair was backstage as well, likely to see his daughter Charlotte win the SmackDown Women’s Title. There is nothing to suggest that the two will be appearing on WWE TV in the near future. #SmackDown Was Awesome tonight and always Great to see all of my @WWE Family ?? pic.twitter.com/V7qtVc8H6x — Titus O'Nei..
Crown Jewel 2022 Date: November 5, 2022 Location: Mrsool Park, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Commentators: Michael Cole, Wade Barrett We’re back in Saudi Arabia and in this case that means we are going to be seeing Logan Paul getting a shot at Roman Reigns. It’s a straight up celebrity match and the question is how well Paul can do in the situation. This show feels like a regular pay per view which happens to be taking place in Saudi Arabia so hopefully they can make that work. Let’s get to it. The opening video features Titus O’Neil talking about how this is the countdown to impossible. The idea is tied into Logan Paul needing to hit that one lucky shot to beat Roman Reigns. Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley Lesnar came back a few weeks ago and randomly attacked Lashley to cost him the US Title, setting up the showdown. Lashley goes after him on the floor before the bell and takes out the leg. They go inside for the opening bell, then another spear drops Lesnar inside. The spear sends Lesnar t..
Monday Night Raw Date: July 18, 2022 Location: Amalie Arena, Tampa, Florida Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton We have two shows left before Summerslam and that means it is time to start hammering home the rest of the details. A good deal of the card has already been set and now it is time to wrap things up, including things other than Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar. Maybe we can get some more of that this week so let’s get to it. Here is Titus O’Neil for a chat. Titus talks about how many charitable things WWE gets to do and he loves to talk about it as his Global Ambassador. That’s why you’ll never hear us talk about politics, religion or anything else controversial. This is a place that should be a safe haven for everyone so with that in mind, WELCOME TO MONDAY NIGHT RAW! We recap Becky Lynch costing Bianca Belair a match against Carmella last week. Here is Becky talking about the Little Engine That Could. There are people who try with everything they can but s..
Call it a crossover. Professional wrestlers are certainly athletes, but there is a certain stigma about them. While what they do is some of the hardest work in all of sports, critics will waste no time in reminding you that what you are seeing is fake, or at least scripted and predetermined. That can make it a bit difficult for wrestling to be seen as athletics, but now some wrestlers will be appearing at a major athletic event. WWE has announced that The Miz and Titus O’Neil will be representing the company at the upcoming NFL Draft in Las Vegas. The two will get to announce selections for their respective hometown teams, the Cleveland Browns (Miz) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (O’Neil), the latter of which will be celebrating his birthday. O’Neil had a career in professional football, playing in the Arena Football League from 2003-2007. Opinion: This is one of those cool things that WWE gets to do every now and then. While WWE stars might not be the biggest celebrities in the world, the..
More history has been made! Titles are the simplest concept in wrestling, as any fan of any experience level can understand the concept. A champion is the best around and someone else wants to take their spot. It has worked forever in wrestling and it still does today, as a title change can shake up any promotion in the blink of an eye. That seems to be the case again this week. The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite saw Samoa Joe defeat Minoru Suzuki to win the Ring of Honor Television Title for the first time in his career. Suzuki won the title from Rhett Titus at the Ring of Honor Supercard of Honor event on April 1. There is no word on when Ring of Honor will return to running regular events or if Samoa Joe will defend the title on AEW television going forward. Opinion: That’s not exactly a shocking result as Suzuki felt like someone there to hold the title for a few weeks before someone else won the thing. I can go with the transitional title reign as Joe holding the title i..
It was a busy night. There are a lot of titles to be won in the wrestling industry and some of them have deep histories. It means something when those titles change hands, especially on a show of magnitude. In his case, a lot of the titles had not been defended or even seen in a very long time, making the changes all the more important. That was the case this week in a big way. There were four new champions crowned at Ring of Honor’s Supercard of Honor 2022 event, which served as the company’s first new event since December 2021. First, Mercedes Martinez defeated Willow Nightingale to become the new Interim Women’s Champion, setting up a unification match with Deonna Purrazzo. Second, FTR defeated the Briscoes to win the Tag Team Titles. Next, Minoru Suzuki took the Television Title from Rhett Titus, followed by Wheeler Yuta becoming the Pure Champion by defeating Josh Woods. The show’s main event saw Jonathan Gresham defeat Bandido to become undisputed World Champion. Opinion: That ..
He’ll be back. Retirement is a weird thing in wrestling, as it is rare for a wrestler to ever truly walk away from wrestling as a whole. There is always the chance to see someone get back in the ring for a one off appearance or one final run, which can take some fans by surprise. Now another wrestler who seemed like he might have been done has clarified his status and explained where he has been. Titus O’Neil Appeared on 95.3 WDAE (St. Petersburg, Florida) and revealed that he is currently rehabbing from a medical procedure on his knee. O’Neil made it clear that he has not retired from the ring and plans to wrestle again. There is no word on what O’Neil had done or when he will be back in the ring. O’Neil’s most recent match took place on the November 9, 2020 edition of Monday Night Raw when he lost to Bobby Lashley. Opinion: O’Neil is one of the most fascinating cases in WWE as he has never had the greatest success in the ring, but everything else he does outside of it more than mak..
Ring Of Honor Date: January 26, 2022 We took a little detour last week into the history of the women’s division but this time around we should be back to normal. Well, at least as normal as you can get while the company is on hiatus and we’re looking at the Best Of Ring of Honor. That could mean a few things, but odds are we’ll be seeing more of the recent stuff. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Narrator Ian Riccaboni welcomes us to the show, where we will be going back to Final Battle in December 2021. TV Title: Dalton Castle vs. Rhett Titus vs. Joe Hendry vs. Silas Young Castle is defending and it’s one fall to a finish, with Castle bailing to the floor to walk into the crowd. Hendry gets taken outside so Young can send him into the barricade. Back in and Castle t-bone suplexes Young, meaning it’s time for a lap around the ring. Titus comes in for a quick rollup but gets sent outside for an apron flip dive from Young. Hendry blasts Titus with a clothesline but gets belly to be..
So much for the gold. We are in the middle of a pretty weird time in wrestling and that might not be getting back to normal for a good while. One of the biggest changes has been the demise of the original version of Ring of Honor. The promotion has been around for nearly twenty years and now it seems that things are never going to be the same again. Now we have another change to go with it. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ring of Honor will be focusing on its World Title, Women’s Title and Tag Team Titles. As a result, the company will be retiring its Television Title (currently held by Rhett Titus), the Pure Title (Josh Woods) and the Six Man Tag Team Titles (the Righteous). The three remaining titles will be treated as traveling championship with Jonathan Gresham, Deonna Purrazzo and the Briscoes defending the championships in various promotions. These matches will serve as the Ring of Honor television show when Ring of Honor returns in April. Those are some big tit..
Ring of Honor Date: October 27, 2021 Location: 2300 Arena, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Caprice Coleman Well now everything has changed. Ring of Honor’s future suddenly looks WAY different and that is not the best news. I’m not sure what is going to happen with the company but it is clear that things are going to be wrapping up. Hopefully the final few shows are good, but this is very uncharted territory. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Vincent is checking himself in the mirror and has the rest of the Righteous say that “he” is going to love it. Quinn McKay runs down the card, which is all based on Violence vs. Pure. Rhett Titus vs. Tony Deppen Both of them talk about how they want to show that their style is better. They go with the technical stuff on the mat as Deppen wants to show he can do this too. Titus grabs a test of strength and powers him to the mat without much effort but Deppen reverses into a leglock. That’s broken up and we take an early..
Add it to the list. WWE is known for a lot of things and some of them are less positive than others. However, there are a few things that they do rather well and it is cool to see them doing it again and again. That is certainly the case with their record on charity, as WWE has worked with a variety of groups over the years. Some of their individual wrestlers have as well, and now one of them has done something pretty big. Sligh Middle Magnet School has been renamed the Thaddeus M. Bullard Academy At Sligh Middle Magnet School, as named after WWE star Titus O’Neil. In a post on Instagram, O’Neil talked about what the dedication meant to him, saying that his association with the school is lifelong and he wants other students to have the same feeling that he had when he was in school. O’Neil has helped support the school over the years and promised to continue to do so. Congratulations to #WWE Global Ambassador @TitusONeilWWE on the unveiling of the Thaddeus M. Bullard Academy at Sligh..
That’s just nice. Every now and then, you find a wrestler who takes their celebrity status and runs with it. They will use their resources to help positively impact a community in one way or another, often through charitable activities. Sometimes a wrestler does more charity work than actual wrestling, with such a situation being on display during this week’s Monday Night Raw. This week’s Monday Night Raw featured a video on Titus O’Neil hosting the 4th Annual Back To School Bash at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The event saw 30,000 children receive backpacks full of school supplies as they begin the new year. O’Neil has been regularly involved with charitable activities and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a recipient of the Warrior Award in 2020. He’s a good guy. Three for one. Titles are the easiest concept in all of wrestling as anyone can get it: someone, either a singles wrestler or a tag team, hold a championship and another wrestler/wrestlers try to take them. There are several ways you can go with that idea, but ultimately it is about getting two people into a ring with a title on the line. That was certainly case over the weekend. There were three title changes at Ring of Honor’s Best In The World pay per view over the weekend. First of all, Dragon Lee defeated Tony Deppen to regain the Television Title. Lee had held the title for a year before having to miss a title defense due to an injury. King lost the title to Tracy Williams, who went on to lose it to Deppen, who held the title for seventy four days. Next up, Homicide and Chris Dickinson of Violence Unlimited won the Tag Team Titles by defeating Jonathan Gresham and Rhett Titus of the Foundation in a Fight Without Honor. Titus was substituting for Jay Lethal, who had lost a match..
You don’t find people like him very often. There are a lot of uncertainties in the world at the moment as there are all kinds of problems that grow every day. You never know how much worse it is going to get with each passing day and that is the kind of thing that makes the problems even worse. However, every now and then you hear something that makes it feel a little better. On Wednesday, a lot of things changed in WWE with nearly forty releases or furloughs. That isn’t something you hear about every day and it shook up the company in a big way. This was a major hit for several people as several of them are going to be facing an uncertain future. With so many problems going on and a lot of coworkers losing their jobs, one wrestler is doing something incredible anyway. Titus O’Neil has announced that he and NFL quarterback Jameis Winston have each donated $25,000 to the Metropolitan Ministries. The charity is helping deliver food boxes to poorer families in the Tampa, Florida area, a..
Ring of Honor Date: March 18, 2020 Location: UMBC Events Center, Baltimore, Maryland Commentators: Caprice Coleman, Ian Riccaboni Host: Quinn McKay This has to be the last show from Baltimore right? If my math is correct, they should have seven or eight weeks of television from their last two shows, but after that it’s going to be interesting in a hurry. These shows have been good so far and hopefully the trend continues this week. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. We open with a recap of Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham winning the Tag Team Titles in a great match at Final Battle. Battle Royal Beer City Bruiser, Brawler Milonas, Tracy Williams, Cheeseburger, Josh Woods, Brian Johnson, PJ Black, Silas Young, Blue Meanie, Rhett Titus, Maria Manic, Gangrel, Delirious, Eli Isom, Kenny King, Dragon Lee, Crowbar, Dak Draper, Danhausen, Leon St. Giovanni The winner gets a future World Title shot. Gangrel blows the liquid in King’s face during entrances and most of the people get in at t..
Good to see you again. This week on Monday Night Raw, Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Roode won a Tag Team Turmoil match to become the new #1 contenders for the Raw Tag Team Titles. Their title shot will come at Clash Of Champions against new champions Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman, who won the titles in their first match as a team. It is clear that WWE is paying attention to tag teams, which makes another development more understandable. According to Wrestlinginc.com, Heath Slater and Titus O’Neil wrestled in a match during this week’s Main Event tapings, defeating Eric Young and Mojo Rawley before Monday Night Raw went on the air. Slater and O’Neil teamed together as Slater Gator from late 2014 until early 2015 with little success. There is no reason to believe that this is anything more than a one off match instead of a full time reunion. They were kind of legendary. Check out one of their rather amusing promos, complete with a mascot: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinio..
Main Event Date: November 1, 2018 Location: Spectrum Center, Charlotte, North Carolina Commentators: Vic Joseph, Nigel McGuinness, Percy Watson It’s the final show before Crown Jewel, meaning it’s going to be a lot of focus on that show, again without saying where it actually takes place. In addition to all that though, it would be nice if we could have something fresh for the original content, which has been the case around here lately. That’s a nice way to help the show going forward and hopefully it happens again here. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Titus O’Neil vs. Mojo Rawley They go straight to the power lockup to start with neither being able to get anywhere. Some right hands sends Mojo bailing to the floor and a dog bark fills in the time. Back in and Mojo gets in a shot out of the corner, followed by a hard clothesline. The chinlock goes on, and then the chinlock goes on again to keep things fresh. Titus fights up and drives him into the corner for a splash. Mojo is rig..
Raw Superstar Titus O’Neil, according to WWE.com, may be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe alongside former WWE Superstar Batista. O’Neil has worked for WWE for years, but he may have his big break in Hollywood. O’Neil took to his Twitter account to reveal he is dropping from 284 pounds to 270 pounds to make weight for an acting role. He had the following to say in his tweet: “284lbs now 6weeks from today I’ll be ready for a Lifelong Goal 2be reached&I’m excited about the process to go down to a Leaner 41-year-old 270lb @Marvel Character. Has nothing to do with @WWE but everything to do with being a Blessed Man! @DaveBautista I’ll see you soon.” Check out his tweet: 284lbs now 6weeks from today I’ll be ready for a Lifelong Goal 2be reached&I’m excited about the process to go down to a Leaner 41 year old 270lb @Marvel Character ?? Up and down, just like Titus O’Neil. To say it’s been a busy month in the WWE would be a huge understatement. I can’t think of a month before with so much stuff going on at once. While this is certainly going to mess with the wrestlers themselves, it can also cause issues for the fans trying to keep track of everything. Even if they’re confused, all that matters is whether or not those fans are still watching the shows. So did this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw do well? Miss the show? Here are some quick highlights. [This post contains video, click to play] According to 411mania.com, this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw drew a 1.08 rating in the 18-49 demographic rating and 3.066 million viewers. These numbers are up 3% and down 1% over last week’s 1.05 demographic rating and 3.104 million viewers. This week’s show was headlined by an Intercontinental Title match between champion Seth Rollins and challenger Finn Balor while also dealing with the fallou..
