A new champion being crowned marks a changing of the guard, as you have someone else becoming one of the to stars in a promotion. It can mean even more if multiple titles change hands in a single night, which was the case this weekend in the span of a few hours. Over the weekend, Roxanne Perez won the NXT Iron Woman Challenge at Deadline to become the new #1 contender for the NXT Women’s Title. A gimmick can help, and that was on display this weekend at a live event. WWE referee Aja Smith won the WWE 24/7 Title from Nikki Ash at a WWE live event in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on Saturday. Ash was scheduled to defend against Dana Brooke but stopped to show Smith, who rolled her up with fellow WWE referee Shawn Bennett counting the pin. Bennett then tried to roll Smith up for the title but only counted his own two. Ash then won the title back and eventually released footage of the whole situation. The main event of this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite saw Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland win the AEW Tag Team Titles, defeating Team Taz and reigning champions the Young Bucks. Strickland pinned Ricky Stars with the Swerve Stomp to win the titles. The win marks the first title in the company for either Strickland or Lee and ends the Bucks’ record third reign. This week’s AEW Dynamite featured Wardlow defeating Scorpio Sky in a street fight to become the new TNT Champion. The win markes Wardlow’s first title of any kind in AEW. The match came about after Sky cheated to retain the title over Wardlow in their previous match.
