It seemed to work. With so many wrestlers around today, it can be a little bit difficult to find time for everyone to make an impression. One of the easiest ways is to put people together in a team, but even then they have to be established in some way. This can be tricky to do as well, but AEW pulled it off this week. It turns out they had a pretty long term plan in mind. Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland won the AEW Tag Team Titles in the main event of this week’s edition of Dynamite. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the title change was a long term plan and the match was designed to elevate Lee/Strickland and Team Taz up to the next level. This came as the Hardys, Santana and Ortiz and Jurassic Express are all gone for the time being for various reasons. Strickland and Lee’s tension over the last few weeks was included as a way to continue teasing a possible breakup and make their win a surprise. That would have been different. Title matches are some of the most important parts of any wrestling show. A title changing hands can mean a new direction for the wrestlers or perhaps even the promotion as a whole. It can be a big deal to see a title change hands and that was the case again this week. However, it seems that things did not change as originally planned. The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite saw the Young Bucks win the AEW Tag Team Titles from Jurassic Express in a ladder match. The match was originally supposed to include the Hardys but Jeff Hardy’s arrest resulted in the team being pulled. According to Fightful Select, some AEW wrestlers had heard plans of a possible Tag Team Title run for the Hardys before Double Or Nothing. However, Hardy was reportedly intoxicated in the hotel lobby over Double Or Nothing weekend. Double History: Title Change And Betrayal Take Place On AEW Dynamite

Double history has been made. AEW has only been around for a little over three years now and that time has seen the company build up its own history. The company has a series of championships and stars in its time and that means they are able to put together some very good things. That was the case again this week as history was made in more ways than just one. The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite saw the Young Bucks regain the AEW Tag Team Titles from Jurassic Express in a ladder match. This makes the Bucks the first ever two time champions in the company’s history. Following the loss, Christian Cage, who had been serving as a mentor to Jurassic Express, turned on the team by attacking Jungle Boy. The match was originally scheduled to include the Hardys but they were removed following Jeff Hardy’s DUI arrest earlier this week. It Gets Worse: More On Jeff Hardy’s Arrest, Off Of AEW TV

It gets bigger. There are very few modern wrestling stars on the level of Jeff Hardy. After one of the most successful tag team careers in history, Hardy went on to become a top singles star and multiple time World Champion. However, personal issues have taken their toll on him, including another DUI arrest earlier this week. Now things have gotten even worse for Hardy. According to F4WOnline.com, following Hardy’s DUI arrest, WarnerMedia issued a decree that Hardy was not to be used in any more promotion for AEW programming. A ladder match scheduled for this week’s AEW Dynamite between the Hardys, the Young Bucks and the Jurassic Express is no longer being advertised in AEW’s official preview. In addition, according to PWInsider.com, Hardy has paid his bond and will appear in court on Tuesday at 1:30 PM. VIDEO: Wrestling Legend Makes Surprise AEW Appearance (And It’s AWESOME)

I remember him. There have been so many wrestlers throughout the years that it can be difficult to remember all of them. All kinds of stars come and go with little to no impact, but there are some that stand out for one reason or another. That is the case with a bunch of stars from WWE’s Attitude Era and another one was back this week, albeit for a completely different company. Former WWE star Gangrel made a surprise appearance this week on AEW Rampage, accompanying the Young Bucks to the ring for their match. This was part of a Young Bucks parody of the Hardys, who Gangrel briefly managed in WWE as the New Brood. Following the match, the Bucks attacked Gangrel but the Hardys ran in for the save. There is nothing to suggest that this is anything more than a one off appearance. This was hilarious. Pile Them On: Three New Matches Announced For AEW Double Or Nothing

That’s a lot of new stuff. We are just over a week away from AEW’s Double Or Nothing pay per view and that means the majority of the card is set. The key word there is majority though, as there is always time to add something else to the show. AEW did just that this week, as three more matches were announced for the show within the span of an hour of television. AEW announced three new matches for Double Or Nothing during this week’s edition of Rampage. First, the Young Bucks challenged the Hardys to a tag match, which was made official later in the show. Next, the Death Triangle unveiled a tombstone with HOUSE OF BLACK and the Double Or Nothing logo, confirming that their match will take place as well. Finally, Jade Cargill challenged Anna Jay to a TBS Title match after Jay chased Cargill off earlier in the night. There’s a flashback. Stables are something that have done a lot of good for wrestling over the years. Putting a group of wrestlers together under a common banner is something that has worked for a long time and it continues to do so to this day. There have been some very interesting ones over the years but now one of the lesser remembered ones has made a brief comeback. The New Brood had a reunion in a tag match at a Big Time Wrestling event on Saturday night in Prince George, Virginia. The match saw the Hardys faced Gangrel and Joey Janela, who billed themselves as the New New Brood. Gangrel and the Hardys teamed together in 1999 in the WWF against Edge and Christian, the former members of Gangrel’s Brood. Following the match, Gangrel and the Hardys posed together as part of the reunion. The wrestlers have been a mixture of new wrestlers, up and coming stars and established veterans, some of whom are able to get a new life in AEW. That is what happened last week, and now we have a little more to see from what happened. Last week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured the debut of Jeff Hardy, who saved his brother Matt from an attack. This latest edition of Being The Elite features bonus footage from Jeff’s debut, including Jeff standing backstage and hearing his entrance music start. There he is. Wrestlers jump from promotion to promotion fairly frequently these days, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting. It can be a lot of fun to see someone show up in a different company, as you never know what they might be doing. Sometimes it is nearly impossible to hide who is going to be showing up though and that was the case again with the latest debut. Jeff Hardy made his AEW debut this week on Dynamite, saving his brother Matt, Sting and Darby Allin from an attack at the hands of Andrade El Idolo, Private Party and the Butcher and the Blade. This came three months after Jeff was released from WWE after walking out on a match at a live event. There is no word on what Jeff will be doing now that he is a part of AEW. That’s a no then. WWE has had a lot of stars over the years and some of them have done rather well during their time with the company. While several of them have won championships, a smaller number have been enshrined in the WWE Hall of Fame. For WWE stars, it is perhaps the greatest honor possible and WWE inducts a class every year. That will not be the case for one star this year and he has a very specific reason. Last year, Jeff Hardy walked out on WWE during a match at a live event. Hardy has yet to appear for another wrestling promotion since, though according to his brother Matt, Jeff turned down an offer to return to WWE. The offer included an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, which Jeff declined. Matt discussed Jeff’s decision during a recent Twitch stream, saying that Jeff turned the offer down because it was a solo induction rather than the Hardys team. That can make for some good and bad moments, as you almost don’t know what you re going to get from time to time. In this case, a pair of wrestling brothers are back again, though in this case it comes after an incident that was not the greatest sight to behold. Last week, WWE officially released Jeff Hardy from his contract following an incident at a live event earlier in the month. Hardy was released after walking out on a match and refusing to go to rehab. Since his release, Hardy has appeared on his brother Matt’s YouTube channel in a pair of videos. That’s some quality trolling. There are certain wrestlers who just connect with the fans in the right way. You see them come to the ring and the fans instantly react, which is not something that happens very often. It can be a mixture of a lot of things and the wrestler’s theme music is one of them. That was used in quite the act of messing with the audience over the weekend. AEW’s Matt Hardy appeared at a Battleground Championship Wrestling event at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Saturday. Hardy was scheduled to wrestle in a tag match and said that he was bringing in family to help. The Hardys’ WWE theme song played and AEW’s Marq Quen appeared, imitating Matt’s brother Jeff. Holy dream team! Tag team wrestling has rarely been WWE’s strong suit. Yes they had a great run back in the 1980s, but other than that and the period of Edge and Christian, the Hardys and the Dudley Boyz, there have not exactly been a lot of great times for WWE’s tag team divisions. They have a tendency to group big names together as bigger tag teams, which one wrestler is teasing doing again. While it has died down a bit in recent years, there was a time when the Bullet Club was the hottest group in professional wrestling. The team went from a group of wrestlers in New Japan Professional Wrestling to one of the biggest things around, to the point where they had quite a bit to do with the rise of AEW. Over the years, the stable has had quite a few members, but now two of them may be up for a WWE reunion. Jeff Hardy Injured Over The Weekend At WWE Live Event

Flying leaps can take their toll. According to a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Jeff Hardy was injured at a Live Event over the weekend. Jeff, along with his brother Matt, were taking on the Usos on Saturday evening, when the injury occurred. Dave Meltzer reported that Hardy appeared to have suffered some sort of leg injury. This was evident at Sunday’s SmackDown Live Event in Rochester, Minnesota, as Jeff was in Matt’s corner and was said to be “limping significantly.” At the show, Matt defeated Jimmy Uso. Furthermore, at Monday’s Live Event in Sioux City, Iowa, Matt Hardy teamed with R-Truth to defeat Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows. The Process Of Elimination. The Addition Of Several Names To A Battle Royal Suggests Matches Being Left Off WrestleMania.

You have to fill in the ranks somehow. With less than two weeks to go before WrestleMania 35, two of the matches that are in need of some more details are the battle royals, which could combine for nearly fifty names making it onto the show. While it’s interesting to see who is included in the field, the rosters can also show you what might not be taking place on the show, which may be the case here. WWE.com has revealed a list of twenty six more names for the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, bringing the total number of entrants to twenty nine, along with the already entered Michael Che, Colin Jost and Braun Strowman. The additional names (listed below) include Chad Gable, Bobby Roode and the Hardys. This would heavily suggest (though not guarantee) that these four will not be involved in a Tag Team Title match on the show. With these names announced, there is a strong possibility of no SmackDown Tag Team Title match and a somewhat less likely chance of a Raw Tag Team Title mat..

The most asked question was what would be happening with the Broken Universe. After a long delay, the characters debuted a few months back, and tonight it was the grand culmination with the Ultimate Deletion. So who was deleted? And so it begins. Dang it Jeff. Last year at “Wrestlemania XXXIII”, the Hardys returned to WWE for the first time in nearly ten years. It was possibly the biggest moment of the night and since then, fans have been clamoring to see Jeff Hardy make a singles run. Now though, something has gotten in the way of that happening. It’s still a great moment. [This post contains video, click to play] According to PWInsider.com, Jeff was arrested for driving while impaired on Saturday night in Cameron County, North Carolina. There aren’t many specifics on what happened but Jeff has had his driver’s license suspended for thirty days and has a trial date of April 28. There is no word on what this may mean for his WWE status, though he is currently recovering from shoulder surgery. Jeff might need to help his brother in a big match soon. Backstage News On the Plans For “The Ultimate Deletion”

It was previously reported that Matt Hardy has challenged Bray Wyatt to a match at the “Hardy Compound,” which is being referred to as “The Ultimate Deletion.” The challenge occurred on this past week’s episode of “Raw,” which you can see below: [This post contains video, click to play] According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the current plan is for the match to occur on “Raw” as opposed to WrestleMania. The reason for that is because although the matches that were done at the Hardy Compound in TNA drew a lot of interest, the Hardys were the focal point of TNA at that time. This is not necessarily the case in WWE. In addition, if Jeff Hardy returns in time, there is talk of a match between The Hardys and Sheamus & Cesaro at WrestleMania for the “Raw” Tag Team titles.
