Upgrade: Health Update On Missing Wrestling Legend
That could have been worse. There are all kinds of issues that a wrestler can deal with while they are in the ring, some of which are a lot more serious than others. Those issues do not go away after their careers are over though and sometimes the issues get even worse. That was the case for a certain wrestling legend, but now things have taken a turn for the better. AEW’s Jake Roberts has announced that he is no longer requiring oxygen and will be back in AEW again. This comes after Roberts has been missing from AEW television for several months due to reported health issues, including reports that he had been receiving oxygen through a tube. Roberts has mainly served as Lance Archer’s manager during his time with the company. It is not clear when Roberts will be returning to AEW TV. Off oxygen for good!! Standing tall doing great. Take Four: Famous Wrestling Promotion Considers Comeback After 4 Year Hiatus
Welcome back? There are all kinds of wrestling promotions in the world and most of them do not look like anything WWE or AEW. The majority of wrestling promotions are run on smaller scales in front of fewer fans. At the same time though there are some promotions with reputations from name alone, and now another one of them might be on their way back to life. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Sweeten The Pot: Contract Details On Returning WWE Superstars According to Inside The Ropes, World Of Sport is considering a relaunch, though it is not clear when it might take place. The promotion returned in 2016 and 2018 but has not continued saved for a live event tour. There is no word on how the promotion would be presented, but an NWA model, with studio shows and live events is being considered. The company has reportedly reached out to both Nick Aldis and Mickie James, though there is no word on how far any talks have gone. The company does have some history. Sweeten The Pot: Contract Details On Returning WWE Superstars
Sign them up. There are several wrestling promotions in the world but there are only a handful that are able to run full time. Those promotions are able to keep wrestlers around on a more secure basis and they often include full time contracts. Signing one of those deals can change a wrestler’s career and now we know some more about a few recent signees to the biggest promotion in the world. Several WWE stars have returned to the company in recent months, including three of the four members of Hit Row. According to Fightful Select, the three (Top Dolla, Ashante Thee Adonis and B Fab) all signed three year deals, which will expire at the same time in 2025. Some of the recent returning stars (not necessarily Hit Row) are also able to work on some outside projects and appear on other platforms. The returns have done well. WATCH: Huge Title Match Takes Place After SmackDown
That’s how you wrap it up. A lot of different things take place at any given WWE television taping. You can get some huge matches and special appearances, but there are some people who just are not going to be able to make the broadcast. Most of the time WWE will add in something else after the show to sweeten the pot a bit and this week was no exception either. This week’s SmackDown featured a backstage promo featuring SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey saying that she would not be issuing an open challenge for a title shot. Instead, she would issue one the following week because she wanted to get out of Ohio. However, Rousey did wrestle later in the night, defeating Natalya in a SmackDown Women’s Title match after the show went off the air. There is your star power. Kevin Nash’s Son, Tristen, Passes Away At Age 26
We have some very sad news to report today as Kevin Nash’s son, Tristen, has tragically passed away at the age of 26. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported the news and issued the following statement: “On behalf of Kevin and Tamara Nash, I have to unfortunately report that their son Tristen Nash has tragically passed away at the age of 26. Tristen recently started working on Kevin’s new podcast and the two enjoyed their time together. AEW Star Makes Surprise Return After Four Month Absence
Welcome home. There are a lot of ways to bring a wrestler back after time away from the company and one of the best is as a surprise partner. That is something that can do well on its own but there are ways to sweeten it even more. Bringing someone back in the right place can make it even better and that is what took place this week to some very positive result. This week, AEW made its Canadian debut with a show in Toronto. During the show, the Embassy challenged FTR to a match later in the week on Rampage, with FTR bringing out Toronto’s Shawn Spears to be their partner. Spears has not wrestled since May 25 after being injured. There is no word on if this is a full on babyface turn for Spears or just a one off due to being in his hometown. Opinion: This was a well done setup and the place did go nuts for Spears’ TEN entrance. Impact Wrestling Date: September 29, 2022 Location: Skyway Studios, Nashville, Tennessee Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan We are done with Victory Road and that means we are only a little over a week away from Bound For Glory. I’m still not sure why Victory Road was such a necessary show before the biggest night of the year but at least it wasn’t an eventful night, meaning Bound For Glory got even more build. Hopefully that can continue tonight so let’s get to it. Opening recap. Bullet Club vs. Trey Miguel/Laredo Kid It’s Ace Austin/Chris Bey for the Club, with Juice Robinson in their corner. Austin and Kid start things off with an exchange of wristlocks but hold on as Austin needs to hold up Too Sweet. A quick high crossbody gives Kid an early two so it’s Bey offering a distraction so Austin can take over on the arm. There’s the next generation. There are a lot of wrestlers in the world today though some of them are away from the ring at times. Those wrestlers are still waiting to get back to the ring at some point, but there are things that can slow them down. Some of those things are very good news though and that is the case again, as two wrestlers have a very positive announcement. AEW star Shawn Spears and former WWE and Impact Wrestling star Cassie Lee (better known as Peyton Royce) have announced that they are expecting a child. WATCH: Keith Lee’s Emotional Speech After AEW Dynamite
A bittersweet moment. Wrestlers do a lot of things in front of the cameras and most of the time, it can be pretty entertaining. That leaves fans with quite a few things to see, often as part of a live crowd. You get to see all kinds of things when you go to a live television taping, some of which is done after the television cameras are turned off. That was the case again this week in a rather emotional moment. The main event of this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite saw Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland win the Tag Team Titles from the Young Bucks in a three way match, also involving Team Taz. Following the win, Lee addressed the crowd, talking about how there are very few people he is close to in life. This includes a man named Lascelles King, who was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer earlier this week. That’s something special. Wrestlers can be in a weird place when it comes to celebrity status, as while they are television stars, they are also stuck in the wrestling bubble. While that can keep them from breaking through to another level, there is quite the status for them right where they are. That was on display recently in a very sweet moment for a group of people. New York school teacher Victor Perry runs a wrestling club with his students where wrestling is used to teach life lessons. During their most recent meeting, WWE star Sasha Banks made a surprise appearance to meet with the students, take photos with her WWE Women’s Tag Team Title and sign autographs. How Sweet It Is: New Super Team Seems To Form On WWE Monday Night Raw
A pair to draw to. WWE has a unique history with tag team wrestling as they very rarely tend to focus on it. Rather than building up traditional teams, WWE tends to like to put two singles wrestlers together as makeshift teams, often leading to major tag matches. That seems to be the case again, as some top stars seem to be coming together on a heck of a collision course. This week on Monday Night Raw, AJ Styles defeated Damian Priest in a singles match. After the match was over, Priest’s partner Edge attacked Styles, with Priest and Edge attempting to further damage Styles’ shoulder. This caused Finn Balor, who has had issues with Edge and Priest in recent weeks, to run in for the save. Balor and Styles, both former members of the Bullet Club, then did the Too Sweet gesture. No match has been made between the two teams. That’s a pretty sweet deal. WWE has long since been the biggest and most powerful wrestling company in the world. They also make by far the most money, with a lot of that coming from the simple idea of renting out their name. The WWE name still means a lot in the way of promotion, and that was on display again recently, albeit to the tune of a six figure payday. WWE has been promoting an upcoming boxing match between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano on its social media platforms. According to Sportico, the deal with DAZN, the company presenting the fight, has brought nearly $500,000 in to WWE. The deal was put together by Stephanie McMahon and the winner of the fight is being awarded a custom Raw Women’s Title. Rebellion 2022 Date: April 24, 2022 Location: Majed J. Nesheiwat Convention Center, Poughkeepsie, New York Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan It’s back to pay per view for Impact and this time they have made me want to see what they have to offer. The main event is a long awaited showdown between Moose and Josh Alexander for the World Title, after Moose took the title at Bound For Glory and then went after Alexander’s family. That’s a special one. There are a lot of complications that come with being in the wrestling business, with relationships being up near the top of the list. Being in a relationship is hard enough for regular people but being on the road all the time makes it even more complicated. It can be difficult to find time together, but now two wrestlers have found a way to make it work in a unique way. Former WWE stars Killer Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux have announced that they have eloped to Alaska and are now married, having held the ceremony in a glacier. Kross also revealed that the two wrestled at a show the following night. The two have been dating for several years and were paired together in NXT, though not when Kross was called up to the main roster in 2021. Alexa Bliss Gets Married Over The Weekend
Wedding Bells are ringing! According to People magazine, Alexa Bliss married her long-time sweetheart, musician Ryan Cabrera, over the weekend. Their wedding was “very non-traditional,” “rockstar” and self-described as “the s–tshow.” The couple was interviewed two weeks prior to their wedding; below are some highlights: On their wedding venue: “We were like, ‘Oh my God,’ it’s absolutely perfect,” Cabrera said. “It’s absolutely gorgeous and nestled within the mountains. Vince McMahon’s Mother Passes Away
We have some sad news to report this morning as Vince McMahon’s mother, Vicky Askew, has passed away at the age of 101. She died peacefully in her sleep at her home in The Woodlands, TX, just outside of Houston. From her obituary: Vicki was born on July 11, 1920 in Florence, South Carolina, the only daughter of four children of Orpheus William Hanner and Victoria Kennedy Hanner. The family moved when Vicki was a young girl to Sanford and then to East Sanford, NC where she spent her childhood. Vicki was blessed with two sons, Rod and Vince, both of whom married their childhood sweethearts. Sadly, Rod passed away one year to the day before his mother. Vicki’s childhood was tough. She spoke of it in an interview for the North Shore Church in 2018: “My mother had to go to work to support me and my three brothers. She started by selling Avon. During the Great Depression, I remember drawing my foot on pasteboard and putting it in my shoe (the sole had holes and no one could afford new s..

Sometimes a wrestler has to go away for a little while due to one reason or another, with some of those reasons being more serious than others. This time around, a departure was for something rather positive, and now we might be ready to see them again. Lacey Evans has been missing from WWE television since February 15, when she announced that she was pregnant. Evans has since gone on to give birth in October and is preparing for a return to WWE. We have some sad news to report today as WWE Hall of Famer, Blackjack Lanza, has passed away at the age of 86. From WWE.com: [Blackjack] Jack Lanza was a man’s man, respected and beloved by all.
