REVIEW: Survivor Series 1990: Here’s An Important One

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Survivor Series 1990 Date: November 22, 1990 Location: Hartford Civic Center, Hartford, Connecticut Attendance: 16,000 Commentators: Gorilla Monsoon, Roddy Piper This is a somewhat different show that in recent years as we have a main event of sorts. Scott Hall On Life Support After Suffering Three Heart Attacks

Please get better. Wrestlers are a lot of things, including some of the most over the top, larger than life characters that you will see in all of television. They are able to showcase their abilities in front of a lot of people at the same time, ranging from television to live events. However, they are still humans, and that means bad things can happen to them, which was the case this week. PW Torch is reporting that WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall is on life support at a hospital in Marietta, Georgia after suffering three heart attacks. Hall underwent hip replacement surgery last week but a blood clot got loose to cause the issue. There is no word on Hall’s chances for survival or what his next steps will be. Hall was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014 on his own and again in 2020 as part of the New World Order. Opinion: All that matters here is Hall’s health and hopefully he is able to make a full recovery. This is about as serious as you can get as Hall is literally survivin..

KB’s Review: Survival Of The Laziest

I’ve been watching wrestling for a very long time and one of my favorite VHS (look it up) tapes was Survivor Series 1987. The late 80s WWF is my favorite era of wrestling ever and this show (plus the next few years) had almost everyone you could want to see on a WWF show from this time. You had a midcard match with ten wrestlers, a women’s match with ten wrestlers, a tag match with twenty (!) wrestlers and a main event match with ten more, including Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant for the first time since the most famous match in history. That’s the kind of thing that made me always want to see the Survivor Series. Where else were you going to see Rick Rude vs. Hulk Hogan or Strike Force vs. Demolition or Randy Savage vs. Hercules (outside of house shows)? It was the kind of card that gave you such a buffet of options and it was awesome to see every single year….at least up until you reach a certain point. Nick Gage Makes His Debut In AEW

The roster continues to grow. AEW has added a number of new talent to its roster as of late, including Andrade El Idolo and Malakai Black. Tonight, on Dynamite: Fyter Fest Part 2, the roster grew by one more as Nick Gage made his debut. MJF introduced him as Chris Jericho’s opponent for a No Rules match on next week’s show. That is not a bad thing either, but we also have to set up the rest of the Survival of the Fittest tournament.
