That’s worth celebrating. There are all kinds of wrestlers on the WWE roster and they portray several different characters. Watching any given WWE show offers a big mixture of different looks, styles and personae, but it can be fascinating to see them mix together. One thing they all have in common is that they do other things once the cameras stop rolling, which was the case in a big way recently. They’ll be back. AEW has several strengths and one of them is the depth of its roster. The company has so many wrestlers from around the world who are well versed in different styles and techniques, allowing for different kinds of matches. One of the drawbacks of this is having wrestlers miss time due to international issues, which seems to be the case again for several names. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Catch You Later: Former WWE Champion Gone For The Time Being According to Wrestling Observer Radio, several AEW stars are currently missing due to visa issues. This includes both of the Lucha Bros as well as Bandido, who have not wrestled on television since January. There is no word on when they will be back in the ring or on AEW TV. This comes after Kenny Omega was forced to miss some shows before returning a few weeks later. There is some talent missing from AEW TV. They’ll be around. One of the biggest WWE stories of the last several months has been the return of several wrestlers after their releases from the company the previous year. It can mean a lot to have these wrestlers back, especially when some of them did not leave on the best of terms. Two wrestlers in particular are back with the company and now we know a little more about it. Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Royal Rumble 2017 Date: January 29, 2017 Location: Alamodome, San Antonio, Texas Attendance: 52,020 Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton, Mauro Ranallo, John Bradshaw Layfield, David Otunga, Tom Phillips It’s kind of amazing how much this show has been forgotten in just about a year. Other than AJ Styles vs. John Cena, I can barely remember a single thing about this show. I know who won the Rumble and who were some of the bigger stars in the match but the rest is kind of a blur, which isn’t a good s..
One less? Wrestling has been around for a very long time and a lot of that time has seen it airing on television. It makes all the sense in the world as anyone can watch a wrestling match and get the basic idea. There are all kinds of ways to present wrestling and different promotions around the world have showcased it in varying styles. Now though, we might not be seeing one of them again. In a new post on his personal blog, New Japan’s Hiroshi Tanahashi revealed that New Japan Strong, the weekly New Japan American television series, will be coming to an end after this weekend’s television tapings. There was no reason given as to why the show would be coming to an end. However, last month, New Japan President Takami Ohbari said that New Japan Strong “will be rebuilt next year” (meaning 2023). ???????STRONG???????????????????#njpwSTRONG will be rebuilt next year. — ????/Takami Ohbari (@TAKAMIOHBARI) December 25, 2022 Strong had some good stuff. That’s up next. There are several types of wrestlers and some of them work well together, with their styles meshing. That can make for some of the most entertaining matches around, especially if you have wrestlers who are good at what they do in the first place. It seems that WWE is setting up what could be an interesting match between wrestlers who could work well together. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: WWE Stable Turns Heel In Surprise Switch On SmackDown The main event of this week’s SmackDown saw the Usos cheat to retain their Tag Team Titles against the team of Sheamus and Drew McIntyre. Following the show, the Viking Raiders came to the ring and attacked McIntyre and Sheamus, suggesting that a match between the teams could be coming. The clip included commentary and was shot like a part of the show. This could be interesting. That’s a harsh one. Injuries are one of the worst things that you can see in wrestling as you never know when one is going to strike. Someone getting hurt can put them on the shelf for a long time and the question becomes how much time a wrestler is going to be out of action. Now a top WWE star is on the injured list again and now we know a bit more about just how bad things are. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Has Surprising John Cena Match Planned For WrestleMania 39 Earlier this week, AJ Styles injured his ankle during a six man tag match at a WWE live event. Styles had to be helped out of the arena but it was not clear how badly he was injured. Styles has since posted to Twitter, announcing that he has suffered a broken ankle, but he will not be undergoing surgery. There is no word on how long Styles will be out of the ring, though he did say it would be the longest absence of his career. Just want you guys to know that I’m ok. Broken ankle is what I’m dealing with...
They had a plan. NXT is a unique wrestling promotion, as it has its own television show but it is also the official WWE developmental territory. That means the wrestlers’ goal is to move up to the main roster and get out of NXT, no matter how well they have done there in the first place. We might know who WWE has in mind as some of the next callups from NXT to the main roster. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: BREAKING: AJ Styles Injured At WWE Live Event, Helped To The Back Earlier this month, WWE released Mandy Rose from the company in a surprise move. The release, reportedly due to a series of risque photos Rose had released online, came less than twenty four hours after Rose lost the NXT Women’s Title to Roxanne Perez. This left Rose’s Toxic Attraction teammates Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne with nothing to do, but according to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE has plans to bring the two to the main roster without Rose. There is no timetable on when this would take place. The team has potential. C..
Uh oh. Injuries can happen to anyone at anytime in wrestling and there is no way to prevent them entirely. It might be a bit. There are all kinds of talented wrestlers on the AEW roster, who have come together to help make the company as popular as it is.
