They might want to hurry up. We are just over four weeks away from WrestleMania 39 and that means things need to come together fast. While the main focus will be on the two night showcase in SoFi Stadium, there are several other events taking place throughout the week. This includes the Hall of Fame induction ceremony the Friday night before WrestleMania, but this year seems a bit different. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He’s Out There: Former World Champion Officially A Free Agent, Possibly Heading To WWE As of Friday, March 3, WWE has not made any official announcement about this year’s Hall of Fame class. According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE is still planning on an induction ceremony, which is included in the ticket to the weekend’s SmackDown. WWE Breaks All-Time Gate Record For WrestleMania 39
People are excited. WWE issued a press release today, stating that they have broken the company’s all-time gate record for any WrestleMania, despite having yet to announce a single match. The previous record announced was $17.3 million in 2016 at WrestleMania 32 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. From the press release: The record gate comes on the heels of unprecedented ticket sales demand for WWE in 2022, in which it produced the highest-grossing gates of all-time for Royal Rumble, Survivor Series and Extreme Rules. Clash at the Castle in Cardiff, Wales, which marked WWE’s first major stadium show in the U.K. in 30 years, was the highest-grossing U.K. event in company history. WWE Likely Changing Plans For Next Year’s Saudi Arabia Show
A change of schedule. There are a lot of WWE events throughout the year and some of them get a lot more attention than others. You know one of the bigger events when you see it and many of those take place in major stadiums. It means something when WWE goes to one of those bigger places and that will be the case again next year, but not as it normally happens. According to PWInsider.com, WWE’s first show in Saudi Arabia of 2023 will not take place in February, as has been the case in 2020 and 2022. Instead, the show is expected to take place “sometime in the spring”, though the exact date is unknown In 2022, WWE ran its annual Elimination Chamber event in Saudi Arabia in February, but the 2023 edition will take place in Montreal. Rampage Date: September 24, 2022 Location: Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York City, New York Commentators: Excalibur, Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Chris Jericho It’s the biggest Rampage of the year as we are in New York City for a stacked two house show. The card is headlined by a battle royal (shocking I know) for the #1 contendership as we have a title shot to get through before Full Gear. WATCH: What Happened After AEW Dynamite Grand Slam
It’s at the end of a big night. There are a lot of things that take place at any given AEW Dynamite taping, including Dark: Elevation and Rampage being taped on the same night. Sometimes it can be even bigger than that though and that was the situation this week. Dynamite took place at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City, which was worthy of a big post show moment. The main event of this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite saw Jon Moxley defeat Bryan Danielson to win the vacant AEW World Title. Following the match, Blackpool Combat Club coach William Regal came to the ring to present Moxley with the title, only to have Danielson take it away to end the show. In a clip circulated online, Danielson presented Moxley with the title after the show, leaving Moxley to celebrate. It was a nice moment.
