WATCH: WWE And AEW Stars Reunite In New Music Video

Together again. The last few years have seen several changes in the rosters for both WWE and AEW. This has included all kinds of releases and signings to the other company, several of which have never gotten their first major change. It can mean a lot for those wrestlers to come back together, which is what happened again recently. This time though it had nothing to do with wrestling. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Mick Foley Wants To Join The Judgment Day (And It’s Great) Former Hit Row teammates Swerve Strickland (AEW), Top Dolla (WWE) and B Fab (WWE) reunited in a music video for the music video for the Monteasy song “Price Went Up”. The group, plus Ashante The Adonis, teamed together in NXT before being called up to the main roster, where they were released just over a month later. Everyone but Strickland was re-signed to WWE last year. It was something different. WATCH: Mick Foley, With Lita, Sings “Sexy Kurt”

A knockoff of a parody? Theme music is one of the most important parts of a wrestler’s presentation. Hearing the right kind of music playing to signal a wrestler’s entrance is the right way to put people in the mood for what they are about to see. Getting it right is a very tricky thing to do but when it works, it works very well. Now we are seeing….oh you’ll just have to watch it for yourself. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: On Paper: What The Contract From Brock Lesnar And Bobby Lashley’s Signing Said Back in 1992, Shawn Michaels began using “Sexy Boy” as his theme music. The song, albeit with Michaels singing the vocals instead, has been his entrance song for over thirty years and still is for his sporadic appearances to this day. During Michaels’ 2005 feud with Kurt Angle, Angle performed his own version called “Sexy Kurt”. Angle has shared a video of Mick Foley, standing next to Lita, singing “Sexy Kurt” at an unidentified event. Foley sings the song along with some fans in front of a di..

DIG IT! Randy Savage’s Rap Album (Yes That One) Is Coming Back In A Special Way

OH YEAH! There have been all kinds of wrestling merchandise over the years and some of them are more unique than others. You never know what you might find out there as occasionally wrestlers will go a bit out of the box to market themselves. On occasion these items are more infamous than anything else and now one of the weirder ones ever is coming back. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Oh Yeah: Steve Austin Officially Set For Upcoming A&E Series Back in 2003, Macho Man Randy Savage released his debut, and only, rap album called “Be A Man”. The album featured an infamous title track attacking Hulk Hogan for various reasons. Recordstoreday.com has announced that the album will be re-released on vinyl for National Record Store Day on April 22. However, there will only be 1000 copies made and released throughout the country. It was a different time. The Wrong Kind: This Royal Rumble Segment Reportedly Did Not Go Over Well Backstage

Are they wrong? A wrestler’s theme music is one of the most important aspects of their entire presentation. Having the right theme music can move a wrestler up to the next level, but the wrong choice can cause them some problems. Music and wrestling often cross paths in other places too and sometimes that is not a good thing. That seems to have been the case last weekend, at least internally in WWE. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It’s Big: Here Is Why WWE Veered From The Usual Elimination Chamber Formula Over the weekend at the WWE Royal Rumble, Hardy gave a live performance of the show’s theme song, “Sold Out”. The song took place between the Women’s Royal Rumble and the show’s main event, with the commentators cracking jokes throughout parts of the performance. According to Fightful Select, most people backstage “scoffed at” the performance, saying it “compromised things”. Hardy was a part of the show. AEW Rampage Reviews – January 20, 2023

Rampage Date: January 20, 2023 Location: Save Mart Center, Fresno, California Commentators: Jim Ross, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Chris Jericho We’re still in California and this week’s Dynamite is going to be a bit tough to follow. There is a good chance that we are going to get some solid matches though, as tends to be the case around here. Rampage can be rather fun when it comes to focusing on some of the lower level stuff and that might be what happens again this week. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Jungle Boy vs. Ethan Page Isaiah Kassidy, Stokely Hathaway and Matt Hardy are here with Page. Chris Jericho rants about the fans singing along with Jungle Boy’s theme song as Page tries an Ego’s Edge out of the corner to start. That’s broken up and Page is sent to the floor, where he pulls Kassidy in the way of a dive. Back in and Page catches Jungle Boy on top but a dropkick puts him right back down. Hold on though as Hathaway interferes but blames Hardy, allowing Page to whip J..

AEW Dynamite Results – January 4, 2023

Dynamite Date: January 4, 2023 Location: Climate Pledge Arena, Seattle, Washington Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Excalibur, Taz We’re in a new year and the big story is a new look for the show. That is somewhat long overdue and the question is will AEW have a good show to back it up. The likely main event is Samoa Joe defending the TNT Title against hometown boy Darby Allin in a rematch from a few weeks back. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence, with remixed themed song. There is a new set with new graphics. Chris Jericho vs. Ricky Starks Feeling out process to start with Starks slapping him in the face and pounding away in the corner. Starks does a rather length Old School but gets knocked to the apron. The triangle dropkick is broken up though and Jericho suplexes him off the apron as we take a break. Back with Starks hitting a running clothesline to leave both of them down. Starks grabs a sitout powerbomb for two, blocks the Codebreaker and hits a superkick for two. Jericho is ri..

WATCH: Former World Champion Makes Surprise SmackDown Return

Welcome home. With so many stars on the WWE roster, it can be difficult to figure out a way to get noticed. There are certin stars who are much bigger than others though and most of them have been a World Champion at some point in their careers. It can mean a lot to have one of them show up, and that is what we got to see again this week in a surprise return. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: LISTEN: Enzo Amore Releases Tribute Song To Hacksaw Jim Duggan The opening match of this week’s SmackDown saw Solo Sikoa defeat Sheamus. This was McIntyre’s first appearance in an arena in over a month as he was out of action with an ear injury. McIntyre’s first match back has also been set, as he and Sheamus will challenge the Usos for the Tag Team Titles next week on SmackDown. This was a good one. LISTEN: Enzo Amore Releases Tribute Song To Hacksaw Jim Duggan

That’s a special tribute. Music has played a big part in wrestling for decades as the right theme song can make or break a wrestler. That can be easier said than done as picking a proper song can be difficult. At times there are wrestlers who are able to put together their own music, but this time around a wrestler has put together a song for one of the more recognizable legends in wrestling history. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Safe At Home: Hacksaw Jim Duggan Explains How He Stopped An Intruder At Gunpoint Enzo Amore, under his musical name of Real1, has released a song called Hacksaw, a tribute to WWE Hall of Famer Hacksaw Jim Duggan. The lyrics include a repeated reference to Duggan waving the flag and standing up for his country. There is nothing to suggest that Duggan was involved in the creation of the song in any way. Amore has released music since he left WWE and performed his own theme song during his time with the company. It’s a nice idea. Check out the song, plus the two in t..

REVIEW: Starrcade 2018: The Tradition Continues

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Starrcade 2018 Date: November 25, 2018 Location: US Bank Arena, Cincinnati, Ohio Commentators: Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton This is something that could range from interesting to head scratching. Last night, WWE held a big house show featuring stars from both shows under the name of Starrcade. The show ran about three and a half hours and tonight we’re seeing a one hour version with some special moments and matches selected. Let’s get to it. We open with Elias playing a little song. He knows it can’t get better than h..

The Bad Version? Asuka Teases Return Of Former Persona (And It’s Scary)

She might need a change. There are different ways to present almost any wrestler. Sometimes a wrestler needs an adjustment to make things go that much better for them. That adjustment might be something brand new or something that they have done before. A WWE star is now suggesting that they might be returning to a previous gimmick that they have used before, but not in this company. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Excuses? Here Is The Surprising Reason Miro Has Been Missing From AEW TV The main event of this week’s Monday Night Raw saw Alexa Bliss defeat Asuka and Becky Lynch in a triple threat match to advance to next week’s #1 contenders match. Following the loss, Asuka posted a string of tweets, showing her in clown makeup, which she used during her time as Kana in Japan. Asuka also said that she did not want respect, but was going to go listen to the new Metallica song and go to bed. pic.twitter.com/Xd99IleI82 — ASUKA / ??? Uh, Yay? AEW Star Officially Reaches Dubious Benchmark

Call it an honor? AEW launched nearly four years ago with its first event in May 2019. The company promised to offer several new ideas and concepts, with one being a more sports based presentation. This included keeping track of wins and losses, which can pile up in a hurry. Now one AEW wrestler has reached a milestone that is noteworthy, but maybe not in the most positive way. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: AEW’s Thunder Rosa Records First Song This week on AEW Dark: Elevation, Lee Moriarty defeated Serpentico in a singles match. The loss gave Serpentico his 100th defeat in AEW, making him the first wrestler to reach that total number of losses in the company. Serpentico made his AEW debut in March 2020 and has wrestled both singles matches as well as teaming with Luther as the Chaos Project. Following his loss, Serpentico commented on the milestone: hold up y’all were counting this ENTIRE time? — MR. PENTICO ?? (@KingSerpentico) December 6, 2022 Serpentico has been around for a ..

WATCH: AEW’s Thunder Rosa Records First Song

It’s another field. Wrestlers are very talented performers in that they are able to go to a ring or grab a microphone and convince fans to watch something that they are doing. That is more difficult than it seems but it can be very effective when it is done right. It also isn’t the only talent that wrestlers have though, and now one prominent name is getting to showcase another one. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Perfect Timing: AEW’s Saraya Undergoes Ironic Surgery AEW’s Thunder Rosa has released a video on her Instagram showing her recording her first single in a studio. Rosa says that the song will be released at some point in early 2023 and that she would be releasing a video of her recording the song on her Patreon. She has also been working with a writer and a singing coach for the song. Rosa has been injured since August and there is no word on when she will be returning to the ring. She seems interested. Seth Rollins Pays Tribute To Brodie Lee At WWE Live Event

Friends Forever. WWE recently ran a live event in Rochester, New York, which featured a match between Seth Rollins and Austin Theory for the United States Championship. Rochester also happens to be the hometown of Brodie Lee, who tragically passed away in December 2020. Following the match, Rollins paid tribute to Brodie and said the following: “Mr. Brodie Lee…he’s from here. He passed away a couple of years ago around this time, and this is the first time I’ve been here with a microphone in my hand in this city to tell him how much I miss him and how much I love him. I just wanted to say tonight was for him. Every time we are in Rochester, in my heart that means we’re here for him. It’s Saturday, and you know what that means, so do your damn thing and sing my song.” Seth Rollins (@WWERollins) gives a tribute to the late Brodie Lee (Luke Harper) in Lee’s hometown of Rochester, NY. ??#WWERochester pic.twitter.com/5BEwryZXZI — Ella Jay (@itsellajay) December 4, 2022 Prior to his tim..

….What? Former WWE Writer Reveals Bizarre Ideas That Didn’t Make It Very Far

It would be an idea. There are all kinds of ways to present a wrestling story and some of them can be issues fans can relate to. At the same time though, there are some stories that are a little bit more outside of reality, as you would not be likely to see them take place in most people’s lives. Now we are hearing about some pitched ideas in WWE that would fit either list. Former WWE writer Brian Gerwitz took to Twitter in response to recent “discussed” Royal Rumble plans. Gerwitz revealed some ideas that were “discussed” during his time with the company. Gerwitz mentioned two stories, neither of which ever made it to television. First up, there was an idea pitched of Vince McMahon having a midlife crisis, resulting in him growing a beard, wearing a Hawaiian shirt and singing Black Eyed Peas songs. The other idea would have involved Kaval, better known as Low Ki, revealed as Undertaker’s long lost son. There is no word on how close WWE came to using either idea. Things “discussed” i..

Switch Em Up: New Theme Music And Ring Name For Monday Night Raw Stars

It’s a different way to go. There are all kinds of ways to make a wrestler stand and sometimes a promotion needs to do something different to shake it up. Occasionally you will see a wrestler get something changed up to offer a new presentation. That was the case again this week, as two wrestlers received a change each to freshen things up just a little bit. This week on Monday Night Raw, a wrestler’s theme song and another wrestler’s ring name were both changed. First up, Johnny Gargano came to the ring for a match with the Miz to a remixed version of his “Rebel Heart” theme, featuring a new vocalist and rift. Later in the show, Mia Yim’s name was changed to “Michin”, which she said means “crazy” in Korean. The name change has also been made official on WWE.com. ?? . Michin (Mee-chin). Crazy. ??#WWERAW @wwe pic.twitter.com/Px64fXiKTy — The HBIC (@MiaYim) November 22, 2022 Gargano got some attention too. AEW TNT Champion Wardlow: “I Have Girls Chained Up In My Bedroom”

Well that’s….unique. Wrestlers are best known for what they do in the ring but there is a completely different side to what they do. While the in-ring work is important, the ability to talk people into watching the show might be the most important thing of all. As a result, wrestlers are going to do a lot of talking a lot of the time and now a prominent star said something rather eye catching. AEW TNT Champion Wardlow appeared on Busted Open Radio this week and discussed how wrestlers are similar to horror movie and television series characters, in that they have characters, gimmicks and a theme song. In particular, Wardlow spoke about the Joe Goldberg character from the “You” TV series, saying he did not know why you would chain people up in your basement. Wardlow then said “I have girls chained up in my bedroom, but no one in my basement”. Wardlow successfully defended the TNT Title against Matt Taven this week on AEW Rampage. Opinion: Well that’s certainly a statement that is goin..

WATCH: Shotzi, Scarlett Bordeaux And Harley Cameron Release New Music Video

That might draw some attention. Wrestlers are a lot of things, including athletes and storytellers, but ultimately they are entertainers in one form or another. This can take a variety of forms, with wrestlers often trying out different gimmicks to see what they can make work. Sometimes their talents spill over outside of the ring and that is what some WWE stars have done again. WWE has released a music video of Shotzi, Scarlett Bordeaux and Harley Cameron singing I Put A Spell On You from the movie Hocus Pocus. The three have released music before, with Cameron as the featured star and Shotzi and Bordeaux as featured performers. The song has not been acknowledged on WWE TV and Shotzi and Bordeaux have never appeared together in any way. This is pretty awesome. Check out the song plus another video from the trio: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is one of those things that you do not expect to see but it turned out..

WEIRD VIDEO: WWE Airs QR Code During As White Rabbit Mystery Continues

That’s a little spooky. There are a lot of ways to present a wrestler on any given show. Sometimes the best way is to bring them out simply, have them win some matches and go from there. That is the easiest and most common method, but sometimes you need something a bit more complicated. WWE is certainly doing that at the moment and now they are at it again. This week on Monday Night Raw, a QR cord appeared in the background of a backstage segment. Scanning the code brought up a short video of a white rabbit playing a game of Hangman, with the question “Who Killed The World” at the top. The rabbit then makes the words “YOU DID” appear on screen and “9-23” then appears. This comes less than a week after WWE played the song “White Rabbit” during a commercial break on SmackDown. It is not clear what this is referencing. It’s certainly different. Check out what WWE aired: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I’m not sure what this is but it would seem to be either somethin..

WATCH: WWE Teases….Something During SmackDown Commercial Break

That sounds like a tease. There have been all kinds of returns to WWE in recent weeks and there is still a chance that several more could be taking place. One of the questions is whether a return will be a surprise or something that WWE builds up in advance, as either is possible at any given time. It seems that WWE might have been teasing something on a much smaller scale. During a commercial break this week on SmackDown, the lights in the arena dimmed and the song “White Rabbit” Jefferson Airplane played. The fans in the arena put up their phones ala Bray Wyatt’s fireflies, which according to Inside The Ropes, could have been a hint at a Wyatt return. However, it could also have been a reference to Karrion Kross, who has formerly been known as the White Rabbit. Wyatt was released from WWE in May 2021 but a return has been speculated in recent weeks. It certainly looked cool. Check out what the arena looked like: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This very well co..

Summerslam 2022 Results

Summerslam 2022 Date: July 30, 2022 Location: Nissan Stadium, Nashville, Tennessee Commentators: Michael Cole, Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton It’s time for one of the biggest shows of the year and that means we are in another stadium. The show is going to be interesting for a few reasons, including the fact that it is the first Summerslam ever not under Vince McMahon’s watch. That means we might be seeing something new this time around so let’s get to it. The opening video features a country song about Nashville and how it’s a crazy town. The rest of the video looks at the major matches, with Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar not getting that much of a focus above the rest. Raw Women’s Title: Bianca Belair vs. Becky Lynch Lynch is challenging. They go to the mat to start with Belair running her over, only to have Lynch snap the arm to take over. Back up and Belair backflips away, setting up a release Glam Slam. A standing moonsault gives Belair two but Belair’s arm is banged up..
