On the card. We are less than a month away from WrestleMania 39 and that means the card is rapidly getting set. The show will again be held over two nights and there are even more matches that need to be set up. Sometimes you will see a bunch of matches being set up at the same time, which was the case this week, as multiple matches were set up on the same night. There were three new WrestleMania 39 matches set up this week on Monday Night Raw. First up, Logan Paul and Seth Rollins had a showdown, where Paul said that he would face Rollins on a bigger stage. WrestleMania host the Miz agreed to get the match made and it was set later in the show. Second, Austin Theory interrupted John Cena and challenged him to a US Title match at WrestleMania. After insulting Theory, Cena accepted the challenge. This match has been teased since Cena and Theory met backstage last June. It will be Cena’s first singles match since Summerslam 2021. The match also included Liv Morgan, Natalya, Raquel Rodriguez and Nikki Cross. Belair and Asuka have had two televised singles matches in the past, with Belair winning one and the other going to a no contest. That’s a different way to go. Late last year, Bray Wyatt returned to WWE television after a year and a half absence. Since then, he has developed a still somewhat confusing relationship with a masked man named Uncle Howdy and defeated LA Knight in a match at the Royal Rumble. That still feels like a warmup for Wyatt, and now we might have an idea of where he is going next. Ouch. There are all kinds of injuries in wrestling and you never know when you are going to see someone put on the shelf. These things can come out of nowhere and leave someone out of the ring, which can shake up a lot of plans. That does not leave much room for wrestlers to not be around, though it can made a bit easier if the roster is deep enough coming into the show. It seems to be the case this year, as one prominent WWE star is no longer expected to appear at the event. Run it back? WWE has been undergoing a lot of changes in the last few months and those changes seem to be continuing for the time being. This includes some things that might have been prominent in NXT but are only starting to make their main roster debuts. Now another idea might be getting to showcase itself on the main roster for the first time in a long while (or ever, depending on how you look at it). Triple H is said to believe that the two would be a great addition to the tag team division before having them become singles wrestlers. Ciampa is currently out of action following hip surgery in October. There is no word on when he is expected to return. One of the best ways is to do something during a match or a show that is not seen very often, as it can give fans a moment that they will remember. A WWE star seems to have done that with quite the impressive move, even if it was on a lower level show. Call it an honor? AEW launched nearly four years ago with its first event in May 2019. The company promised to offer several new ideas and concepts, with one being a more sports based presentation. This included keeping track of wins and losses, which can pile up in a hurry. Now one AEW wrestler has reached a milestone that is noteworthy, but maybe not in the most positive way. The loss gave Serpentico his 100th defeat in AEW, making him the first wrestler to reach that total number of losses in the company. It’s time for Survivor Series and for the first time in years, there is a feeling of interest about the show. Instead of the completely dead in the water Raw vs. Smackdown Battle For Brand Supremacy, WWE has thrown their old ideas out the window and brought in a pair of WarGames matches. That alone should be enough to carry the show and….well there are only three more matches so WarGames is kind of carrying things. Let’s get to it. AJ Styles vs. Finn Balor I would have bet on this being the elimination match but instead we’ll just have Judgment Day and the OC at ringside to make things more crowded. Then again, I think I can go with the idea of Balor vs. Styles on a major show and likely getting a lot of time. That being said, Styles hasn’t won a singles match on pay per view in something like three years, so there might not be so much drama. He’s still got it? Retirement is a weird thing in wrestling as you never know when you are going to be seeing a wrestler for the last time. It isn’t like they can come back for another season or have to wrestle a minimum of several matches before they can hang up their boots. Wrestlers can come back for a one off match whenever they like and that is what a former champion is going to do. Former WWE star and current producer Jamie Noble has announced that he will be returning to the ring during WWE’s upcoming live tour. Noble will be wrestling against an opponent to be named on December 11 at the Charleston Civic Center in Charleston, West Virginia, Noble’s home state. Noble, 45 years old, has not wrestled since June 8, 2015 and has not had a singles match since January 13, 2013. It was noted that this may be his last ever match for WWE and there is nothing to suggest this is a full time return to the ring. The card continues to grow. We are less than three weeks away from AEW Full Gear, which will be one of the few times that AEW goes on pay per view during the year. As a result, the company tends to stack up its pay per view cards, which seems to be the case again. Now the card has gotten even bigger, as a new title match has been added to the show with a bit of a personal touch. This week on AEW Dynamite, an Interim Women’s Title match was announced for Full Gear, with Toni Storm defending against Jamie Hayter. A vignette aired showing the personal history between the two, revealing that they even lived together in England during the Coronavirus pandemic. This will be the second singles match between the two, with Storm having previously defeated Hayter in the first round of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. Call it a flashback? There are several aspects that come together to make a wrestler into a star. While a good many of them come together when someone is in the ring or on the microphone, there are some aspects that you can see just by looking at a wrestler. The “look” is one of the most important qualities a wrestler can have and now one of the bigger stars in WWE has changed their look. This week on Monday Night Raw, Seth Rollins defeated Austin Theory in a singles match. Rollins wrestled the match while sporting a different appearance than usual, as he had dyed part of his hair blond rather than the usual all black look. The changed look is more similar to Rollins’ original look when he was part of the Shield. There is no word on why Rollins made the change or if this is a permanent switch. It’s pretty notable. An international guest star. WWE is the most well known wrestling company in the world and their stars are some of the biggest names in the history of wrestling. However, there are several other promotions out there with quite the history of their own with quite the series of legendary stars. Now a WWE star is going to get to go do something special with a legend from outside the company. Pro Wrestling Noah has announced that WWE’s Shinsuke Nakamura will be facing the Great Muta on January 1 in Tokyo, Japan. The match will be part of Muta’s retirement tour, which culminates later in the month. Nakamura has commented on the match on Twitter, calling it a “miracle”. The two have wrestled two singles matches before, with Muta winning both, including defeating Nakamura for the IWGP Heavyweight Title in 2008. I’d say he has earned it. With so many people on the WWE roster, it can be difficult for anyone to stand out. It can take a lot of effort and work for a wrestler to become a next level star, but ultimately it takes a higher up being willing to give someone a chance. A wrestler getting noticed is a big deal and now another one has begun to turn some important heads. According to Fightful Select, Angelo Dawkins has been receiving positive reviews for his recent in-ring work. Dawkins has been praised for improving his physique, style and match quality. Dawkins has also been wrestling more singles matches as of late, as he has competed in more singles matches since June than he did from WrestleMania 37 until May 2022. It is expected that his singles matches will continue. Opinion: For a very long time now, the story has been that Dawkins’ partner Montez Ford is expected to be the breakout star from the Street Profits.
