She’s Rowdy: Ronda Rousey Injured In Pre-SmackDown Brawl, Possible WrestleMania Implications

Ouch? With less than a month to go before WrestleMania 39, almost anything that happens on a WWE show is going to have some kind of ramifications on the upcoming big nights. Most of the stories have already been started but there is plenty of time for more things to happen on the way there. Another of those things might have happened this week and that could tie into a bigger story. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: What’s Next? Goldberg’s WWE Contract Is A Bit Strange At The Moment This week on SmackDown, a video showed Ronda Rousey being attacked earlier in the day by Tegan Nox and Natalya. As a result, Rousey’s arm was in a sling as she accompanied partner Shayna Baszler for her match against Nox later in the night. There is nothing to indicate that this is anything more than a storyline. This comes as the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has said there will be many more “twists and turns” before the Women’s Tag Team Title match at WrestleMania. While the match has yet to be announced, Baszler ..

Mercedes Mone Wins First Championship In NJPW

Call her a champion. Mercedes Mone, known as Sasha Banks in WWE, has won her first championship as a member of the NJPW roster. She defeated Kairi for the IWGP Women’s Championship at NJPW’s Battle in the Valley show in San Jose, California. From Bleacher Report: NJPW sold out tickets to Battle in the Valley after Kairi vs. Mercedes Moné was announced and it showed as the crowd erupted as it began. It was the loudest the audience in attendance got all night. Mone entered the arena wearing new gear as a tribute to the late Hana Kimura. You could see how much she reveres Japanese wrestling, and how much this moment means to her. The former WWE star hasn’t wrestled since May 13, 2022, but she hasn’t missed a beat. The Blueprint dominated early on with the crowd behind her, but Kairi came roaring back. It looked like the champion could retain when she locked in the Ikari, but Mone fought out and cinched in her trademark crossface. Then, Kairi hit her staggering spinning back fist to f..

VIDEO: Sami Zayn Tries To Be Roman Reigns In Huge Main Event

The sincerest form of flattery. There are several stories taking place in WWE at the moment, but almost all of them pale in comparison to the Bloodline. The biggest story in the company, the Bloodline saga has seen people come and go, with everything revolving around Roman Reigns. This includes Sami Zayn, who showed what kind of a fan he was over the weekend. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Thinking Behind It: Here Is WWE’s Reasoning Behind Taking Money In The Bank To London On Saturday night, WWE ran a live even in Jackson, Mississippi, featuring a main event of the Bloodline facing Braun Strowman/the Brawling Brutes. This is something Zayn has done occasionally since joining the team. This is something that Reigns has earned. Check out Zayn’s imitation and the two on better terms: [This post contains video,..

WRESTLING RUMORS: More Evidence WWE Is Teasing A Hurt Business Reunion

The important piece. There have been a lot of stables throughout WWE’s history but most of them follow a fairly standard formula. Most WWE stables are focused around one major star, with other smaller stars supporting them. Without the right balance, the stable is rarely going to work, meaning it has to be put together correctly. It seems a possibly returning stable is working to get the right centerpiece. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: International Incident: WWE Star Loses Title At Major International Event Earlier this week on Monday Night Raw, a backstage segment showed MVP talking to former Hurt Business members Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander. According to Wrestlingnews.co, MVP recently asked Adam Pearce (also in the segment with Benjamin and Alexander) about fellow Hurt Business member Bobby Lashley. There is no word on when or if the Hurt Business could reform. That could make for a heck of a team. Check out the Hurt Business in action: [This post contains video, click to pla..

Double Trouble: Roman Reigns And Drew McIntyre Suffer Same Injury In Same Match

Two at once? Injuries are one of the worst things that you can see in wrestling and sometimes they can show up out of nowhere. Occasionally you can see them take place and know right when it happened, but there are also instances where you only find out after the fact. Now two top WWE stars are both on the shelf for the time being with identical injuries that showed up in different ways. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The New Generation: Former WWE Superstar Reveals Scrapped Plans For New League Of Nations According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, both Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns suffered ruptured eardrums at Survivor Series. As a result, both are out of action for the time being, though both situations are described as “short-term”. McIntyre was medically disqualified from his scheduled Tag Team Title match with Sheamus against the Usos this week on SmackDown. Reigns on the other hand has not missed any scheduled matches due to his injury, which came due to a slap from Kevin Owens...

John Laurinaitis Threatened To Fire A WWE Trainer Over Wearing Sweatpants

It’s a corporate thing. WWE is a rather large company and the biggest wrestling promotion in the world. They have their headquarters at Titan Towers in Stamford, Connecticut, which is run like any othe corporate office would be. This can make for some slightly strange issues though and now a former WWE star is explaining how serious things got for him at one point. During an appearance on Story Time With Dutch Mantell, former WWE coach Tom Prichard told a story about wearing workout gear to WWE headquarters. Prichard said that he felt it was appropriate since he was an in-ring coach. However, former WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis said that he needed Prichard to dress more professionally. Knowing that Laurinaitis would be out of the office the following Monday, Prichard showed up in his workout clothes again. Laurinaitis even called in to check on what Prichard was wearing and threatened to fire him for not dressing appropriately, resulting in Prichard changing. Opinion..

WWE Hall Of Famer Returns On Monday Night Raw To Manage Current Star

He can do some things. There have been a lot of stars throughout WWE’s history and some of them have become legends of the industry. You know these stars when you see them and it can mean something to see them show up again after a long absence. That was the situation again this week, as a legend showed up in a new role in an effort to build up a younger star. This week on Monday Night Raw, WWE Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield made a surprise appearance, introducing Baron Corbin as the newest member of the Monday Night Raw roster. Corbin was sent to the show in exchange for Rey Mysterio, who jumped to SmackDown last week. This comes after Layfield picked Corbin up in his limo after a loss on SmackDown back in August. Corbin would go on to defeat Dolph Ziggler with Layfield on commentary. Opinion: This is the kind of move that works out well for everyone, as Layfield is someone the fans are going to recognize who can add credibility to Corbin. At the same time, Corbin has been so ..

He would be a big get. There are a lot of changes throughout WWE in recent months and several of those have involved wrestlers returning to the company. All kinds of stars are returning to WWE and it has made for several surprise appearances. It can mean a lot to have someone come back, and now WWE is attempting to bring back someone who showed a lot of potential. Jonah, 34 years old, wrestled in NXT from 2019-2021 before being released as part of massive budget cuts. He is a former NXT North American Champion and has wrestled for New Japan and Impact Wrestling since leaving WWE. Opinion: I could certainly go for something like this as Jonah is someone who felt like he could have become one of the t..

Former WWE World Champion Confirmed For In-Ring Return

Get back in there! It can be difficult to keep track of everyone doing everything in WWE, and that was before all of the returning stars showed up. Those returns have made the WWE roster even bigger and that is going to make things all the more complicated. Now WWE is ready to bring a former World Champion and recently returned star back into the ring. This week on SmackDown, WWE announced that former Universal Champion Braun Strowman will be returning to the ring for his first match since coming back to the company. Strowman is scheduled to face Otis this week on SmackDown, marking his first match for WWE since May 2021. Strowman returned to the company earlier this month and has focused on the Alpha Academy more than anyone else. Opinion: This had to happen at some point and it is nice to get Strowman back in the ring. Like him or not, there is no denying that Strowman was one of the bigger stars in WWE and it is nice to have him back in the mix. Strowman is someone who can be adde..

WATCH: Former WWE Johnny Gargano Star Makes Surprise Cameo On Impact Wrestling

There’s a surprise. The wrestling world often sees stars moving from one promotion to the other at a rapid pace. While a good deal of these moves do not mean much, you will occasionally see a move that feels like it is a big deal due to the star power involved. That might have been the case this week, as a surprise named showed up somewhere he probably wasn’t expected. Former NXT Champion Johnny Gargano made a surprise appearance on this week’s Impact Wrestling. Gargano was one of several wrestlers who appeared in a series of videos praising Alex Shelley, who is challenging Josh Alexander for the World Title next month at Emergence. This was Gargano’s first appearance on a wrestling television show since leaving NXT in December 2021, though there is nothing to suggest that it is is anything more than a one off appearance. It was nice to see him. Check out the cameo: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: That’s very cool and it’s nice to see someone pop up like this. Wh..

WWE Star Reveals She Is Currently Wearing A Heart Monitor

That sounds a bit more serious. There are all kinds of medical issues in wrestling and some of them can be quite bad. You see wrestlers get hurt all the time in one way or another, but there are often other issues that take place beneath the surface that you might not know about unless someone brings it up. That is the case again, and this time it is something rather important. Rhea Ripley has revealed that she is currently wearing a heart monitor. In a post on Twitter, Ripley showed herself wearing the monster and said “I’m Iron Man”. There is no word on why Ripley is wearing the monitor or how long she will need it. Ripley has been out of action since June, having to drop out of her Raw Women’s Title match against Bianca Belair. Ripley did not announce when she would return to the ring. I’m Iron Man. pic.twitter.com/XXjN8LPZw4 — RheaRipley_WWE (@RheaRipley_WWE) July 9, 2022 Opinion: That’s a rather serious situation and hopefully Ripley is able to get cleared up as soon as possib..

WATCH: Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins From Money in the Bank 2016

Believe In The Shield. WWE has released a new video on YouTube, in which they show the full match between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins from the 2016 Money in the Bank pay-per-view. Dean Ambrose, who won the “Money in the Bank” briefcase earlier in the evening, would strike while the iron was hot, and cash in his contract to become the new champion. You can see the match in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: The Architect fought like a man looking to reclaim both his title and his pride, facing Reigns for the first time without The Authority or J&J Security ready to intervene on his behalf. Some early ring rust aside, Rollins quickly showed he still possessed the skills that took him to the top. But going toe-to-toe with “The Guy” proved to be a poor strategy when Reigns used his strength advantage to overpower his foe with clotheslines, headbutts and a tilt-a-whirl slam to the reeling Rollins. The Architect remained defiant, if not compet..

Triple Threat: Three New Stars Make AEW Debuts At Double Or Nothing

Some new names. AEW has had a lot of success during its existence and quite a bit of that has been due to their roster. The company has been able to keep things fresh by bringing in a variety of different wrestlers, many of whom you might have seen before. That was the case this weekend, as AEW brought in three new names, all ow whom you are probably familiar with in some way. There were three new debuts Sunday night at Double Or Nothing. First up, Stokely Hathaway, formerly known as Malcolm Bivens in NXT, debuted in the Jade Cargill vs. Anna Jay match, with Hathaway seemingly siding with Cargill. After the match was over, Athena, better known as Ember Moon in WWE, debuted and confronted Cargill. Later in the show, a segment showed Andrade El Idolo in an office. El Idolo introduced his new business associate, former Ring Of Honor World Champion Rush, who seemed to be part of the Andrade Family Office. Opinion: These debuts are the kind of things that you need to see happen every now ..

MJF No Shows AEW Meet And Greet, Double Or Nothing Status Up In The Air

That could be a mess. In just over three years, AEW has become one of the biggest wrestling promotions in the world. The company has all kinds of strengths but one of the biggest is its roster. Using a mixture of rookies, upcoming stars and veterans, AEW has turned into one of the hottest wrestling promotions in a good many years. Now though, there might be a problem with one of its top stars. According to PWInsider.com, Maxwell Jacob Friedman no showed a meet and greet at AEW’s Double Or Nothing fan fest in Las Vegas. In addition, Sean Ross Sapp is reporting that a flight for Friedman has been booked out of Las Vegas. Friedman is scheduled to face Wardlow in a match at Double Or Nothing. This comes as Friedman and AEW have reportedly butted heads over money and his contract status. There is no guarantee that Friedman will most the show as the two sides could still work out a deal. I can confirm a flight out of Las Vegas tonight has been booked for MJF. Full story is on https://t.co..

No, Michelle McCool Did Not Murder Undertaker With A Sledgehammer

That’s a serious jump. There are certain things that wrestlers do that you do not see elsewhere. Some wrestlers have rather over the top characters and that can make for some interesting situations. Things that happen on a wrestling show do not make all that much sense, especially to someone who is outside the wrestling bubble. That almost got someone in some legal issues. Michelle McCool, the wife of the Undertaker, appeared on the Wives of Wrestling podcast and told a story about the police questioning her for about possibly murdering Undertaker. McCool was followed to her home by police and was asked if her husband was home. Undertaker came out of the shower in a towel and showed the officers that he was fine and the issue was over. The officers then let the two of them listen to the call, which had a fan saying that McCool had killed Undertaker with a sledgehammer. Opinion: There are some very interesting fans out there and some of them either have a good bit of time on their han..

WWE Tag Team Title Unification Match Set

When 4 become 2. On tonight’s episode of SmackDown, the much anticipated Tag Team Championship unification match between RK-Bro and The Usos was finally set. The match will be taking place on next week’s edition of Smackdown. You can see the match being accepted below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: The Winner Take All Tag Team Title Unification Match between RK-Bro and The Usos is back on and set for Friday Night SmackDown on May 20. Originally slated for WrestleMania Backlash, the budding rivalry between Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre converted the clash into a Six-Man Tag Team showdown. The Bloodline got the best of the newly-formed trio, but Riddle, Randy Orgon & McIntyre showed they could push the blue brand champions to the absolute limit. So will The Bloodline be leaving SmackDown next week with all the gold, or can RK-Bro make those dreams go up in smoke? Editor’s Opinion: We reported earlier today that it was a rumor that the unification of th..

Backstage News On Why WWE Released An NXT Star

There’s your explanation. WWE has a rather unique setup with NXT as its in-house developmental system. The company is able to bring in as many wrestlers as they choose, see what they have in them, and then move them up to the main roster. Some of them do not make it though, and that seems to be the case again with a wrestler who was released from the company. Last week, WWE released a group of ten people, including several wrestlers, from NXT. One of the longer standing names on the list was Dakota Kai. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Kai was released as WWE did not feel she was ready for the main roster and let her go as a result. Kai wrestled multiple main roster tryout matches but WWE decided to release her rather than call her up. Opinion: I’m not sure what to think of this, as Kai is someone who showed all kinds of talent in NXT but that doesn’t matter if the higher ups don’t see it. To say that WWE has a hit and miss record with its NXT callups would be an understatement..

The show ended with Lethal and Sonjay Dutt attacking Gresham until Joe showed up. He choked Dutt out while Lethal watched. [h/t to Bleacher Report] Joe has not been seen in professional wrestling since late 2021 when he was forced to vacate the NXT championship after being sidelined with an inj..

WWE Amazing Argument In Monopoly Lawsuit (This Is Kind Of Nuts)

They don’t own the whole thing. WWE is the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world. This has been the case for a long time now and no one has given WWE any kind of a serious threat for years. However, that does not mean WWE is the only wrestling promotion around, and now they have had to admit that in front of a judge as part of a lawsuit. Earlier this year, Major League Wrestling, alleging that WWE is a monopoly on the wrestling industry. WWE has since filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit and, according to Dave Meltzer, presented a copy of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, which showed that AEW defeated WWE head to head in a thirty minute period. As a result, the company showed that they were not a monopoly on the wrestling business. There is no word on if the lawsuit will be thrown out or when a decision will be made. In the WWE's response to the MLW lawsuit, besides the written response they provided an exhibit. The exhibit was the October 18, 2021 issue ..
