You can’t fit everything in. This week’s edition of Monday Night Raw was the Raw XXX special. The show celebrated thirty years of Monday Night Raw, which saw a stacked show. The card featured a pair of title matches, along with a huge grudge match several weeks in the making. However, one of those things did not happen as something else took up too much time. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Return: Brock Lesnar Returns, Interferes In Main Event On Monday Night Raw A scheduled cage match between Bayley and Becky Lynch did not take place on Raw XXX. While the two came to the cage, the rest of Damage Ctrl attacked Lynch and left her laying with the match never starting. According to Fightful Select and later PWInsider.com, the match was cut due to the Trial Of Sami Zayn segment running long. Other unnamed segments were reportedly cut down as well. The champ is back! According to a report from Variety, John Cena will be making his return to WWE on the final Smackdown of 2022. He will be appearing on the December 30 show, which will take place at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. From the report: This will mark Cena’s second appearance in WWE in 2022, as he previously returned to the sports entertainment giant in June during an episode of “Monday Night Raw” to celebrate his 20 year anniversary with the company. He did not wrestle a match during that appearance, but rather spoke in the ring about his time with WWE while also appearing in backstage segments. Earlier this week, it was reported by F4WOnline.com that Kevin Owens tweaked his knee during a WWE live event in Madison, Wisconsin over the weekend. The belief was that the injury was an MCL sprain,. However, Dave Meltzer has confirmed that Kevin Owens will be part of the Survivor Series WarGames match. CageSideSeats reported this morning that Owens is rehabbing his knee at the WWE Performance Center and was consulted by WWE doctors on Monday. The report also details that the former WWE Universal Champion is still traveling with WWE and his status for tonight’s SmackDown and other shows is unknown. That is the kind of thing that you see take place on any given show, but at the same time, it does not mean that you are seeing something take place as it seems. Now we know a bit more about how a major promotion makes this work. Fightful Select has some details on AEW’s backstage production setup. AEW reportedly films several of their backstage segments in advance rather than live in an effort to reduce travel costs. If a wrestler is only going to be at an event for a short backstage segment, it will be filmed in advance rather than bringing someone in for a full day. For example, Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland’s backstage segment in Cincinnati was filmed in Toronto the previous week to avoid bringing in Lee and Strickland for a brief moment of filming. Having a relative who knows their way around the industry can open up several doors, and now a member of one of the most famous wrestling families has made her debut. One of the segments announced in advance for this week’s NXT was the unveiling of Schism’s newest member. Over the last few weeks, a person in a red hoodie has been with the team but with their face remaining hidden. This week, the person revealed themselves as Ava Raine, the daughter of the Rock. The night isn’t over. With so many talented stars on the WWE roster, it can be difficult to figure out how to get a lot of people on television. Even with five hours of main roster television time to fill every week, there are still wrestlers who are not on the show. While it might not be the same, there is still the chance to wrestle after the cameras go off and six wrestlers got to do that this week. Following this week’s edition of SmackDown, the team of Shinsuke Nakamura and the Street Profits defeated Imperium in a post-show dark match. Nakamura pinned Ludvig Kaiser after Kinshasa to win the match. All six appeared on the SmackDown broadcast, but none of them wrestled. Nakamura and the Street Profits appeared in multiple backstage segments while Imperium interfered in the main event. It was a big match. Hold tight because the show is not over. WWE presents a lot of television on any given week and it can be difficult to keep track of everything that they do. It doesn’t help that they company has so many wrestlers that sometimes they do not have enough time to get everyone on the shows. First up, Ronda Rousey came to the ring and addressed the crowd, only to be interrupted by Natalya. A fight broke out and Rousey cleared Natalya from the ring. Another one on the list. There are all kinds of wrestling matches but some of them can be very dangerous. While there is always the chance that someone is going to get hurt in a regular match, there are ways to up the danger by adding some kind of stipulation. Unfortunately it seems that another star was injured in one of the more violent matches of the year. In a new YouTube video from JOFO In The Ring, AEW’s Matt Menard revealed that he suffered a shoulder injury during the Blood & Guts match on the June 29 Dynamite. Menard said that he has torn parts of his shoulder, labrum and rotator cuff, but he will be able to rehab the injuries and avoid surgery. The injury took place during a spot with Santana during the match. There is no word on how long Menard will be out of action, though he has been appearing on AEW TV in non-wrestling segments. There could be a problem. AEW has been around for over three years now and the company’s tag team division continues to be one of its greatest strengths. The company has all kinds of great tag teams and the division has grown even stronger over time. That is the kind of thing that few promotions are able to do, but now one of the teams might not have much longer together. According to the Fightful review of AEW’s Blood & Guts, there has been some kind of a falling out between AEW’s Santa and Ortiz. The team has only wrestled two regular tag team matches in AEW this year, with their most recent taking place in March. They also no longer stand next to each other during segments and Santana has been taking solo independent bookings. There is no word on if the team will split or what caused any possible issue in the first place. They changed their minds. There are a lot of issues with WWE at the moment and one of them is their inability to present the matches and segments that they advertise. WWE has a bad tendency to change their minds on something they plan to present and it can create issues. That was the case again this week, despite a last minute advertisement of the match. Last week on Monday Night Raw, Kevin Owens issued a challenge to either Ezekiel, Elias or their brother Elrod. Ezekiel accepted the challenge on behalf of his family and it was officially announced for this week’s show. On top of that, at 6am on Monday morning, WWE announced that the match would be a Money in the Bank qualifying match. Last week, Max Dupri, formerly known as LA Knight, made his SmackDown debut and mentioned that he was in charge of a male modeling agency. This was a slight change from what Knight had been doing in SmackDown dark matches where Knight had introduced his various clients.
