Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Best in the World 2018 Date: June 29, 2018 Location: UMBC Event Center, Cantonsville, Maryland Commentators: Colt Cabana, Ian Riccaboni It’s pay per view time and even though I’ve already seen the next TV show, none of that matters as we have a few weeks to spare because of Ring of Honor’s wacky TV schedule. The main event here is a triple threat between World Champion Dalton Castle, Cody and Marty Scurll but the real highlight should be the Young Bucks challenging the Briscoes for the Tag Team Titles..

VIDEO: Controversial Wrestler Returning To The Ring After SpeakingOut Allegations

That will get people talking. There are all kinds of people in the wrestling world and some of them do not have the best reputation. Sometimes you will see a wrestler get blackballed from the industry and that could be the case for a variety of reasons. Unfortunately some of these are a lot more serious than others, though one such wrestler will be making his return to the ring soon. Puerto Rico promotion CWA has released a video announcing that Marty Scurll will be making his debut with the company at Halloween Fan Fest on October 23 in San Juan. There is no word on what Scurll will be doing on the show. Scurll has not wrestled since February 2020 after facing allegations of a sexual encounter in the United Kingdom with an intoxicated 16 year old (the age of consent in the country) in 2015. While Scurll insisted the act was consensual, the girl described it as an assault of a child. As a result, Scurll was let go from Ring of Honor and has not been seen in wrestling since. This isn’..

Ring Of Honor Undergoes Big Shakeup Over SpeakingOut Movement

The changes continue. Earlier this year, the SpeakingOut Movement shook a lot of different parts of the wrestling world with no company being immune to the accusations coming from all over the place. Several wrestlers have been punished in one way or another with some of them being in bigger trouble than others. One of the more prominent names involved is in trouble as well, and now we know what that includes. One of the bigger stories from late 2019 into early 2020 was the status of Marty Scurll. As one of the bigger names outside of a major wrestling promotion, the question became where Scurll would wind up when his Ring of Honor contract expired. Scurll would up deciding to stay with Ring of Honor, though with the added bonus of being the promotion’s booker. Since then, Scurll has been named in the SpeakingOut Movement and things have been changed as a result. Ring of Honor Date: March 25, 2020 Location: Nashville Municipal Auditorium, Nashville, Tennessee Commentators: Caprice Coleman, Ian Riccaboni Host: Quinn McKay From what I can tell, this seems to be the final weekly show that will feature new material. This is the start of a new event but for some reason it looks like the last episode they were able to produce. Fair enough as you never know how screwy things could have gotten thanks to everything going nuts. Things have been a bit better under the Scurll regime so hopefully they can go into hiatus on a high note. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. We open with a quick video on 2 Guys 1 Tag. Quinn runs down the show. Dan Maff/Jeff Cobb vs. Briscoes Mark and Jeff lock up to start with Mark’s headlock trying to cut off the power. A dropkick sends Mark into the corner so it’s off to Maff. Ring of Honor Date: March 11, 2020 Location: UMBC Events Center, Baltimore, Maryland Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Caprice Coleman Host: Quinn McKay We’re still in Baltimore and that means we should be getting close to the main event sooner or later. The show was built around the NWA invasion, meaning NWA World Champion Nick Aldis should be around. That could make for something interesting and that’s what this company is needing. Let’s get to it. We look at the NWA invasion as we move towards Aldis vs. Marty Scurll for the World Title. This ties into Rush vs. PCO for the World Title. Opening sequence. Rey Horus vs. Brody King Horus starts fast with the strikes but can’t get very far. Instead, King goes with the power to shove him down. They go outside and we take a rather early break. Ring of Honor Date: March 13, 2019 Location: RP Funding Center, Lakeland, Florida Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Colt Cabana I’m not sure what to expect from this show anymore and that’s a very cool thing to say. The stories have gotten awesome as of late and that makes me want to keep watching. This is the unofficial go home show for the Anniversary Show this Friday, where a lot of things will be set up for the MSG show. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of Jay Lethal destroying Matt Taven’s fake World Title last week. Opening sequence. Kingdom vs. Villain Enterprises TK O’Ryan/Vinny Marseglia vs. Marty Scurll/PCO here with no one in either corner. The Kingdom jumps them before the bell but a screaming PCO clotheslines them both. Rumor: John Morrison’s Next Wrestling Venture Could Be Huge

WrestlingInc, by way of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that former WWE Superstar and current Impact and Lucha Underground star John Morrison could be NJPW bound. New Japan Pro Wrestling first opened its doors back in 1972, but it has only been within the past few years that it has seen a strong international presence. With gaijin (foreign wrestlers) becoming more common in the promotion, NJPW is certainly growing in ways many people felt it never truly would. At the moment, Superstars such as Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, The Young Bucks, Cody, Will Ospreay, Marty Scurll, Michael Elgin, Zack Sabre. Jr, Jay White, Juice Robinson, Bad Luck Fale, Killer Elite Squad, Beretta and others all compete for the promotion.
