That’s some high praise. The introduction of AEW into the wrestling world has changed quite a few things, as now a new batch of wrestlers with their own style has been brought into the landscape. That can cause a lot of changes for fans as they might not have seen most of the new names before. One such group of wrestlers has caught the eye of a legend, who has quite the take on them. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Hulk Hogan Endorses Surprise Names For WWE Hall Of Fame During an appearance on the Cafe de Rene podcast, AEW’s Jake Roberts said that he believes the Elite (Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks) are better than the Bloodline’s Roman Reigns and the Usos. Roberts described Omega as “f****** unbelievable” and said that while he doesn’t like some of the stuff the Young Bucks do, “they’re doing it and getting away with it”. Those are some talented stars. That’s a big step. Wrestlers are part of a very physical sport that can cause all kinds of health problems over the course of their careers. At the same time, there are other factors that can make things even worse for them through a variety of ways. That can be on display for all of them but there are time when things do turn around a bit. We might be seeing that again with a wrestling legend. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: The Bloodline In Action After SmackDown This week’s AEW Rampage featured a surprise return from Lance Archer, with his manager Jake Roberts, as the two made their first appearance since November. While speaking with the New York Post, Roberts revealed that he had been on oxygen for the last year and a half due to lung issues. Now though, Roberts is now only receiving oxygen at night through his CPAP machine. He is also exercising five or six days a week and riding his exercise bike for 45 minutes a day. Roberts called being cleared by AEW a pat on the back. Rober..
Welcome back. With so many wrestlers on the AEW roster, it can be easy for one or more of them to get lost in the shuffle. You never know when someone is going to drop off of the radar and not appear again for a little while. That can make for some annoying absences, but it can also make for some very nice returns. Two of the latter took place this week on the same show. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It Fits: Important Details On Next WWE Event In Saudi Arabia, Possible AEW Competition Jake Roberts and Lance Archer made their returns to AEW television this week on Rampage. Archer, with Roberts in his corner, returned and defeated Bryce Saturn. This was Archer’s first match in AEW since the November 18 edition of Rampage and his first match anywhere since December 23. There is no word on why he was out of action or what is next for him in AEW. Archer is a monster. They’re up next. We are in the middle of a weird era in wrestling, as fans have been wanting to see more about the history of the industry. This has led to a series of books, films and television series about wrestling. There are all kinds of stories to be seen in the wrestling world and WWE has gotten in on the idea as well. Now we are getting to see what they have in store next. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: Major Title Change Planned Before WrestleMania 39 Over the last two years, WWE has worked with A&E to produce episodes of A&E’s Biography series on various WWE and wrestling legends. According to PWInsider.com, new episodes will begin airing on Sunday February 19, with looks at Dusty Rhodes, Jake Roberts and the NWO, plus more to be announced. Jake “The Snake” Roberts was recently interviewed by Bleacher Report where he discussed a number of topics. Among them were almost dying due to drugs and alcohol, becoming sober and who helped him along the way, joining AEW, and more. Below are some questions, along with “The Snake”‘s answers: Bleacher Report: Thanks to The Resurrection of Jake the Snake and the Vice episode, you aired significant issues which aren’t easy for anyone to discuss. How have your relationships with your family changed after addressing those pitfalls of the past? Jake Roberts: “It’s gotten better. My oldest daughter and I are now golden. I have another daughter who’s golden. I have twin boys who are golden. But I do have four other children, who are…still holding their ground. I understand it. I’m not trying to shove anything down their throats. “I’m guilty of everything I did and didn’t do. It’s more things that I didn’t do, because I was never around them when I was messed up or drunk or anything like..
That could have been worse. There are all kinds of issues that a wrestler can deal with while they are in the ring, some of which are a lot more serious than others. Those issues do not go away after their careers are over though and sometimes the issues get even worse. That was the case for a certain wrestling legend, but now things have taken a turn for the better. AEW’s Jake Roberts has announced that he is no longer requiring oxygen and will be back in AEW again. This comes after Roberts has been missing from AEW television for several months due to reported health issues, including reports that he had been receiving oxygen through a tube. Roberts has mainly served as Lance Archer’s manager during his time with the company. It is not clear when Roberts will be returning to AEW TV. Off oxygen for good!! Standing tall doing great. At AEW AGAIN!! Sweet life I’m living!! — JakeSnakeDDT (@JakeSnakeDDT) November 16, 2022 Roberts has been around AEW for a good while. Check out some of..
Can’t they all just get along? There have been all kinds of stars throughout the history of WWE, with only a small handful reaching the top of the company. It means a lot to see one of those stars becoming all time legends, meaning they are remembered long after they hang up their boots. At the same time though, not all legends get along and that is the case again, with one having something to say about the other. WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair took to Twitter this week to bash fell Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield for his history of bullying accusations. Flair said that WWE’s anti-bullying campaign must not apply to Layfield, with Flair naming Joey Styles and “Jason” Roberts (presumably Justin Roberts, who accused Layfield of bullying) as former victims. Layfield currently appears on Monday Night Raw as Baron Corbin’s manager. I Guess The Anti Bullying Program You So Heavily Endorsed Does Not Apply To Bradshaw!! Jason Roberts And Joey Styles!! What A Joke! And He’s In The HOF! Sad!..
Put him down as not a fan. There are certain promos and interviews which resonate with fans for one reason or another. It might be the delivery, it might be the context and it might be what is being said, but sometimes it can be everything coming together. That was the case with a promo last week, but it seems that one wrestling legend was certainly not impressed. Last week on AEW Dynamite, Maxwell Jacob Friedman cut a promo bashing AEW President Tony Khan and the company as a whole. The promo followed Friedman no showing a scheduled meet and greet over Double Or Nothing weekend. During the latest edition of his Snake Pit podcast, Jake Roberts said that the promo “made me sick” and said the bomb that it dropped in the locker room will have repercussions. Opinion: I’m curious to see where this goes, but I am a bit more interested in the fact that Roberts, who works for AEW, is so curious to see how the locker room responds. Roberts is someone who has been around for a long time and kn..
That’s an improvement. There are very few things sadder in wrestling, or anything really, for hearing about someone dealing with serious health issues. It happens with a lot of people, but sometimes you get a break and find out that things are not as bad as they seem. That might be the case again, as a wrestling legend is refuting reports about his health status. Earlier this week, Jim Ross mentioned that AEW’s Jake Roberts was dealing with serious health issues involving his breathing, which was keeping him off of AEW television. However, Roberts has responded to the story on Twitter, saying that it is untrue and he will be around for a long time. Ross has not responded to Roberts’ statement. Roberts has been serving as Lance Archer’s manager in AEW. Hey guys once again someone wants to make a splash on the internet and what better way is there than putting out Jake Roberts is in bad health. Totally untrue. I’m going to be around a long time. — JakeSnakeDDT (@JakeSnakeDDT) May 12, ..
That doesn’t sound good. There are certain wrestlers throughout the history of the sport who have become such legends that fans follow what happen to them once they have left the ring. Unfortunately that is not always the best news as sometimes you hear about someone who is not doing so well and that seems to be the case again, as a legend is not in great shape. During a recent edition of his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross revealed that WWE Hall of Famer Jake Roberts has been dealing with serious health issues. Without specifying, Ross mentioned that Roberts was having issues breathing but is trying to deal with it. This includes some upcoming surgeries. The health issues are the reason why Roberts has not been appearing on AEW television as frequently in recent weeks. Opinion: This is one of those things that might not be the biggest surprise, as Roberts has had a long history of health issues over the years. It does explain why he has not been around as of late, as Roberts has only ..
Please don’t be serious. There are certain wrestlers who become legendary in the sport for one reason or another. You might see a wrestler become a legend because of how they look or talk, but some of them become such stars because of what they can do in the ring. It is special to see someone that talented wrestle a match, but now one of the best ever seems to be having some problems. During the latest edition of his DDT Snake Pit Podcast, Jake Roberts revealed that Ricky Steamboat was going through health issues. Roberts did not go into detail on what was wrong with Steamboat or how serious the issues were, nor has Steamboat commented on the situation. Roberts did mention that he hopes it is not due to the DDT that he gave Steamboat on the concrete floor during a match between the two in 1986. Steamboat retired from active wrestling in 1994 but has wrestled the occasional match since. Opinion: I’m not sure what is going on with Steamboat and I hope that it isn’t anything too serious..
That’s great to hear. While we watch wrestlers do some amazing things every single week, there is a lot more that goes on in their lives that we do not see. Some of these things are rather serious, as they have everyday problems just like anyone else. Occasionally that includes serious health issues, which was the case with a certain wrestling legend. The good thing is that the key there is “was”. During the latest episode of the DDT Snake Pit podcast, AEW’s Jake Roberts gave an update on his health. Roberts revealed that despite having COPD, two unspecified lung diseases and emphysema, he no longer has to use an oxygen tank, save for when he is on an airplane. Roberts has recently returned to AEW television where he has continued managing Lance Archer. Opinion: That is absolutely great to hear, as Roberts has had a long history of health issues over the years. It is nice to have something positive for a change, as Roberts still seems able to offer quite a bit to the wrestling world...
They’re good at that. Wrestlers have a difficult task, as they are asked to make fans believe what they are doing is real while also having a fully cooperative match. This is in addition to building up a character, which is often best done through promos and segments. Sometimes a wrestler makes it work very well, which is the case with some modern stars. However, some of them broke character for a rather nice reason recently. Jarrius Robertson, a WWE fan with a chronic live disease who has undergone two liver transplants, was in attendance at this week’s SmackDown. Various wrestlers acknowledged him throughout the night, including Roman Reigns, Big E. and Jimmy Uso, the latter of whom gave Robertson his shirt. Robertson is a longtime WWE fan and received the Warrior Award at the 2018 WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony. This was pretty awesome. Check out some of the WWE roster interacting with Robertson: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to ..
Dynamite Date: February 9, 2022 Location: Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City, New Jersey Commentators: Jim Ross, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone This is another big night and that is because Tony Khan has promised a huge debut in a qualifying match for the Face of the Revolution ladder match. As a result, there has been a lot of excited speculation and that has made the show feel that much more important. Other than that, we are probably seeing some more from the potential Jon Moxley/Bryan Danielson pairing. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Here is Wardlow with some cardboard cutouts of MJF sitting on CM Punk’s chest and MJF putting Punk in the sleeper. Wardlow looks annoyed as he hands Justin Roberts some cards with introductions for FTR with Tully Blanchard and Shawn Spears, who has his own introduction for MJF. As you might expect, it is as over the top as you can get, including talking about how he beat punk TWICE in the garbage heap that is Chicago in the mid-mid-mid-midwest. MJF comes..
That doesn’t sound good. The Coronavirus pandemic has shaken up the entire world and it seems that things are starting to get worse again. That is going to make things all the more complicated as we move forward, as you never know how bad things could get for someone. It seems that is the case with a certain wrestling legend, who has not had the best health in the first place. AEW’s Jake Roberts has announced that he has tested positive for the Coronavirus. Roberts says he believes he got it either from his family or when he was out shopping. This comes after Roberts has been missing from AEW television for three months, which he credits to AEW President Tony Khan allowing him to stay away due to being high risk. Roberts did not mention any symptoms from the virus. Yes after not going to do my AEW work for nearly 3 months. Tony Kahn knows I’m high risk and has gone above and beyond all expectations trying to keep everyone safe. Pretty sure I got it from family or when I was out shopp..
It’s kind of famous. There are certain moments in wrestling that are just different from the rest, as you know that you are seeing something that is going to cause some changes. These might not always be for the best, but you know them when you see them. That was the case with a certain moment about eleven years ago, and now we are seeing it recreated in a lighter mood. Back on June 7, 2010, the group that would become known as the Nexus made its WWE debut, attacking John Cena and CM Punk. A near riot broke out, which included Bryan Danielson choking ring announcer Justin Roberts with his necktie. This was seen as a step too far, and Bryan was released from the company, eventually returning in August. Following this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite, Danielson and Roberts got in the ring and recreated the scene, with Danielson threatening to choke Roberts again if he ever called Danielson Daniel Bryan again. This was quite the moment. Check out the original brawl, the recreation, and so..
That could be worse. There are all kinds of reasons that someone might be out of action from wrestling. It can be even scarier when someone has a history of bad health issues. Some of them are going to be more serious than others, but it can be quite the relief to hear that things are not as serious as they could have been. Now we might have some better news about a certain legend. Earlier this week, reports surfaced that Jake Roberts was undergoing health issues that had him in a wheelchair and using an oxygen tube. According to Bodyslam.net, Roberts is in a wheelchair due to undergoing foot surgery, including having pins inserted into his toes. This is the reason he has been away from AEW television. Roberts has been managing Lance Archer. Roberts has had a big time in AEW. Check out some of his moments there: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is quite the relief as ther..
That doesn’t sound good. There are all kinds of wrestlers in the world and some of them are in different stages of their careers. While you can find several in the ring at any given point, there are some who have long since retired from active competition. There is still a place for them in the industry, but one of the legends is now having some serious issues of his own. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Jake Roberts has been missing from AEW television due to health issues. While it is not clear exactly what is wrong, Roberts recently made an appearance at the Connecticut Horrorfest, where he was in a wheelchair and was using an oxygen tube. There is no word on when or if Roberts will return to AEW, where he has been managing Lance Archer. Roberts has had a very nice run in AEW. Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? The Big Event Date: August 28, 1986 Location: Exhibition Stadium, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Attendance: 70,000 Commentators: Gorilla Monsoon, Johnny Valiant, Ernie Ladd Yes that’s the correct attendance. As in exactly. Not rounded off a bit. Like I said, this is one heck of a huge crowd and they’re all standing outside to watch Hulk Hogan vs. Paul Orndorff in a major grudge match for the title. The only other match worth anything on the show is a Snake Pit match (meaning anything goes) between Jake Roberts and Ricky S..
