One More: Sami Zayn Getting Another Title Shot Against Roman Reigns

Run it back. Every so often, you will run across a match that is built almost solely on emotion. That can make for some very special moments and it is even better when you get to see the match take place. Now we are going to get to see the rematch. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He’s In Charge: Former WWE Champion Set To Host WrestleMania 39 The main event of WWE Elimination Chamber saw Sami Zayn challenging Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title in Zayn’s hometown of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. While Zayn lost, it took some interference for Reigns to retain and the match was close throughout. Now WWE is running the match again, this time at a live event on March 4 at the Coca Cola Coliseum in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It Grows: Two Big Matches Added To AEW Revolution

They needed to do that. We are less than two weeks away from AEW Revolution and that is going to be a big night. AEW only runs four regular pay per view events in any given year so they have to make the most they can out of every show. The company knows how to stack their cards with a bunch of big matches and they moved closer to doing that this week, with more matches being added. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He Did It: Jon Moxley Is First To Reach Major AEW Milestone Two more matches were added to the Revolution card during this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite. First, Ricky Starks issued an open contract for a match at Revolution and talked Chris Jericho into facing him in a rematch. Jericho also agreed that the Jericho Appreciation Society will be banned from ringside. Second, AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter agreed to defend her title in a three way match against Saraya and Ruby Soho, both of whom have wanted title shots. There is no word on how many more matches will be added to the s..

NXT Results – February 7, 2023

NXT Date: February 7, 2023 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Booker T. We’re done with Vengeance Day and just shy of two months away from Stand & Deliver. It looks like we have a title match set up, as Carmelo Hayes stared down Bron Breakker, who retained the NXT Title in the main event. That should give us a clear path to Los Angeles so let’s get to it. We open with the recap of Vengeance Day. Here are Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes to open things up. Williams talks about how Hayes turned seer Apollo Crews into Stevie Wonder before Hayes brags about his win too. Hayes knows his destiny and there is one man waiting for him. Cue JD McDonagh to cut him off and say Hayes is entitled. While Hayes wants a private room at the club, McDonagh sends people to the emergency room. The match is made for later. REVIEW: Main Event #1: 33 Years For 33 Million

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? The Main Event #1 Date: February 5, 1988 Location: Market Square Arena, Indianapolis, Indiana Commentators: Vince McMahon, Jesse Ventura Hulk Hogan vs. Andre The Giant II. I’m not sure what else there is to say here because that’s all that could possibly matter with this show. This is the long awaited rematch from WrestleMania 3, which featured a bit of a controversial moment where Hogan may not have gotten his shoulder up in time. There is some other stuff around here but do you really think it matters? Let’s get to..

AEW Dynamite Results – February 1, 2023

Dynamite Date: February 1, 2023 Location: Nutter Center, Dayton, Ohio Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz We are about a month away from Revolution and that means it is time to start hammering down the card. You can probably guess a good bit of it from here and that is a strong sign for the show. This week will feature a pair of title matches, including Jade Cargill’s latest conquest and Samoa Joe getting his rematch for the TNT Title. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Jon Moxley vs. Hangman Page Moxley comes through the crowd with Wheeler Yuta and….his own father. Moxley starts the fight in the crowd and takes it into the audience as we are waiting on the opening bell. Page gets in a whip into a barricade and they keep brawling back to ringside. Moxley wraps the chair around Page’s leg but Page throws said chair at Moxley to take over. They finally get in the ring and slug it out, with Moxley’s eye busted open. Moxley is fine enough to grab an armbar but Page is back up ..

WATCH: Title Change Takes Place On AEW Dynamite

He got it back. Titles are one of the most important things in the wrestling world. A championship is the way that fans figure out who the top stars in the company are supposed to be. In addition, they are often the focal point of major storylines as wrestlers try to win any championships they can. A title change can mean something and now that has taken place again. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: LOOK: Popular AEW Star Backstage At WWE Royal Rumble The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite saw Samoa Joe defeat Darby Allin in an anything goes match to become the new TNT Champion. The win makes Joe a two time champion and ends Allin’s reign at 28 days, the second shortest in the title’s history. Allin had defeated Joe to win the title on January 4 and had defended the title four times over the course of his reign. It was made clear that there would be no rematches. It was a busy night. Check out the title change, plus some of Allin’s title reign: [This post contains video, click to play] ..

WATCH: Huge Title Change Takes Place On AEW Dynamite

Hand it over. Titles are the most important part of any wrestling promotion and give the fans a good baseline of what they are seeing. A wrestler holding a championship means that they are one of the most important people in the company. As a result, a title change can be a big deal and that is what we saw this week, as a former champion got the gold back around his waist. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Sasha Banks Makes New Japan Debut, First Match Set The main event of this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite saw Darby Allin regain the TNT Title from Samoa Joe in Allin’s hometown of Seattle, Washington. The match was a rematch from December when Joe retained the title and hurt Allin in the process. Sting, Allin’s mentor, came to the ring to celebrate with him to end the show. Allin previously held the title for a record 186 days, with a reign lasting from November 2020 – May 2021. It was pretty awesome. Check out Allin’s win, plus his time as champion: [This post contains video, click ..

AEW Dynamite Results – January 4, 2023

Dynamite Date: January 4, 2023 Location: Climate Pledge Arena, Seattle, Washington Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Excalibur, Taz We’re in a new year and the big story is a new look for the show. That is somewhat long overdue and the question is will AEW have a good show to back it up. The likely main event is Samoa Joe defending the TNT Title against hometown boy Darby Allin in a rematch from a few weeks back. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence, with remixed themed song. There is a new set with new graphics. Chris Jericho vs. Ricky Starks Feeling out process to start with Starks slapping him in the face and pounding away in the corner. Starks does a rather length Old School but gets knocked to the apron. The triangle dropkick is broken up though and Jericho suplexes him off the apron as we take a break. Back with Starks hitting a running clothesline to leave both of them down. Starks grabs a sitout powerbomb for two, blocks the Codebreaker and hits a superkick for two. Jericho is ri..

HOW MUCH? Jim Ross Reveals Amazing Detail About Infamously Awful Match

That’s a lot. There have been so many matches throughout the history of WWE that standing out is a difficult task. While there are several matches that are great enough to stand above the rest, there are some matches that are much more infamous than famous. Now we know a rather important detail about a match that took place nearly nineteen years ago. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: LOOK: 61 Year Old WWE Hall Of Famer Undergoes Major Surgery Back at WrestleMania 20, Goldberg faced Brock Lesnar in a special showdown match. Both men were leaving the company though, resulting in fans taunting both of them throughout. The two also spent several minutes of the match not making contact or using only basic moves. Jim Ross discussed the match during a recent episode of his Grilling JR podcast, revealing that both of them were paid $250,000 for the match, which ran about 13 minutes. Goldberg and Lesnar would both return to WWE in later years, with Lesnar defeating Goldberg in a rematch at WrestleMania ..

REVIEW: NXT TakeOver: R-Evolution: The Future Is Then

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? NXT Takeover: R-Evolution Date: December 11, 2014 Location: Full Sail University, Winter Park, Florida Attendance: 400 Commentators: Rich Brennan, Alex Riley, Corey Graves This should be a big one as we have a huge showdown in the main event for the NXT Title with Sami Zayn getting his rematch against champion Adrian Neville after a screwy finish to their last match. Other than that we have the long awaited debut of Kevin Owens and Hideo Itami teaming with Finn Balor to face the Ascension. Let’s get t..

Round Three: Here’s What WWE Reportedly Has Planned For Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley III

It’s a different way to go. Wrestling matches need to be well built up in order to make them feel more special. Any two wrestlers can go to a ring and have a competent match but it takes some extra care to have a memorable one. WWE has a tendency to build things up well and that is what they are trying to do again for an upcoming match, albeit in a different way than before. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Wrestling Fans Erupt Over Controversial Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley Ending At Crown Jewel, Brock Lesnar defeated Bobby Lashley by reversing the Hurt Lock into a rollup for the pin. Following the match, Lashley attacked Lesnar and put him in the Hurt Lock again. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this is likely setting up a rematch between the two, this time with Lashley as the heel. The upcoming match will be the third between the two, after Lashley defeated Lesnar at the Royal Rumble earlier this year. There is no word on when the match will take place. They’ve done this b..

WWE Announces New Title Match For This Week’s Crown Jewel

Put it on the list. We are less than a week away from Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on November 5. The show will be one of the biggest that WWE will present this year and that means WWE will be wanting to boost the card up as much as possible. That is what they will be doing again as they have added another title match, this one a rematch from a recent title change. This week on NXT, it was announced that new Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Asuka will defend their titles against Damage Ctrl’s Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai. Bliss and Asuka defeated Damage Ctrl to win the titles earlier this week on Monday Night Raw, meaning the Crown Jewel title match will be their first defense. This is the fourth title match announced for the show. Opinion: This is a nice match to add to the card and spice it up a bit, as anything involving a title is going to feel important. The titles having just changed hands in the first place earlier in the week means it is going to have a story built in so e..

AEW Releases Name Involved In All Out Backstage Brawl

It had to happen to someone. There have been a lot of stories in wrestling this year but perhaps the most bizarre has been the backstage brawl after AEW All Out. There have been several suspensions as a result of the issue and the question becomes just how bad things are going to get for everyone. While there are still issues to be decided for the top names, we now know the fate of one person involved. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW has officially released Ace Steel from the company, where he had been working backstage. Steel was involved in the backstage brawl and reportedly threw a chair, which hit Nick Jackson in the head. Steel had also appeared on a recent edition of Dynamite, where he inspired CM Punk to face Jon Moxley in a rematch for the AEW World Title. Opinion: I don’t think this is quite the surprise as Steel wasn’t a major name in AEW and hadn’t even been around that long. It makes sense for Steel to be gone from the company and eliminates one factor in the e..

SmackDown Results – October 7, 2022

Smackdown Date: October 7, 2022 Location: DCU Center, Worcester, Massachusetts Commentators: Michael Cole, Wade Barrett It’s the season premiere of a show that has seasons in the loosest sense of the world. This week features a showdown between Roman Reigns and Logan Paul, plus a rematch from Clash At The Castle with Gunther defending the Intercontinental Title against Sheamus. One of these things should be awesome so let’s get to it. HHH is in the ring to get things going to say that there will be a time when you think everything is over but it is just the beginning. Welcome to Smackdown, where there is another QR code on the microphone cube. Wade Barrett is introduced as the new member of the commentary teams. With HHH gone, here is the Bloodline for a chat. Roman Reigns hits the catchphrase but gets cut off by Logan Paul, who stays on the apron. Reigns invites him in and the fans DO NOT like Paul. Reigns: “Don’t worry, they did that to me years ago too.” Paul Heyman is told to s..

REVIEW: Extreme Rules 2016: Extreme Rematches

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Extreme Rules 2016 Date: May 22, 2016 Location: Prudential Center, Newark, New Jersey Commentators: Byron Saxton, John Bradshaw Layfield, Michael Cole It’s a night of rematches but in this case we have a few bonus stipulations to carry things forward. The main event is another match between WWE World Champion Roman Reigns and AJ Styles, in this case under Extreme Rules. The question here is who interferes and helps either guy pull off the win. Let’s get to it. On the pre-show, here are the Dudley Boyz with someth..

Dynamite Results – September 21, 2022 (Grand Slam)

Dynamite Date: September 21, 2022 Location: Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York City, New York Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Excalibur, Taz It’s probably the biggest Dynamite of the year as we are in a stadium for Grand Slam. As expected, the show is going to be a huge one with a World Title match between Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley for the vacant championship. Other than that, Swerve In Our Glory is defending the Tag Team Titles against the Acclaimed in an All Out rematch. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Ring Of Honor World Title: Chris Jericho vs. Claudio Castagnoli Castagnoli is defending and starts fast by gorilla pressing Jericho onto the top rope. A big boot knocks Jericho outside and Castagnoli follows him, only to have Jericho hide behind former Ring Of Honor owner Cary Silkin. That’s enough for Jericho to get in some cheap shots to stagger Castagnoli but he’s right back with the uppercuts back inside. They fight to the apron and fight over a suplex before forearming it out ..

Rare Stipulation Set For WWE Extreme Rules Grudge Match

That’s a big match. There are a lot of ways to present a feud in wrestling. It might be over a championship or something personal but there is often a lot of violence involved. This can often include some kind of a special gimmick or stipulation to take the feud to another level. It has worked for years and now it is happening again with a stipulation we do not see very often. Matt Riddle and Seth Rollins have been feuding for the last several weeks, with Rollins defeating him at Clash At The Castle when Riddle got too aggressive. The two have since cost each other matches and had to be held apart this week on Monday Night Raw. Rollins shouted that Riddle could pick the next match so Riddle said in the Fight Pit at Extreme Rules. The Fight Pit has only been used in NXT and features a cage around the ring with platforms on top. Opinion: They needed to do something big for the rematch and I like this more than some street fight or tables match or whatever. Sometimes you need to mix it ..

KB’s Review: Who Else Do They Have

As you might have heard, Summerslam is this coming Saturday and that means it is time for….well a bunch of stuff we have seen before. If there was a theme to this year’s show, it would be Summerslam: Rematch Edition, and that isn’t the most exciting way to go. There isn’t much on the card that has me inspired to see where things go, and that is rather disappointing. At the same time though, it is rather unsurprising and that is what we are going to look at this week. Summerslam has eight matches on the card and the majority of the card is comprised of rematches. The show has two rematches from Money In The Bank (Usos vs. Street Profits, Bobby Lashley vs. Theory, and Ronda Rousey vs. Liv Morgan, though the latter has an asterisk due to the cash in), one from this week’s Monday Night Raw (Mysterios vs. Judgment Day) and two from WrestleMania 38 (Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns and Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair). That’s at least half (or more) of the card is made up of matches that we hav..

Summerslam 2022 Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

It’s one of the biggest shows of the year and that means it is time for a bunch of rematches, because that’s what Summerslam has become this year. Now that being said, we very well may be in for one of the biggest changes in WWE in a VERY long time as this will be the first major show under the new regime. That means we could be in for some surprises and I’m much more interested in what we are getting now that things have changed. Let’s get to it. United States Title: Bobby Lashley(c) vs. Theory It’s a Money In The Bank rematch and the match has barely gotten any attention because Theory has Mr. Money In The Bank stuff to focus on instead. That hasn’t left much time for these two to do much, but at the same time, what kind of a story is there to tell with them? Theory seems destined to move up to the top level and Lashley is just one of the biggest stars on Monday Night Raw. It could be an interesting match, but that isn’t what WWE is doing here instead. There is no reason to have ei..
