NBCUniversal Developing A New Scripted Wrestling Series

That could be interesting. Professional wrestling is about telling stories and there have been some very interesting ones told over the years. This has made for some fascinating television as you can see how all of the characters come together to make something work. Now we might be seeing a twist on it though, as we could be seeing a show about the business itself. According to Deadline, NBCUniversal is developing a series called Pinned, which will be set in a fictional wrestling promotion. The series will have FOX Sports’ Tom Rinaldi and Vince McMahon as executive producers and is described as: “…an “adrenalized” upstairs-downstairs soap that gives a behind-the-scenes look at a fictional wrestling promotion and the “unforgettable” characters that populate it. Pinned offers a front-row seat into the eccentric wrestling culture and the mayhem that exists between the locker room and the boardroom.” There is no word on when or where the series will air, as NBCUniversal has not tied it..

Several Important Names In Attendance At Last Week’s WWE SmackDown

Location, location, location. WWE SmackDown has been on the air for well over twenty two years now and the show has built up one heck of a reputation for itself. Above all else, the show has spent the last two plus years on the FOX network, which is as big of a wrestling television deal as it gets. People in the entertainment industry are paying a bit more attention to it as of late, and that was on display last week. According to Deadline.com, several entertainment executives and stars were in attendance for last week’s SmackDown in Los Angeles, California. Here is a list of the executives and television/film personalities who were at the show last week: • Kelly Kahl (President of CBS Entertainment) • Matt Cherniss (Head of Development and Programming at Apple) • Noah Harpster (Actor and Producer) • Barry Poznick, (President of MGM Studios) • Larry Jones (Executive Vice President of Fox Sports) • Vanessa Hudgens (Actor) • Jemele Hill (Sports Journalist) • Reggie Bush (Analyst for Fox..

WWE Announces Special Celebrity Appearance For Summer Jam

It’s a good idea. Celebrities have been a part of wrestling for years now and that is going to be the case for a very long time to come. It makes sense to bring in outside names and see what they can do when they are put into the world of wrestling. Sometimes you can get something great out of this, while others are not quite the success. This time around, WWE is trying something new with a name who has been around before. WWE has announced, courtesy of 411mania.com, that WWE Hall of Famer and rap legend Snoop Dogg will be hosting an in-game event for the WWE Champions mobile game. The event will see a 1990s version of Dogg being added to the in-game roster. In addition, a new version of Sasha Banks, Dogg’s cousin, will be available, along with a special block party themed arena. There will also be a sweepstakes for a change to win Dogg merchandise. Dogg has been involved in wrestling several times over the years, including making multiple appearances for WWE. He rapped Banks to the ..

VIDEO: Mickie James Teased For Return

She’s been there before. Earlier this year, several wrestlers were released from their WWE deals, which shook up a lot of things in the wrestling industry. The major impact was on WWE, but at the same time, there was suddenly a huge wave of talent available for all of the other promotions. Some wrestlers have already signed elsewhere, and now we might know where another name is heading. This week on Impact Wrestling, Kiera Hogan was thrown into a dumpster. As she was climbing out, she found a black trash bag with the word “Mickie” written on the side. This would seem to be a reference to Mickie James, who had mentioned WWE sending her belongings back to her in a trash bag. There is no word on James possibly returning to Impact Wrestling, though several former WWE stars have been teased for Slammiversary on July 17. James has wrestled for Impact Wrestling multiple times, including from 2002-2003, from 2010-2013 and again in 2015. During her time with the company, she won the Knockouts..

WATCH: CM Punk Talks Putting Robin Williams In An Airplane Spin

It’s one of a kind. Wrestling occupies a weird place in the celebrity world as you do not see wrestlers break into the mainstream very often. At the same time though, you do see some celebrities who know their way around wrestling, as several of them have been a fan at some point in their lives. Now there is a new story of how a pretty famous actor had a run in with a top name wrestler and things got interesting. CM Punk was a guest on the Wrestling Perspective Podcast and told a story about staying at Lars Frederiksen’s (one of the show’s co-hosts) house when actor Robin Williams was there as well. Williams found out that Punk was sleeping upstairs and decided to splash him in bed. Punk woke up and chased Williams down, eventually tackling him and putting him in an airplane spin in the street. Punk did not realize it was Williams until he started chasing after him. That’s one of the most out there stories you’ll ever hear. Check out Punk’s appearance with some other cool stories: [..

REVIEW: Summerslam 2000: The Forgotten Great One

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Summerslam 2000 Date: August 27, 2000 Location: Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena, Raleigh, North Carolina Attendance: 18,124 Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler This is another show that I barely remember at all. A lot has changed since last time and it’s dramatically changed the card. To begin with, Austin is out with neck surgery and Rock has ascended to the top of the company. He’ll be defending the title tonight against HHH and upstart star Kurt Angle, a real Olympic gold medalist. On top of that, four guy..

WATCH: Shawn Michaels vs. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin From Wrestlemania XIV (14)

The Austin Era has begun. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full match between Shawn Michaels and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin from WrestleMania 14. It was here that The Rattlesnake earned his first WWE Championship. You can see the match in its entirety below: From our own Thomas Hall: They circle each other to start and there’s a double bird for HBK. Shawn pops him with a left hand and does it again a few seconds later. The champion runs away but gets caught back inside as Austin pounds away and pulls Shawn’s tights down to give the girls a thrill. A backdrop puts Shawn on the floor but HHH gets in a shot to Austin’s back. He sends Austin into the barricade which gets both him and Chyna ejected. Austin beats up HHH in the aisle but it lets Michaels get in a shot to take over. Shawn sends Austin into the dumpster shoulder first and we head back to the ring. The challenger comes back with right hands and there’s a Flair Flip which must feel like..

Tye Dillinger Officially Asks For His WWE Release. Has It Been Granted?

Can you count to ten? Over the last few weeks there have been very few stories more interesting than a huge group of WWE wrestlers trying to get a release from WWE. While none of them have been successful yet and there have been some questions about how accurate some of the requests have been, we now have one that is straight from the horse’s mouth. Or wrestler’s fingers in this case. In a new post on his Instagram, Tye Dillinger says that he has requested his release from WWE. While he doesn’t say one way or another, the way he words the statement makes it sound like the request was granted. Dillinger has been on the main roster for just shy of two years and has had rather limited success, with his high point being a few shots at the United States Title. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ronnie Arneill (@wwedillinger) on Feb 19, 2019 at 9:00pm PST This was as great of a debut as you could have had. Who’s Your #1? WWE Releases Weekly Power Rankings

Power to the wrestlers. At some point, every wrestling fan has had some kind of a debate about which wrestler is better. This is as old as the wrestling business itself and will be around forever. Sometimes you get something interesting out of these arguments but it’s rare to have the wrestling companies actually give their own stance outside of the title picture. It happens every now and then though and WWE has done it again. On its Instagram page, WWE has released its latest weekly Power Rankings. The company releases these every now and then, normally with their bigger versions coming out after the Big Four pay per views. The rankings include both superstars from Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live with both male and female wrestlers along with a tag team. These are dated through this week’s SmackDown Live. WWE Looks At The Top Five Survivor Series Teams

The old days of awesome. Later this month, WWE will present its annual Survivor Series event. This show is the second longest running in the history of WWE and that means there are quite a lot of teams from the show’s namesake match. The matches have changed somewhat over the years but the basic core idea remained the same. But since this is wrestling, you have to argue over which was best. On its Instagram page, WWE has released a graphic showing the Top Five Survivor Series teams of all time. The list ranges from near the beginning of the series to modern times, with a wide mixture of teams. Some of them contain five members, which was the case in the original run of shows and became common again in modern times, as well as four man teams, which became the norm for most of the 1990s.
