WATCH: Rey Mysterio Wrestles On Late Late Show

It’s a Hall Of Fame thing. Wrestling has a history of working with celebrities and it has been a mixed bag over the years. There are several celebrities who are there for the sake of promoting their latest project and nothing more, while there are occasionally celebrities there for their love of wrestling (among other things). The latter was the case this week and a WWE legend got involved as a result. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Tag Team Splits On NXT In Mid-Match Betrayal Bad Bunny, who has worked with WWE multiple times in the past and is set to host this year’s Backlash, was a guest on the Late Late Show this week. During the interview, wrestling was brought up, resulting in Bunny bringing out Rey Mysterio. Host James Corden then faced Mysterio in a match, where he was quickly defeated. Mysterio is set to be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame later this month. Kind of one sided. Check out the match (the wrestling portion begins at around 11:00), plus Bunny and Mysterio in WWE:..

Not Now: Update On Bray Wyatt’s Planned Horror Film

Slight snag. Wrestlers have tried their hands at acting for years now and the connection makes sense. Wrestling is designed around the idea of making fans believe that what they are seeing is real, which has led to wrestlers appearing in the occasional acting project. A prominent WWE wrestler is now trying his hand at it as well, but now things might be slowed down for the time being. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: In The Back: WWE Appears To Spoil Celebrity Appearance At WrestleMania 39 Bray Wyatt returned to WWE last September following a year plus hiatus from the company. During his time away from WWE, Wyatt had started planning for his first film. Jason Baker, a make-up artist and director, as well as Wyatt’s collaborator, was interviewed by Metro, where he talked about the film. The unnamed film will be a horror movie and is described as “Ichi The Killer Meets Xanadu”. However, the film is now on hold as Wyatt is back in WWE, meaning he does not have the time to work on the project. The..

Not everyone can stick around forever though, and now it seems that one of the names that has been around for a long time is taking her leave. That’s a lot. One of the most up and down stories of this year has been that of Sasha Banks. After walking out on WWE in May, Banks has still yet to return and as of last week, was reportedly “done” with the company. Instead she will be heading to New Japan Pro Wrestling beginning in January, and now we know some more interesting details about the entire situation. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Major Update To Bobby Lashley’s Monday Night Raw Status According to Voices Of Wrestling, Banks will be appearing for New Japan on a per appearance basis, “at the highest price” that the company has ever paid anyone. This includes even more than Chris Jericho, who according to Wrestling Observer Radio, was making $100,000 per appearance, starting in 2018. Banks is set for multiple dates with New Japan, but she will be able to work on other projects, including AEW if she likes. There is no word on Banks working in any American promotions at the moment. Uh, Yay? AEW Star Officially Reaches Dubious Benchmark

Call it an honor? AEW launched nearly four years ago with its first event in May 2019. The company promised to offer several new ideas and concepts, with one being a more sports based presentation. This included keeping track of wins and losses, which can pile up in a hurry. Now one AEW wrestler has reached a milestone that is noteworthy, but maybe not in the most positive way. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: AEW’s Thunder Rosa Records First Song This week on AEW Dark: Elevation, Lee Moriarty defeated Serpentico in a singles match. The loss gave Serpentico his 100th defeat in AEW, making him the first wrestler to reach that total number of losses in the company. Serpentico made his AEW debut in March 2020 and has wrestled both singles matches as well as teaming with Luther as the Chaos Project. Following his loss, Serpentico commented on the milestone: hold up y’all were counting this ENTIRE time? — MR. PENTICO ?? (@KingSerpentico) December 6, 2022 Serpentico has been around for a ..

LOOK: WWE Star Reveals New Look While Interrupting Big Match

It worked before. There are several different aspects that go into making a wrestler work out in the right way. In addition to everything that takes place on the microphone and in the ring, a wrestler’s appearance needs to make them stand out in some way. Occasionally a change needs to be made and now a longstanding WWE star has done just that with a bit of a flashback. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Boss Triple H Sees Monday Night Raw Star As “Reclamation Project” This week on Monday Night Raw, Akira Tozawa appeared in his old tights and with blond hair, rather than the martial arts attire and black hair he had been sporting for years. Tozawa interrupted the Baron Corbin vs. Drew McIntyre match by distracting Corbin’s manager John Bradshaw Layfield, costing Corbin the match. This comes a week after Tozawa posted a photo of his old gear with a caption saying “thank you”, though it is not confirmed that he was talking about the upcoming change. Old look: IMG Credit: WW..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Boss Triple H Sees Monday Night Raw Star As “Reclamation Project”

He’s worth the effort. It takes talent to make it to the WWE and everyone there has earned their way to the company. There are different ways to make it and some take more time than others, but it means something to be on the roster. Occasionally a wrestler will lose some of their prestige and have to be built back up in one way or another, and that seems to be happening with a former World Champion. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Double Threat: New United States Title Grudge Match Set For WWE Survivor Series According to WrestleVotes by way of GiveMeSports, Triple H sees Finn Balor almost as a “reclamation project”. After seeing what has happened to Balor in recent years, Triple H is reportedly looking to build Balor back up. Sweeten The Pot: Contract Details On Returning WWE Superstars

Sign them up. There are several wrestling promotions in the world but there are only a handful that are able to run full time. Those promotions are able to keep wrestlers around on a more secure basis and they often include full time contracts. Signing one of those deals can change a wrestler’s career and now we know some more about a few recent signees to the biggest promotion in the world. Several WWE stars have returned to the company in recent months, including three of the four members of Hit Row. According to Fightful Select, the three (Top Dolla, Ashante Thee Adonis and B Fab) all signed three year deals, which will expire at the same time in 2025. Matt Cardona On Possible WWE Return: “Always Ready For Any Opportunity”

He’d take a call. There have been a lot of returns to WWE over the last few months and a lot of that has been credited to the new regime in charge of the company. As a result of Vince McMahon losing power in the company, some wrestlers who have left the company have been willing to consider a return. Now another company might be interested should the right offer come up. During a new interview with Metro, Matt Cardona, formerly known as Zack Ryder during his time in WWE, said that while he does not want to return to WWE, he would be willing to take a phone call. Cardona said that right now, he is focused on having the most fun and making the most money possible. However, he does want to wrestle in Madison Square Garden again and have another WrestleMania moment. In addition, Cardona issued a statement to Wrestling Inc., saying that he was busy with other projects but was “Alwayz Ready” for any opportunity. There is no word on WWE being interested in a Cardona return. Opinion: I don’t..

Edge Lands New Acting Role In Upcoming Disney Project

He has a knack for that. Wrestler have a weird relationship with acting, as you would think that they are capable of fitting into the acting world with ease, though it doesn’t exactly work that way. Only a handful of actors have done well in acting and it can be quite the second career for anyone who can make it work. Now another wrestling legend has landed quite the acting role. According to Variety, WWE Hall of Famer and current Monday Night Raw star Edge has landed a recurring role on the Disney+ Percy Jackson series. Edge will play Ares, the god of war, who will “act as an agent of chaos wherever he goes”. Edge has had a second career in acting following his original retirement from the ring, appearing on shows such as Vikings, Haven and The Flash. Opinion: That’s a big role for Edge to pick up and it is another step in his second career. Edge seems to have found something he has a knack for in acting and if he can keep going with it, good for him. Working on a Disney+ show is a ..

AEW Has Two Surprising Names Producing Matches And Coaching

a Now we know some of the newer people who are helping put those matches together. According to Fightful Select, both Luther and Serpentico have been working as backstage producers for AEW in recent weeks. Luther produced an unspecified match on this week’s Grand Slam edition of Rampage. It is not clear how long or which matches Serpentico has been producing. The two of them have teamed together as the Chaos Project, mainly working on Dark and Dark: Elevation. Opinion: This is a bit of a surprise but it does make sense to have some fresh minds producing some of the company’s matches. It can help a lot to have someone new get in on the job, if nothing else to take pressure off some of the more established producers. Serpentico and Luther might not be the top stars in AEW but they seem to have some skill in this area so maybe there is something to it. What do you think of the move? Who else would make a good AEW coach? Let us know in the comments below. Please share this story on Face..

The New Project: Possible Long Term Plans For NXT Championship

They have a plan for that. NXT has been around for a rather long time now and it continues to occupy one of the most unique places in all of wrestling. While it serves as the official WWE developmental territory and its main purpose is to get wrestlers ready for the main roster, it also serves as its own promotion, meaning things need to happen to keep up the interest. Now we might know what WWE has in mind. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, there has been talk of having Nikkita Lyons win the NXT Women’s Title. However, this is not expected to take place in the near future but rather a long time down the road. Lyons recently returned from an injury and has been talking about the title in recent weeks. Mandy Rose is the reigning NXT Women’s Champion and successfully defended the title against Roxanne Perez this week. Opinion: I can absolutely see why WWE would want to make such a move as Lyons is one of the most unique stars that they have in NXT. That kind of status is something..

Vince McMahon Scandal Already Impacting Outside Projects

The extra fallout. One of the biggest wrestling stories of the week has been allegations against Vince McMahon of an extramarital affair with a WWE employee. The WWE Board Of Directors is investigating the matter but it is not clear what will happen to McMahon in the long run. However, there might be some issues with some upcoming McMahon side projects due next year. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, a pair of McMahon related projects may be undergoing major changes due to the scandal. One would be the McMahon biography due out next spring, as the book is mostly done but will now need to have a new section written. The other issue is the upcoming Netflix biography series, which Nextflix may now not want to air due to the allegations against McMahon. Neither the book’s author or Netflix has commented on their product’s future. Opinion: The McMahon scandal is only just starting and it could be a long time before we know where everything is going to fall. It certainly shows just ho..

WOO! Ric Flair Is Working With WWE Again For A Special Project

He’s back, kind of. There are all kinds of legends in wrestling and some of them are the biggest names the sport has ever seen. Even then though, there are some names who are even bigger than others, some of which are still around today. One of those names is going to be getting a special look back at his life and career, and it happens to be with a company that he left again not so long ago. WWE has announced that they will be teaming with Fox Sports’ Tom Rinaldi and Ric Flair for a two hour documentary on Flair. The documentary is described as containing never before revealed history about Flair, though it is not clear if it will be focused on his career or life outside of the ring. That Makes Three: Another Wrestling Star Added To Upcoming Film

It’s a group project. Wrestling and acting have a weird relationship, as wrestlers are acting but when it comes to acting, they are only seen as wrestlers. You will occasionally see a wrestler who has success in the acting world but they are often few and far between. Every wrestler turned actor has to start somewhere though and now we might be seeing that be the case again. Film director Michael Matteo Rossi has announced that Impact Wrestling’s Tenille Dashwood has been cast in his upcoming film The Charisma Killers. Dashwood is at least the third wrestler who will appear in the film, along with Jessie McKay and Brian Pillman Jr, whose participation was announced earlier this month. There is no word on if any other wrestlers will be cast or when/where the film will be released. Here is how the film is described: When the old mentor of 7 killers finds out he has terminal cancer, he gives them all an opportunity at his fortune to prove themselves for one night only to exact revenge...

Details On Tessa Blanchard’s Fallout With Women Of Wrestling, Original Plans

That could have gone differently. There are some very talented wrestlers in the world but there is often something that holds them back from reaching their true potential. That could be any of several possible options, and unfortunately they can prevent fans from seeing some very talented stars. It seems that is the case again, now with one of the more talented stars in the world. Earlier this month, Tessa Blanchard and Women Of Wrestling reportedly had a falling out, resulting in Blanchard’s relationship with the company and its owner, David McClane weakening. According to Fightful Select, Blanchard is no longer figured in to the company’s plans, including their initial television tapings, which were held last week. Blanchard’s association with the promotion was designed to be a rehabilitation project for her due to major promotions not showing any interest in her. The issues between the two sides began when CBS, Women Of Wrestling’s television partner, canceled a planned tryout mat..

WWE Making Plans For Major Expansions Of Developmental Program

Investing in the future. WWE has more money than they know what to do with and they continue to bring in even more money every single year. They know how to make money like no other wrestling promotion and there is a chance that will continue for a long time to come. The company does have to think about its future though and that is what they are planning on soon. WWE held its first quarter financial conference call this week and according to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com, the company announced plans to expand its Performance Centers. There is no word on how or when these processes will begin. In addition, the idea of adding new Performance Centers internationally is currently on hold, with no idea of when the project could continue. WWE claim they're looking at expanding and improving on their Performance Centers. I've heard recently that the global expansion was still "on hold" in that regard. — Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com (@SeanRossSapp) May 5, 2022 Opinion: This ..

Hollywood Actor Working On Starting His Own Wrestling Promotion

He has the name. The owner of a wrestling promotion might not get the most attention but they are almost as important of a person as you can have in the operation. That person is going to be financing the company and is often the face behind the whole thing. Having an owner that fans recognize can be helpful and now someone who is known by more than a few people might be getting into the wrestling industry. Actor Freddie Prinze Jr. mentioned on Twitter that he is working to finance his own wrestling promotion. Prinze responded to a fan on Twitter who asked about such a promotion, saying that he was returning to work to finance such a project. He did not offer any further details on the promotion. Prinze has a background in wrestling, having worked as part of the WWE Creative team, as well as actively hosting a wrestling podcast. I hope so. Only went back to work to finance the muthafucka.
