Clean Slate: Backstage Meeting Reportedly Held Over AEW Star’s Past Actions

She had to apologize. There are all kinds of wrestlers on any given roster and at some point, there are going to be some issues. Such problems can start small and become much bigger in a hurry, which can happen to any roster. You never know how bad things might get and problems need to be addressed at some point. That has been the case in AEW but now things are getting a bit better. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Triple Threat: Three Superstars Make Surprise Returns On AEW Dynamite According to Fightful Select, the AEW women’s division held a meeting on February 8 where Thunder Rosa attempted to make amends for some of her issues with the rest of the locker room. This included dealing with Rosa’s alleged sandbagging of opponents and working stiff, along with making members of the roster look like bullies. The meeting was described as “productive” with hopes for a clean slate. Rosa has been out of action since September but she is expected to return to the ring soon. She has since joined the ..

Royal Rumble 2023 Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

It’s that time of year again as we are beginning the Road To Wrestlemania. That means we are going to be seeing some of the biggest shows of the year and things are about to get a lot more exciting. WWE has done a nice job setting up the Royal Rumble matches this year as there are a lot of open spots remaining, though the men’s match is more or less a two horse race. Let’s get to it. Bray Wyatt vs. LA Knight Let’s get the goofy out of the way first. This is the Pitch Black match, which is a product placement match from Mountain Dew. WWE still hasn’t exactly explained what it’s going to be, but knowing Wyatt’s involvement, things are going to get more than a little strange. By strange I mean ridiculous, but it’s a new Wyatt so I’m trying to hold on to false hope for as long as I can. Of course Wyatt wins here, as there is zero reason to have Knight beat him in his first match. Save or some Uncle Howdy shenanigans, I can’t imagine there being any reason to think that Wyatt is in any da..

He’s Next: Former WWE Star Believes Goldberg “Has A Thumb On” Him

He said no? There have been all kinds of stars throughout WWE’s history, some of which have become iconic names in the sport. It means a lot for a lower level star to work with them, but at the same time, there are instances of one of the bigger names slowing things down for a smaller name. Now one of the real parody stars is claiming that the real version did just that. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Dominik Mysterio Gets Arrested At Rey Mysterio’s Home In an interview with Cheap Heat Productions, former WWE star Gillberg claimed that people have told him that WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg “has a thumb” on him. As a result, Gillberg cannot have an action figure or a shirt or be included in a video game. Gillberg did make it clear that he was NOT 100% sure this was the case, but the people who had spoken to him believed it to be. Gillberg parodied Goldberg on and off in WWE for years before retiring in 2022. He had his moments. Check out Gillberg’s time in WWE: [This post contains vide..

WATCH: AEW Dynamite Set For Major Change Going Forward

You have to keep things fresh. Television is the focal point of most wrestling promotions as it is the easiest way to get the fans to see what the company is doing. At the same time, the television show itself has to look good and catch the fans’ attention. That means some changes occasionally need to be made and now one of the bigger wrestling shows going today will be doing just that. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Another Run? Former WWE Star Lana Thinks Miro Will Return To WWE This week on AEW Rampage, a vignette aired advertising a new look for AEW Dynamite starting with the January 4 edition. Later that night, Vice President of Post-Production Kevin Sullivan posted about the vignette on Twitter, calling it a “bold, new vision” and the result of nine months of work. Sullivan also credited Tony Khan, saying his “vision is boundless”. There is no word on if Rampage will be changed as well. This is a different way to go. Check out the new look, plus some great moments from Dynamite past: ..

Christmas Gift: Backstage Reason For WWE Running Best Of Monday Night Raw Next Week

How nice of them. We are coming up on the end of the year and that means WWE is doing some things a little differently than usual. In this case, that means running a pair of live events on the Monday after Christmas, with Monday Night Raw being different as well. That changes more than a few things, but it seems that it is for the benefit of a certain group of people. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Postpones Major Upcoming International Event This Monday, WWE announced that the December 26 edition of Monday Night Raw would be a special Best Of show rather than a regular episode. According to Fightful Select, the change was made in part to give some of the production staff time off. While there will be two teams working at live events, there would be more workers needed for a television taping. Next week’s NXT and SmackDown have already been taped in advance. WWE has some success at live events. Check out some of their better ones: [This post contains video, click to p..

It Would Be A Record: WWE Hall Of Famer Wants To Return After 21 Years For Royal Rumble

One more on the list? We are about a month away from the 2023 Royal Rumble and that means it is time to start getting ready for one of the more complicated nights of the year. The Royal Rumble event will be featured around two of the show’s namesake matches, meaning sixty wrestlers will be needed. Some of them will be brought in from outside of WWE and one is willing to throw his hat in the ring. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE’s Plans For Toxic Attraction Before Mandy Rose’s Release During a recent interview with the Cheap Heat Productions podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Bushwhacker Luke was asked about returning to WWE for the 2023 Royal Rumble. Ouch: Wrestling Legend Slams SmackDown Star, Would Fire All But Two WWE Women

That would be extreme. Wrestling today is nothing close to what it was twenty years ago. The industry has completely changed with several aspects being nothing close to what it was before. This includes women’s wrestling, which has gone from little more than a side show to one of the focal points of WWE’s product. However, one wrestling legend has a certain thought process on modern WWE women’s wrestling and it’s rather different. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: She’s Missed: Backstage Reaction To Mandy Rose’s Surprise WWE Release During a recent edition of the Smack Talk podcast, wrestling legend Dutch Mantel criticized Tegan Nox’s return to WWE, saying she was unsure of herself. Mantel did say that the issue could have been attributed to ring rust but was not impressed with Nox’s armdrags. He also said that he would fire everyone in the division, save for Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler, only to hire them back five minutes later, just to show that he could. Nox didn’t seem to impress Mante..

The Next Big Thing: Triple H Reveals Brock Lesnar Is Selling Meat

Eat it before he eats you. Wrestlers can do a lot of things and some of them have nothing to do with what goes on in the ring. Sometimes you hear about them doing something outside of wrestling, possibly using their celebrity status to get the word out a bit easier. That is apparently the case with a top WWE star, even if you have never heard of them before. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Danger Of War: Bloodline Member Possibly Injured During WarGames Triple H recently appeared on Snack Wars, where he mentioned being a fan of beef jerky. As an aside, Triple H mentioned that Brock Lesnar has his own line of beef jerky, which is called “Bearded Butcher Brock Lesnar Beef Bites” which are sold on Bearded Butchers’ online store, though as of this writing, they are out of stock. Lesnar has never mentioned the product on WWE TV. It is not clear when Lesnar will return to WWE. Lesnar can do a lot of things outside of the beef jerky business. WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Planning Major International Show In India

They’re going on a trip. WWE is the biggest and most powerful wrestling company in the world and has been for quite some time. They have an international presence like no other promotion, as the company’s product is broadcast in several countries. In addition, the company occasionally takes its events abroad, which is what they seem to be planning again for next year. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Changes Roman Reigns’ Likely Royal Rumble Challenger According to SportsKeeda, WWE is planning an international event in Hyderabad, India at some point in January, likely on the 18th. It is not currently known if the event will be broadcast on television. While not confirmed, the event may have been set up to be close to Republic Day, an Indian national holiday, on January 26. Last year WWE held the Superstar Spectacle event, which aired in India on Republic Day. WWE has yet to announce anything about the event. They’ve done something right. Check out some of WWE’s efforts w..

Backstage News On AEW’s Trick To Save Money

That sounds like a plan. There are a lot of things that go down throughout a wrestling show, including things that do not take place in front of the audience. That is the kind of thing that you see take place on any given show, but at the same time, it does not mean that you are seeing something take place as it seems. Now we know a bit more about how a major promotion makes this work. Fightful Select has some details on AEW’s backstage production setup. AEW reportedly films several of their backstage segments in advance rather than live in an effort to reduce travel costs. If a wrestler is only going to be at an event for a short backstage segment, it will be filmed in advance rather than bringing someone in for a full day. For example, Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland’s backstage segment in Cincinnati was filmed in Toronto the previous week to avoid bringing in Lee and Strickland for a brief moment of filming. Opinion: This is one of those totally logical concepts and I have no idea..

Antonio Inoki Passes Away At Age 79

We have some sad news to report as WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling legend Antonio Inoki has passed away at age 79. From WWE.com: One of the key figures in the history of Japanese wrestling, Antonio Inoki was among the most respected men in sports entertainment and a bona fide legend in his homeland. Born in Yokohama, Japan in 1943, Inoki grew into a natural in-ring competitor. The incredible squared circle figure found his greatest success in New Japan Pro Wrestling, a promotion he founded in 1972. Over the course of the next two decades, Inoki built NJPW into the most successful wrestling company in Asia. Utilizing talented Japanese competitors like Tatsumi Fujinami and Riki Choshu, innovative high-flyers like Tiger Mask and Dynamite Kid, and American Superstars like Bob Backlund and Vader, the young promoter created a product that was unique, influential, and far ahead of its time. In addition to running the company, Inoki himself was one of the top stars in NJPW, carrying the cha..

Stephanie McMahon Announces Major New WWE Streaming Deal

That’s what matters most. WWE does a lot of things and has their hands in a lot of industries around the entertainment world. At the end of the day though, they are a wrestling company and what matters most is getting as many eyes as possible on the product. That makes one of their latest announcements all the better, as more people will be able to view WWE programming. WWE co-CEO Stephanie McMahon has announced that the company has reached a new streaming deal with the Foxtel Group in Australia, resulting in BINGE being the new streaming partner for WWE in the country. According to a press release, the service will offer a 24/7 streaming channel, all major WWE television shows and other events at no extra cost. Opinion: This is something that seems run of the mill for WWE but it also shows you just how big the company is. Getting a new deal with a company big enough to go all over Australia is a major deal and for WWE it feels like something so normal. It brings in more money to WWE..

Update On WWE Losing Streaming Partner, Content Goes Away This Weekend

It’s one less place. WWE has a lot of content available in any given week and that has always been a strong suit. One of the company’s biggest strengths is that they are able to present their product in a variety of places, meaning it is really hard to avoid. That has helped them quite a bit, but now it seems that they are going to be losing one of their bigger platforms. Last week, reports surfaced that WWE’s content on Hulu was listed as expiring before the end of the month. According to PWInsider.com, the content is scheduled to be pulled on Saturday September 24 or Sunday September 25, marking the end of WWE’s content on Hulu. The deal between the two sides expires before the end of the year and while a new deal could be worked out, the two sides splitting would mark the end of a deal that has been in place since 2012. Opinion: This is one of those things that feels more like consolidating than anything else, as WWE will likely move their Hulu content over to Peacock. That makes ..

Here Is One Longstanding Practice WWE Will Not Be Changing Anytime Soon

He might not be on the list. There have been a lot of changes to WWE in recent months, with some various people being moved in, out of and around company. This includes some of the biggest names the company has every known and some of its mainstays. It has become a question of who will stick around, and now we know that one name, or at least his legacy, will likely be around for the time being. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE’s camera work and production style would not change even if longtime producer left the company immediately. While there is nothing to suggest that Dunn will be leaving anytime soon, there are said to be several people in the production department who like his style of zooming in and out or having the camera shake. There is no word on who would replace Dunn if he left. Opinion: There are a lot of things throughout WWE’s history that make little sense and keeping this style of directing is one of them. I’m not sure why that is seen as a positive as the ..

WATCH: The Rock Producing New Wrestling Documentary Series (TRAILER)

That’s a new twist. Wrestling media has been changing a lot in recent years as more and more stories have been presented in one way or another. This has come in the form of books, films and television series, many of which are telling stories that have not been heard in a long time. Now we are in for another one which certainly sounds like it has some promise. According to Variety, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions will be producing a new wrestling documentary series called Tales From The Territories. The series will be from the same team that made Dark Side Of The Ring and will focus on stories from the territory days of wrestling. There is no word on what any episodes will cover. The series will debut on October 4 at 10PM EST on VICE TV. This has potential. Check out the trailer for the series: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is something that has some serious potential as Dark Side Of The Ring was a great series. I’m cur..

Hit The Gas: More On The Brock Lesnar Tractor Spot At Summerslam

That’s a big tractor. Summerslam has come and gone and the show certainly saw some changes for WWE. It was the first major show without Vince McMahon in charge of the company and that meant WWE needed to make some kind of an impact. A lot of that came in the main event which featured one of the stranger things that WWE has done in a rather long time. Now we know a bit more about what happened. The main event of Summerslam was a Last Man Standing match with Roman Reigns defending the WWE Universal Title against Brock Lesnar. During the match, Lesnar drove a tractor to the ring and lifted it up off the ground. According to PWInsider.com, the spot was “rougher and harder” than originally planned. There was a rehearsal for the spot earlier in the night, with a production worker driving the tractor. From another angle. Check out a different look at the tractor moving the ring: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: That is certainly something you do not see every day and it..

Backstage Details On Vince McMahon Being Edited During Production Meetings

Get the mute button ready. Last week, Vince McMahon officially retired from WWE after the better part of forty years running the company. That is the kind of thing that is going to change the wrestling industry for a very long time to come and now we get to see where things are going. We also know where they were, and some of those things were a bit less than optimal. According to Fightful Select, McMahon would regularly have to be “filtered” during creative meetings. This included editing the statements that McMahon would make in the meetings’ minutes, including inappropriate or offensive terms, calling wrestlers by the wrong name, or using terms that would not be allowed to air on television. In addition, McMahon would insist on running stories and matches that had already been done as he would forget about them, even if he was told about them. Opinion: I’ve long since been a fan of McMahon, but my goodness it can be difficult to defend some of the things he was saying or doing dur..

Say What? There Were Already Some Changes Made To WWE In Vince McMahon’s Absence

You can already feel it. Earlier this week, Vince McMahon officially retired from WWE, meaning that we are entering into a brand new era in the company. This could be quite the change of pace and there is no way of knowing just how things are going to go. One of the biggest changes is going to be the lack of McMahon influence on the product and some of those changes have already started taking place. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, there were multiple changes made during this week’s SmackDown, the first show without McMahon in charge. Some of these included New Day mentioning Ring Of Honor and the IWGP Tag Team Titles, as well as Michael Cole referring to “the WWE fans”. There is no word on other changes that might be made, but the lack of McMahon talking to the commentators throughout the show could cause more to take place. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that could be rather interesting. There are going to be a lot of changes to WWE in the big picture, but the smaller on..
