What are they up to? AEW has filed a new trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, looking for “AEW Collision” to be found under entertainment services. This filing seems to suggest that the company is adding another television show to its lineup, as the trademark is listed as a show. AEW already airs Dynamite on TBS and Rampage on TNT while their streaming shows, AEW Dark and AEW Dark: Elevation, air on YouTube. AEW’s PPV events air on Bleacher Report. The trademark reads as follows: “Mark For: AEW COLLISON™ trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of educational and entertainment services, namely, a continuing program about wrestling accessible by radio, television, satellite, audio, video and computer networks; Entertainment services in the nature of live wrestling performances; Entertainment services in the nature of production of wrestling programs and events; Entertainment services, namely, an ongoing multimedia program featuring wrestling..
Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Royal Rumble 1991 Date: January 19, 1991 Location: Miami Arena, Miami, Florida Attendance: 16,000 Commentators: Gorilla Monsoon, Roddy Piper So it’s 1991 now and the US is at war (kind of). Therefore, the main event here, other than the Rumble of course, is Warrior defending the world title against Slaughter. This is a major changeover from the old Rumble formula which was a bunch of nothing matches followed by the big battle royal to close the show. Well at least on PPV that is. This would become the norm after this..
Run it back. On last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, it was confirmed that FTR will defend their ROH Tag Team championships at the 2022 Final Battle event against their rival, The Briscoes, in a Double Dog Collar match. This came about at the end of Dynamite, following The Acclaimed’s successful defense of the AEW Tag Team Championships against FTR. Colten and Austin Gunn appeared on screen and pulled a Christmas card out of a stocking. They then pulled out dog collars to review the stipulation for the match. #TheGunns @coltengunn & @theaustingunn have a gift for #FTR @CashWheelerFTR @DaxFTR It's a Double Dog Collar Match against #DEMBOYS #TheBriscoes @jaybriscoe84 @SussexCoChicken for the #ROH World Tag Team Championship at #ROHFinalBattle LIVE on PPV this SATURDAY! pic.twitter.com/fIp8H8Dkc6 — All Elite Wrestling (@AEW) December 8, 2022 FTR defeated The Briscoes at April’s Supercard of Honor to capture the ROH tag team championships. After months of speculation, MJF won the AEW World Championship on Saturday night at AEW Full Gear. Since his return, MJF has been pushed as an emerging babyface with a “clean victory’ over Jon Moxely being a point of pride for his character. However, William Regal slid his own brass knuckles to MJF for him to take another shortcut to the richest prize in AEW. An angle that had been heavily foreshadowed on AEW television for weeks, especially since the MJF/Regal confrontation promo. While the swerve of the storyline was obvious, the fun of the situation is the questions that the AEW fanbase is asking about what happens next. Related: MJF Wins AEW World Championship; William Regal Turns Heel at AEW Full Gear After the PPV, Dave Melter reported on F4Wonline that Tony Khan was the one who put the final angle together. In fact, he actually held very strong that his plan was the best direction forward despite several “influential wrestlers” and other proposing creative ideas for the finis..
Last August, Edge openly admitted that his wrestling days were numbered after he made his return to WWE back in 2020. A part-time schedule and smart booking has allowed the WWE Hall of Famer to continue wrestling for the past three years in select feuds, but even he would be the first tell you that he’s wrestling on borrowed time. During a recent podcast episode of the Leafs Morning Take, Edge discussed a number of topics, including the Toronto Maple Leafs, the fact that the Montreal Screwjob was his first WWE PPV he attended as a talent and an update on the “clock ticking” on The Rated R Superstar’s wrestling career. Here’s the full appearance from Edge. Around the 8:50 mark is when he begins addressing the “closing window.” Edge announced his retirement plans back in August. Edge mentioned that he would be interested to officially end his career in Toronto next August. He’s talked about getting to choose his ending this time, but he’s an older man now. Recovery time is likely a l..
That would be different. WWE runs regular monthly premium live events as the focal point of their in-ring action. This includes several shows that the company has run for years if not decades, many of which are among the best known shows in wrestling. The company presents several shows that involve some kind of a special theme, but that might be changing going forward. According to Bryan Alvarez’s Super Fans Twitter account, by way of Wrestlingnews.co, WWE is planning to make a change to its premium live events starting in 2023. This would include more international events and fewer gimmick based events, such as Hell In A Cell or Tables Ladders And Chairs, for example. There is no word on what kind of shows would replace the originals. This comes after news broke that WWE was canceling it’s Day One event. Per Bryan Alvarez, WWE will make major changes to PPV/PLE events in 2023. Likely more international shows, less gimmick shows. — Wrestling News (@WrestlingNewsCo) October 16, 2022 ..
There’s a first time for everything. WWE presented its annual Summerslam event over the weekend, marking the thirty fifth edition of the show. As usual, the event was one of the biggest of the year and featured some of the top names in all of WWE. That means making it onto the card is a big deal, and it turns out that two of the people on the show did something no one has ever done before. One of the matches on the Summerslam card saw the Usos successfully defend the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles against the Street Profits. According to the Wrestling Stats & Info Twitter account, this marks the first time that a team has defended a Tag Team Title at consecutive Summerslams (not counting Kickoff Shows). The Usos defeated the Mysterios at Summerslam 2021 and have held the titles for over a year. Not counting kickoff matches, the @WWEUsos are the first duo in @WWE history to defend a tag team title at two consecutive #SummerSlam PPV events. — Wrestling Stats & Info (@WWEStats) July 31..
Never mind. We are less than a month away from one of the most unique shows on the wrestling calendar as AEW presents Forbidden Door. The show will feature a series of matches between AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling stars, with the first match being announced this week. While CM Punk vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi is set, another match that was rumored will not be taking place. On Thursday, a story reported by Dave Meltzer began circulating that IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada will be defending his title against Hangman Page. However, according to Meltzer, the match is not going to be happening as the lineup that he saw for the show was not accurate. The rest of the card other than Punk vs. Tanahashi is being kept secret, with the June 26 card still to be announced. Per @davemeltzerWON, his WOR note last night that Hangman Page vs. Okada was tabbed for Forbidden Door based on a lineup he had seen was incorrect. That match is not planned for the PPV as the lineup is being kept a secr..
Call it a scheduling issue? Wrestling has been put together in a similar fashion for a long time now. Most of the time, television shows have been designed to set up the bigger events down the line, often in the form of pay per views. Most major promotions in the world operate this way, but now we might be seeing two big shows taking place pretty close together. The WrestleVotes Twitter account is reporting that WWE will be returning to the United Kingdom for a pay per view on September 3 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. This is on the same weekend as AEW All Out 2022, though it is not clear when All Out will be taking place. This will be the first major WWE pay per view event in the United Kingdom since Summerslam 1992. Source states the long-awaited WWE United Kingdom PPV return will take place Saturday, September 3rd at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. That is the same weekend as AEW’s ‘All Out’ PPV. — WrestleVotes (@WrestleVotes) March 17, 2022 Opinion: This i..
Welcome back. There are a lot of reasons a wrestler might miss time from the ring. It might be due to a wrestler needing a break or it might be an injury, but sometimes it could be something a lot more serious. That was the case with one of the biggest stars in AEW, who needed to take some time off to deal with some personal issues. Now though, we know when he is returning to the ring. Back in November 2021, AEW’s Jon Moxley entered a rehabilitation center for alcohol related issued. As a result, he has been absent from the ring and television ever since. Now though, Game Changer Wrestling has announced that Moxley will be returning to the ring to defend the GCW World Title against Homicide on January 23. There is no word on when Moxley will be returning to AEW television. *BREAKING* Just Signed for #TheWrldOnGCW: *GCW World Title Match* MOX vs 187 Plus: Janela vs Cardona Allie vs Ruby Gresham vs Blake Team Bandido vs Team Gringo Watch LIVE on PPV or @FiteTV:https://t.co/DT2a5ab..
That’s a big negative. We are coming up on WWE Day One, which will be taking place for the first time in the company’s history. The event is being held on the first day of the year to mark the beginning of a new year. That should be enough to make the show feel unique, but WWE has some more ideas in mind for the event. It just turns out that we will not be seeing any of them. The WrestleVotes Twitter account is reporting that multiple ideas were pitched to change up the look of the Day One pay per view. These included changing the rope colors to the mat colors to different camera angles. However, all of the ideas were rejected, meaning that as of Friday evening, the show will be presented as usual with no changes of any kind from the normal look. In coordination w/ the Day 1 theme, multiple presentation ideas were discussed regarding the look & feel of tomorrow’s PPV. Everything from different rope colors, mat colors, camera angles etc and from what I’m told ALL were declined. Sheesh..
She did it again. Wrestling is a little bit different when it comes to records as it is a little bit difficult to buy what a wrestling promotion or a wrestler says happened. It can get a little confusing with everything going on and how many different ways a company likes to stretch the truth, but sometimes you can get some outside sources. That is the case again for a pretty impressive WWE milestone. Guinness World Records has announced that WWE’s Natalya has officially set the record for most matches won by a woman in the history of the company. As of November 2021, Natalya won her 641st match, which means the record breaking win could have come on November 10 at a live event in Manchester, England or in a tag match on the November 19 SmackDown. This comes less than two months after Natalya was certified as having the most matches and pay per view appearances by a woman in WWE history. She's made the most PPV appearances and had the most matches for a female in WWE history… N..

This is from sometime around Christmas of 2001 which I’ll try to find an exact date for (future edit: got it). OVW was the official developmental organization for WWE for a very long time, just like FCW is now. They didn’t have PPVs but they had big shows where WWF guys would come down and this is one of them. The production value is very low here and the fact t..

Survivor Series 2013 Date: November 24, 2013 Location: TD Garden, Boston, Massachusetts Attendance: 13,500 Commentators: Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, John Bradshaw Layfield It’s the final show before the 2014 edition and for the most part I have no idea what happens here. If I remember right it’s something about Orton and then Reigns destroying a bunch of people. It kind of amazes me how easy the last year is to forget while I could snap off the main event of almost every PPV 2005 or so. Let’s get to it. Pre-Show:..
They’re on a roll. AEW has become one of the biggest wrestling promotions in the world in a pretty short amount of time. They have done a lot of things right so far and their pay per views have been among their most successful endeavors. AEW was back on pay per view this weekend with Full Gear and there was a lot taking place on the show. Fans seemed to like it, but what about the wrestlers themselves? According to Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men podcast, backstage morale is very high in AEW following Full Gear. The feeling is that the investments that the company has made in younger and future stars is already paying dividends. Full Gear featured a main event of Hangman Page defeating Kenny Omega to win the AEW World Title, plus Maxwell Jacob Friedman defeating Darby Allin in a match advertised as a battle of the young pillars of the company. Spoke to someone within AEW last night regarding the PPV. "Morale is very high with the locker room. The investment AEW has made in its future s..
I’d call it an accomplishment. AEW has hit the ground running despite not even being around for three years yet. That is the kind of thing that you almost never see in the wrestling industry but AEW has made it work very well. What makes it all the more interesting is seeing where they are going to go next, and now they have a new accomplishment worth bragging about. Last Sunday, AEW presented its All Out 2021 pay per view, which featured multiple title matches, the in-ring return of CM Punk and the debuts of Ruby Soho, Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson. On Monday, AEW President Tony Khan said that the show was the most viewed AEW pay per view of all time. Now, Busted Open Radio has released a clip of Khan speaking about the show, where he reveals that All Out received over two hundred thousand pay per view buys. The previous AEW record was Revolution 2021, drawing about 125,000 buys. Thank you to everyone who’s ordered #AEWAllOut & made it the most watched @AEW PPV ever! Thank you every..

Get your scorecards ready. We are less than a week away from AEW’s All Out and that means the card is all but ready to go. The company can still come up with a few changes though, and it can be made even worse if the changes are not something AEW exactly wants to do. That seems to be the case again, as three matches have been changed in the span of a day. AEW President Tony Khan announced that the scheduled All Out match between Pac and Andrade El Idolo has been postponed due to travel issues. While not confirmed by AEW, El Idolo is teasing a match against a mystery opponent at the pay per view. In addition, the Casino Battle Royal has been moved to the main card. Finally, a new Buy-In Show match has been added to the card, with Chuck Taylor/Wheeler Yuta/Orange Cassidy/Jurassic Express vs. the Hardy Family Office. Thank you to you fans supporting #AEWDynamite LIVE next on TNT! The Women’s Casino Battle Royale, which was booked on the Buy In, will now be featured on the ALL OUT ppv ca..
