It deserves some praise. WWE runs several events a year, some of which are among the biggest shows put on by any wrestling company in the world. It means a lot for a star to appear on one of those shows as there is great exposure than on almost any other platform. That is the case this week as well, and now we know just how big things were on a recent major event. He’s earned it. AEW has changed the way the wrestling world works, as the company now allows several other wrestlers a top level platform. Now we might be seeing another newcomer appear full time, if he is willing to say yes. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT; Pencil It Out: AEW Pulls Match From Full Gear, Reschedules It For Dynamite This week on AEW Dynamite, AR Fox made his AEW television debut when he teamed with Top Flight in a losing effort against Death Triangle. Sweeten The Pot: Contract Details On Returning WWE Superstars

Sign them up. There are several wrestling promotions in the world but there are only a handful that are able to run full time. Those promotions are able to keep wrestlers around on a more secure basis and they often include full time contracts. Signing one of those deals can change a wrestler’s career and now we know some more about a few recent signees to the biggest promotion in the world. Several WWE stars have returned to the company in recent months, including three of the four members of Hit Row. According to Fightful Select, the three (Top Dolla, Ashante Thee Adonis and B Fab) all signed three year deals, which will expire at the same time in 2025. New Home? Important Streaming Trend Could Shake Up AEW And WWE Television Deals

That’s a good sign. Wrestling is in a weird place when compared to mainstream sports. While wrestling is certainly an athletic endeavor, it is closer to a performance than a competition. At the same time, wrestling has quite the audience and that is something that can bring in quite a bit of money. Now the two biggest wrestling companies in the United States might be ready to use their audience to bring in a lot more money. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: WWE Star Teases Taking Going In A New Direction According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Thursday Night Football on Amazon is drawing in the same numbers in the 18-49 demographic as Monday Night Football on ESPN. This suggests that a core audience will watch a show on streaming, which could lead to online platforms such as Amazon Prime or Netflix could be interested in acquiring WWE or AEW programming when the new broadcasting deals are available. WWE’s current TV deals expire in September 2024, with the negotiations for a new ..

RUMOR KILLER On Attempt To Bring AEW Stars Back To WWE

Not so much for that. The rise of AEW has opened up several new doors for wrestlers, as stars now have a new platform to ply their trade on a big stage. AEW has had some success so far and the question now becomes how much of that can they maintain. At the same time, there are going to be some wrestlers who want out, but it seems that one recent story wasn’t accurate. Last week, a report surfaced saying that Bobby Fish, who has left AEW, was trying to get Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly to return with him to WWE. However, according to Fightful Select, AEW sources are denying this story and there has been no contact between WWE and Fish about a possible return. Both Cole and O’Reilly are currently out of action with injuries and it is not known when they will be back. Opinion: This makes a bit more sense, as even if the three of them wanted to go back to WWE, there is a long list of issues that they would have to solve with their AEW deals in the first place. The Undisputed Era could work..

WATCH: WWE Hall Of Famer Explains Recent Bizarre Twitter Activity

There’s a good reason. Wrestling has changed a lot over the years, especially in the last few years. One of the biggest ways has been the rise of social media, as wrestlers are now able to communicate with their fans like never before. This is a great way to interact with the people but not everything works out for the best. That was the situation this weekend when things got a bit weird. Over the weekend, WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long went on a blocking spree on Twitter, cutting off a large portion of wrestlers who followed him on the platform. Several wrestlers seemed surprised by the situation and Long changed his account to private. Long later released a video, announcing that his Twitter had indeed been hacked and that he didn’t want anyone to be mad at him. He also promised to explain more about the situation later. Now hold on a minute, playa! pic.twitter.com/Ni6gxWRojn — Samuel Guevara (@sammyguevara) September 25, 2022 I am!! Haha what is this teddy purge about? https://t.c..

WWE Airing Special Event On Fox Next Month

It’s a special. WWE is in a rather strong place when it comes to their current television contracts. While Monday Night Raw and NXT are on the USA Network on Monday and Tuesday, Friday features SmackDown on the FOX Network. That is the biggest platform WWE has ever had and it means something when FOX wants more programming. That is what they will be having again later this year. According to PWInsider.com, FOX will air a special looking at the WWE’s Top Ten Women’s Extreme Moments over the first weekend in October. The special will air at varying times throughout different markets. This special will be airing about a week before the Extreme Rules premium live event on September 8. FOX occasionally airs various specials such as this one for certain occasions. Opinion: This is one of those things that is very good to see for WWE as FOX is confident enough in WWE programming to put it on instead of anything else they have. WWE has a built in audience and if they can bring some of those ..

Rare Stipulation Set For WWE Extreme Rules Grudge Match

That’s a big match. There are a lot of ways to present a feud in wrestling. It might be over a championship or something personal but there is often a lot of violence involved. This can often include some kind of a special gimmick or stipulation to take the feud to another level. It has worked for years and now it is happening again with a stipulation we do not see very often. Matt Riddle and Seth Rollins have been feuding for the last several weeks, with Rollins defeating him at Clash At The Castle when Riddle got too aggressive. The two have since cost each other matches and had to be held apart this week on Monday Night Raw. Rollins shouted that Riddle could pick the next match so Riddle said in the Fight Pit at Extreme Rules. The Fight Pit has only been used in NXT and features a cage around the ring with platforms on top. Opinion: They needed to do something big for the rematch and I like this more than some street fight or tables match or whatever. Sometimes you need to mix it ..

Update On WWE Losing Streaming Partner, Content Goes Away This Weekend

It’s one less place. WWE has a lot of content available in any given week and that has always been a strong suit. One of the company’s biggest strengths is that they are able to present their product in a variety of places, meaning it is really hard to avoid. That has helped them quite a bit, but now it seems that they are going to be losing one of their bigger platforms. Last week, reports surfaced that WWE’s content on Hulu was listed as expiring before the end of the month. According to PWInsider.com, the content is scheduled to be pulled on Saturday September 24 or Sunday September 25, marking the end of WWE’s content on Hulu. The deal between the two sides expires before the end of the year and while a new deal could be worked out, the two sides splitting would mark the end of a deal that has been in place since 2012. Opinion: This is one of those things that feels more like consolidating than anything else, as WWE will likely move their Hulu content over to Peacock. That makes ..

WATCH: WWE Offers 14 Contracts After SummerSlam Tryouts

Dreams can come true. WWE has released a new video on its social media platforms in which Triple H offers 14 contracts to people who attended their tryouts in Nashville over SummerSlam weekend. You can see the video of the offers and the reactions below: [This post contains video, click to play] The names of the new signees are: Kennedy Cummins Gabrielle Dunn Rickssen Opont Alivia Ash Harleigh White Chukwusom Enekwechi Jade Gentile Anna Keefer Breanna Ruggiero Beau Morris Franki Strefling Hayden Pittman Lea Mitchell Kevin Ventura-Cortes The signings come after previous reports that this set of tryouts will be the last to focus on non-wrestlers, as there were several injuries due to the athletes not being experienced. The tryouts were reportedly described as a “disaster.” Therefore, the solution will be to bring in more independent wrestlers who are experienced in the ring. Editor’s Opinion: I love stuff like this. It’s always cool to see regular folks have an opportunity to real..

Another Wrestling Legend Preparing For His Final Match

One more time? Last month, Ric Flair wrestled his last match in front of thousands of people in Nashville, Tennessee. That is the special kind of show that only a legend is going to get and Flair would certainly meet that criteria. While there are few names in wrestling on Flair’s level, there are several other legends who would be interested in one last hurrah and another has added his name to the list. WWE Hall of Famer the Honky Tonk Man, 69 years old, has announced that he is preparing for one more match, though no details have been given on the specifics. The tweet making the announcement shows Honky Tonk Man putting on his knee pads and smiling at the camera. Honky Tonk Man’s most recent match took place in November 2019 at the WildKat Revolution Rumble. HTM preparing for one more match! pic.twitter.com/lL50hWVPF9 — Honky Tonk Man® (@OfficialHTM) August 9, 2022 Opinion: While I can’t imagine Honky Tonk Man is going to get the same kind of platform that Flair is getting, I’m s..

NXT Results – July 26, 2022

NXT Date: July 26, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Wade Barrett, Vic Joseph It’s the first show of the new regime and I’m not sure how much of a difference that is going to make. NXT seems a bit more planned out that Raw and Smackdown so it might be a little while before the impact takes hold. Maybe they have a few surprises or at least ideas this week though so let’s get to it. Here is the recently returned Zoey Stark for a chat. She is REALLY happy to be back and talks about being on the shelf since October after tearing her ACL and MCL. The doctors told her it would be over a year before she could return, but she worked in that trainer’s room so hard and beat the expectations by four months. Now she is the #1 contender for the Women’s Title and only has Toxic Attraction standing in her way. Cue Cora Jade on the platform to say she is already sick of Stark. Jade was ready to be champion but Stark had to take HER MOMENT, just like Roxanne Per..

NXT Results – July 19, 2022

NXT Date: July 19, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Wade Barrett, Vic Joseph The focus is on the women again this week as we have a battle royal for the #1 contendership to the Women’s Title. Other than that, we are probably going to be getting a lot more attention on Cora Jade betraying Roxanne Perez last week. And maybe Bron Breakker can do something. Let’s get to it. We open with a long recap of last week, with Cora Jade turning on Roxanne Perez and costing her the Women’s Title. Cameron Grimes vs. JD McDonagh Grimes shoulders him down but McDonagh kicks at the knee. That doesn’t bother Grimes, who kicks him in the chest and hits a backdrop. A whip into the corner has McDonagh on the apron and a big boot puts him on the floor. Back in and Grimes hits a high crossbody to rock McDonagh again, but here is Joe Gacy on the platform for a distraction as we take a break. Back with Gacy still looking down and McDonagh blocking a suplex from the apr..

WWE RAW Returning to TV-14 Rating

Let the carnage begin. According to a report by Andrew Zarian of F4WOnline, WWE RAW will be returning to a TV–14 rating on their programming. The change to this is said to begin with this coming Monday night’s edition of the show. Starting July 18th WWE Raw will have a TV-14 rating moving forward on USA Network. The PG Era is over. WWE has maintained a TV-PG rating across all platforms since July 22, 2008. The 2008 SummerSlam pay-per-view was the first event of its kind to carry the rating. This move is coming after reports that WWE was discussing to make NXT 2.0 a TV-14 show. Within the origins of this NXT 2.0 concept was an idea that the programs rating would shift from TV-PG to TV-14. Source confirms that’s still very much on..

Former WWE Star Clarifies Comments, Not Retiring

Stick around for a bit. Wrestlers are a lot like other athletes in that they have to hang up their boots one day. That is a bit trickier for a wrestler though as it is rather easy to be able to stick around for one more match here or there, especially with so many promotions available. It seems that the news of someone no longer wrestling might have been a bit exaggerated. Earlier this year, Dirty Dango (formerly known as Fandango in WWE) said that he would be stepping away from wrestling in the next few months. The tweet also said “Goodbye forever”, which was taken to mean that Dango was retiring. However, in an interview with the Dropkick Podcast, Dango explained that he was not retiring, but rather not wrestling as much. Dango said that he will be putting more time into his construction business as well as having surgery on his knee. He also wanted to get away from Twitter, which he described as a very negative platform. Opinion: I can see why there was some confusion and thankful..

WOO! Ric Flair Is Working With WWE Again For A Special Project

He’s back, kind of. There are all kinds of legends in wrestling and some of them are the biggest names the sport has ever seen. Even then though, there are some names who are even bigger than others, some of which are still around today. One of those names is going to be getting a special look back at his life and career, and it happens to be with a company that he left again not so long ago. WWE has announced that they will be teaming with Fox Sports’ Tom Rinaldi and Ric Flair for a two hour documentary on Flair. The documentary is described as containing never before revealed history about Flair, though it is not clear if it will be focused on his career or life outside of the ring. No details, including the release date or platform, were given about the project.
