SmackDown Results – March 10, 2023

Smackdown Date: March 10, 2023 Location: PPG Paints Arena, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Commentators: Michael Cole, Wade Barrett We are just over three weeks away from Wrestlemania and the biggest development coming into this show was Jey Uso rejoining the Bloodline by taking out Sami Zayn. That seems to be the step that we have been waiting for on the way to whatever the Usos and Zayn are going to be doing at Wrestlemania so we might see something big tonight. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of Jey rejoining his brother Jimmy on Smackdown. Cody Rhodes made the save to tie it into the World Title situation. The Usos arrive and are greeted by Paul Heyman. Jey asks where Roman Reigns is but Heyman hugs him. Jey says let Reigns know he’s here so Heyman goes to find him. When asked why he turned on Sami Zayn, Jey says he’ll make it clear tonight. Jimmy says Cody Rhodes needs to stay out of the Bloodline’s business. Opening sequence. Drew McIntyre vs. Sheamus vs. LA Knight vs. Xavier..

SmackDown Results – December 9, 2022

Smackdown Date: December 9, 2022 Location: PPG Paints Arena, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Commentators: Michael Cole, Wade Barrett We’re coming up on the end of the year and that means the Royal Rumble is still pretty far away. This time around we have a Tag Team Title match as the Brawling Brutes challenge the Usos, which should be a good fight. Other than that, it’s time to get ready for next week’s Intercontinental Title match so let’s get to it. Tag Team Titles: Usos vs. Brawling Brutes The Brutes (Sheamus/Butch with Ridge Holland) are challenging while Sami Zayn and Solo Sikoa are here with the champs. Sheamus headlock takeovers Jimmy down to start and then blasts him with a clothesline. Butch comes in and gets taken into the corner for a throat first drop across the top as we take a break. Back with Butch still in trouble but managing a German suplex off the ropes. That’s enough for the tag off to Sheamus for the house cleaning. We get the stereo multiple forearms to the chest, wi..

REVIEW: Armageddon 2007: They Need Something New

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Armageddon 2007 Date: December 16, 2007 Location: Mellon Arena, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Attendance: 12,500 Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield, Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler, Joey Styles, Taz It’s the final pay per view of the year and it’s more or less a one match show. While there is a Raw main event of Chris Jericho challenging Randy Orton for the Raw World Title, the real main event here is Smackdown World Champion Batista defending the Smackdown World Title against Undertaker and Edge in a triple thr..

AEW Rampage Results – May 6, 2022

Rampage Date: May 6, 2022 Location: Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena, Baltimore, Maryland Commentators: Chris Jericho, Excalibur, Ricky Starks, Taz We are on the way to Double Or Nothing and that means it is time to start hammering things down. Therefore, it means we are still wrapping up the qualifying matches for the Owen Hart Foundation tournaments, as they have now entered their third month. Maybe this show can be better than Dynamite though so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Britt Baker/Jamie Hayter vs. Toni Storm/Ruby Soho Rebel is here too. Storm runs Hayter over to start and drives her into the corner to take over. Baker comes in and gets taken down by Soho, who ducks a superkick and rolls her up for two. The villains take over though and we take an early break. Back with Storm fighting her way out of the corner and the double tag brings in Ruby to elbow Baker down. Everything breaks down and Baker’s Pittsburgh Sunrise is broken up but Baker counters Storm Zero into ..

AEW Rampage Results – April 22, 2022

Rampage Date: April 22, 2022 Location: Petersen Events Center, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Commentators: Ricky Starks, Taz, Excalibur We’re back on Friday this week as AEW has been trying to ramp this show up a bit more in recent weeks. That means more star power, and this week it means a title match as Jade Cargill is defending the TBS Title against Marina Shafir. We also have a pretty big showdown between Adam Cole and Tomohiro Ishii. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Owen Hart Foundation Qualifying Match: Adam Cole vs. Tomohiro Ishii We go right to the ring (with Rocky Romero and Orange Cassidy at ringside) with Cole striking away but getting dropped with a chop. They head outside with Ishii hitting the post and getting driven into the barricade. Back in and Cole grabs the chinlock but seems to be favoring his arm. Some forearms don’t do much on Ishii, who knocks Cole into the corner with a single shot. Back up and Cole charges into a powerslam but slips out of a powerslam. The fi..

AEW Dynamite Live Coverage And Results – April 20, 2022

Dynamite Date: April 20, 2022 Location: Petersen Events Center, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Commentators: Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur Battle Of The Belts has come and gone and now we should be on the way to Double Or Nothing in May. That means it should be time to start getting ready for the bigger pushes as the card hasn’t been set up so far. CM Punk gets to face Dustin Rhodes tonight so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Opening sequence. Dustin Rhodes vs. CM Punk They shake hands to start and it’s a feeling out process to get things going. The fans are split as they go technical, with a headlock not getting either of them very far. Punk takes him to the mat and cranks on the leg a bit but Dustin is right back up with a wristlock. Some armdrags into an armbar slow Punk down but he sends Rhodes outside, where the knee is banged up. Back in and Punk stays on the leg with some elbows and kicks as we take a break. We come back with Rhodes sending him outside and hitting some cl..

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results – March 28, 2022

Monday Night Raw Date: March 28, 2022 Location: PPG Paints Arena, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton, Michael Cole It’s the last Raw before Wrestlemania and since this company doesn’t have the best ideas, that means this is Wrestlemania Raw. Hopefully that means we get some juice added to what has already been set for the card, because this isn’t looking like the strongest Wrestlemania so far. Let’s get to it. Here is Brock Lesnar to get things going (with Michael Cole being heard saying “yes sir” during his entrance). After a look at Lesnar taking over Roman Reigns’ dressing room on Smackdown and beating up a bunch of security, Lesnar gets to do his own introduction. Lesnar: “That might have been good but it sounded like it sucked.” We are on the way to Wrestlemania so Lesnar is going to give us his game plan for his match with Roman Reigns. They are going to go down memory lane in Suplex City and then go to the carnival. Reigns is taking..

REVIEW: Summerslam 1995: The Better Ladder Match

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Summerslam 1995 Date: August 27, 1995 Location: Pittsburgh Civic Center, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Attendance: 18,062 Commentators: Jerry Lawler, Vince McMahon So it’s time for the annual redos and for some reason, my readers decided to have me watch one of the worst Summerslams of all time. I’m so thrilled. Anyway this is built around Diesel vs. King Mabel in one of those moments where Vince McMahon was considered completely insane. Let’s get to it. The opening video talks about the big matches tonight, including..

WATCH: Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns From Roadblock: End of the Line 2016

A true friend? WWE has posted a new video to their YouTube channel in which they show the full match between Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship from Roadblock: End of the Line 2016. You can see the video in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: Whether he was torn up about his strained relations with Chris Jericho or just looking to play mind games with Reigns, Owens started the contest by evading The Big Dog. That plan worked for a bit — until Reigns’ fist swiftly met the WWE Universal Champion’s face with a firm punch to the kisser. From there, The Guy and KO went back and forth in front of the WWE Universe in Pittsburgh, with momentum shifting several times over. KO seemed to have victory in hand when he dished out three vicious Frog Splashes (one onto the announce table, the second crashing him through it and the third in the ring for a near fall), but Reigns would not be derailed. Instead, The Big Dog rallied ba..

Wrestling Star Appears On Game Show And Wins Big

I’ll take that bet. Wrestling is quite the good choice for television programming as wrestlers often make for great on-screen characters. They are often over the top and larger than life, or at least larger than most people around them. That allows for some entertaining moments, especially if you can get them out of the ring every now and then. That was the case again this week. Former WWE star Erick Rowan appeared on the game show You Bet Your Life this week. During the show, Rowan was mentioned as being a professional wrestler, including his loss to the Rock in six seconds at WrestleMania 32. Rowan and his partner won $5,500, the most a team can win on the show, by answering trivia questions about things associated with Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Rowan is still active, having wrestled on the independent circuit earlier this month. Drop the answer you think is right in the comment section, then tune in tonight to see if you and this unlikely pair of contestants, get the right answer!..

REVIEW: SmackDown – May 11, 2007: Edge’s Really Big Day

Smackdown Date: May 11, 2007 Location: Mellon Arena, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield It’s a big show this time around with the Undertaker defending the World Title against Batista inside a cage. That alone should be enough to carry the show and….well that’s about what it’s going to do as that’s the only major thing set for the show. Unless you could spoilers that is, as WWE has already said what happens this time. Let’s get to it. The opening video looks at Undertaker v..

AEW Rampage Results – August 20, 2021 (First Dance)

Rampage Date: August 20, 2021 Location: United Center, Chicago, Illinois Commentators: Jim Ross, Mark Henry, Excalibur, Taz So this is a weird show as there is a big surprise, but everyone knows exactly what it is going to be. AEW has all but said what is going to happen here and that just leaves the question of how it goes down. There are a few ways to do that and I’m rather excited about what is going to happen. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. The crowd is already changing for CM PUNK…..and here he is to open the show. Punk takes his time getting to the ring and is clearly shaken up by this. Punk even dives over the barricade into the crowd and hugs a lot of people at ringside. After a break, Punk says you know how to make a guy feel like Britt Baker in Pittsburgh. Punk says he’s winging this and while he can’t get to everything tonight, he has a lot of time on Wednesdays, Fridays and four Saturdays/Sundays a year. One important thing: if any of his decisions have ever made an..

Christian’s AEW ‘Rampage’ Win Sets The Stage For ‘All Out’

Christian Cage became the new Impact World champion on Friday, August 13. The win came after the opening match on AEW Rampage, which featured Cage versus Kenny Omega. This was Omega’s first title loss since “collecting” several championships over the past year. Cage’s victory in front of the red hot Pittsburgh crowd is perhaps a surprise to many fans. Omega does inevitably retain in the big match environment, after all. It’s not that Christian wasn’t valued as a title contender going into the bout. But AEW loves to tease an Omega loss and it never happens. However, now that Cage has won, it does set the table for his showdown against Kenny at All Out. [This post contains video, click to play] The Christian Coalition News of Christian’s AEW Championship match versus Omega came on the August 11 edition of Dynamite. Cage was recently declared the new No.1 Contender to Omega’s title, so fans knew a match was coming. But no one seemed to believe it would come at All Out on September 5...

AEW Rampage Results – August 13, 2021 (Debut Episode)

Rampage Date: April 13, 2021 Location: Petersen Events Center, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Commentators: Excalibur, Chris Jericho, Mark Henry, Taz It’s the debut of the secondary show which is actually on television and not full of squashes. I’m not sure what this is going to mean for the company as a whole, but if they can put some stuff on here instead of cramming it all onto Dynamite, we could be in for something good. The card is pretty stacked tonight too so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Impact Wrestling World Title: Kenny Omega vs. Christian Cage Omega, with Don Callis, is defending. They go with the feeling out process to start and Christian flips him off in the corner to start the mind games. It’s too early for both guys to hit their finisher and Omega bails to the floor for an early breather. Back in and Omega chops away but Christian knocks him to the apron for the dropkick back to the floor. Hold on though as Callis offers a distraction, allowing Omega to shove Christia..

AEW Dynamite Live Coverage And Results – August 11, 2021

Dynamite Date: August 11, 2021 Location: Petersen Events Center, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Commentators: Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur It’s the Britt Baker Show this week and that is pretty long overdue. Baker has been the best thing about the women’s division, if not the entire company, for a long time now and deserves a big hometown night like this. Other than that, we are getting ready for both All Out and this week Rampage debut. Let’s get to it. MJF, with Wardlow, talk about how Chris Jericho is trying to make his way through the Labors of Jericho, but tonight he is running into a monster. Jericho needs to defeat MJF because he never has before and he can’t handle that. Somehow though, let’s say that he makes it through Wardlow, what do you think is waiting on him? MJF brings up Wardlow losing to Cody Rhodes in the cage last year though and tells him not to mess up again. Wardlow destroys the apple MJF hands him. Elite vs. Mike Sydal/Matt Sydal/Dante Martin Don Callis is o..

Bruno Sammartino And Sasha Banks Honored In Different Ways

Those are some special honors. Wrestlers are celebrities, but they live in a rather small bubble. They are famous and on television almost every week, but that fame can only go so far. Sometimes they are able to reach a new level outside of wrestling, though there are some who become such wrestling legends that they do not need to go elsewhere. Now we are seeing a great success story in both styles. Two wrestlers, one active and one deceased, have received a special honor. First up, a park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has been renamed to honor WWE legend Bruno Sammartino. The park is in Ross Township in Pittsburgh and was formerly known as Sangree Park. A ceremony was held to change the name and included the unveiling of a new sign showing Sammartino standing in the ring and wearing what would become the WWE Championship. This is pretty cool. Check out the new park name being unveiled: [This post contains video, click to play] Also, SmackDown’s Sasha Banks has revealed her official ..

WATCH: 7 Minutes of “Stone Cold” Stunners

Oh Hell Yeah! WWE has released a new video to its YouTube Channel, in which they show 7 minutes of Stunners by “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. This is in preparation for his return to Raw this coming Monday, to celebrate 3:16 day on March 16. You can see the video in its entirety below: It is unknown at this time if the show will go on, due to the ongoing threat of the Coronavirus. WWE has already moved their upcoming Smackdown show to the Performance Center, and a recent Tweet from Wrestlevotes indicates that Raw may be doing the same thing: This Monday’s RAW, which was to take place in Pittsburgh, will likely move to the Performance Center as well. This Monday’s RAW, which was to take place in Pittsburgh, will likely move to the Performance Center as well. — WrestleVotes (@WrestleVotes) March 13, 2020 Editor’s Opinion: This is something that we need during these difficult times.
