AEW Star Suggests Tag Team Might Have Split

They might be done. Tag teams have a long history in wrestling and the modern era has seen a new emphasis on the idea. There are all kinds of great teams out there and a lot of them are in AEW. During its history, the company has presented several teams, allowing a variety of wrestlers a chance to shine. That being said, not every team can be around forever and now one star is heavily suggesting that his team is coming to an end. During a new interview on the Cafe de Rene with Rene Dupree podcast, AEW’s Brian Pillman Jr. implied that the Varsity Blonds, his team with Griff Garrison, was done. Pillman talked about how AEW took away Julia Hart, who joined the House Of Black, which ended the team’s appeal. He also said that he hoped when people looked back on the team, they did so fondly. It was not specifically said that the team was broken up. They have not wrestled together since since August 21. Opinion: As much as I like the team, this might be for the best. They have lost so many ..

WATCH: Surprise Return Takes Place To End AEW Rampage

There’s a comeback. AEW has built up its roster with a mixture of veterans and up and coming stars, which allows them to have quite the mixture of wrestlers and matches. As a result, the fans continue to react strongly to almost anything that they do, meaning that a big moment can get quite the reception. That was the case again this week, as a special return took place. Sting made his return to AEW television this week ok Rampage, helping Darby Allin after Allin’s match against Bobby Fish. Allin won the match but was attacked by Fish and Kyle O’Reilly until Sting returned and made the save. This let Sting and Allin Pillmanize O’Reilly’s leg in a repeat of the same attack that put Sting on the shelf during the May 18 edition of Dynamite. Welcome back. Check out the big return to end the show: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is the kind of thing that makes AEW feel special. They know how to time this kind of return to maximize the impact, as Sting has been g..

There’s Your Dream Team: Bret Hart Manages FTR Over The Weekend

It’s long overdue. There are certain times when you see a pair of wrestlers who seem like they are a perfect fit. It might be them facing off or teaming together, but it can make for some fascinating moments when they finally make it happen. This can be all the more common in modern wrestling with different promotions around the world and that was the case again this weekend. Over the weekend, WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart managed FTR at a Big Time Wrestling event in Webster, Massachusetts. The match saw FTR defeat Brian Pillman Jr. and Brock Anderson, who had Brock’s father Arn in their corner. This comes as FTR has been paying tribute to Hart, including indirectly referencing him in their promos. The show will be available on Fite TV at some point in the future. A celebratory tequila toast in Webster, Massachusetts with @BretHart and @DaxFTR after tonight’s wildly successful @BTWwrestling show. Be sure to catch the event on @fitetv – an announcement on when you can purchase and vie..

SmackDown Star May Be Missing Time After Brutal Match At Hell In A Cell

Maybe that’s how they get rid of him? There are a lot of different ways to get a wrestler off of television from time to time. Sometimes it might be due to an injury but it can also be a way to get them a breather for one reason or another. You never know when you might be seeing them again and that seems to be the case again with a SmackDown star who seems to be taking time off. This weekend at Hell In A Cell, Madcap Moss defeated Happy Corbin in a No Holds Barred match. Moss won the match by Pillmanizing Corbin’s neck with the steel steps. As a result, Corbin was taken out of the ring on a stretcher, suggesting that he could be missing some time. This comes less than a month after Corbin did the same to Moss, putting him on the shelf for three weeks. Opinion: Corbin taking some time away might be the right idea, as it will make Moss look that much stronger. Moss has become a bigger deal over the last few months and taking out Corbin makes him seem like a force. I could go for havin..

A New Look: WWE Announces SmackDown Return And Teases Gimmick Change

Welcome back. There are a lot of people on the WWE roster and some of them get to stand out more than others. You can often tell when WWE is interested in pushing someone at a high level and that can make for some interesting moments. It can be interesting to see how the company puts together a push for the person and now we might be seeing that again next week. On the May 13 SmackDown, Happy Corbin attacked Madcap Moss and Pillmanized his throat with a chair. Moss has not appeared on WWE TV since, but his return was announced this week on SmackDown. WWE announced that Moss will be returning next week, with Moss including a tweet saying that he was coming back with no jokes or cap but rather to beat up Corbin. This comes after rumors of Moss being repackaged into a different look, though there is no word on how much of a change there could be. You spit in the face of Andre’s legacy. You tried to end my career. But you didn’t – cuz Madcap is built different. Corbin, get ready to see a..

That Makes Three: Another Wrestling Star Added To Upcoming Film

It’s a group project. Wrestling and acting have a weird relationship, as wrestlers are acting but when it comes to acting, they are only seen as wrestlers. You will occasionally see a wrestler who has success in the acting world but they are often few and far between. Every wrestler turned actor has to start somewhere though and now we might be seeing that be the case again. Film director Michael Matteo Rossi has announced that Impact Wrestling’s Tenille Dashwood has been cast in his upcoming film The Charisma Killers. Dashwood is at least the third wrestler who will appear in the film, along with Jessie McKay and Brian Pillman Jr, whose participation was announced earlier this month. There is no word on if any other wrestlers will be cast or when/where the film will be released. Here is how the film is described: When the old mentor of 7 killers finds out he has terminal cancer, he gives them all an opportunity at his fortune to prove themselves for one night only to exact revenge...

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Considering Major Changes To SmackDown Star

It might be a good idea. Wrestlers have a tricky job as they have to find the right combination of everything to make their career work. This can take a lot of time, but being able to get the right look, the right style, the right persona and more can make all the difference in the world. Now a star might be getting an overhaul, which could be to his benefit. Last week on SmackDown, Happy Corbin attacked Madcap Moss and Pillmanized his throat, resulting in Moss being taken out of the arena in an ambulance. According to Wrestlingnews.co, there have been pitches to change Moss into a more serious character, including dropping his jokes and changing his gear. There is no word on if these pitches have gone anywhere or when Moss will return to television. Opinion: I’ve heard worse ideas than this one, as Moss was only going to get so far under his joke telling character. That is not exactly something that has the longest shelf life and hopefully WWE has something better for him next time...

New Career: AEW Star Lands Debut Acting Role

It’s something new for him. Wrestlers have a weird relationship with acting, as while they are acting on a wrestling show, they are always seen as wrestlers instead of actors. There are some wrestlers who are very talented at acting though and occasionally you will see someone trying their hand at acting in a bigger way. That seems to be the case again with an AEW star. AEW’s Brian Pillman Jr. has announced that he will be appearing in the upcoming movie the Charisma Killers, joking that he has graduated from Varsity Blond to Hollywood Blond. This is Pillman’s first acting role, though there is no word on when or where the film will debut. Former WWE and Impact Wrestling star Jesse McKay will also appear in the film, which is directed by Michael Matteo Rossi. The news that I was excited to share with you all today! Just landed my first acting role! I guess you could say I graduated from Varsity Blond to Hollywood Blond!!! ???? https://t.co/l4OxUHyVGB — Brian Pillman Jr. (@FlyinBrian..

WWE May Have Written A Surprising Name Off Of Television This Week

Catch you later? With so many people on the WWE roster, it can be hard to find something for everyone to do. At the same time, there are wrestlers who WWE will want to use on a regular basis because they have plans for them. That seems to be the case with a wrestler who might not be around much in the near future, as WWE seems to have written him off television for the time being. This week on SmackDown, Happy Corbin attacked Madcap Moss during Moss’ in-ring promo. Corbin jumped Moss from behind with a chair and laid him out before wrapping the chair around Moss’ neck. He then used the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal trophy to Pillmanize Moss’ neck, which caused Moss to be stretchered out of the arena. It is not clear when Moss will return to television. Opinion: I’m not sure what is going on here, as WWE has pushed Moss as a pretty big deal in recent weeks and even had him beat Corbin at WrestleMania Backlash. I can’t imagine this is the kind of match that will go to the Cell ..

It’s Happening: Bret Hart Confirmed To Manage FTR

There is your dream team. There are certain wrestlers who seem like they would be perfect together and occasionally you get to see them working together. That can make for some outstanding moments if you can wait long enough to actually see them. There is a current pairing that fans have been clamoring for and now we will be getting to see it, albeit on a slightly smaller stage. Big Time Wrestling in Webster, Massachusetts has announced that Bret Hart will be managing FTR in a tag match against Brian Pillman Jr. and Brock Anderson on June 10. Arn Anderson will be in the corner of Pillman and Anderson, Arn’s son. This comes after several weeks of speculation of Hart coming to AEW to manage FTR. There is no word on if this will be done again elsewhere. FTR will FINALLY get their chance to be managed by Bret Hart when they take on the team of Brian Pillman Jr & Brock Anderson with Arn Anderson! It happens on Friday June 10th in Webster, Ma! AEW Star Out Of Action Due To A Concussion

That’s never good to hear. There are all kinds of possible injuries in wrestling and you never want to see someone put on the shelf. Some of them can take longer to overcome than others, as some do not have the easiest path to recovery. Unfortunately that can be the case with a lot of brain related injuries and that is the case with one wrestler who is still in recovery. According to Wrestlinginc.com, AEW’s Brian Pillman Jr. suffered a concussion during his tag team match with Griff Garrison against the Kings of the Black Throne this week on Dynamite. As a result, Pillman was forced to miss this weekend’s Warrior Wrestling event, with the promotion announcing Danny Bang as his replacement. There is no word on when Pillman will be cleared to return to the ring. Unfortunately, Brian Pillman Jr. is not medically cleared to compete tomorrow night in South Bend, so Chicago's hottest new rising star, the sensation of the Logan Square Auditorium…. DAVEY BANG steps up to challenge SILA..

AEW’s Best: Even MJF’s Parents Can’t Stand Him

Does anyone like him? There are certain villains in wrestling who almost could not be a good person if they tried. These often make for the best heels in all of wrestling and it can be absolutely great to see some of these people allowed to let loose on the microphone. That is the case with one of the best villains going today but now he has gone another step beyond. This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite took place in New York City, the hometown of Maxwell Jacob Friedman. As a result, Friedman’s parents showed up at the event, with his mother holding a sign saying “we’re MJF’s parents and we think he sucks too.” Friedman’s father also wore an “I HATE MJF” shirt. Friedman responded with a tweet saying “f*** off mom”. During the show, Friedman defeated Brian Pillman Jr. via submission. Fuck off mom. https://t.co/MWeV6lOezG — Maxwell Jacob Friedman™? (@The_MJF) September 22, 2021 Friedman is a heck of a villain. Check out some of his best moments: [This post contains video, click to pl..

AEW Rampage Results – September 10, 2021

Rampage Date: September 10, 2021 Location: Fifth Third Arena, Cincinnati, Ohio Commentators: Jim Ross, Mark Henry, Taz, Tony Schiavone The biggest week in AEW history wraps up here with a pay per view quality match. This week’s feature match will see Pac vs. Andrade El Idolo in a match that was supposed to take place at All Out. Instead it is happening here, along with hometown boy Brian Pillman Jr. facing the rather rude Max Caster. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Pac vs. Andrade El Idolo Chavo Guerrero is here with Idolo. They stare each other down to start before going at it in a hurry. Andrade catches him with a basement dropkick and we hit the Tranquilo pose. Some kicks in the ribs just wake Pac up and he hurricanranas Andrade outside for the big running flip dive. Pac whips him hard into the barricade and we hit the chinlock back inside. Andrade snaps off a running boot to the face and a hanging DDT onto the apron sends Pac hard to the floor. That means Andrade can hit hi..

MJF’s Promo On AEW Dynamite Sent A Woman Into Labor (And It Gets Better)

That’s a new one. While the name of the game is wrestling, talking is a lot more important than what goes on inside the ropes. Without talking and charisma, it can be rather difficult to get the fans to care. There are some incredible talkers in the sport today and you can see a lot of them every single week. That was the case this week as well, but I don’t think you’ve ever seen this result. This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured a Maxwell Jacob Friedman in-ring promo. During his promo, Friedman talked to a pregnant woman in the crowd, who revealed herself to be Brian Pillman Jr.’s sister. Pillman Jr. eventually came down to face off with Friedman to end the segment. The following day, Pillman Jr. revealed that his sister began having contractions due to the promo and will be giving birth later this week. On top of that, there is a chance that Pillman Jr. and his soon to be born nephew will share a birthday. Pillman Jr. is scheduled to face Friedman at Grand Slam on September 2..

RUMOR: WWE Interested In Signing AEW Wrestlers

They have good taste. AEW has only been around for about two and a half years now and yet they are already the second biggest wrestling promotion in the United States, if not the world. That is the kind of thing that you do not see happen every day and it is impossible to not take notice. WWE certainly has, and it seems that AEW has something that WWE would like to get. According to the Mat Men Wrestling podcast, AEW is coming up on three years of existence, meaning that some of its wrestlers’ contracts are about to expire. As a result, there are several names that WWE is interested in signing, though it is not clear who they are or if anyone is interested in jumping. One specific name that WWE is interested in signing is Brian Pillman Jr., though Pillman only signed with AEW less than a month ago, meaning he would not be available for years. They have good taste. WWE RUMOR: Update On Sasha Banks’s On-Screen Status

That didn’t take long. SmackDown has gotten a lot better in a short amount of time and the fans seem to be responding to the changes that they have been making. The show still has a long way to go, but they have some intriguing storylines that have caught the fans’ attention. One of them has been set up for a long time now and will be taking another step forward next week. Last week on SmackDown, Bayley and Sasha Banks failed in their attempt to regain the Women’s Tag Team Titles. Banks was injured during the match and as she was being tended to, Bayley turned on her and injured Banks even worse. This included a bad knee injury and Bayley Pillmaniazing Banks’ neck. That would seem to put someone out for a long time, but it might not be as long as you would expect. According to Wrestlingnews.co, FOX has been airing commercials advertising Banks returning to SmackDown on next week’s show. The ads say that she will be addressing the situation with Bayley after last week’s attack. It is ..

THIS SmackDown Segment Drew Highest Wrestling Audience In Months

It got the attention. The Women’s Revolution has been going for over five years on WWE television but it really started years before. Down in NXT, the Four Horsewomen became the cornerstones of the movement and they took those talents up to the main roster. The four of them have feuded with each other in various combinations for years and now one of them has gotten some serious attention. Last week on SmackDown, Bayley and Sasha Banks lost their rematch for the Women’s Tag Team Titles. Banks was injured during the match which ultimately cost them their title shot. After the match was over, Bayley attacked Banks and went after her already injured knee, followed by Pillmanizing Banks’ neck. This was a long time in the making and the fans were rather interested. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the 9:00 – 9:30 time slot from last week’s SmackDown, which featured the title match and the post match attack on Banks, drew 2.32 million viewers. That number is the highest rated segment ..

AEW Dark Results – July 7, 2020

If you would like to see this show in full, you can watch it here for free: Dark Date: July 7, 2020 Location: Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, Florida Commentators: Excalibur, Taz It’s the go home show for the second half of Fyter Fest and I’m not sure if that is going to matter. This show continues to be all over the place and I’m not sure what to expect from it week to week. One of the biggest draws here is the in-ring debut of Brian Pillman Jr., who could be a star in a few years. Let’s get to it. Taz and Excalibur give us a quick hello. Brian Pillman Jr. vs. Shawn Spears Tully Blanchard is here with Spears. Feeling out process to start with Pillman flipping out of a wristlock and kicking Spears into the corner. Some chops put Pillman in the corner but he’s right back with a dropkick. That means a chat with Blanchard on the floor, which seems to work as Spears dropkicks him off the ropes back inside. Pillman gets sent head first into the steps on the way to the ring but he’s right ..

Major League Wrestling Fusion Results – March 28, 2020

If you would like to see the show in full, you can watch it right here for free: Fusion #103 Date: March 28, 2020 Location: 2300 Arena, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Commentators: AJ Kirsch, Rich Bocchini It’s the final night in Philadelphia and that means things should be hitting a high note this week. The main event features King Mo vs. Low Ki in what should be a rather hard hitting match. Things have been up and down around here lately and with just one TV taping left in the can, they’re running out of time to leave on a good show. Let’s get to it. We look at the setup of last week’s eight man tag, plus the match itself. The big post match brawl included King Mo joining Team Filthy in an important addition. Dan Lambert, Mo’s manger, isn’t worried about a suspension because you’re not getting rid of Mo that easily. Mo will be allowed to wrestle during an appeal and he’ll dominate again. Opening sequence. Brian Pillman Jr. isn’t here for some reason so his interview is postponed. ..
