That would have been different. There are several different ways to introduce a new wrestler and one of the most successful is to have them introduced as part of a wrestling family. It is an idea that has worked over the years and still does to this day. Now we are hearing a story about an idea that would have seen a wrestling family grow even larger than it already is. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He’s Up: WWE And AEW Set For Likely Bidding War Over International Star Former WWE star Matt Morgan was a guest on Insight With Chris Van Vliet and revealed that he was going to be introduced as Kane’s brother Abel. During his time in OVW, then WWE’s developmental system, Morgan was told to wrestle in a mask to get him used to using one. There is no word on why WWE did not use Morgan in the role. Morgan also made it clear that this was not the same storyline as the Impostor Kane, which took place in 2006. Morgan is a talented big man. Check out his time in the industry: [This post contains vid..
Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? OVW Christmas Chaos 2001 Date: January 31, 2001 Location: Louisville Gardens, Louisville, Kentucky Commentator: Jim Cornette Ah OVW, how much I love thee. This is from sometime around Christmas of 2001 which I’ll try to find an exact date for (future edit: got it). OVW was the official developmental organization for WWE for a very long time, just like FCW is now. They didn’t have PPVs but they had big shows where WWF guys would come down and this is one of them. The production value is very low here and the fact t..
Another Battle Of OVW. The Monday Night Raw roster is in a bit of a weird place at the moment as Bobby Lashley has held the WWE Championship for about six months. That does not leave him with many fresh opponents, meaning WWE is going to have to come up with someone new to come after the title. Now they have someone new in mind and it could be interesting. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is planning for a WWE Title program between Lashley and Randy Orton. This comes after Orton and Riddle defeated Lashley and MVP in the main event of this week’s Monday Night Raw. Following the match, Orton laid out Lashley with an RKO. There is no word on when the title match would take place, though Lashley does not have an opponent for Extreme Rules. They might have something here. Check out how we could be seeing the match and some of Orton’s best WWE moments: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to pla..
This does not sound good. Thursday saw a host of major wrestling names being accused of either sexual assault or sexual harassment as wrestling’s version of the MeToo movement seemed to begin. This is a story that is going to be going around for a good while to come and that should be the case. There are a lot of names included, and one of the biggest is receiving more details than almost anyone else. Jim Cornette is one of the more controversial figures in all of wrestling. While he is one of the more knowledgeable names in the industry, some of his comments and statements have gone a good bit over the line. Couple that with Cornette’s very brash demeanor and it is no surprise that he is not going to be well received by some people. There are now allegations against him as well and they are not likely to go well either. On Thursday, former Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW, of which Cornette owned a piece and was an on air performer) performer Phil Earley said that Cornette’s wife Stacey (..
It’s a good way to teach. I’d think it’s safe to say that NXT has been a success in more than one way. While it offers some of the best and most exciting wrestling in the world right now, it also serves as a way to get the newly signed wrestlers some experience in the ring. It serves WWE well as a developmental system, and now it seems that another major company is doing the same. Impact Wrestling has announced via their Twitter account that they are reestablishing their relationship with Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) to make it their official developmental territory again. OVW, out of Louisville, Kentucky served as the WWE’s developmental territory from 1999-2008 and for Impact Wrestling from 2011-2013. The two companies recently worked together for a One Night Only event from Impact Wrestling’s Davis Arena. BREAKING: We are thrilled to announce that we have re-entered into an agreement with @ovwrestling to serve as an official development and training territory for IMPACT Wrestling. ..
Matt Cappotelli's wife provides a heartbreaking update on Matt. Former WWE 'Tough Enough' winner Matt Cappotelli has had a rollercoaster of a life. Cappotelli earned a WWE contract along with John Morrison as the two men won the third season of 'Tough Enough'. After making a number of appearances on WWE programming he was sent to OVW to continue training and eventually became OVW Heavyweight Champion. In 2005 Cappotelli was diagnosed with a tumor just a few years after earning his WWE contract which forced him to relinquish the OVW Heavyweight Championship. During the summer of 2017 Cappotelli announced that he was set to undergo emergency surgery after doctors discovered a large tumor in his brain. Over the following weeks and months Cappotelli provided updates on his health but recently Cappotelli's wife, Lindsay, posted the following detailed update onto her personal blog sharing the news that Matt's health is severely declining and noted that s..
