It had to happen eventually. There are all kinds of titles in wrestling and some of the most well known are in WWE. Those are not all of the titles around the world though as other promotions have championships and honors of their own. You will occasionally see those paths cross though, and now one of the crossings that led to some interesting questions have been closed. One such match saw Tama Tonga defeat Karl Anderson to win the NEVER Openweight Title. Anderson currently works for WWE as part of the Monday Night Raw roster and was the reigning champion when he returned to WWE in November. He’s on the market. Wrestling is changing faster than it ever has before and that is a great thing to see in a lot of ways. One of the most important aspects of modern wrestling is how easy it is to see wrestlers from around the world. This allows promotions to see who else they might want to sign when they get the chance, and another person has been added to the free agent list. According to Fightful Select, Tom Lawlor’s contract with Major League Wrestling is expiring, with his recent loss in a casket match being used as a way to write him off of television. Lawlor is a former Major League Wrestling World Champion, as well as the winner of the Battle Riot and the Opera Cup. There is no word on where Lawlor will be signing next, though he is the current New Japan Pro Wrestling Strong Openweight Champion. You might need to get used to him. Huge Surprise Debut Ends Impact Wrestling Slammiversary

There’s your next big one. The wrestling world has changed a lot in recent years as all kinds of wrestlers are appearing in various promotions. That has shaken things up in a good way as wrestlers get to have matches against wrestlers you might not have been able to see before. It can make for some very exciting debuts and appearances, which was the case again this weekend. Impact Wrestling’s Slammiversary pay per view ended with Kenny Omega successfully retaining the Impact Wrestling World Title over Sami Callihan. After the match was over, former IWGP Heavyweight Champion and current NEVER Openweight Champion Jay White made his Impact Wrestling debut to confront Omega. KENTA’s victory in the first ever New Japan Cup USA Tournament on August 21 gave him the right to challenge for the IWGP United States Championship. KENTA has held only one title, the NEVER Openweight championship, since arriving in the promotion in 2019 and now wants to add the U.S. belt to his list of accomplishments. But the problem is that the current United States champion, Jon Moxley, is also the AEW World Heavyweight champion. Mox has obligations to Tony Khan’s company and thanks to travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the champ has been unable to work in Japan. So what happens now? You may have missed it this morning, but New Japan Pro Wrestling ‘s Dominion event took place this morning inside the Osaka-jo Hall. The card features the next installment of the Kenny Omega vs. Kazuchika Okada saga over the IWPG Heavyweight Title. Chris Jericho challenged Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship and a lot more. 2018 Dominion saw five major titles changes during the event. The first being Michael Elgin winning the NEVER Openweight Championship in a Triple Threat Match defeating Hirooki Goto and Taichi.
